Food & Beverage

One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service. Our reservation system has shown a marked improvement on Friday nights, and the member dining experience is getting smoother. More Members are making reservations and honoring them by being seated at the time of their reservation.

We would ask if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30-40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.

We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.

Service Charge Reminder

The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appetit!

Enjoy your Club!

Coral Ridge Yacht Club is rich in histories and traditions which need to be upheld and celebrated. By participating in our events, you ensure that these traditions continue to be passed down to future generations of Members. CRYC offers a range of amenities, services, and exclusive perks to Members. By attending events and activities, you can fully maximize the benefits of your membership. Club staff works hard to provide exceptional service and experiences for each of us. By attending events, we show our appreciation for the staff’s efforts and contribute to a positive working environment.

Active participation at CRYC can bring personal fulfillment and satisfaction. Whether it is through socializing, learning new skills, or contributing to the success of the Club, each Member can find joy and fulfillment in being actively involved. By attending events and activities, Members play a crucial role in ensuring the Club remains vibrant, sustainable, and enjoyable for all.

One bit of housekeeping and a reminder how important it is to make reservations when coming to events or dining. This helps the staff properly prepare for the Members and guests. We are coming off a successful Father’s Day event where over 160 members honored their fathers and grandfathers.

Coming up this month we have three spectacular events planned. The 4th of July celebration, insert Girls Night Out, and the Cheeseburger in Paradise party are two events you do not want to miss!

As Members of CRYC, we need to support our club by attending events, dining, and participating in activities. Your regular attendance ensures the Club can continue to offer its amenities, services, and programs. Active participation strengthens bonds between members, creates a supportive network and enhances the overall club experience for all. When members attend events, they contribute directly to the club’s financial stability, helping to cover operational costs and invest in improvements.

Best regards,

T. Fred Roche

As we move into the warmer months, please remember our dress code and hat policies as they pertain to the Clubhouse. Hats, caps, or visors are not allowed to be worn inside the Clubhouse (even if you are walking through to the patios or pool deck). However, you can wear hats on the Auxiliary and Burgee Patios. Appropriate bathing suits and cover-ups for ladies and similar for gentlemen and children are permitted on the Auxiliary Patio and, of course, the pool deck dining tables. (No cheeky bottoms or sheer/fishnet cover-ups are permitted.) Please make sure to share the dress code with your family and friends when bringing them to the Club to prevent any awkward situations.

From The Desk Of Your General Manager

Dear CRYC Members:

We are definitely in the heat of it–summer! Thankfully, Mother Nature was on our side for Memorial Day weekend. To kick off the festivities, we enjoyed live music in the Burgee Bar for Friday Happy Hour and Saturday featured a mouthwatering Lobster Maine-ia prepared by our talented chef. It was a Sunday Funday brunch with pop-up Aperol tasting and a DJ at the pool, and Monday’s Memorial Day BBQ kept the party going with DJ Kevin, family fun activities, and the best view in town. It was a weekend to remember.

Congratulations to everyone who tried their luck spinning the wheel of prizes at our Memorial Day sale! We had some fantastic rewards, including complimentary entry to our La Dolce Vita night and our 4th of July poolside party. Thank you for your support. There’s no better advertising than seeing our Members proudly wearing our CRYC swag and sporting our burgee.

Our Father’s Day celebration was equally as memorable. Our weekend started with a bourbon pop-up tasting and live music in the Burgee Bar on Friday evening. Then on Saturday, Chef Steve hosted our first cooking class – “Papas & Pancakes” – where our young culinarians whipped up some delicious pancakes for their Dads. The kids had a blast donning chef hats and aprons and loading up their pancakes with all sorts of toppings. Our apologies, Dads, if any of you experienced a post-pancake sugar rush! Father’s Day Brunch was a wonderful time seeing families celebrating together, including a fun-filled day at the pool with DJ Jason. We capped off the day with cornhole games.

Speaking of competition, our Thursday Trivia with Tami took a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the theme of movie soundtracks. Congratulations to our movie soundtrack expert Bridge Hotties.

And then we were off to the Amalfi Coast when La Dolce Vita night transported us to Italy with great food, wonderful friends, Chef Steve’s homemade limoncello, and tunes from DJ Misha. A good time was had by all.

Next up is our 4th of July celebration. If you haven’t signed up yet, there’s still time. Join us for an all-American cookout, music by DJ Misha, and fun-filled family activities. At night, head on up to the Veranda to watch the fireworks display over the ICW. We will have a full bar and you won’t have to fight the crowds. Last year we had a great turnout, and we look forward to even more joining us this year.

As a reminder, your participation is crucial to the success of our events. We aim for at least 100 Members at our functions to ensure their viability and to keep the excitement alive yearround for all ages. Even if you’re traveling this summer, join

us at the Club when you’re in town for date nights, Sunday Fundays with the family, or a quick lunch. We thank you for being part of our vibrant community. Your continued support makes a significant difference.

Additionally, as many of our Members are away in the Bahamas and other fun spots, it’s the perfect opportunity to bring your boat by for a little getaway, even if it’s just stopping over for lunch or dinner. Please call Drew Johnson, our Dockmaster, to coordinate availability; he would be happy to help you dock with us. We also have a new Dock Attendant, Andres Benitez. Andres grew up around boats as his Dad works for San Lorenzo Yachts. Please say hello and give him a warm CRYC welcome.

Finally, I’d like to share some behind-the-scenes information as several of you have commented that you see a lot of new faces around. The management team and I are gearing up for the grand reveal of The Pointe and we are building upon our wonderful team to make it happen!

Chef Steve has hired a couple of new culinary team members, including Sous Chef Norvin Navarette, who will be focused on The Pointe. The excitement is building as we work on creating new menus, an updated wine list, interesting cocktails, and a selection of beers on tap. We are also busy ordering service items, table settings, tableware, and uniforms. All of us are anxiously awaiting the day we get the go-ahead to set up, train our staff, test out all the new equipment, and do several trial runs so we are prepared for the opening of what will be one of the best waterfront dining spots in town! Okay, maybe I am a bit biased, but we will let you decide.

We are getting close; we thank you for your patience as we put the finishing touches on our new outside retreat that all of us can enjoy for years to come. Most importantly, your feedback on the opening and operation of The Pointe will help us. No matter how well we plan, there will be opportunities for us to do things differently and we welcome your comments.

As always, if there is anything you would like to share, please stop by, and see me, leave a comment card online, send an email, or call me directly. Your feedback is always truly valued.

See you at your “Home Away from Home”— your Club!

Auxiliary

With so many snowbirds away for the season, Auxiliary’s June 12th Luncheon was a wonderful opportunity for those in town to gather and reconnect. For a change of pace, they brought along their favorite recipes to share.

Our July and August Luncheons will continue to be casual. Our formal programming will kick in in September. Keep an eye out for further details as the summer progresses.

In the meantime, enjoy your summer, wherever you are.

If you have not yet joined Auxiliary, please contact Jodi Dumas at jodidumas@outlook.com or 610-417-3855.

Sincerely yours,

Anna Marie Torres, President

CRYC Sailing & Watersports Foundation

Our Summer Sailing Program will be well underway by the time you read this article. I am really pleased how everything came together this year with the help of our partners, our board, staff and mostly the kids that will be participating. All four sessions of 12 sailors each are completely sold out. Needless to say, the support of our donors makes this program possible.

We are looking forward to FOUNDATION DAY and have set a date for it on Sunday, October 20, 2024. The activities will be centered around Pointe, Pool and, of course, the Sailing Center and Sunrise Bay. It will be a day of outdoor fun for the whole family and an opportunity to learn to use our kayaks, paddleboards, and sailboats etc. which are available for your use at no charge. We expect to have marine displays, music, information on your Foundation’s mission and a nice outdoor BBQ. It will also be the final day of bidding for the Painted Sail done by our talented local artist Chris Kram. The Painted Sail that was purchased at the Party with a Purpose will also be on display. You will recall that sail was donated back to the Foundation, and we are going to make it available for bidding as well.

We are in the process of updating our TEAM FOUNDATION PLAQUE with our more recent donors and will do so again following Foundation Day. If you would like to be included, please contact me, Roz Alford or any of the Foundation Board Members. We will be glad to give you the donation necessary to be included or to upgrade your existing plaque.

Our programs require lots of effort and equipment, and we are pleased to add our new Boston Whaler Coaches’ Boat, which was donated by Paul Erickson, and a new Inflatable and motor, which was donated by West Marine and the LYC Foundation. We have also purchased a new enclosed trailer which will have attractive Foundation graphics to house our equipment in a safe and orderly manner. It will also allow us to dispose of the outdated shed that currently houses the equipment, and that will allow for more parking.

As you know by the donation thermometer that was displayed, our 2024, was $100,000 to help us continue our good work. We are currently more than 75% there and look forward to your continued support.

Everybody Must Get Stoned: CelebratingStoneFruitSeasoninSouthFlorida

Summer in Florida can be brutal, with stifling heat that feels never-ending. Yet, after living in South Florida for 12 years, I’ve grown to love this season. It’s a time when we locals reclaim our space: the tourists are gone, traffic is a breeze, parking is plentiful, and you can snag a reservation at your favorite restaurant with ease. Out in Davie where I live, summer also means the arrival of amazing farmers markets brimming with fresh, local produce.

One of the highlights of these markets is the abundance of summer fruits. Spring brings mangoes and cherries, but come July and August, it’s all about stone fruit. There’s nothing quite like biting into a juicy, fuzzy peach or savoring the sweet taste of a perfectly ripened plum. Tart and tender apricots, along with crisp and tangy nectarines, complete the delectable lineup. Ahh, the stone fruit.

While it’s true that modern agriculture allows us to enjoy fruit year-round, with imports from South America, there’s no comparison to be made between a December peach from Chile and a July peach from Georgia. As a chef, I know that when food is ripe and in season, it speaks for itself. The key is simplicity—letting the ingredients shine without overwhelming them. The culinary mantra, “Keep it simple, stupid,” reminds us to resist the urge to overcomplicate dishes.

In honor of prime stone fruit season, we invite you to join us on Friday, July 19th, for an à la carte service featuring specials centered around these exquisite fruits. Celebrate the summer with us, and experience the vibrant flavors of peakseason stone fruit. It’s a delicious reminder that sometimes, the simplest pleasures are the most memorable.

Serve: Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh, vibrant flavors.

This simple peach and burrata dish is perfect for summer, showcasing the deliciously ripe peaches in their prime.

CRYC Cruisers

Dear Cruisers and Members All,

I have to say if you weren’t at our Cruisers’ dinner last night, you missed a heartfelt 80th Commemoration of D-Day. Our own Kayelynne Northcut gave a riveting account of D-Day, which ultimately led to the winning of the Second World War. After dinner, Past Commodore Maynard Hellman and Vice Commodore Paul Sheerin were flanked by second year Governor Jim Pease and myself in the lowering of the flag, which occurred at exactly 8:11. It was a time of reflection as we remembered this pivotal part of our American history.

Precious few of us are out in the Bahamas this summer. Threats of hurricanes and high winds are having a deep impact on those willing to go away. To those afloat, “May the winds be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face,” and the rain lay down the ocean this summer long. For Cruisers who want to get away closer to home, on July 4th several are escaping by boat to Boca Resort where their summer dockage price has dropped to $3.85 per foot. Enjoy a spectacular pool and nearby golf.

Since so many people are out of town for the first time since 2019, the Cruisers’ dinner has been changed to a Cruisers’ Happy Hour on July 11th. If you decide to stay for dinner, you can order off the menu.

Join us for our 2nd Day Trippers Event on Saturday, August 10th, as Meredith Campbell leads the way on your next adventure to Whiskey Creek! Departing from the Club around 10am, we will enjoy a leisurely cruise to our destination. You can pre-order your boxed lunches from the club and pick them up there. Upon arrival, join a friendly game of kickball on the beach or relax to a game of Cornhole with a cocktail in hand. We will bid farewell to Whiskey Creek at 2pm, returning just in time for a pool party at the Club. These are the last days of summer, so don’t miss out on a day filled with fun, fun and friends! Please sign up using this form: https://form.jotform.com/240867976259072 OR email meredithroycampbell@gmail.com

Town of Palm Harbour, September 20-22, is shaping up fast. There is still room at one of the surrounding marinas, but you better book fast. This weekend is hosted by Judy Lincoln and Ramona Fowler. We will go to happy hour at 4pm at the Brazilian Court and later have a three-course dinner at Bice. The cost per person will be $175 for Members, and nonmembers are $200. Additionally, on Saturday morning at 10am, Uber to Flagler Museum. Get your tickets at www.flaglermuseam.us/visiting/visiting. This event is hosted by Maribel Bunin. Let Ramona Fowler know how many in your party at ramona2email@gmail.com.

Our Naples weekend will honor two well-known yacht clubs. The Sailing and Yacht Club is hosting us for happy hour and dinner, if you would like to go on Friday the 17th. Naples Yacht Club is our October 18th destination. Dine in their newly renovated main dining room in opulence and style. Generally speaking, outside yacht clubs are not permitted in groups in the main dinning room. However, with our personal connections this event will be permitted. Please email MyMysticStar@gmail.com, and let me know the size of your group. This is a wonderful destination to get to by car or by boat.

Captains’ Club

Summer is in full swing and many of us are pulled in many directions and locations, yet our Captains’ Club continues to meet weekly for those in town. As an added bonus for those that join us on Wednesdays at noon we’ve been enjoying special guests to spur on our conversations and enlighten us on various topics and products. So I encourage you to come and dine with us when you’re available this summer.

Our friendships grow with the camaraderie that we enjoy...

Family Activities

Dear Members,

We are delighted to invite you to our annual 4th of July celebration at the CRYC! This year’s event promises to be a memorable one, filled with fun activities, delicious food, live music, and, of course, a fantastic fireworks display.

Indulge in a mouthwatering spread of grilled delights, including burgers, hot dogs, BBQ chicken and all your favorite summer side dishes. Our talented grill masters will be ready to serve up sizzling treats that will satisfy your taste buds. But that’s not all! The musical festivities will kick off at 4:30 PM with live music to set the perfect ambiance for the evening.

If you’re in the mood for some aquatic fun, take a dip in our pool or get a paddleboard out. We also have several other activities planned to keep you entertained throughout the evening. Whether you want to go swim, play cornhole with other Members or simply relax by the water’s edge, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

As the sun sets, get ready to witness a breathtaking fireworks display from our second floor Verandah that will light up the

night sky. Find a cozy spot to relax with your loved ones, and enjoy the mesmerizing colors and patterns that will paint the darkness.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Construction CORNER

The Pointe is almost there. The final pieces of kitchen equipment were delivered the week of June 24th. The largest task to complete is to install a 4-inch diameter fire line from the area at the entry gate to the Pointe. We are resolving some complications with this and expect a resolution and installation soon. This is needed for us to become operational. Water, gas, and electricity are energized. There are a number of final inspections required as well and theseare generally routine. If you have been to the club recently, you will see the landscape beinginstalled and it is looking great. The city is requiring us to get a variance for the retractable awning on the east side that essentially is in the same location as our previous canvas roof. The Commodore will soon issue a notice to all our members noting our anticipated opening date pending resolution of the issues noted.

Friday Colors at CRYC

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843.

Service members and civilians take part in this long-standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.

1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.

2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.

3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.

4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.

Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.

Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminder: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.

Book Club

Do you wonder about the benefits of joining our Book Club?

Here are several reasons you should join:

1. Creates reading accountability. By joining, you are committed to reading a book. If you don’t read it, your fellow members will be very disappointed.

2. Helps you engage deeper into the book. If you are a fast reader, it might slow you down and allow deeper analysis with what you are reading. Also, the discussion will help you see new details and ideas.

3. Encourages critical thinking. By working through and discussing, you help each other see all aspects of a topic. You may obtain a new perspective.

4. Keeps your brain sharp. Studies show reading helps your overall brain function and increases your memory.

5. Meet new and old friends at the meeting.

6. Foster a continuing love of literature. You develop a love of reading with others and encourage others to read.

7. Finally, and very importantly, it gives you a break from life. It is a great escape from our daily lives.

Please consider joining us. This season, we are reading the following books:
