Temperature Controlled Bath – USER MANUAL

Temperature Calibration A master “resistance” calibration of the bath is carried out by the factory. In addition, the bath is calibrated at the desired set-point of use, or if not known at 25°C (model with cooling, or 40°C without cooling). A certificate of calibration is supplied with the bath confirming the OFFSET to apply from date of first use (see example certificate below). In use, the customer can carry out their own OFFSET calibration at any point between the minimum and maximum bath operating limits (e.g. 20 to 50°C with integrated cooling or up to 100°C without cooling). This will require the use of a calibrated reference thermometer – PSL Rheotek recommends the F100 digital contact thermometer, which we can be supplied with a certificate of calibration.

Water Treatment

The user should carry out their own risk assessment regarding using water as a bath fluid.

This option will allow the user to carry out a water treatment heating cycle to ensure that water does not stagnate which could provide an opportunity for Legionella bacteria to proliferate.

Select this option from the MAIN MENU.

The bath will automatically heat to 65°C and hold this temperature for one hour.

Toggle the Cool Mode OFF before starting this cycle.

NOTICE

When working with manual viscometers it may be preferable to use water as the bath medium if the Bath Set Point is 50°C or lower. Only use water as specified in the bath fluids section.

Bath stirring Stirrer speed The stirrer speed is pre-set by the factory according the bath model. The stirrer speed is independent of load i.e. a more viscous fluid will pull more current but will not reduce the speed of stirring. 10L bath – set up at factory 1200 rpm (2V) 18L bath – set up at factory 1500 rpm (2.5V) If necessary the stirrer speed can be adjusted by the on-board speed controller (main board on LHS) but this may affect the bath temperature calibration. Please contact Technical Service at PSL before changing the stirrer speed.
