Only when we’ve pored over every pore.

Every seam.

Every cut.

Every perforation.

Every molecule of metal, atom of air, hand-stitched stitch and dimple of leather.

Rolled the chassis through 40 pairs of wrists and 110 years of muscle memory. Bonded it with space-age glue that makes it immune to the universe.

Watched the sun rise and sleep twice in the time it takes to paint it.

Gathered our assumptions, assembled the engine.

Tested it.

In the bite of the Arctic.

In the boil of the desert.

In the wind of the tunnel.

On the reality of the road.

Stopped the powertrain in its tracks until it’s generating pure thunder.

Checked that the wipers still wipe at more than 200 miles an hour.

Imprinted the DNA of the driver onto the genetics of the car.

Rolled it to the departure gate.

And agreed, without a quivering lip of doubt – every single proud and obsessive one of us –that it’s fit to fly.

Do we add the wings.

INTENSITY. DRIVEN. astonmartin.com Proud Partners of amfAR

CHAMPAGNE

GLADYS KNIGHT

PERFORMER

The great ones endure, and Gladys Knight has long been one of the greatest. Very few singers over the last sixty years have matched her unassailable artistry. This seven-time Grammy Award winner has enjoyed #1 hits in Pop, Gospel, R&B, and Adult Contemporary, and has triumphed in film, television, and live performance.

All told, Knight has recorded more than 38 albums over the years, including four solo albums: Good Woman (1991); Just for You (1994); the inspirational Many Different Roads (1999); and At Last (2001). At Last showed the world that she still has what it takes to record a hit album, employing the talents of contemporary producers like Randy Jackson.

Knight has continued to spread her acting wings, making a guest star appearance in the FOX hit show Star and appearing in the film Almost Christmas in 2016, both which were produced and directed by Lee Daniels. She appeared on ABC’s 14th season of Dancing with the Stars in 2012. In 2019, she competed on the inaugural season of The Masked Singer and sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta. Knight sang the National Anthem on yet another major sports stage at the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. This past 2022 holiday season she starred in I’m Glad It’s Christmas on Great American Family and received the 45th Kennedy Center Honors for Lifetime Artistic Achievements along with George Clooney, Amy Grant, Tania León, and U2 in December. In addition, this past March she received the National Medal of Arts along with Julia LouisDreyfus, Bruce Springsteen, José Feliciano, and Mindy Kaling.

Her involvement in other creative undertakings, business ventures, and humanitarian activities has been extensive, and has brought her honors from the industry and the community alike. In 2015, a portion of Atlanta’s State Route 9 from Peachtree Street to 14th Street was officially named Gladys Knight Highway.

ADAM LAMBERT

PERFORMER

After blowing everyone away on the eighth season of American Idol, Adam Lambert went on to release his debut album For Your Entertainment, which included the international hit “Whatya Want from Me” and earned him a Grammy Award nomination. Adam followed this success with his second album, Trespassing, the first album by an openly gay artist to reach the numberone spot in the U.S. and Canada. His highly anticipated third album The Original High, his first for Warner Records, was executive produced by Max Martin and Shellback, and included the smash hit “Ghost Town.” The fulllength album Velvet dropped in March 2020 and included “Roses,” featuring Nile Rodgers.

This past February, Adam released High Drama, an album of inspired covers released via BMG that landed him his fifth Top 10 on Billboard’s Album Sales Chart. Executive produced by Adam, alongside production from the likes of Tommy English, Andrew Wells, George Moore, and Mark Crew, High Drama highlights a journey through modern music, from classics such as Ann Peebles’ “I Can’t Stand The Rain” to modern hits like a rock-leaning rendition of Lana Del Rey’s “West Coast.”

In between his own concerts and touring the world as the current front man of Queen, Adam has been exploring the world of film and TV (Glee, Fox’s The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Bohemian Rhapsody, Playmobil: The Movie, and The X Factor Australia). At the start of 2022, Adam joined the judging panel for new ITV (UK) Saturday night entertainment show Starstruck, for which he’s back again this year.

At the beginning of 2020, Adam Lambert launched the Feel Something Foundation, a non-profit organization in support of LGBTQ+ human rights.

After a four-year long hiatus, Sir Brian May, Roger Taylor, and Adam will set out on a spectacular North America run this fall with their universally acclaimed Rhapsody Tour, which kicks off on October 4 at Baltimore’s CFG Bank Arena making stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Denver and more before concluding at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.

BEBE REXHA

PERFORMER

If there’s one refrain that follows singer, songwriter, and cultural sound-shaper Bebe Rexha, it’s this: Expect greatness, and expect it constantly. It’s a refrain that echoes throughout the singer’s third studio album, Bebe (“the album I needed to make”)—a sumptuously woven tapestry of sounds and influences that finds Bebe, who’s achieved a massive 16 billion total global streams, at her most introspective and mature, tracing her growth through life, love, and everything in between. Heavy on dance but anchored in its entirety by Bebe’s career-best songwriting and singing, Bebe is an album that brims with lyrical highlights, sparkles with nostalgia, and pulses with sleek production and sonic propulsion. A progression in every sense, Bebe takes listeners on a journey hand-in-hand with its storyteller, and we promise: It’s a trip you’ll want to take over and over again.

Something human rights.

Adam will set out universally acclaimed CFG Bank Arena Chicago, Dallas, Angeles.

Born in 1922 in Syracuse, New York, he burst onto the New York art scene in the mid-1940s along with a generation of prominent abstract artists and remained active until his death in 1993. His art was exhibited at Peggy Guggenheim’s renowned Art of This Century Gallery in New York, the leading gallery for established European modernists and the emerging Abstract Expressionists. Andres Valencia (b. 2011) is a California-based contemporary artist known for dramatic, colorful figurative paintings that are deeply influenced by Cubism. Valencia has been painting since he was five years old. He stands on a step ladder to create large-scale works with a mix of oil stick, and oil and acrylic paint, seeking to create bold colors and wildly imaginative fragmented facial compositions. Teachers involved in his California public school Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) program quickly identified his extraordinary talent. Surrounded by art at home, Valencia is inspired by Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, George Condo, and Salvador Dalí.

At the young age of eleven, he has had enormous success catching the attention of the press and art collectors from around the world. During Art Miami 2021, he was featured on Good Morning America and many other significant news outlets globally. Also at Art Miami 2021, where he became the youngest artist in history to have his own booth, his entire body of artworks sold out on opening night. His success continued in 2022, as every painting sold in one day at Art Palm Beach in March, and all works sold before the opening of his solo exhibition in New York in June. Profiles about Valencia have been featured in The New York Times, Forbes, The Times, NPR, Artnet News, Robb Report, and Smithsonian Magazine, among many other international publications. His auction debut featured the painting Ms. Cube at Phillips, Hong Kong, realizing a $160,000 sale price, over three times the high estimate. Another hit $230,000 at a charity gala in Capri, Italy. His works are in the private collections of Robbi and Bruce E. Toll, Jessica Goldman Srebnick, Sofía Vergara, Tommy Mottola, and Kim Tae-hyung (known as "V" in the group BTS). He has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charity, donating works to raise money for amfAR, UNICEF, Box of Hope, and the Klitschko Foundation in Ukraine. To date, artworks that Valencia has donated to charitable causes have raised nearly US$1 million.

ANTHONY JAMES

80" Icosahedron (Glass Onion), 2021

Stainless steel, glass, LED lights

This specific artwork was featured in the 2022 movie Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Anthony James (b. 1974) is a London-born, Los Angeles-based artist who graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design with a degree in painting. James is known for his monumental sculptures and installations that embrace Minimalism, Transcendentalism, and Light and Space. In the winter of 2023, James became the first and only visual artist to have work exhibited on all seven continents when he installed one of his stainless steel, glass, and LED Portals at White Desert’s base camp near the South Pole.

“My work deals with a universal language based in sacred geometry,” says James. “It’s innate to everyone on the planet, so it’s an honor to have my work on view in every continent.”

Among his major public installations, James occupied a garden at the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual Chelsea Flower Show in 2022, installing three light sculptures emulating natural crystal formations in tandem with 16 transmorphic color cubes sculptures at Saatchi Gallery that were connected to a central ethernet “brain” feeding algorithmic color cues to the sculptures, mimicking the mycorrhizal networking of birch forests. In 2021, James engaged the facade of the Flannels flagship on London’s Oxford Street with 33 million LEDs that wrapped the boutique's exterior inside three dozen digital canvases projecting films exploring the infinite interiors of the artist’s Portal sculptures. He has also worked with the city of Westminster to install three monumental Light Field sculptures at Marble Arch in Hyde Park that drew 250,000 visitors in less than four months.

His works have been exhibited at the Palm Springs Art Museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art (Bentonville, AR), Berkeley Square (London), Art Basel (Switzerland), and The Armory Show (New York). He has works currently on public display in Aspen, Beverly Hills, Singapore, Dubai, London, and New York. His work has been the subject of solo gallery exhibitions at Saatchi Gallery (London), Opera Gallery (New York, Dubai, London), Brand New Gallery (Milan), There-There and Patrick Painter, Inc. (Los Angeles), and notable group shows at Blum & Poe (Los Angeles), SHOWstudio (London), and Thread Waxing Space (New York). His work has also been featured in The New York Times, Cultured, Artnet, Vogue, WWD, Bloomberg, Forbes, and Wallpaper*.

Household gloss on canvas

111.6 in. x 84 in. / 283.5 cm. x 213.4 cm.

Signed on the reverse by Damien Hirst and Leonardo DiCaprio

Internationally renowned British contemporary artist Damien Hirst has been no stranger to shock and spectacle from the start, fusing originality and pastiche into a body of work that has often married the entrepreneurial with the aesthetic.

Born in Bristol and raised in Leeds, Hirst began his art studies at Jacob Kramer College of Art. He moved to London in 1984 and was graduated from Goldsmiths College (1986–1989), where he curated a student show, Freeze, that showcased works by sixteen of his classmates who would go on to be known as the Young British Artists (YBAs), a dominant force in the 1990s art scene thanks in part to art collector Charles Saatchi. During this time, Hirst made the first of his Spot Paintings, which fuse color and geometry and play with the notion of machine-precision art vs. the handheld brush. Beautiful Leonardo DiCaprio Looking Away Painting is an example of Hirst’s Spin Paintings, which use centripetal force to spread bright colors across canvases with a randomness that stands in contrast to his Spot Paintings. Recently he completed a series of paintings during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Cherry Blossoms, large-format canvases that revisit and revise floral subjects of earlier eras.

Along with painting, Hirst has explored assemblages, notably in his series, Medicine Cabinets, and installations, such as Treasures from the Wreck of the Unbelievable, which presented artifacts from a fictional 2,000-year-old shipwreck discovered off the coast of East Africa in 2008 and salvaged by Hirst.

Major retrospectives of Hirst’s work have been mounted at the Museo Archeologico Nazionale in Naples in 2008 and the Tate Modern in London in 2012. He opened his own gallery, the Newport Street Gallery in London, in 2015. Hirst’s accolades include Tate Britain’s Turner Prize, one of the most prestigious awards for contemporary art.

Over the years, Hirst has auctioned off numerous pieces to raise money for HIV/AIDS. In 2014, at amfAR Gala Cannes, Hirst’s gigantic vitrine sculpture, Gone but not Forgotten, which contained the gilded skeleton of a woolly mammoth, was auctioned for €11 million. Donated by Hirst, the work was part of his Natural History series.

RUDOLF STINGEL

Untitled, 2014

Oil and enamel on canvas

95 in. x 76 in. / 241.3 cm. x 192 cm.

Signed and dated on the reverse

Conceptual artist Rudolf Stingel (b. 1956) is best known for installations that cover exhibition spaces with monochrome carpets. Born in Merano, Italy, Stingel rose to prominence in the late 1980s for his monochromatic silver paintings with tones of red, yellow, or blue. In the 1990s, Stingel began producing abstract paintings by applying a single color on the canvas and then spraying silver paint through pieces of gauze. His works on paper use a similar technique of applying oil paint through tulle.

Many of Stingel’s prints and installations question the idea of authorship by emphasizing the democratic and collaborative nature of the artistic process. For his work included in the Venice Biennale in 1989, Stingel created Instructions, a manual in several languages that details the process of making one of his paintings.

Other installations by the artist use a wide range of materials, such as Styrofoam, carpet, and cast polyurethane. For a retrospective of his work in 2007 at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, Stingel covered the walls with metallic Celotex and encouraged visitors to inscribe the soft surface. His work has been exhibited at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York.

He lives and works in New York and Merona.

New York City-based artist Michael Kagan is known for producing oil paintings with large, expressive brush strokes that convey a decisive hand and the power of his subject matter. Kagan explores the physical and emotional journey that accompanies explorers, from mountaineers to astronauts. His dramatic paintings depict man pushing the limits of nature through technology and physical stamina. Kagan believes a painting is perfect “when it can fall apart or it can come back together depending on how you read the image and also how close you are.”

Born in 1980 in Virginia Beach, Michael Kagan received his B.A. from The George Washington University and M.F.A. from New York Academy of Art, where he also completed a postgraduate fellowship in 2005. Special projects include a commission from the Smithsonian, three collaborations with Pharrell Williams, and album cover artwork for White Lies’ Big TV, which won the 2013 Best Art Vinyl Award. A new sculpture collaboration with Pharrell will be unveiled during Paris Fashion Week in June 2023.

Kagan has been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. In 2019 he had his first solo museum exhibition at Virginia MOCA, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Recent solo exhibitions at Almine Rech Gallery include Brussels in 2021 and London in 2022. His next solo exhibitions will be at Almine Rech Gallery in Paris in Fall 2023, The Journal Gallery in New York City in Fall 2023, and with Venus Over Manhattan in New York City in Spring 2024.

Kagan’s work is in the collections of the Hall Art Foundation, Reading, Vermont; Maezawa Collection, Chiba, Japan; MAKI Collection, Tokyo, Japan; Gemini Trust Company, New York, New York; Fidelity Investments Corporate Art Collection, Boston, Massachusetts; Founders Fund, San Francisco, California; and Jacob & Co., New York, New York, among others. A monograph of his work was released in 2019 by ARTBOOK | D.A.P.

Traveler, 2023

Oil on canvas

72 in. x 58 in. / 182.88 cm. x 147.3 cm.

Caroline Absher (b. 1994, North Carolina, USA) received a B.F.A. from Pratt Institute in 2016. Her work has been shown internationally. Solo exhibitions include Back to Oz, Fredericks & Freiser, New York, NY; Tennis Elbow, The Journal Gallery, New York, NY; and Earthbound, Makasiini Contemporary, Turku, Finland. Group exhibitions include Horizons, Sow & Tailor, Hong Kong; Women of Now, Green Family Art Foundation, Dallas, TX; 4 Artists, Fredericks & Freiser, New York, NY; Hospitality Suite, Mindy Solomon, Miami, FL; What Now?, AM/PM, London, UK; among others.

Absher’s oil paintings explore the figurative and the abstract, sometimes using herself as a subject, sometimes people close to her, and often with animals depicted in close proximity to humans. Surrounding landscapes and skyscapes often become psychedelic dream worlds. Her color palette alternates between vibrant and muted. More so than fast-drying acrylic or drawing, the medium of oil suits her as she paints quickly and often makes sudden decisions about where the painting is going.

In 2022, she served as artist-in-residence at the Macedonia Institute, NY.

She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.

INÈS LONGEVIAL

Claudette, 2023

Oil on linen canvas

98.4 in. x 42.1 in. / 250 cm. x 107 cm.

Over her career, self-portrait has become her favorite genre but also her playground: The palette as well as the drawing allow her the freedom to follow a poetic and dreamy imagination. Her landscapelike faces unfold a candid, dreamlike universe that resonates with the outside world, which imprints its colors and moods. Inès Longevial has always been inspired by the variations of light as they transmit and capture an impression, a sensation, a feeling. Imbued with a melancholic sweetness that can be combined with acidulous tints, these portraits leave room, with the years, for a greater purity and a deepened work of the skin tone, the shades and the reliefs. Through these pieces of skin and details of posture, the artist seeks to reclaim her body, to assert her femininity. These silent and inhabited women also draw up the portrait of her relationship to the world and her condition as an artist.

Her career has enjoyed increasing success since her move to Paris in 2013 at the age of 23, with exhibitions in France, Germany, and the U.S. In 2020 Inès Longevial began a successful collaboration with Ketabi Bourdet Gallery, which also led to group shows at Christie’s in Paris and Almine Rech Gallery in New York and Brussels and, in late 2023, a solo show at its London location. In 2022, the magic hour, her first museum exhibition, was organized by the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Agen, her hometown, composed of more than sixty small, medium and large-format paintings and drawings, some of which were created specially for the site. Forthcoming exhibitions include her third solo exhibition at Ketabi Bourdet in Paris in October 2023 and her first one in Asia at Almine Rech Shanghai gallery in May 2024.
