Degmo offers a taste of home

For the 10th year running Hamish and Nell Wilson will welcome members of the Somali communities to their farm situated on the Welsh Hereford border.

It is where people can feed and milk goats, ride a horse and make ghee in the traditional Somali way using Somali utensils.

Hamish will be able to tell you exactly when and where each of the implements were made and by whom.

Degmo is an unique celebration of Somali culture - so unique that at one stage the Somaliland government sought Hamish’s help in setting up a similar project there.

This may not happen for many years as it is only here in the UK.

Degmo is a working organic farm and the organic halal lamb is there to enjoy.

Accommodation is in tents with all bedding and mattresses provided. Hamish and Nell hope to acquire more tents so that more people can enjoy their time there and make the project more sustainable.
