SAINT-TROPEZ THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION

Nestling on the Côte d’Azur, Saint-Tropez has long been synonymous with prestige and elegance. This small fishing village, once discreet, has been transformed into a sought-after seaside resort, embodying French refinement.

GULF OF SAINT-TROPEZ

AIRPORT: AN EXCLUSIVE SETTING

For travellers looking for fast, discreet access to this jewel of the Mediterranean, Saint-Tropez gulf airport is an ideal gateway. Situated between the villages of La Môle and Cogolin, this human-sized airport is just 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Saint-Tropez. With a state-of-theart infrastructure and open seven days a week all year round, it is perfectly suited to the needs of both business travellers and high-end holidaymakers. In 2023, the airport recorded more than 8,000 air movements, mostly helicopters, light aircraft and training flights.

THE PC-12: A CHAMPION ON THE LA MÔLE RUNWAY

With its 1,071-metre runway, SaintTropez gulf airport imposes specific constraints that limit access to traditional business jets. However, the PC-12 and its counterpart, the PC-24, stand out for their exceptional performance. In 2019, out of a total of 2,878 business aviation movements, 1,532 were carried out by Pilatus aircraft, including 1,476 PC-12s and 56 PC-24s. Their ability to take off and land over short distances and a variety of terrains makes these aircraft the preferred choice for getting to Saint-Tropez quickly, while optimising passenger comfort and efficiency.

Pilots wishing to land at La Môle must obtain special authorisation, requiring a training flight with a certified instructor. This requirement guarantees optimum safety and perfect mastery of local conditions.

A POPULAR AIRPORT FOR PILATUS OPERATORS

Among the most active operators at La Môle, Jetfly Aviation stands out for its impressive fleet of PC-12s and PC-24s, often recognisable by their Philippe Starck-designed liveries. With almost 500 movements a year, Jetfly is the airport’s leading business aviation operator. Its CEO, Cédric Lescop, says: ‘The PC-24 is the only jet capable of landing here with a maximum of eight passengers. We are proud to be the largest operator at this airport, with over 100 PC-24 landings already recorded.’

GULF OF SAINT-TROPEZ AIRPORT OPENING UP AN EXCEPTIONAL TERRITORY

An airport is not just another stop on a passenger’s journey. Our conviction and our daily commitment is to be the gateway, the place of welcome and hospitality, the mirror of our region and the reflection of its art of living. A condensed version of the legendary Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

A VIBRANT REGION

Wherever you come from in the world, Saint-Tropez, its gulf and its surroundings are emotional collectors, iconic landmarks, objects of desire and dreams. There are the personalities of the art world, the film stars, but also the shady lanes of the thousand-yearold stone villages, the quays where some of the most beautiful boats in the world are moored, the beaches, the places to party, to relax and, above all, the escapist landscapes. More than just a setting, it’s a way of life, an atmosphere, an impetus.

A DYNAMIC REGION

Whether you’re looking for peace and quiet, a festive explosion or business meetings, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez is the exclusive setting for extraordinary personalities. And while each year brings its own

share of celebrations, 2025 promises to be a great vintage, with the 75th anniversaries of the legendary Club 55 and the Tarte tropézienne. It will also be the year of the return of a number of events, including Côté Terre: the Harley EuroFestival, which has been suspended since 2018, and Côté Mer: after an absence of two years, the Loro Piana Giraglia, a meeting of prestigious and ultra-competitive yachts, with an increasingly international fleet. This nautical event will take place at the beginning of June, opening the season which traditionally ends with the return of the Sail GP international catamaran competition, the unmissable Voiles de SaintTropez, the biggest sailing event in the Mediterranean. The Gulf of Saint-Tropez is not only festive and sporty, but also very business-oriented. All year round, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez lives to the rhythm of professional and business meetings.

A TAILOR-MADE AIRPORT

As the gateway to this exceptional region, the Golfe de Saint-Tropez airport is also a tailor-made place of hospitality, reflecting its territory. In terms of environmental policy, it is one of the most efficient in France. With Airport Carbon Accreditation level 4+ certification, it reduces its emissions every year, regardless of traffic growth. Its concrete, daily commitment to preserving flora and fauna has earned it the Aéro Biodiversité level 2 label. And where there’s an exceptional area, there’s also an exceptional service. Here, people and teamwork, high standards at all times and a keen sense of customer satisfaction are at the heart of the reception and ground handling services. The airport has IS-BAH level 1 certification, guaranteeing operational excellence, a culture of risk management and continuous improvement.

A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA

While the area is exceptional and the airport is at your service, landing there and taking off from it is an unexpected experience. The airport is right opposite the château where Antoine de Saint-Exupéry spent some of his holidays as a child. And whenever he could, he enjoyed flying over it. There’s a bit of the Little Prince in the air here. Its magic, its poetry. How in the magical landscapes, between wooded hills and turquoise sea during the approaches. Really, landing in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez offers all the emotions in the world.

Some yachts exceed expectations… Because centuries of experience build excellence.

The PC-12 PRO also generates fewer CO 2 emissions and is additionally ready for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), enabling a greener future without sacrificing performance.

Already certified, deliveries of the PC-12 PRO will start in the third quarter of 2025.

46 AVIATION READY STEADY VERTIGO

46 Aviation is the result of two passions: air displays and historic planes. More than just orchestrating spectacular performances, the team also manage the restoration and operation of historical aircraft, returning them to airworthy condition, maintaining them and exhibiting them in all their glory. We meet Danielle Del Buono, a member of 46 Aviation who has realized her childhood dream of becoming a Wingwalker. Accompanied by her husband Emiliano, pilot and CEO of the company, she brings back the nostalgia and romantic spirit of the 1920’s barnstorming. An interview with our head in the clouds.

Could you introduce yourself to us.

I’m Danielle Del Buono, a professional Wingwalker for 46 Aviation Classics. My husband Emiliano is the pilot, CEO of 46 Aviation Classics, a PC-12 pilot for Fly 7 and also Swiss unlimited Aerobatic Champion.

Could you tell us a little about 46 Aviation Classics and your wingwalking act?

46 Aviation Classics are based in Sion, Switzerland. We perform the original style of wingwalking.

How did you get into wingwalking?

My mother and father took me to a local airshow at 6 years old. I was fascinated by the fantastic flying machines but mostly by the wingwalking act. The wingwalking reached out and grabbed my heart and I just knew from then on ‘That’s what I’m gonna do when I grow up!’ I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! There was a person on the top wing of a biplane and I couldn’t take my eyes off the show!

In 2007, when I was 18 years old, I discovered a British-based flying team was looking for a new team member to ride on the wings. After a few interviews and a flying audition, I was lucky enough to get the job. I became a professional wingwalker and worked with them for 9 years. It was a great experience and I made life-long friends and many happy memories. In 2014, whilst participating at Air14 Airshow in Payerne, Switzerland, I fell in love with Emiliano. Eventually I moved to Switzerland and we got married. We then had the opportunity to fly together on a Stearman operated by

46 Aviation. The aircraft had all the necessary modifications and we had the best experience. With Emiliano’s tail dragger, aerobatic and warbird flying experience combined with my airshow wingwalking knowledge, we were able to design an entertaining flying sequence and perform at airshows together since 2016. I now had the freedom to do the original style of wingwalking. Walking in between the wings, stepping over the wires, dancing and gliding gracefully on my sky horse! Here I am now in my 19th season of wingwalking and my 10th season with our own team 46 Aviation Classics.

Do you remember the first time wing walking and how you felt that day?

It felt incredible! I started in the front cockpit and looked in the mirror at my pilot and husband waiting for him to give me the ‘thumbs up’ to climb out. I proceeded to undo my cockpit straps and tidy them away carefully. I stood up on the seat and took a deep breath as I made my first step out on to the wing. The force of the wind was immense and I could feel the prop – wash fight against me. I knew it was going to be tough and take a lot of strength but I felt more determined than ever. I used the wires to hold on to and carefully stepped out further, placing my feet only on the ribs of the wing, navigating myself towards the javelin. I lay across the javelin, my position for the loop. It’s a great way to view the world go around. I felt so free! Also it was kinda romantic, walking out on the wing whilst my husband flies me! I was extremely excited and felt very lucky to have been given the opportunity,

since it had been a childhood dream. I was, of course, very nervous and was shocked by the strength of the wind. It’s like climbing a tree in a hurricane and I absolutely LOVED it!

Are you ever nervous when stepping out of your seat and on top of the wing?

I feel slightly nervous and have a butterfly feeling before every flight. Even now… but I believe this is a good thing, as it helps me to focus, concentrate and consider safety carefully.

How much training is required to go on top of the wing and perform those aerobatics?

I had to practise for weeks with the plane just on the ground, tracing my steps and preparing everything accurately. I walk out to the very far edges of the wing and have to methodically plan where to place my feet on the ribs so as not to damage the wing. The prop-wash and the wind are strong so you have to be prepared for a fight! All the while smiling, waving to the crowd and maintaining elegance and poise during the graceful demonstration!

Any airshow in Europe you haven’t displayed but would like to?

I would like to perform in Sardinia!

Could you tell us a little bit about the aircraft? What modifications have been made to allow for the wing-walking act?

The aircraft has a larger engine (450 hp) than the standard 220 hp Stearman’s. It has 4 ailerons, instead of the standard 2, improving the aircraft’s roll rate and agility. It has an inverted fuel and oil system allowing us to do an inverted pass. We have an environmentally friendly smoke system. We also have a certified wingwalking rig.

When do you start practising for the airshow season and how often do you practise?

As soon as the temperature permits, we start training and on a regular basis.

Could you tell us about your display? At what speeds and heights do you fly and how many G’s do you pull during your typical display?

I start off inside the cockpit and then climb up to the top wing and attach myself to the rig. I do this in front of the crowd so they can see me make this transition. We have a few passes where I perform an aerobic/dance style routine as the plane performs level passes and also stalls turns. We then fly an exciting inverted pass. I then unstrap from the rig and lay across the leading edge. Next I climb down and stand in front of the pilot’s cockpit on one leg and perform the ballet pose named the arabesque. The next pass, you will see me climb from the cockpit in between the wings of the biplane as I walk out to the javelin, which is halfway. I am here for a loop and a roll. I then walk out even further to the far edges of the wing and wave to the crowd. We then perform our most exciting and most popular move, where I hang upside down with my feet wrapped around the wing struts. Watch out for this move – It’s the best part of the show!!

For the final pass, I sit on the lower wing, waving goodbye to the crowd as the plane flies in a knife-edge configuration. Emiliano uses the plane (Boeing Stearman) as a workhorse to exhibit my wingwalking expertise and flies according to my needs and routine criteria. He carefully manages the aircraft’s energy and makes regular adjustments due to my movements, constantly altering the aircraft’s centre of gravity. Emiliano complements the show by blending it with his intense, accomplished aerobatic training, looping, rolling and diving through the sky aerial arena. We fly up to 125 knots, between 100 ft and 1000 ft depending on the manoeuvre, G-forces ranging between -1 to 3 G

What is the difference between wingwalking and wingriding?

Wingwalking is literally walking on and in between the wings and wingriding is when you are leaning against and strapped into the wingwalking rig/trapeze structure. During the inverted pass, I am strapped into the rig due to the negative G but for the majority of the show, I like to change positions on the aircraft performing the original and authentic style of wingwalking.

What steps do you take to make wing-walking safe? Do you use any safety harnesses or safety cables?

On the top wing, I have a certified wing-rack with a 5 point harness which is secured with a second locking system called a locking pin. This secondary action prevents the harness from being accidentally knocked open. For the entire duration of the display, I have a harness around my waist and I am connected to the plane with short safety lines (less than a meter in length). I am NEVER free or loose on the plane. I am ALWAYS attached. Emiliano is extremely experienced with flying tail draggers and also aerobatics. He is a pilot for Fly 7. He is also a Display Authorization Examiner and is the Swiss Aerobatic Champion in the unlimited category, so I am in safe flying hands! The plane is very well maintained and is certified and has been modified to accommodate for wingwalking capabilities. Our flight sequence has been thoughtfully planned out and considered and every time we fly, we discuss together the weather and wind direction and then we do a ‘walk through’ on the ground.

Where can we see you perform?

We mostly perform in Italy, France and Switzerland. We have also performed in Greece, Spain, Belgium, Turkey, the Czech

Republic, Hungary, Denmark and England. We will update our website with our calendar and keep you posted on social media closer to summer.

Do you have a website or social media where fans can reach you? Any final words to our readers?

Thank you for interviewing us. We look forward to meeting you and seeing you at airshows. Please do wave to me when we are performing, as I can see the waves from the sky and do come and say hello on the ground too. It’s always nice to meet others passionate about aviation.

TRAINING HOLDS THE KEY MEETING WITH RAINER SCHLUESSELBERGER, MANAGING

DIRECTOR AT AMST

Since 1982, AMST, a global pioneer in flight simulation, crew training, and aeromedical research, has been preparing flight crews for any possible situation. Rainer Schluesselberger leads us on a tour of the PC-12 Full Flight Simulator, a cutting-edge piece of equipment that is used to train the pilots of the Fly 7 fleet. The goal is straightforward: to make every journey safer. This is a journey through a successful partnership, driven by innovation, security, safety and excellence.

Can you briefly introduce AMST and yourself and tell us about your career?

AMST is a family-owned business founded in 1982. We operate across three core business units: Aeromedical and Search and Rescue, Visual Systems, and Aviation. I joined AMST in 2009 and have held various positions across departments to build broad experience and a deep understanding of our operations. At the end of 2017, we had the opportunity to acquire a visual system manufacturer with whom we had been collaborating since 2012. I was primarily responsible for overseeing the acquisition, as well as leading the integration and expansion of this new division. That same year, we were introduced to a company that had developed an entirely new flight simulation software. Recognizing its potential, we acquired its assets in 2018 and established a new company in the Netherlands, marking our entry into the type-specific simulation market. Today, AMST is an approved supplier for Airbus Helicopters. We are now thrilled to continue this journey in collaboration with Fly 7 and Pilatus on the PC-12 project.

How did the collaboration between AMST and Fly 7 for the creation of this simulator come about?

AMST has a long lasting relationship with Pilatus and Fly 7 is one of the biggest customers of Pilatus for the PC-12 and the PC-24. During EATS, an airline conference, we met Stéphane Bailly from Fly 7, and we got along well right from the start. This connection was further strengthened when we later met Yves Roch in Lausanne. Developing the PC-12 is an exciting opportunity, as it allows us to leverage the full range of technology available within the company to build the PC-12 Full Flight Simulator. It also gives us the chance to work more closely again with Pilatus—a great partner that develops truly impressive aircraft.

What were Fly 7’s main expectations for this project?

Fly 7 expected the project to help it cope with a growing fleet and a larger group of company and customer pilots by bringing training in-house, so that the high flight-safety standards Fly 7 stands for can be maintained and steadily improved into the future.

What will be the technical and regulatory challenges involved in designing a Pilatus-certified simulator?

Developing the flight model and integrating the avionics involves several technical challenges, such as achieving precise flight dynamics simulation and ensuring seamless communication between systems. By leveraging our extensive experience from previous collaborations with Pilatus, we are well-equipped to navigate these complexities. Our expertise enable us to deliver innovative solutions that enhance performance, reliability, and safety in aviation technology.

Can you explain the specific features of the simulator that you developed for Fly 7? How does this simulator faithfully reproduce the real flight conditions on Pilatus aircraft?

This simulator will be one of the few modern systems where we maintain control over the majority of the source code. This gives us the ability to develop the product more efficiently and with higher quality, as fewer interfaces need to be managed compared to traditional simulator architectures. Additionally, developing the flight model in close collaboration with Pilatus ensures an accurate representation of the PC-12’s flight performance.

One of the key advantages of our simulator is the proprietary simulation software, which is more reliable and responsive than those used by many of our competitors. Combined with a high-quality visual system and the ability to demonstrate spatial disorientation, this will significantly enhance training effectiveness.

How does the installation of this simulator contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and the preservation of the environment?

By using the simulator, the amount of flight hours on the real aircraft has a tremendous reduction, also stalls don´t have to be flown on the aircraft anymore. The classtraining can be fully done on the simulator. This means that no more aircraft training for initial and recurrent training is needed.

How does this tool improve pilot training and safety compared to real flight training?

The simulator provides a highly controlled and repeatable training environment, allowing pilots to safely experience and respond to a wide range of scenarios that would be too risky, expensive, or impractical to replicate during real

flight. These include system failures, emergency procedures, and adverse weather conditions. In particular, the ability to simulate spatial disorientation and night vision scenarios offers valuable training experiences that are difficult to achieve safely in actual flight. The high-fidelity flight model— developed in collaboration with Pilatus— ensures realistic handling, while the fast and reliable simulation software allows for smooth and immersive training sessions. Overall, the simulator enhances pilot proficiency, decision-making, and confidence, leading to improved safety and preparedness in real-world operations. From all of this it is hopefully obvious that we are very excited about this collaboration and look forward to working with Fly 7 and Pilatus.

VENICE SIMPLON ORIENT-EXPRESS, A BELMOND TRAIN WHEN TRAVELLING BECOMES ART

The Belmond Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is a train that has defied the test of time, leaving behind a whiff of enigma and an untainted legend. It invites you on a journey through history, weaving a tale along the tracks. From one historic carriage to the next, a grandiose setting unfolds as the train winds its way. The Art Deco aesthetic shines through, yet remains true to itself, elevating the codes of modern luxury. The whistle blows, and off you go! Next stop : the sky is the limit.

REVIVING THE MYTH

The story of the Venice SimplonOrient-Express dates back to the last century, in 1977. Determined to revive the golden age of luxury travel, English entrepreneur James B. Sherwood purchased two Art Deco sleeping cars, imbued with the spirit of the OrientExpress, at a Monte Carlo auction. He set out to breathe new life into the legendary train and travelled to the four corners of the world in search of these carriages steeped in history. Five years later, the Belmond Venice Simplon-Orient-Express left northern France behind, heading for the Serenissima. For the first passengers to board this rails-bound gem, the journey promises to be unforgettable: the most beautiful landscapes of Europe unfold before their eyes, as if framed in a painting. Anything seems possible in such a romantic setting.

This moving palace, a stage for the most remarkable encounters and tales, continues to expand the imagination of all. Writers, filmmakers, nobility, bold explorers, and indefatigable travel enthusiasts have all played a role in imbuing these shimmering blue carriages with an unmatched soul.

A TRAIN CRAFTED FROM THE FABRIC OF FANTASY

The Belmond Venice Simplon-OrientExpress is more than just a means of transport; it is a monument. As you move from one car to another, masterful artistry and expertise are showcased, highlighting the creative fervour that has earned the Orient Express its renowned status. The interior of the train is adorned with lacquered woodwork, shimmering fabrics, intricate marquetry, and glasswork. The passage of time seems to pause as one moves through the carefully orchestrated cabins, restaurants, and bar carriage. The blend of 1920s opulence and modern luxury creates a truly unique and captivating atmosphere.

Since March, the train has even been adorned with a new sleeper car, the Observatory, which was designed by the renowned artist JR. Designed as a genuine invitation to explore, the car pushes the limits of space, multiplying it to create cleverly designed small environments: a bedroom with a free-standing bath, a connected bathroom, a living room, a library and a secret tea room…

The Observatory takes inspiration from both astronomical observatories and Renaissance cabinets of curiosities. It contains a host of personal ‘art objects’ or souvenirs, just waiting to be discovered. Many of them will remain mysterious, but some will undoubtedly be revealed during this journey, which can be described as both a physical and an intellectual one, as it leads us into the imagination of a visionary artist.

EXPERIENCE ABOVE ALL

As the night falls, the atmosphere transforms and the Belmond Venice SimplonOrient-Express unveils itself. Step inside the renowned car 3674, where the grand piano resonates and lively conversations echo. From the dining cars to the champagne bar, a festive mood fills the air as the carriages glide through the night. The Michelin-starred chef Jean Imbert, behind the stove, combines the rich heritage of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express with his own passion for fresh seasonal produce, creating moments of culinary perfection in motion. The chef’s new concept is expressed throughout the menu and the train’s culinary experience. HIGHLIFE

HIGHLIFE

FRÉDÉRIC TRAEGER THE ART OF LIVING ACCORDING TO MASTERCRAFT

From his birth in Geneva to his childhood spent on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, Frédéric Traeger has had a deep affection for water. When he discovers water sports, it is love at first sight : his passion would never leave him. Becoming European wakeboard champion seven times, then world champion in Orlando in 1995, Frédéric Traeger left competition behind to represent MasterCraft in French-speaking Switzerland. In 2008, he set up a company in Lutry dedicated to the sale and hire of those aquatic jewels. For the former champion, Mastercraft cannot be reduced to simple boats; it’s above all a lifestyle and a source of unforgettable experiences.

Can you tell us more about your passion for water sports? What impact has your sporting career had on your life?

Since I was very young, I’ve always had an affinity with water sports. When my parents moved to Estavayer-le-Lac, in order to take over a waterfront restaurant, we ended up with a boat. That was the beginning of an adventure : I started water-skiing and I fell in love with it. Since then, I’ve based my whole life around it. I first joined the ranks of the best European water skiers in combined slalom, jump and tricks, before discovering wakeboarding in 1986. At first, it was impossible to make a living from my passion. I worked during the winter season so that I could devote my summers to water sports. Then, little by little, thanks to my good results and the support of sponsors such as MasterCraft and Red Bull, I was able to take the plunge. During my sporting career, I’ve travelled a lot and met some absolutely brilliant people all over the world… If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing. When I stopped competing, I continued to promote my sponsors while moving into sales, distribution and marketing. Promoting MasterCraft in French-speaking Switzerland quickly turned into a full-time activity. That’s how OffAxis came to be.

How would you define your company? What is your field of action?

The company’s main activity is the sale of MasterCraft boats dedicated to water sports. Our expertise also enables us to act as brokers for other brands: we guide our customers, advise them and help them find a mooring in the harbour… We make it a point of honour to accompany our customers from one end of their purchasing journey to the other. OffAxis also offers a rental service. Over the last ten years or so, we’ve greatly expanded our range of events. In Lutry, we provide our customers with two boats, with or without a pilot. People call on us to create an experience for company outings, afterwork parties, bachelorette parties, stag parties or birthdays. For a long time, OffAxis also organized wakeboard and wakesurf competitions open to all: Come & Ride. In a sense, it was a way of passing on everything that wakeboarding has given me. The idea was to create days of celebration around water sports, just for the fun of it. Today, the events we organize are partners and their customers oriented. We want them to discover MasterCraft and the pleasures of water sports.

We understand that MasterCraft holds a special place for you and your company: what makes this brand so special?

Ever since I started out, I’ve had a preference for MasterCraft. The brand stands out for its modern, timeless hulls, and above all for its constant quest for innovation. For both wakeboarding and wakesurfing, the boats generate an exceptional wave, as versatile as it is powerful, thanks to the brand’s patented ‘Surf Star’ system. It’s often tempting to draw a parallel between a MasterCraft and a beautiful car. With the XStar, we find the excellence of a Bugatti or a Koenigsegg; something truly out of the ordinary. The brand’s quest for excellence is what really sets it apart.

Is there a model that particularly appealed to you?

At the start of my career, the ProStar was the undisputed benchmark for water ski boats. Then, in 1999, the XStar model marked the beginnings of wakeboarding and,

more recently, wakesurfing. The model has become the flagship of the brand and has been the embodiment of virtually every innovation over the last 25 years. The latest generation of XStar, unveiled last January, represents a veritable revolution within the brand. This model, with its outstanding performance, reaches a new level of excellence: a bigger, higher, more powerful wave, a 6.2-litre turbocharged V8 engine with over 630 bhp, a go-kart-like driving sensation, unrivalled comfort with a top-level finish, 26 speakers and 4,700 W of sound for incredible acoustics, and much more… At the same time, despite its weight and power, the boat is also capable of creating a softer wave, more conducive to introducing children or lightweights to the thrill of gliding. Whatever the case, this really is an extraordinary boat in every sense of the word! If you’d like to find out more about the XStar 2025 or experience it for yourself, I invite you to visit the OffAxis website.

How would you define the MasterCraft lifestyle?

For me, MasterCraft is much more than just boats, it’s a way of life: unforgettable moments shared with family and friends on the water, an invitation to experience unique sensations. Our motto at OffAxis is: «We live only once». You never know what the future will bring, so make the most of every moment. For my part, I usually say that I’m not selling a boat, but an experience and memories. When I see my customers with a smile plastered to their lips, it’s great. We get them to try out a new board, a longboard - for a super-zen feeling - and then we let the magic happen: these moments of pure pleasure are exceptional.

When did your partnership with Fly 7 begin?

Yves Roch is a long-standing friend. We met during discussions about wake boats, and very quickly realised that

our respective customers often shared the same passions and the same quest for excellence. So we decided to team up to organize events that would offer our joint customers exceptional experiences and bring them into our respective worlds. To give you an example, two years ago, to mark the inauguration of Fly 7’s PC-12 simulator, we exhibited a MasterCraft on their premises where the simulators are located. The last event we organized together was last September. In the heart of a beautiful property, with their feet in the water, Fly 7 and our other partners took their customers on a wakesurfing and longboarding discovery tour. These are always great moments when we try to make our customers dream; we position ourselves at the junction between their different passions: private aviation, the pleasures of water sports and sometimes even motoring.

LA RONDE DES BAISERS AUTOMATON: A COLLABORATION WITH CHANTAL THOMASS

Ten of the motifs are hand-sculpted gold appliqués mounted on a rotating peripheral disc that, like the rest of the animation, glides beneath the hour dial. The eleventh motif is hand-painted—along with Chantal Thomass’s signature—just below the Jaquet Droz logo at 12 o’clock, flanked by two gold hands. Together, these details pay homage to elegance and to the maison’s watchmaking expertise.

50 YEARS OF GRAFF BUTTERFLY CELEBRATING TRANSFORMATIONAL BEAUTY & AN ENDLESS EVOLUTION

Graff pays tribute to one of its most emblematic designs, celebrating its fiftieth anniversary this year, with new Haute Joaillerie creations inspired by one of nature’s most captivating creatures.

The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the Butterfly collection.

An iconic silhouette that is constantly evolving, and over time has become synonymous with the famous House of Haute Joaillerie founded by Laurence Graff. From its first appearance in 1975 in the form of pendants adorned with elegant diamonds, to the reinterpretation of the famous ‘Hair and Jewel’ photo in 2013 with a brooch capturing the moment when a butterfly delicately lands, to a multitude of Butterfly watches reminding us of the precious nature of time, this remarkable motif has never ceased to evolve. On these creations, each butterfly is designed and shaped to represent the moment when its wings seem to be suspended in midflight – frozen for eternity in diamonds. Today, the Maison Graff butterfly has become a symbol of transformation, freedom, power and beauty, inspiring a new generation of jewelry enthusiasts and collectors.

To mark this exceptional anniversary, on 20 March 2025, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere, Maison Graff unveiled a new campaign dedicated to its Butterfly Haute Joaillerie collection. It showcased a number of exceptional pieces, all designed and crafted in Graff’s London atelier, starting with a sumptuous necklace adorned with 57.13 carats of strikingly intense and remarkably deep-coloured pavé emeralds in a magnificent snow setting. A dazzling 5.04-carat emerald quail diamond sits at the heart of this composition, radiating a formidable kaleidoscope of butterflies.

Another creation features magnificent butterflies with pavé-set wings, also in a snow setting, enhanced by oval stones at their centre. Arranged at different angles along an elegant row of pavé diamonds, they flutter gracefully around the neck until they reach a pear-shaped drop diamond. A bracelet takes up these same codes, with a fine row of pavé diamonds punctuated by five delicately arranged butterflies. Haute Joaillerie earrings complete the ensemble, featuring two diamond butterflies set off by perfectly matching pear-cut diamond pendants. Finally, in a third set, a delicate flight of butterflies in pear-cut and marquise-cut diamonds blossoms along an elegant curve paved with snow-set diamonds, giving rise to a Haute Joaillerie necklace with a fluid, refined design. At its heart, a 5.02-carat emerald-cut diamond immediately catches the eye, while other butterflies seem to flutter downwards. Graff’s master craftsmen have meticulously set and angled the wings of each butterfly to catch and reflect the maximum amount of light, creating a striking sparkle in an almost white gold setting.

For François Graff, CEO of Graff, the evolution of the Graff Butterfly embodies the ethos of Graff. ’We transform, reimagine and redefine what is possible across every aspect of the jewellery-making process in a relentless pursuit of perfection to create magnificent treasures – the most fabulous jewels in the world. We are proud to celebrate this momentous milestone, which exemplifies our standing as the original creators of diamond history.’

Anne-Eva Geffroy, Graff’s Design Director, added: ‘Jewellery creations inspired by the Graff Butterfly harness the exquisite beauty of one of nature’s most captivating creatures – a silhouette that continues to excite our imaginations and spark our creativity. Every jewellery piece is designed and crafted to inspire the wearer, an ever-present reminder of their opportunity for transformation and ability to fly.’ Since its launch in 1975, the Graff butterfly has evolved, giving rise to many different interpretations, such as the Silhouette and Pavé versions. These are exceptional Haute Joaillerie creations, all set with the finest Graff diamonds. SKNIFE

EDEN-ROC RIVIERA COLLECTION

The Hôtel du Cap in Antibes has chosen Sknife as its exclusive partner for the creation of an exceptional collection of cutlery inspired by the marine world. Considered one of the most prestigious establishments in the world, the Hôtel du Cap embodies absolute excellence in the hotel industry.

SKNIFE, 10 YEARS ON THE ROAD TO SUCCESS

Sknife is celebrating 10 years of playing a pioneering role in the craft of Swiss cutlery. For a decade, the Biel-based manufacturer has been synonymous with precision and perfection. Among the 4 international design awards, the ’TableWare International Award of Excellence 2022’′ in London was awarded to sknife for the best cutlery in the world.

THE CRAFT OF KNIFEMAKING WITH THE PRECISION OF A WATCH

It is not for nothing that the headquarters of our sknife knife factory is in Biel, the city of watchmaking: the manufacture of our Swiss cutlery and pocket knives resembles the precision of a luxury watch. We work with the same attention to detail - our knives and cutlery are in fact highend watches without a movement. What’s more, the special steel alloy is also used by the biggest watchmakers.

SUITABLE FOR GASTRONOMY, EVEN BY THE SEA

Due to a new surgical steel with nitrogen instead of carbon, the result is a four times higher corrosion resistance and high hardness. In addition, we use a process unique in Switzerland to stabilise the wooden handles. Our knives and cutlery are thus suitable for use in gastronomy. The Hôtel du Cap-EdenRoc has commissioned Sknife to create an exclusive collection of custom- made cutlery with midnight blue handles, a collection inspired by the azure blue of the Mediterranean. www.sknife.com

AT THE CROSSROADS OF THE CLOUDS

Being a Fly 7 pilot may seem like a small thing to you, but to them it means a lot. They don’t just hold the controls of an aircraft, they celebrate the art of living well in the air. To better understand what this means, three seasoned pilots answered questions that were sometimes playful but always full of curiosity about what lies behind their dark glasses, high-tech cockpits and the cloud route. The result is sometimes funny, often poetic and always passionate!

THE CALL FROM THE SKYVOCATION OR CHANCE?

Our three aviators tell us about their childhood and their dreams, nurtured by the people around them and their artistic tastes. For Marc Dirlewanger, it all started with his brother in the cockpit with his uncle, a pilot with Crossair. Great memories of flying across the Alps from Lugano (TI). Passion always catches up with us.

Yves Girard has turned his childhood dream into a reality. In the age of Top Gun, how could he not imagine himself as Tom Cruise? This film convinced him, the day before he was due to leave for the French Air Force. You can’t escape your destiny! As for Stéphane Chaintreuil, a childhood bedroom full of model planes inspired him, at the age of 9, to try his hand at flying. A first flight in a Cap 10, a two-seater aerobatic plane, combined with reading ‘Le Grand Cirque’, a book in which Pierre Clostermann recounts his memories of being a fighter pilot, and his dream became his life.

Their first flights? Those were unforgettable moments… ‘Again!’ sums up Stéphane. ‘Awe’, says Marc. And for Yves? Three breathtaking memories - from his

first solo night flight on a Fouga Magister to the Mirage 2000 and his selection flight for the Patrouille de France - but only one word: ‘Waow!

THREE DRIVERS, AS MANY FACETS EXPECTED… OR NOT

Our pilots don’t just glide with wings; they cultivate the art of the exceptional. While Stéphane Chaintreuil was a C130 pilot in the French air force, he was mobilised in an emergency at night, in Libreville, to repatriate wounded from Bangui, facing difficult weather conditions which, despite their danger, offered a striking spectacle that he has not forgotten.

Marc Dirlewanger, an accomplished pilot and musician, admits it: music and piloting share rigour and precision, but also a continuous momentum that sometimes requires rapid decisions and a degree of improvisation in the face of the unexpected.

As for Yves Girard, it wasn’t until he joined business aviation that he shared his cockpit with a co-pilot for the first time, discovering a new way of flying.

THE PLEASURE OF FLYING ACCORDING TO FLY 7

Who said aviators weren’t poets?

All three praise the variety offered by Fly 7: from grass runways to international airports, from business passengers to medical repatriations. And above all, the art of landing where others rarely do: in Saanen, Fairoaks or La Môle.

And if you’d like to get on board with these Mavericks of everyday life… Yves will be offering you a flight from Nice to Gstaad to fly over the Baie des Anges, flirt with Mont Blanc and experience a magical approach between the peaks of Saanen.

Stéphane will be imagining a Venice Lido - Saanen, between the lagoon and the snow-capped peaks. Marc will take you to Venice, for the Alpine crossing, the grass runway and the approach over the Venice lagoon, along the Lido island.

But they share the same feeling; they live within the benevolent cocoon of Fly 7, despite the ups and downs of a welcome growth.

COCKPIT EXPRESSBEHIND THE SCENES…

A ritual before take-off?

Stéphane gives his aircraft a friendly pat down, just as you would a horse. Yves, more conventional, concentrates on the checklist. Marc? He’s adaptable, but never superstitious.

Music for a night flight?

Sinatra for Marc, Worakls for Stéphane. Yves politely declines and replies with a sense of humour: ‘A chief-pilot who listens

in flight… his credibility is going to take a hit!

Window or corridor?

The three of them hesitate… The heart says porthole, but reason - or comfortsometimes leans towards the corridor.

Dawn or dusk?

The consensus is clear: twilight is winning the day. Slower, more enveloping, almost meditative, it seems to suspend time.

And flying with a celebrity?

Yves just wants a passenger who will be amazed by his communion with the clouds, whoever he may be. Stéphane is dreaming of Bruce Dickinson, lead singer (and aviator) of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden, for the rhythm he gave to his adolescence and for chatting between pilots!

Marc, on the other hand, plays his personal note: always to music. His best flying companion? Unquestionably Jacob Collier, an unrivalled multi-instrumentalist… as long as he can improvise a ‘four hands’ on the first piano that comes along.

AIRSTRIP IN SIGHT? ROGER!

Whether they’re crossing the skies over the Alps or flying over the city lights on a winter’s evening, our pilots share the same humility in the face of the immensity of the sky. At Fly 7, we don’t just travel, collect fragments of eternity… with humour, love and pride.

BEYOND BORDERS

KATSUHIKO TOKUNAGA AIR-TO-AIR PHOTOGRAPHY

For almost 40 years, the photographer Katsuhiko Tokunaga has had his head in the clouds. He is not only a true master of air-to-air photography, but also one of the few who can choreograph photo shoots in zero gravity. Name a jet and chances are high that Katsuhiko Tokunaga has photographed it already. His passion lifts him through the sky all over the world in search of the perfect shot. Meeting in the middle of the air.

Can you tell us about your carrer and how you came to photography?

I was a «Spotter» at the beginning. I just went to the airfield to watch airplanes and take pictures for myself. My career as a professional photographer began while I was still at university. Japan had a particular aviation boom then, and many publications sought photos and articles. This was a time before the internet and even fax machines existed, so everyone was hungry for information. For this reason, even though I was still a student, I was already getting assignments in Japan and foreign countries.

Why did you choose to specialize in air-to-air shots?

I didn’t start air-to-air photography with any particular intention, but since aircraft are essentially things that work in the sky, I guess it was natural that I ended up in this field.

How do you prepare for an air-to-air photo shoot?

Once an aircraft has taken off, it must land. This means that shooting must be carried out within the limited flight time and cannot be interrupted partway through.

Also, flying is expensive, so it should be done efficiently. For this reason, there is almost no time to adjust things in the air. The first step is to hold a briefing with the pilot before takeoff to decide the details of the shooting in advance.

What are the technical and logistical challenges involved in an in-flight shoot

As mentioned, you prepare everything before takeoff to ensure the shoot goes perfectly. However, since aircraft fly in three-dimensional space in the air, many uncertainties and unexpected things can happen. The most significant factor is the weather. Dealing with these things appropriately is one of the biggest challenges.

What equipment do you use? Are there any specific settings you prefer?

In the past, cameras were vulnerable to temperature and G-force changes, so special equipment modifications were necessary. However, today, the reliability of the equipment has significantly increased, and it is now stronger than yourself. In other words, if the environment is one in which the photographer can survive, the equipment will work. You do not need to use any special equipment.

Have you ever experienced a particularly dangerous or unexpected situation in flight?

Again, there are many uncertainties in the air, including the weather. The basis of aerial photography is to be prepared to avoid dangerous situations no matter what the circumstances. The number one priority is for all aircraft to land safely, and in extreme cases, even if it means not being able to take any photos, you will abort the flight and land if you feel it is dangerous.

Beyond aesthetic, what message do you want your photos to convey?

Aircraft are inherently beautiful, but I strive to capture the dynamism of flight, their harmony with the background, and the unique characteristics of each aircraft. Although this is not directly related to airto-air photography, it is important to illustrate the relationship between the pilots who fly them and the mechanics who maintain them.

What encounter or moment has had the greatest impact on you

Aerial photography is a big industry. It requires the participation and trust of many people to materialize. Ultimately, it is the job of the pilots of the cameraship, the aircraft being photographed, and the photographer, but you cannot take the picture alone.

Also, unlike many other types of photography, you do not photograph the situation that is happening there but rather create that situation together with the pilots and then take the picture. It is a team sport that combines the pilots’ flying skills with your photography skills, and the satisfaction when everything goes well is high.

Which artwork are you the most proud of?

Each flight has a different aircraft and shooting environment, making comparisons difficult. However, as a professional photographer, I feel a greater sense of satisfaction when I am able to take the kind of photos that my clients are looking for rather than just being satisfied with myself.

Can you tell us about your collaboration with Jetfly?

I have been photographing for Pilatus aircraft for many years, and my relationship with Jetfly began when they started operating the PC-24 directly through Gregory Le Moigne, a well-known French film director, who introduced me to his friend Cedric Lescop, CEO of Jetfly.

AXEL BERRIER ON THE ROAD AGAIN

When Axel Berrier (former co-owner and former master distributor of niche perfumes in the Middle East) took to the wheel of his Porsche 964 DKR on the starting line of the Dakar Classic in January 2025, it was the beginning of a dream… At 65, this adventurer at heart realizes that there are certain things in life that he doesn’t want to miss out on. He intends to live his passion for motoring to the full. Proudly wearing the sky blue and orange of Gulf – his iconic sponsor -, he set out on the roads of the Saudi desert. Here’s a look back at his epic journey through the dunes.

Where does your passion for motor sport come from?

Two years ago, I did a sort of life review. I said to myself: Axel, you’re 63 years old, you’ve had a great career, but there are still dreams you haven’t fulfilled. It’s now or never! My father, who was a doctor and a racing driver in his spare time, took part in rallies. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. As a child, I used to accompany him to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and during the night race, I could recognize all the cars by the sound of their engines. When I moved to Dubai at the age of 40, I discovered something extraordinary: the desert. We started going on weekend drives with friends, driving for two or three hours in the middle of the dunes, and I liked it straight away. From the family outing in the car, I moved on to the quad, a more physical, sportier machine that can climb almost any dune… We were a bunch of mates scouring the great dunes of the Emirates. There’s nothing like it to clear the head after a busy working week…

In 2004, I discovered the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge – a reduced version of the Dakar over one week. The first time (I took part as co-driver with one of my best friends), we were both panicked and exhilarated; it was all new! To find ourselves in the middle of champions like Stéphane Peterhansel, Luc Alphand, Andrea Mayer… It was impressive, but we went all the way 3 times.

What prompted you to take part in the Dakar Classic?

That first experience at the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge triggered something in me and I absolutely wanted to continue along that path. Unfortunately, I was quite busy with my business. You know, when you do rallies and you want to perform well, you have to take part in at least 3 races a year. Between the preparation and the races, the Dakar takes you almost two months, even two and a half months a year. The day I decided to sell my company’s shares, I said to myself that it was now or never to live my passion to the fullest. I set about it at my own level, without any pretensions. I don’t have the experience of a Nasser Al-Attiyah or a Guillaume de Mévius, but I was there to have fun. Being of a certain age, the Dakar Classic option seemed perfect to me. The Dakar was Thierry Sabine, Hubert Auriol, Cyril Neveu, René Metge… I’d always had these images in my head.

I told myself that I absolutely had to take part, that I had to try my luck. I couldn’t pass up this race. The physical preparation with 2 coaches over a period of 9 months was the cement that kept me in the physical shape I needed for this nonstop 2-week race with just one day of rest.

And no race without a car! How did you come to choose the Porsche 964 DKR?

I wanted to make my mark and, being a fervent ‘Porschiste’, it was inconceivable that I would take part in the Dakar with another brand. I wanted to drive a car that was synonymous with sporty chic and vintage, but that also echoed a spirit of adventure. The 964 DKR was the winner! What’s more, my co-driver Jérémy Athimon and I came up with the idea of approaching the Gulf brand to sponsor us. In the collective imagination, Gulf is Jacky Ickx, it’s Le Mans, it’s Steve McQueen, it’s all that period. Even though the Gulf brand has now built its universe around F1, we asked them to highlight the adventurous side of the brand. I sent them photos of the car, the design of which had been carefully studied to match their image. It hit the nail on the head.

How did you meet Jérémy Athimon? What can you tell us about your partnership

To bring this ambitious project to fruition, I wanted to surround myself with competent people. While doing some research, I came across his garage in Nantes and discovered that he had already modified Porsches for previous Dakar Classic rallies. We had to find a 964 C4 on the market, strip the car completely bare, reinforce all the bodywork, add roll bars, fit suspension adapted to hostile terrain and change the gearbox… We touched everything, except the engine, which was so reliable with excellent torque! It was a huge job that took over 9 months. I was lucky enough to meet Jérémy: a 964 holds no secrets for him. He started tinkering with a 911 at the age of 16 in his grandparents’ garage, and by the age of 25 he was already one of the best Porsche mechanics in France. Having both a co-driver and the mechanics of this calibre at your side during a race is a huge advantage.

In the race, Jeremy is a real ‘Swiss Army knife’, perfectly able to read a roadbook, decode any suspicious noises in the car and think of any improvements to the car for the next day! As a driver, this really allows you to focus on demanding driving, keeping one eye on the cruise control and the other on the road. Our first adventure began on the Rallye des Pionniers, which is run on the clock and not on regularity,

like the Dakar. So we went to Morocco, in October 2024, to get to grips with the car, to sort things out between the driver and co-driver so that we could get to the Dakar more serenely. We finished third in our category.

What were the major challenges you faced on the road

The most difficult part of this race is, as I said, regularity: it consists of going from point A to point B, several kilometres away, in a set time. If you arrive at point B early or late, you are penalized. What’s more, point B is usually a dangerous place, so you have to slow down. From sunrise, everything is planned. At the start of the bivouac, you are given the roadbook and set off on a route that must be completed at the minimum time. At the end of the liaison, you arrive at the first stage. This may be a navigation test, a dune-crossing test or a regularity test. Everything follows on from each other as the rally progresses. Between the liaison stages and the races, we cover around 700 kilometres a day. We drive almost non-stop from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The greatest challenge as a driver is to stay concentrated right up to the finish line. The slightest mistake, going off course, the slightest deviation will be paid for in cash. It’s real mental gymnastics. I’ve got one eye on my cruise control, the other on the road and my ears to the ground listening to my co-driver.

What do you remember most? What anecdote would you like to share with our readers?

Honouring Gulf and its favourite driver, the great Jacky Ickx. We were lucky enough to see Jacky Ickx, a Dakar Classic enthusiast, come at 6 a.m. at the start of the bivouac to sign our Gulf Porsche 964 DKR. Back at the bivouac in the evening, I taped up the car so that his signature would remain on the bodywork. Once the car was back in the garage in France, Jeremy dismantled the door and sent it to me in Dubai as a souvenir of the rally… There was also the meeting with the Saudi Minister for Sport, Abdelaziz ben Turki al-Fayçal, which will remain engraved in my memory. He told us that he’d fallen head over heels for the look of the 964 DKR Gulf and was fascinated by its history. It was destiny! The Minister was himself the owner of the new Porsche Dakar. A rich moment, for sure!

What are your plans for the future?

The year 2025 will be devoted to two races in Morocco: the Merzouga1000 Classique in March and the Rallye des Pionniers in October. In 2026, I also plan to take part in the Africa Eco Race, which is known as ‘old Dakar’. Starting in Monaco, we cross all of Morocco, all of Mauritania, and we finish at Lac Rose, in Dakar. We’ve also bought our own Mercedes 6 × 6 assistance truck and are virtually self-sufficient, with a mechanic and driver as well. We’ll be sharing this truck with Rene Metge’s children, who will also be taking part in the Africa Eco Race 2026 in a Porsche.

Soon it will be my turn to pass the baton to my son Pierre-Louis. My ultimate dream as a driver, before hanging up my gloves, is to be able to do the Dakar Classic with him in January 2027, aboard two Porsche Gulf cars. Once I’ve achieved that, I’ll pass on the baton to the next generation…

How did your partnership with CaptainJet come about?

Thanks to this project and in the name of Gulf, I have met a number of sponsors who are keen to take part in this adventure with us. Yves Roch was the first. I went to see him at an air show in Geneva and things just clicked. I’d also like to thank the sponsors who put their trust in me. Perhaps I didn’t necessarily have a lot of experience but they believed in my extreme motivation and allowed me to take part in this marvellous adventure that is the Dakar. The media impact of the blue and orange Gulf 964 DKR on social networks has enabled them to reap the rewards of their investment and most of them are supporting me again this year.

WILD BEAUTY THROUGH GRIET VAN MALDEREN’S LENS

The photographer Griet Van Malderen paints a vivid portrait of wildlife, full of emotions and sensitivity. The beautiful creatures she immortalizes have ignited a passion within her.

Griet Van Malderen takes us far from the marked paths – and from her native Belgium. Furtively and without making a sound, we follow the photographer through the wildest regions of the world, in the solitude of the desert dunes or under the canopy of the equatorial forests, from the southern seas to the craggy peaks of Patagonia.

As an adventurer at heart, and a lover of the great outdoors, Griet has been following in the footsteps of animals as majestic as they are fierce for years, in search of the perfect photograph. Holding her camera over her shoulder, she captures unique moments – fragments of the animals’ secret lives – and brings out all the poetry, strength and tenderness that emanate from them. ‘When I look around me, I think of photographs from now on: I either see a shot or I don’t. I have a particular fondness for animal subjects,

but that’s not all. I sometimes spend hours waiting, observing, following the tracks of the animal I’m interested in. I lived according to their rhythm, their hunting habits, their relationship with humans’, says the photographer.

Through her photographs, Griet Van Malderen is keen to raise public awareness of the wonders of the natural world, encouraging people to come into contact with it, but also to respect nature, unconditionally. She reminds us: ‘The beauty of nature, its flora and fauna, is a common good – we have received it as a gift and it is up to us to take better care of it.’

THE ARTHANIS FOUNDATION BETWEEN HUMANITY AND BENEVOLENCE, EQUALITY

The Arthanis Foundation and its founder, Alexandra Herbez, are committed to providing vital support to all who lack it—offering visibility, because being seen affirms one’s existence, and gentleness, because it heals. Since 2021, this non-profit organisation has been training and allocating assistance and medical alert dogs to people for whom science has reached its limits in organising their day-to-day lives. These animals not only give them independence, but also the emotion without which there can be no serene security. The Foundation Arthanis has nestled power in the heart of gentleness.

A COMMITMENT TO HELPING OTHERS

Awoman of passionate energy, Alexandra has put all her vitality and compassion into supporting others, those we don’t see but who nevertheless need our full attention. Those, large and small, whose quality of life depends on something ‘smaller than themselves’, the one known for its loyalty and unwavering attachment… the dog. Alexandra Herbez sheds new light on the world of charity.

SIMPLICITY GUIDES US THROUGH COMPLEXITY

These faithful companions, trained by the Foundation Arthanis, are the attentive guardians of well-being and comfort that would be impossible without them. These animals come into play in cases as diverse as they are impressive: from epilepsy and its sudden seizures to autism with its often unrecognised particularities, via narcolepsy and its waking problems, not forgetting the complications of type 1 diabetes. Anticipating a seizure a few minutes before it occurs, alerting a relative, or providing night-time surveillance… all situations that would be unmanageable without these unfailingly loyal representatives, who guarantee an unrivalled quality of life.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY

EXPERTISE FOR A TAILORMADE PROGRAMME

Each dog that joins the Foundation Arthanis follows a precise and supervised path. At two months of age, and for a year thereafter, the dog is placed with a volunteer foster family, whose role is to provide basic education and socialisation in a warm and secure environment. When the dog becomes an adult, it returns to the Foundation to follow a specific and rigorous 6- to 8-month education programme to prepare it to meet the precise needs of its future life partner.

A Scientific Advisory Board attached to the Foundation, comprising paediatricians, neurologists, and endocrinologists, among others, is regularly consulted for a better understanding of the disorders and pathologies of beneficiaries, in order to establish appropriate training protocols. Finally, and Alexandra Herbez has made this a priority, once the duos have been trained, they are accompanied on the path of their inseparable destinies throughout the animal’s active life, an average of 7 to 8 years. This follow-up guarantees both the dog’s well-being and the evolving needs of its human partner.

RAISING AWARENESS, A CORNERSTONE OF FOUNDATIONTHE ARTHANIS

Training without raising awareness among the public, who are largely unaware of invisible ills, will always have only a limited impact. In our society, which is so proud of its social advances, so-called invisible disabilities are not only misunderstood but quite simply ignored. We talk about justice, benevolence, and inclusion of the weakest all the time, yet remain indifferent to what we cannot see. Blindness, paralysis, and speechlessness seem to be the only conditions that justify the presence of a service dog, whereas other disabilities remain widely unrecognised.

These expectations of superfluous justification affect Alexandra. Fortunately, children receive some recognition, especially financial support. However, Arthanis also wants to take care of the adults involved.

FUNDING FOR ALTRUISM

Training an assistance dog costs CHF 35,000… and that’s no small feat. Donations from individuals, patrons, and foundations enable the Foundation Arthanis to allocate its dogs to beneficiaries without any financial compensation. When generosity is no longer calculated, humanity flourishes…

WHAT IF WE ALL WERE BUILDERS OF THE FUTURE?

Supporting the Foundation Arthanis means replacing despair with hope… It means breaking down barriers and ending the isolation of adults and children whose differences are minimised… It means placing dignity and serene autonomy in the paws of a trusting and loyal animal. Weaving links… a fine profession with a future. www.fondation-arthanis.org

THE ART OF STEERING ACCORDING TO ODDO BHF

Imagine, dream… you’re in a Pilatus PC-12, the flagship of the Fly 7 private aviation fleet. Sharp lines, soft silence, a cabin in which every detail has been thought out for your comfort, of course, but also for the elegance of performance. Whether on the ground or in the air, top-level piloting rests on three pillars: rigour, vision and attention to others. Meet Philippe Oddo, whose entrepreneurial adventure is the continuation of a family history spanning more than five generations.

A FOUNDING AMBITION

In the world of private banking, every client is unique, every move counts and every decision is made for the long term. Philippe Oddo, head of ODDO BHF, is continuing along his chosen path, ready to avoid any pitfalls that may arise. He has opened up a path for himself, his family and his teams, a path whose anchor point has to be earned, with exacting standards and benevolence.

THE FIVE LEVERS OF LUXURY

For Philippe Oddo, success in private banking means knowing the 5 levers of the luxury industry. In wealth management, history is much more than a setting.

It is a foundation, a promise of enduring authenticity. Reputations can’t be improvised, they have to be built step by step, from generation to generation. In this case, that of the Oddo family began in 1849, continued with the acquisition of prestigious houses and was built on foundations laid from the 1980s until the early 2000s. Oddo then developed a dynamic acquisition policy and diversified its activities. A major turning point came in 2016 with the acquisition of BHF. Four years later, having built up a solid Franco-German group, Philippe Oddo and his teams decided to establish a longterm presence in Switzerland. They bought Landolt, a bank based in the Frenchspeaking part of the country, with the aim of establishing a presence in both Germanspeaking and French-speaking Switzerland.

‘Creating a business in the luxury goods sector means building on a history and anchoring yourself in a tradition’ (Ph. Oddo)

Our history is combined with the uniqueness of a multicultural offering and a rare combination of complementary businesses: private banking, asset management and investment banking. This positioning is underpinned by significant investment in research and IT, and by a commitment to attracting the best talent, enabling us to develop an offering that stands out for its quality. The excellence of the talent, products and services we offer should also help to give each customer the feeling of being special, the centre of attention around which the Group’s various businesses are organised. The final lever is the ability to combine tradition with innovation to meet current and future expectations.

RIGOUR AND TEAM SPIRIT MAKE GOOD COCKPITS

Philippe Oddo says: ‘A good banker is like a good pilot: he has to know his checklist, he has to know where he’s going, but he also has to be ready to adjust his trajectory. Above all, they need to be able to communicate well with their passengers. And in this banking cockpit, he is not alone; there is a close-knit crew in which every position counts, contributing to a wellthought-out dynamic.

‘What is unique about ODDO BHF is that 50% of our employees are also shareholders. It’s a family business, but a shared one, driven by collective commitment’ (Ph. Oddo)

STAYING THE COURSE: THE RIGHT ATTITUDE

‘What makes the difference is attitude. Being serious, without taking yourself too seriously. Knowing how to challenge yourself every day’, says Philippe Oddo. Sailing in all weathers also means betting on wellrun companies that are also capable of adapting, because we never know what the weather will be like in this world that is both virtual and tangible, a world where words have exhaustive meaning, a world where actions are inevitably decisive. This sense of anticipation is part of ODDO BHF’s DNA: ‘Today, our approach is much more holistic. We’re no longer just talking about assets: we’re talking about projects, transmission, impact and innovation,’ he explains.

FEET ON THE GROUND, HEAD IN THE CLOUDS

Philippe Oddo describes the leader’s role as that of a ‘pasha’, a word belonging to the navy in which he did his military service. This particular term, borrowed from the Ottoman Empire, refers in this case to a Commander who tries to be present wherever he is needed. It’s a fluid, adaptable posture that epitomises the spirit of a modern business leader, that of a discreet but decisive Captain Fly (7). Mr Oddo’s day alternates between frequent travel - Paris, Geneva, Frankfurt… - and long-term visions that never leave his side. He is there where he is needed, out of anticipation and duty.

TRANSMISSION, A SOFT LANDING

The principle of meritocracy alone sums up the foundations of a discreet but assertive success. The ultimate role of the shareholder is to choose managers not only from among the most deserving but also, and above all, from among the most capable. A handover of power or succession is a key moment in a forward-looking company, a moment that needs to be prepared for, so that firmness is combined with the gentleness of a well-anticipated changeover.

‘There is a sixth generation in the company. But here, everyone has to earn their place’ (Ph. Oddo)

COMMITMENT GIVES MEANING TO ACTION

Anticipation means looking further ahead than the trading rooms, further than Switzerland, France or Germany.

As ODDO BHF makes clear, these days its commitment must be both philanthropic and environmental. The company has therefore joined forces with Africa, planting over 2.5 million trees and building a dispensary, a school and a well. Europe has not been left behind, with foundations in France, Germany and soon Switzerland.

ODDO BHF and Fly 7… On the face of it, these two worlds have nothing in common, but they share a common ambition for luxury that makes sense, and a desire to prepare for a prosperous future. One, firmly rooted in our world, is aiming for the clouds… the other has made the sky its natural habitat but keeps its feet firmly on the ground.

RIVOLI OR INTELLIGENT BEAUTY

In the discreet world of beauty, some names manage to stand out. RIVOLI is one of these experts, combining exacting science with an ecological conscience, in the service of authentic luxury. Nestled in the heart of the Swiss Emmental, this exceptional company embodies the rare combination of cutting-edge technology and respect.

WHEN LUXURY BREAKS DOWN BOUNDARIES

Founded in the 1980s as a true pioneer of Swiss cosmetics, RIVOLI first made a name for itself in Russia. Taken over in the 2000s by the Schweikert family holding company, which has been active for many years in the development and production of active ingredients for the cosmetics industry, the brand continues its tradition of high-quality Swiss manufacturing. In 2012, RIVOLI launched a new, innovative range and became more international. That same year, it opened the RIVOLI Gallery in Geneva, combining contemporary art and cosmetics. Today, RIVOLI offers a short range of less than 20 products distributed in Europe. Each product is designed, formulated and tested in Switzerland at the RIVOLI factory, under the seal of ISO-9001 and 14,001 certifications: proof of our commitment to management and the environment. All with the same focus on purity: no controversial ingredients, clinical tests once the product is finished, vegan formulas and airless packaging that respects both the end product and the environment.

SCIENCE AND BEAUTY, AN IDEAL PARTNERSHIP

At RIVOLI, cosmetics become intelligent… The structure of the skin is imitated to perfection thanks to multi-lamellar technology, resulting in a significant reduction in the risk of irritation. The ingredients work in synergy with the skin’s natural protection and regeneration mechanisms. When expertise meets nature… There’s no promise of a miracle, but rather an apprenticeship for the skin… learning to defend itself, repair itself and glow, in full health. This approach appeals

as much to sensitive skin as to the discerning consumer in search of results that can be seen and measured.

MINIMALIST REFINEMENT

No need for a multitude of products, RIVOLI cultivates the art of the essential: a pared-down approach, a sober and elegant sensorial experience, textures that merge with the skin.

Elegance and performance, the watchwords of Fly 7… That’s all it took for RIVOLI to share its expertise with this master of the clouds. Every moment spent on board becomes a moment of well-being thanks to the «La Découverte» set, or how 4 treatments become essential in mid-air.

As soon as you take off, Le Privilège L’Eau de Jour N°02 envelops your face in a refreshing anti-ageing mist that intensely moisturises, stimulates the natural production of collagen and protects the skin from environmental aggressors. For instant radiance, Visage Sérum Lumière N°02 smoothes wrinkles and imperfections while illuminating the complexion, even after a long flight. The Re-balancing Emulsion Visage works day and night to soothe, rebalance the skin’s microbiota and reinforce the protective barrier, giving skin a feeling of lasting comfort. Finally, Visage Masque Réparateur N°02, at the heart of the regenerating routine, intensely nourishes and boosts cellular repair mechanisms to counter the effects of stress and fatigue.

It’s all part of an effective routine designed for demanding travellers in search of radiance, protection and comfort, whatever the altitude.

RIVOLI is a discreet yet powerful manifesto for skin radiance, a way of highlighting its youthfulness. Swiss beauty, demanding and soothing.

ELIE BEAUFUMÉ DRIVING TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE AT JETFLY

In the demanding world of private aviation, where precision and reliability are absolute imperatives, Elie Beaufumé stands out as Engineering & Maintenance Director of the Jetfly Group. Discover how he skilfully navigates technical and human challenges to guarantee an unrivalled experience.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your career path?

As a trained engineer, I started working about fifteen years ago as a Technical Customer Support Engineer in an aerospace maintenance centre specialising in general overhaul of landing gear and auxiliary engines. I quickly moved into business unit management roles, then later became Key Account Manager and company representative based at one of our largest customers at the time, Qatar Airways. While living abroad, I also took an Executive MBA and eventually became Director of Operations when I returned to France, still with the same company.

Commercial aviation was hit very hard by Covid, so I resigned somewhat reluctantly during a very difficult period to join business aviation, which was booming at the time. After a mixed first experience at Paris-Le Bourget Airport in this new sector for me, I finally joined Jetfly at the end of 2022, much to my delight.

If you had to explain your job to someone who knows nothing about aviation, how would you describe your role in a few words?

In the Technical Department, we have tasks that may seem paradoxical at first glance. Our primary mission is to ensure the smooth running and complete safety of flights, our pilots and our passengers. This means seeing our aircraft as regularly as possible so that we can carry out inspections and tests proactively and, of course, correct any minor faults before they have a chance to become more serious. However, our secondary mission is to make our aircraft as available as possible for our operations and our customers.

The challenge is therefore to maximise the relevance, quality and speed of our aircraft maintenance.

Can you tell us about Jetfly Technik and its role within the group?

Jetfly Technik is our maintenance brand, present in England, Germany and Switzerland. Under this banner, we bring together all our aircraft mechanics, our supply chain (planning, suppliers, warehouses, etc.) and all the administrative functions necessary for the smooth running of the Maintenance Centres. Jetfly Technik plays a critical role for the group, just like pilot training, for example, because without maintenance there can be no operations.

What types of aircraft do you maintain and what are your main day-to-day tasks?

We exclusively maintain the types of aircraft operated by the Jetfly group, while also serving third-party customers when our capacity allows. Maintenance falls into two main categories: scheduled maintenance, which is proactive, and unscheduled maintenance, which resolves operational problems as they arise. Both categories have their daily share of surprises, which is what makes our job non-routine and exciting.

How do you guarantee the safety and reliability of the aircraft you maintain? Are there any particular challenges associated with maintaining a private aircraft compared to a commercial aircraft?

In industry, aviation has the second most stringent regulations after nuclear power. It is therefore by ensuring that we comply with these regulations and the best practices that result from them that we guarantee the safety and reliability of the aircraft we maintain. Business aviation is unique in that it is exclusively on-demand flying. Unlike commercial aviation, it is therefore extremely complicated to

plan and anticipate the use of an aircraft and its geographical location in the near future. This drastically complicates our business, but that’s what makes it so interesting! Business aviation is sometimes criticised for its environmental impact. How does Jetfly Technik integrate sustainability and energy optimisation into its maintenance approach? How does the move towards more sustainable aviation impact private jet maintenance? With the move towards more sustainable aviation, aircraft maintenance has a bright future ahead of it. Indeed, and this is what we strive to do on a daily basis, we constantly seek to repair rather than replace with new parts and throw them away.

Are there any new practices or materials that make aircraft maintenance more environmentally friendly?

Yes and no, at least not yet. In order to make aircraft lighter and lighter so that they consume less and less fuel, composite materials have become the norm in recent years. These materials are ultralightweight and high-performance, and can be repaired, but they have the major disadvantage of not being recyclable. Beyond the question of combustion engines, this will be one of the challenges facing aviation in general in the near future.

On the practical side, the development of IT systems is already and will continue to be key. For example, we are currently undertaking a major project to completely digitise our activities, which may seem small but is undoubtedly a step forward.

What excites you most about your job at Jetfly Technik?

Beyond my passion for aviation, it is of course and above all the human adventure.

THE FUTURE OF AVIATION FUEL BETWEEN INNOVATION AND SUSTAINABLE COMMITMENT

Aviation is now at a decisive turning point in terms of the energy transition. In the face of climate imperatives, the aeronautics industry must reduce its CO₂ emissions while maintaining its growth. Among the most promising avenues, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) occupies a central place for more environmentally friendly air transport.

SAF: A CREDIBLE ALTERNATIVE

Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a blend of conventional kerosene and renewable fuel produced from various sources such as agricultural residues, used oils or biomass. Its biochemical properties are very similar to those of fossil kerosene, which allows it to be used in existing aircraft and infrastructure without major modifications. Unlike traditional fuel, SAF is based on carbon already present in the atmosphere rather than on fossil resources. In fact, its use can be almost carbon neutral over its entire life cycle. International regulations nevertheless require that the renewable component does not exceed 50% of the mixture. In practice, the SAFs available today are often composed of 40% renewable fuel and 60% conventional kerosene.

COMMERCIAL AND REGULATORY CHALLENGES

SAF is currently only produced in limited quantities, and it remains more expensive than fossil kerosene. Some airports, such as Oslo, Los Angeles and Stockholm, have already included SAF in their offering, helping to get this sector off the ground worldwide. In France, a working group, launched in early 2023, aims to structure a national production of SAF to meet the objectives of carbon neutrality in air transport by 2050. Increased production, the introduction of public subsidies and the development of associated technologies should, in time, promote a better balance between supply and demand. This development is essential to gradually reduce the cost of SAF and make it more competitive.

JETFLY, A CONCRETE EXAMPLE IN BUSINESS AVIATION

In the private aviation sector, players such as Jetfly are already committed to promoting the adoption of SAF. Thanks to its dedicated programme, the company facilitates access to this fuel for its customers, thus contributing to a significant reduction in the CO₂ emissions of its fleet. The Jetfly initiative illustrates how business aviation can play a pioneering role by encouraging the use of cleaner fuels and raising awareness among users of SAF’s environmental benefits.

TOWARDS MORE SUSTAINABLE AIR TRANSPORT

The future of aviation fuel is therefore moving towards a combination of technological solutions and responsible practices. SAF is currently the most tangible response to reducing the sector’s carbon footprint. However, its large-scale deployment will depend on a collective effort involving governments, aircraft manufacturers, energy suppliers and airlines. By encouraging the adoption of sustainable fuels, the aviation industry can begin the transition to a lower CO₂ emission model without compromising the performance or reliability of operations. Thanks to these advances, aviation is gradually gearing up to meet the climate challenges and become a permanent feature of the global transport landscape.

PRIVATE WINGS, PUBLIC STANDARDS MAKING SENSE OF CHARTER SAFETY

Private aviation in Europe isn’t just for celebrities and CEOs anymore. A new generation of single-engine turboprops is opening direct, time-saving routes to places the airlines bypass. Yet, because charter rules differ from airline rules, even frequent flyers can be unsure where convenience ends and safety begins. This short guide unpacks the essentials—equipment, crews, training and regulation—so you can book with confidence and enjoy the ride.

A BOUTIQUE WAY TO CROSS THE CONTINENT

Single-engine turboprops such as the Swiss-built Pilatus PC-12 have quietly transformed European business aviation. With seating for up to nine passengers and the ability to slip into runways far too short for jets, they place travellers minutes from Alpine resorts, Mediterranean islands, and bustling commercial hubs alike. Yet the very rules that grant such agility are worth understanding before you book.

“Most clients assume their €2,500-perhour charter flight comes with the same safety standards as any commercial airline,” observes the CEO of Fly 7, the first operator to earn European certification for commercial single-engine service. His point is less of a warning than an invitation: informed passengers make the best decisions.

ONE PILOT UP FRONT

Because the PC-12 is formally classed as a non-complex aircraft, European law permits a single fully qualified captain to fly paying passengers. Some companies seat a second person in uniform beside the captain – often an observer or operations assistant – to manage paperwork and client service. What this means for you: single-pilot charter is perfectly legal. If you prefer the redundancy of a second licensed pilot, most operators will accommodate on request (expect a modest surcharge).

RECURRENT TRAINING THE CORNERSTONE

Major airlines cycle their crews through simulators twice a year. PC-12 simulators are scarce – hence regulators allow charter companies to rehearse certain drills in the actual aircraft during repositioning flights. That saves time and money, but limits exposure to the full spectrum of engine-failure or icing scenarios.

“Professional operators spend approximately €3,000 per pilot every six months for proper simulator training,” the same source explains.

Your move: simply ask when the captain last completed a simulator session. Reputable firms keep those records at their fingertips.

THE ALLURE AND REALITY OF SMALL AIRFIELDS

Landing on 800-metre strips in France or Italy is a sublime perk of turboprop travel. Some rural fields, however,

provide only minimal firefighting or medical assistance. A thoughtful query–“What emergency services are on-site at our destination?” – usually elicits a thorough briefing and, if necessary, an alternate plan.

OVERSIGHT – STRUCTURED, YET FLEXIBLE

Europe’s regulators – the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and national aviation authorities – aim to nurture connectivity while safeguarding the travelling public. Exemptions exist precisely because full-motion simulators are neither plentiful nor inexpensive. Still, vigilance remains essential.

INSURANCE COVERAGE THE INVISIBLE SAFETY NET

EU law sets bare - bones cover: 250,000 SDR (≈ €300,000) per passenger, 7,000,000 SDR (≈ €8.4 million) for third - party claims, plus small baggage and cargo limits. Serious operators go further: Fly 7 and Jetfly insure every PC -12 for no less than €75 million, supplementing that policy with war- risk and spare - parts coverage.

Pro tip: ask for the one - page Certificate of Insurance, make sure the dates and limits fit your trip, and request to be named if you wish. In the time it takes to buckle in, you’ll know whether the carrier treats safety as a statistic or as a promise.

FOUR QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING BEFORE BOOKING

1. Crew complement : Will my flight be crewed by one or two licensed pilots trained to work together?

2. Recent training : What are the training standards of the company which is operating my flights?

3. Airfield support : What level of emergency contingency plan cover exists at both ends?

4. Insurance cushion: Is the liability limit higher than my net worth?

These questions take moments to pose and can lead you to fly with greater confidence.

MOMENTUM TOWARD GREATER TRANSPARENCY

Forward-looking operators publicly advocate for mandatory simulator refreshers and clearer disclosure of crew qualifications. While regulators deliberate, dialogue between traveller and operator remains the most powerful driver of safety.

Private aviation may never match the scale of Europe’s big carriers, but its safety trajectory is increasingly aligned with theirs. Expanded access to simulator training, improved oversight of remote airports and a culture that rewards openness rather than hush-hush margins are reshaping the sector.
