Sa araw ng mga puso…

“I DO, I DO!” NG PAG-IBIG FUND IDINAOS

S

A ikawalong taon ay muling idinaos ang “I Do, I Do!

“This is how we celebrate Araw ng Pag-IBIG on Valentine’s Day. The mass wedding is our way of helping couples formalize their union and reminding them that Pag-IBIG Fund membership comes with benefits that can help in their lives. We are one with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s directive of helping Filipino families make the most of social benefits provided by government institutions like Pag-IBIG Fund,” ani Sec. Eduardo D. del Rosario, Chairperson ng Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) at Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees. Ngayong taon ay sabay-sabay na isinagawa ang “I Do. I Do!

Valley, Tarlac, Bulacan, Palawan, Bicol, Antique, Iligan City, General Santos City at Zamboanga City. “Since 2012, Pag-IBIG Fund has assisted 20,297 Filipino couples through this activity. The ‘Araw ng PagIBIG’ is a lighthearted way to capitalize on our name but there is the serious objective of encouraging more Filipinos to enjoy the benefits of being a PagIBIG Fund member. It is our vision for every Filipino worker to save with PagIBIG Fund, so they can have access to high-yield savings and affordable home loans,” paliwanag ni Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti.

kasal. Aniya, “marriage is a lifetime commitment.” “Ibig sabihin pang habangbuhay. Hindi lamang natin sini-celebrate and weeksary, monthsary.. Pinarangalan ang “I Do. I Do! Araw ng Pag-IBIG,” ng 1st Philippine Quill for a Government Communication Program mula sa International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines noong 2013 gayundin ang Bronze Award for Advocacy Communications sa ilalim ng kategoryang Responsible Parenthood sa Araw Values Award at kinilala sa isang TV show, ang Philippine Book of Records, dahil sa “most number of couples in a nationwide mass wedding,” noong 2014. New job openings in Eastern Europe bared by recruitment association THERE are thousands of new job openings now for Filipino workers in Eastern Europe according to one of the largest recruitment associations in the country the Philippine Association of Service Exporters Inc. (PASEI). PASEI conducted a marketing mission in Eastern Europe recently with the aim to look for new job openings for our skilled and unskilled Filipino workers amidst the growing dissatisfaction on the Middle East market where economic growth has been dictated by the rise and fall of crude oil prices. \Ms. Elsa Villa, president of PASEI announced that thousands of job opportunities

in Poland have opened up to Filipinos willing to work in manufacturing, fish and meat processing, information technology, and heavy-duty truck driving. There are thousands of jobs for skilled and unskilled workers especially in the manufacturing side and experience is not necessary in many of the jobs. Workers who have worked straight five years with one employer will be entitled to apply for residency and they can also bring in their families as long as their salaries can afford the standard of living. Salaries of skilled workers may reach two thousand euros or 124,000 pesos while unskilled workers range from

1,000-1,2,00 euros of over 6264,000 pesos each month. Villa also said that other countries in Central Europe, such as Croatia and the Czech Republic, as well as Eastern Europe, are “opening their doors for skilled and unskilled people. Recruitment consultant and migration expert warned Filipinos to deal only with licensed recruitment agencies and check if these agencies have accredited job orders for the countries in Eastern Europe who are now welcoming new migrant workers with their current workforce unable to keep up with their growing economies due to old age and low population growth.

Firearms, bullets seized at DHL

THE bureau of customs at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport seized firearms and live ammunition concealed inside “solar panel” and tool cart bound for Taiwan amounting to P500,000. Customs NAIA has intercepted a total of 8 pistol firearms (Glock 19-9MM; Heckler & Koch P2000 V3 Pistol), 20 ammunition magazines and 266 live ammunition’s in a warehouse in Pasay City from 2 outbound packages for Taiwan yesterday declared as solar panel. Firearms and ammunitions were discovered thru the profiling skills of BOC NAIA and subsequent X-ray examination of the shipments declared as “Solar Panel” and “Tool Cart”. Customs NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan said examiners and operatives are continuously trained on profiling illegal goods both inbound and outbound shipments. Exportation of firearms and ammunition thru fraudulent misdeclaration and without necessary permits constitute violation of Section 119A, 1400, 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Bureau of Customs will continue to protect the country against entry and exit of contrabands and remain vigilant to protect all inbound and outbound packages. JSY

The illegal drugs, NAIA Collector Mimel Manahan disclosed, were being concealed inside an air parcel shipment (with a declared value of US$500) consisting of 26 packages said to contain automobile mufflers and assorted spare parts. The packages, weighing around 13.1 kilos, were undergoing release procedures at the DHL warehouse at the NAIA when ordered impounded by BoC-NAIA officials. Per a statement from the Public Information & Assistance Division (PIAD), the drug shipment was flown in earlier from West Covina, California, USA. The shabu was discovered after the 26 packages were subjected to profiling and 100% physical examination by Customs examiners in coordination with representatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA). The corresponding criminal charges will be filed against the still-unidentified consignee and other accomplices by the PDEA. This shabu bust represents another feather in the cap for the men and women of the BoC-NAIA. In the 2018 annual report submitted to the Office of the Commissioner, Collector Manahan said the NAIA Customshouse was responsible for the seizure of some P300 million in smuggled shabu, cocaine, marijuana and Mogadon and Ecstasy pills. *******

There are persistent rumors that until now the position of Chief, Customs PIAD remains vacant. Totoo ba ito, KARREN NORONIO? This is because the person appointed to LOUIE LOGARTA assume the post simply refuses to report for work due to many, many reasons. Totoo ba ito, CONNIE FERNANDEZ ILAGAN? In the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the term for this is: Insubordination.

DANIEL, DI SINIPOT SI KATHRYN SA AMBASSADORS’ NIGHT NG FDCP

I

Ito ang itinuturing na Best Selling Film of All Time.

“Let’s forget the intrigues. Diego, my son is doing well.

The Baby O’Brien Show” at marami pang iba. *** Marami nga pala kaming nakadaupang-palad sa Ambassadors Night ng FDCP tulad nina Jek Jumawan, Maricel Balderama, Zig Dulay, Joselito Altarejos, Baron Geisler, Chuck Gutierrez, Babyruth Villarama, Dexter Macaraeg, Dani Ugali, Jun Lana, Perci Intalan, Kidlat Tahimik, Joel Lamangan, RS Francisco, Nick Tiongson, Bien Lumbera, Roland Tolentino, Tito Valiente, Dennis Evangelista, Mike Rapatan, Butch Franciso, Leon Miguel at marami pang iba. Mabuhay kayong lahat!

Tips to survive the Flu Season:

Prevention is always better than cure

INFLUENZA or flu is a seasonal virus that commonly occurs in tropical countries such as the Philippines. Influenza cases rise during the wet season but also thrived during the dry season when humidity and temperature are unusually high. In the Philippines, flu is felt all year round by Filipinos regardless of gender or age. People frequenting public areas such as transportation hubs, markets, entertainment centers, and amusement parks to include schools and offices are at risk of acquiring the virus. The virus is transmitted or spread in several ways such as; direct contact with infected individuals and direct contact with contaminated objects. Flu can also be transmitted when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks, spewing nasal and throat secretions into the air. The WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) recently warned the general public with the possibility of another “influenza pandemic” in the country. WHO studies reveal the shortages of influenza vaccines which may post serious concerns both to the Philippine government and to the public. Health experts therefore reiterated the need to broaden the information campaign on the importance of prevention of the spread of this virus, citing further that everyone is at risk of acquiring the virus anytime and

anywhere. People with low immune system ran more risks in acquiring the virus. Low immune system is associated with lack of vitamins, which is further aggravated by stress brought about by someone’s work environment as well as the tropical weather. Hence, taking the following tips will immensely reduce the risk of acquiring the influenza virus: 1. Avoid crowds during flu season 2. Disinfect contaminated surfaces 3. Wash hands with soap and water regularly 4. Exercise 5. Eat healthy and avoid intake of junk foods 6. Taking Flu shots 7. Intake vitamin and mineral supplements In summary, it is important for you to have a strong immune system in order for you to combat the virus. Along with following the tips as mentioned above, an immune system boosted by intake of Vitamin C can reduce your risk from acquiring the flu. BEWELL-C Sodium Ascorbate can provide the necessary vitamins and minerals to protect you from Influenza. BEWELL-C Sodium Ascorbate is non-acidic and safe to ingest in large quantities without upsetting your stomach. It is available in all Mercury Drug nationwide. Pag-IBIG Fund grants 21,000 socialized housing loans to low-wage earners in 2018 Pag-IBIG Fund released P8.36 billion for socialized housing in 2018, benefiting 21,389 borrowers who are minimumwage and low-income earners. “Pag-IBIG Fund released an all-time high of P 75.31 billion in home loans in 2018. P8.36 billion of this amount was for socialized housing. In terms of units, 24% of the 90,375 homes financed by Pag-IBIG Fund in 2018 were for low-income borrowers. Pag-IBIG Fund continues to heed the call of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to provide social benefits to more Filipinos and strengthened its position as a key mover in the BALAI (Building Adequate, Livable, Affordable and Inclusive) Filipino Communities Program of the government’s housing sector,” said Sec. Eduardo D. del Rosario, Chairperson of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) and Pag-IBIG Fund Board of Trustees. Pag-IBIG Fund Chief Executive Officer Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti explained that Pag-IBIG’s tax-exempt status enables the agency to subsidize the low rates for socialized housing loans and improve its programs to cater to the needs of the underserved sector. In 2017, Pag-IBIG Fund reduced the interest rate for socialized housing from 4.5% per annum to only 3% per annum for socialized housing units worth up to P450,000, which is the best rate in the socialized housing market. And while the price of socialized housing ceiling was raised by the HUDCC to P580,000 for horizontal housing projects in 2018 to improve the quality of affordable homes, officials of Pag-IBIG Fund decided to keep the rate low. Under its Affordable Housing Program which is exclusively for minimum-wage and low-income earners, Pag-IBIG still offers 3% per annum for loans up to P580,000. This means that qualified borrowers of the Affordable Housing Program will only have to pay P2,445.30 a month for the first five years of a P580,000 loan with a term of 30 years. “Pag-IBIG Fund takes care of the housing needs of the underserved sector who are usually shunned by banks. While the low rates might be unbelievable to some, our tax-exempt status and better than expected performance in 2018, allows Pag-IBIG Fund to give subsidized low rates to our members who earn minimum-wage. As long as we keep our taxexemption, our members, especially those who are minimum wage earners, can own a home at lower costs. While others are hiking their rates, we have reduced our rates six times in recent years. This is what Lingkod Pag-IBIG is all about – tapat na serbisyo, mula sa puso,” CEO Moti said.

For a minimum donation of P50, participants availed themselves of the “See-All-You-Can, Workshop-All-You-Can and Experience-All-You-Can” schemes. There were more than seventy 30-minute workshops on different art disciplines on the first day of the Pasinaya 2019 Open House Festival. Around 3,000 artists were given the opportunity to showcase their talents due to an extra day added in Pasinaya 2019. Photos by Kiko Cabuena and Orly Daquipil

“I commend our officers deployed at our ports of entry for a job well done. Because of your vigilance and alertness, you were able to turn away these sex offenders to protect fellow Filipinos from possible exploitation,” pahayag ni Commissioner Morente.

Charot! *****

GIVE BI ASSCOMM ALEGRE A BETTER AND CONDUCIVE OFFICE

Diyaryo NAIA TERMINAL 2 Pinoy RENOVATION PARA SA LAHAT

BIYERNES-LUNES • PEBRERO 15-18, 2019

A

TOTOO BANG MAY P64-B BUDGET?

Bakit napakalaki ng budget for renovation?

At tiyak magtatagal siyang

AIRPORT BLITZ JERRY YAP

BLITZ AIRPORT JERRY YAP

By the way, hindi ba natunugan ni BI Comm.
