One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service.
We would ask if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30 - 40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.
We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.
The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!
We certainly had a very exciting month! We were attacked by a Pirate Ship, surrounded by Leprechauns doing the Irish Jig (led by our very own, Larry Bohannan) and finished with the Sailing & Water Sports Foundation, “Party with a Purpose”. These events along with Karaoke, Burgers and Bingo, Sunday Funday Sailing, Auxiliary, Cruisers and Wine Club events made me realize – wow, CRYC is a very busy place. And that is how it should be. I couldn’t be more delighted to see our Members participating and enjoying what our Club offers. The Pointe is certainly the crown jewel busy all day and night and the place to be. This venue provides us a more casual place for dining and events such as Valentines Day and St. Patrick’s Day while the more traditional celebrations are held in the main Club house.
Our membership continues to grow. We had the opportunity to welcome another wonderful group of New Members last month excited and eager to participate and enjoy our Club. When you see a Pineapple Flag on a table this signifies a New Member. Please remember to introduce yourself, invite them to dinner, to an event or to join one or several of the many wonderful Clubs within our Club. We were all New Members once.
I would like remind everyone that membership is a privilege. Let’s show each other – Members and just as important, our staff the same respect and kindness we would like to have shown to us.
Warmest regards,
Paul Sheerin Commodore
As I write, the Party with a Purpose is just three weeks away, reminding me of our first event and our goal of 50 guests. We did reach our goal and held a very successful event in the Commodores’ Lounge, and we have seen it grow over the years. We set a very lofty goal of 150 guests for the Party this year and with three weeks to go we already have 133 confirmed reservations. We have also received generous donations from some who are not able to attend the event. Hopefully you were able to attend but if not, you can still support our mission with a donation of any amount. There is a great deal of enthusiasm for our Club, and we feel the Foundation not only benefits the Community as a whole but also is a great asset to CRYC.
We have received and signed the agreements with the City of Ft Lauderdale for our 2025 Summer Sailing Camp. We have scheduled three two-week sessions to begin on June 16 through August 1, 2025. These sessions will be open to all participants, and I would suggest if you would like to have your child or grandchild participate, please make your reservations early. The cost for each participant if they are a resident of Broward Country is $476.00, and non-residents fee is $722.00 for a two-week session. This year we will have two one-week sessions for our Members children only, the first a week before the start of our joint program with the city and the second after the final session. If you would like to sign up for any of the sessions please contact our Activities Director, Donna Wagoner at Ext 206 and she will walk you through the process. We are looking forward to another very successful summer program.
I am sure you are receiving emails from Meredith Campbell with information on the Sunday/Funday Sailing for the kids. Please remember, your kids do not have to be experienced sailors. This is all about Fun, Learning and Safety for the kids. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
As always, we are enjoying a great partnership and support with St. Marks School. We have another Regatta with them on April 13th. Come out and watch the kids sail in the Bay. You will enjoy it. We will also host the Star Art Regatta on April 17th. It is a beautiful display of Painted Sails on Sunrise Bay and is quite a spectacular event. Bleachers are set up across the Bay in Birch State Park. Our Members have the best seats in the house at our property or The Pointe.
Your Foundation is enjoying great success, as is our Club. We appreciate your support which enables us to continue our good work.

Spring is in full swing at CRYC, and what a fantastic time to be at the Club! Our recent Pirate Party and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations were an incredible success, thanks to the outstanding efforts of our Social Chair, Governor Kate Nelson, and the dedicated “Socialites.”
As we continue into the season, we remain committed to enhancing your experience at the Club. To provide consistency in our dining service, we are introducing a new tradition for closing the dining areas:
• Each evening, a single bell will ring at 8:45 PM, signaling the last call for food orders.
• At 9:00 PM, the kitchen will officially close.
• If members are still enjoying beverages, a triple bell will ring at 9:45 PM, marking the last call for bar service
• Please note that for special Club events, bar service times may be adjusted accordingly.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a seamless dining experience.

In the early 2000s, CRYC began hosting an evening of great food and music for the active military visiting Fort Lauderdale each year for Fleet Week. They are stationed on destroyers, combat ships and submarines, actively deployed to foreign seas thousands of miles from the USA. Some years we’ve had as many as 8 ships in Port Everglades. This celebration is in their honor, and they tell us it is the best welcome they receive from any port in the USA!
Please consider supporting our event on Wednesday, April 23rd.
“Everyone we talked to had so much respect for what we do. They understood the freedom they enjoy comes at a great expense.”
“You proved that your gratitude for our service was genuine; you shared your best with us!”
“You all are a great group of Americans, and we are honored to carry on!”
“This is the highlight of all the ports we sail into around the country.”
“Away from my family and friends, coming to the CRYC made me feel closer to home.
A heartfelt THANK YOU!”

Can you say ARG?!? A pirate’s life for me! It was the first Pirate Party in Coral Ridges Yacht Club’s history! A wonderful steel drum player played tropical tunes throughout the night. A successful counter attack on the pirate ship with Meredith Cambell leading the charge hoisting the pirate flag and celebrating it with a cannon blast. With stilt walkers, jugglers, face painting and a treasure hunt filled out the day. Check the Facebook page for pictures. So much fun was had by all.
You are invited to our last dinner dance of the season on April 12th. We are calling it Kokomo Sail Away to send off all of our Members who will travel by boat, by plane or in their dreams to a place far away. We will have the Mark Zadens band ‘Weedline” (a fishing term) to entertain and get us dancing, whether it is ballroom early in the night or songs where you can just shake it. See you on the dance floor!
Easter and Passover will be in near term. Easter has been revamped to include the Easter Egg Hunt and Petting Zoo with pony ride. It will be a wonderful day after all. We were very fortunate to book this. Hop…hop…hop. The Easter Egg Hunt is at 1pm Sunday April 20th! On Easter we look forward to 700 reservations.
For those celebrating Passover Chag Sameach which means Happy Holiday. Julie Saypoff is hosting the dinner on April 13th and I quote, “This is not a religious event, I like to say, Good Food, good company, good times!” Make your reservations! Azeezen Pesach or Happy Passover!
As we come to the end of our high season, let’s remember to treat each other with kindness and respect. Come socialize, have fun, eat, sing, swim and dance. See you at the Club!
For The Fun of It!

Can creatures and humans communicate? Meet Marcellus and Tova Sullivan, the two main characters of Remarkably Bright Creatures, Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel which we will discuss on Friday, April 11th. Jodi Dumas will facilitate our discussion.
Marcellus is a giant Pacific Octopus, the incredibly bright creature referenced in the title. Tova Sullivan, since her husband’s passing, has been working the night shift mopping floors at Sowell Bay Aquarium, where Marcellus lives. These two form an unlikely bond. Marcellus is trapped in captivity. Tova finds that work helps her cope with the loss of her son who mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound thirty plus years ago. How these two characters help each other is the essence of this endearing story. The plot twists touch on family, friendship, loneliness, loss, and hope. Can a hard look at the past uncover a future that once felt impossible?
Please make reservations at the front desk or online and include your lunch selection from the options available. We meet in the Commodore’s Lounge. Lunch is promptly at twelve noon when the discussion begins.

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843. Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.
Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month.
1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.
2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.
3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.
4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.
Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.
Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.
Your Responsibilities When Visiting Another FCYC Club:
• Reservations should be made with the hosting club. Even if the decision to visit another FCYC club is spur-ofthe-moment, a call to the hosting club is appropriate.
• Be prepared to show evidence of your membership in another Council member club. Carry your membership card; or, be prepared to show it on your mobile phone; or, have a letter of introduction from your club.
• Inquire about dress code when making a reservation.
• Inquire about any club events that may be going on at the time you want to visit.
• Clubs in close geographic proximity to other FCYC member clubs may impose special reciprocity restrictions on the members of those clubs within close proximity. Inquire of your club about any special reciprocity restrictions that may be in place by clubs in close proximity.
• Reciprocity privileges should not be abused, including the frequency with which any one host club is visited.
• A visiting member of another FCYC club is expected to comply with the host club’s governing documents, including house and marina rules.
• Some clubs require visiting boaters to provide proof of insurance and require minimum levels of coverage. Visiting boaters should inquire of such requirements when reserving a slip.
Your Expectations of Privileges When Visiting a Host Club:
• With a few exceptions, a visiting member of another Council club should be treated no differently than a member of the visited (host) club. Two acknowledged exceptions include:
• FCYC member clubs with golf courses are not required to offer golf as a reciprocity benefit.
• Clubs may, in some cases, have a charge for visitor parking.
• Charges of a visiting FCYC member are to be billed back to the visitor’s club. While a host club may offer to settle the charges via credit card, it is the choice of the visiting member whether to settle the charges via credit card or billing to his/her home club.
• With few exceptions, the prices paid for goods and services by a visiting member of another Council for the sale of fuel and for private events hosted for a visiting member.
• Reasonable effort should be made on the part of a host club to honor the reciprocity visit request of a member of another Council club. Seasonal restrictions on reciprocity are not appropriate.
• It is understood that certain special events held at a club may result in the club being unable to extend reciprocity for very short periods of time.
• Any Council member club may decline to extend reciprocity privileges or limit the extent of reciprocal privileges to any individual member of another Council member club.
A comprehensive guide on reciprocity entitled “Reciprocity Standards - Q&A” may be found in Section J of the Council’s Information Binder, copies of which are maintained by your club’s office and FCYC Director.
Did you know your membership allows you to visit other yacht clubs around the country? If you are traveling, consider stopping by a reciprocal club!
CRYC is part of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, which means you have multiple club privileges with first class experiences!
