One of the Food & Beverage Team’s ongoing goals is to deliver outstanding service.
We would ask if you wish to have cocktails and hors d’oeuvres before dinner, please plan to arrive 30 - 40 minutes earlier than your requested reservation time. This allows the team to offer a smooth evening to all Members and guests and lets the staff in both the front and back of the house properly prepare.
We appreciate and will always try to accommodate our walk-in guests as best we can in a timely manner; however, priority will always be given to those who make reservations and those who call ahead to ask about seating availability. Just as great restaurants do, we strive to pace our Members and guests for a better flow of service. This improves the timing in the kitchen and minimizes delays. We strive to exceed your expectations and appreciate your support.
The Club’s service charge is 20%; however, for extraordinary service, you may add an additional tip under the “Extra Tip” category. Bon Appétit!
Summer is here! We are coming off a Spring season that continued to bring our Members successful and fun times at our fabulous club – Air Show, Dance Floor Dreams, Mother’s Day Brunch, 80’s Dance Party, Memorial Day, Diamonds and Denim, Father’s Day, along with Karaoke Nights, Trivia, Burgers and Bingo and the Commodore’s Steak House – a busy May and June. Again, we thank our staff that makes it all happen accommodating our Members’ wants and needs.
The Pointe. As you know, the Clubhouse will close July 14 and reopen August 12. For those worried about the heat – don’t. With ceiling fans, shades and breezes that continuously blow off the water, The Pointe is the place to gather with friends and enjoy our friendships along with delicious food.
Please check your emails for updates concerning upcoming events and other Club related matters. As always, reservations are highly recommended. If you have questions or difficulty making reservations don’t hesitate to call the Front Desk.
Membership is a privilege. Let’s show each other – Members and just as important, our staff, the same respect and kindness we would like to have shown to us.
When you see our CRYC “New Member” burgee on a table or the bar, please remember to introduce yourself, invite them to dinner, to an event or to join one or several of the many wonderful Clubs within our Club. We were all new Members once.
Warmest regards,
Paul Sheerin Commodore
The summer sailing camp is now in full swing and as previously mentioned in my last article it is completely sold out. The two-week sessions that we partner with the City of Ft. Lauderdale total 36 kids with all but a few on scholarships. The one-week sessions reserved for CRYC kids are also sold out but there is a wait list available. There will be 24 kids participating in the two one-week sessions.
Now that our highly successful Party with a Purpose is behind us, we look forward to upcoming events.
The date has been set for Foundation Day on Sunday, October 18. Everyone is invited to enjoy a day at the Pool and the Sailing Center on Sunset Bay. There will be live music for your enjoyment at the Pointe, Sailing on the Bay and of course the use of our Kayaks, Paddleboards, etc. We are also planning a Regatta on that day as well.
The Epicurean Dinner, which was previously limited to 20 guests and last year approved for 30 guests this year will be in the Commodores Lounge on Thursday November 20. Since we are already sold out for the event with 31 reservations, I had a conversation with Chef Steve, and he assured me that we can provide an equally elegant event for 40 guests. This event is truly one of the most outstanding we have at the Club featuring a gourmet dinner with white glove service, complimentary cocktails, fine wines with dinner, live music and best of all support for your Foundation.
At our last Foundation Board meeting we approved funding for a $2,500. Educational scholarship. Logistics and details to follow. We also approved a $5,000,00 donation to Scuba 4 Good. I am sure many of you have been poolside during their monthly event. It is a great cause and very much in keeping with our Mission Statement. We will also be purchasing a Laser Sailboat and an additional Paddleboard to add to our list of assets. It is nice to see that they are being used. They are available for you to use at no cost.
We continue to get equipment donations and this month we received Laser Sails and Masts from another Foundation and we received a donation of a 17-foot boat trailer from Fredrick Lepoutre. Thank you very much.
I am sure some of you have noticed our new enclosed trailer has been beautifully wrapped and features our logo and a QR code for those who might want to donate. The trailer is attractive, functional and a nice space saving addition to our sailing center. Meredith Campbell will again lead the highly successful Sunday/Funday Sailing program that she formed last year. The start date is Sunday, September 17th. You will be receiving more details from Meredith. As always, thank you very much for supporting your Foundation

This summer, the Auxiliary is all about movement—physically, mentally, and socially! With a great lineup of fun and engaging activities, we’re encouraging Members to stay active, stay connected, and enjoy every moment together.
We kicked things off in June with a fantastic line dancing session led by Joan Gremse. Whether you were a pro or just learning the steps, everyone had a blast moving to the beat and sharing plenty of laughs. Don’t be surprised if you see a little “Auxiliary Shuffle” at our next event!
In July, we’ll slow things down with chair yoga—a gentle, feel-good way to stretch, breathe, and stay active without breaking a sweat. It’s a great reminder that movement doesn’t have to be intense to be meaningful.
August will shift the focus to mental movement with activities designed to keep our minds sharp and spirits high. From creativity boosters to problem-solving fun, these gatherings are sure to bring out some smiles and good conversation.
A big thank-you to everyone who helped make our recent English Tea Party such a lovely success! Guests were treated to a delightful lunch featuring classic cucumber sandwiches, buttery scones with jam and cream, and plenty of cheerful conversation. And the hats! From elegant to whimsical, the stunning array of hats worn by our Members truly set the scene and added a touch of charm and flair to the occasion. The elegance, laughter, and sense of community made it a standout event—and yes, we’re already planning to bring it back next year.
Special thanks also go to Andrea Hellman for her beautiful and inspiring floral demonstration—it was a highlight of the afternoon and so appreciated by all.
And we’re excited to welcome three wonderful new Members to the Auxiliary: Joan Gremse, Renee Bailey, Lauren Weiss McGee, and Annette Lewandowski. We’re thrilled to have you with us and can’t wait to get to know you better!
As summer unfolds, we’ll keep moving—whether it’s dancing, stretching, thinking, or just spending quality time together. Because in the Auxiliary, movement means more than activity— it means connection, joy, and making memories that last.
If you have still not joined Auxiliary, please contact eugenedmonaco@yahoo.com I 954-801-2111

Please remember our dress code and hat policies as they pertain to the Clubhouse. Hats, caps, or visors are not allowed to be worn inside the Clubhouse (even if you are walking through to the patios or pool deck). However, you can wear hats on the Auxiliary and Burgee Patios. Appropriate bathing suits and cover-ups for ladies and similar for gentlemen and children are permitted on the Auxiliary Patio and, of course, the pool deck dining tables. (No cheeky bottoms or sheer/fishnet cover-ups are permitted.) Please make sure to share the dress code with your family and friends when bringing them to the Club to prevent any awkward situations.

As we come to the close of another remarkable season at Coral Ridge Yacht Club, it is with immense gratitude and pride that we reflect on everything we have achieved together. It has been a season filled with outstanding memories, growth, and camaraderie. To our dedicated Members, thank you for your continuous support and involvement in making this year truly exceptional.
A special thank you goes out to those who attended our recent Focus Group. Your feedback and participation are invaluable in helping us continue to enhance the member experience at CRYC. Once the data is analyzed, a full report will be given to the Board of Governors that will filter down to the committees and the next steps and or projects will be determined. For those who were unable to participate, rest assured, more opportunities will be available in the future, as we remain committed to including all voices in our ongoing efforts to enhance the overall member experience.
We also want to express our sincere appreciation for everyone’s patience during the recent pool closures. We know the pool is a central part of our community, and we are diligently working to ensure that everything is back to normal as soon as possible. Your understanding during this time has been greatly appreciated.
Looking ahead, please note that the Annual Clubhouse Shutdown will take place from July 14th to August 12th, with the Clubhouse reopening on August 13th. While the Clubhouse will be closed, we are pleased to announce that the Pool and The Pointe will remain open during this time, ensuring that our Members continue to have access to the spaces they enjoy. The Fitness Center will only be closed July 14th - 18th while the clubhouse is tented for termite mitigation.
In addition, during the Clubhouse shutdown, Mahjong and Bridge will be held at alternate locations, which will be provided by Kim Dobson. You can reach Kim directly at 954-338-0934 for further details.
For those who participate in Book Club, please note that the final meeting before the break will be held on July 11th. The next meeting will take place in September, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back.
Dance Lessons will conclude for the summer on July 9th and will resume on August 13th, ensuring that Members can continue their dance journey once the Clubhouse reopens. As we move forward, we look forward to the exciting opportunities and events on the horizon. We remain committed to fostering a vibrant, supportive community where all of our Members feel at home. Here’s to what’s next – and to making the upcoming season even better than the last!
Thank you, once again, to everyone who contributes to making Coral Ridge Yacht Club a special place. Your continued involvement and enthusiasm are what make this Club so exceptional.

Whenever you see Sebastian the Seahorse on our adult - based party invitations, it means that the Kids’ Club will be available on that night. So, you can plan your evening knowing that your children will be in safe hands and having a blast.
Embark on an adventure with our Burgee! Whether you’re sailing close to home or venturing to distant shores, we love to see our Members showcasing our Burgee.
Share your travel photos, and let us marvel at the incredible places our Burgee has been. Don’t forget to include your destination, your vessel’s name, and your names. Bon voyage and happy sailing.

Summer is here and more boating experiences with our Cruisers friends are happening. We have enjoyed a number of trips this year being the last ones in May our anchoring weekend in Nixon Beach with a day at one of the famous Stiltsville houses in Miami. We had great hosts, Chip and Neela Chipalkatty and co-hosts Kate and Brent Nelson and Eric and Maxanne Small. Chip and Neela added to the schedule an informative presentation from a Coast Guard officer who explained about water safety. The house owner also presented to us the history of Stiltsville and brought newspapers and magazines for us to read and learn more about this part of South Florida history. We were capped at no more than 50 attendees as per the Stiltsville house owner’s request. We all enjoyed a great weekend on the water and we hope we will be able to schedule another trip to Stiltsville next year.
In July we went back to Ocean Reef Club. Hosted by Jim and Ramona Fowler and Glen and Cynthia Tupler we were 90 Cruisers attending this event. The preparation for a large event like this was perfectly done by our hosts, who scheduled happy hours on boats, off boats, a white party, massages and Judy Lincoln’s famous dinghy rally. Thank you all for your efforts and for making this one the largest Cruisers event of the year!
Our July trip is in the Bahamas and we welcome all to attend. Crossing the Gulfstream as a group is a great way to do it and even better if it is with your experienced Cruisers friends. The trip will start on July 17th and end on the 21st but some Cruisers might want to extend their trips and keep going east to other islands in the Bahamas. You can find more information about this trip in the Club’s At A Glance email. If you are interested or have any questions please reach out to Giuliana 954-465-9873 or cryccruisers@gmail.com
We have also added on July 31st the incredible opportunity to be part of a Turtle Release event. This event is capped at 50 attendees and it will be at the NSU Oceanographic Center where we will learn about the dangers of turtles and how to help and then the release itself will be in Hollywood. The cost is $20 per Cruiser member and $30 for non Cruisers. The money raised will serve to make the payment and a donation to the Foundation. If you are interested please reach out to Giuliana 954-4659873 or cryccruisers@gmail.com
As a reminder, the annual Cruisers dues for 2025 are $75 per person and will be charged to your CRYC account in March as per your request. Please note these are non-refundable and partial year refunds will not be paid. The annual dues are used to support Cruisers’ Hosts and Leadership with funds to plan trips and events and be able to commit funds for banquet rooms, group minimums and entertainment. Monies from the 2024 dues were added to the contributions by the hosts and the trip attendee fees to help make each event a success. In addition to supporting the Hosts and Cruisers’ Leadership with the ability to plan events and entertainment, other benefits of being a Cruisers’ member in 2025 are:
• Attending Cruisers’ Trips and Events at Member Price
• Early Access to Sign Up for Trips, Slips and Events
• Cruiser Name Tags for New Members
• Raffles and Giveaways
• Making Great Friends
We will use these funds diligently throughout the year. We look forward to having each of you in the fun group this year and hope you can enjoy one or more of our upcoming trips including Stiltsville, Ocean Reef, Bimini Bahamas, Rybovich, Palm Harbor, Sailfish Marina among others.
At the time of writing this article, we are now at 170 Cruisers members and that is not including children. Thank you Cruisers Committee for working hard and hosting all these great trips and accommodating members that don’t have boats making all of us feel welcome and enjoy the trips we have.

The Socialites are not formally meeting again until the first Thursday in September. That said we have a lot on the books for June and of course a big cook out for July 4th! Next year’s July 4th will be our country’s 250th Birthday and we are already planning a big event for 2026! July 18th-21st the Cruisers are off to Resort World with Glenn and Cynthia Tupler hosting the event. People can fly over if they don’t have a boat and still participate in the activities.
In August, we will have the Cheeseburger in Paradise party with guitarist/singer Catfish. His songs are a tribute to Jimmy Buffet and other songs about being out on the water. Cruisers are off to Rybovich hosted by Jeff and Nancy Schoenwetter August 22 to 24th. This will be another great outing especially after Ocean Reef! If you are interested in going, get in touch with Nancy, Jeff or our current Cruiser Chair Guiliana Hirshon.
During the summer there are still great things to do! Bridge Club meets every Friday from 11 to 3 in the card room and if you need a little brush up Kim Dobson leads the way Wednesdays 9:30am to 12pm. Mahjong is on Wednesdays either on the Pointe or in the Burgee Bar. Burgers and Bingo with Alexis Promuto on August 20th and September 17th. On August 31th will be Sunday Fun Day with Pipe music.
I am jumping ahead to September because it’s coming on with a bang! For Labor Day we have DJ Kevin who everyone likes! He’s great with the music and activities! Karaoke is back on the first Thursday of September.
Brandon and Jules did an outstanding job of hosting Karaoke June 4th and they are coming back to start off our new season. People please let them know how much you enjoyed the evening and how much we want our two crazy guys back monthly! They have a Club Wide event in the works as well.
On September 13th is the Palm Royale Party. If you haven’t watched the show Palm Royale please, do so. It’s early Palm Beach. It’s absolutely hysterical starring Carol Burnette, Kristin Wigg and Rickie Martin. Wanye the Entertainer will host the Beach Ball! It’s fun for everyone!
Finally, on September 27th Patty and Paul Sheerin will host the White Party with our own house band the Tiger Lillies! All white attire is a must and don’t forget your dancing shoes!
See you at the Club!

A big “Thank you” goes out to all our facilitators who graciously made our 202425 season so successful! Our 2025-26 season will kick off this coming September and promises to be just as exciting. Between now and then, our get-togethers take a more casual turn. On June 13th, we met in the Commodore’s Lounge, where we informally discussed books of interest. We will meet again for lunch on Friday, July 11th at 12 noon, in the Commodore’s Lounge, for more informal discussions.

Observing Colors is a time-honored ceremony adopted by the US Navy in 1843.
Service members and civilians take part in this long - standing tradition to reflect on the sacrifices of the women and men who devoted their lives to protect our nation’s shores from foes. To many, this custom is rooted in a sense of deep pride and is a symbol of admiration.
Friday Colors is observed on the First Friday of each Month.
1. Approximately ten minutes before sunset, as calculated by the Fleet Captain, the word is passed “First call, first call to color.” The honor guard of the day will form near the point of hoist of the ensign. At that time, there will be no services provided by the CRYC and its staff, including the bars, until after the conclusion of Colors and the ensign has been presented to the proper authority.
2. Immediately before sunset, “Attention” is sounded by one horn blast, blown on a whistle, or eight bells is sounded. ALL PERSONS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, within sight or hearing, face the ensign, remove their head gear, place their right hand over their heart and STAND AT ATTENTION and REMAIN SILENT unless singing the National Anthem. Boats in the vicinity lie to, or proceed at the slowest possible speed, and the boat officer or coxswain stands and salutes.
3. The order “Execute” is then given: the cannon will be fired, and the ensign is lowered slowly. The National Anthem or “To the Colors” (Retreat) will be played with the ensign starting down the staff.
4. When the ensign is completely lowered, folded, and presented to the proper authority, the word is passed “Carry on,” at which time, salutes are terminated, and the ceremony is over.
Congressional Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on October 14, 2009, entitles retired or former military members in civilian to render the hand salute.
Let’s show our pride and respect at CRYC and abide by proper flag etiquette. Flag etiquette reminded: All yacht ensigns should also be struck (taken down and removed) at sunset until the following day.
Your Responsibilities When Visiting Another FCYC Club:
• Reservations should be made with the hosting club. Even if the decision to visit another FCYC club is spur-ofthe-moment, a call to the hosting club is appropriate.
• Be prepared to show evidence of your membership in another Council member club. Carry your membership card; or, be prepared to show it on your mobile phone; or, have a letter of introduction from your club.
• Inquire about dress code when making a reservation.
• Inquire about any club events that may be going on at the time you want to visit.
• Clubs in close geographic proximity to other FCYC member clubs may impose special reciprocity restrictions on the members of those clubs within close proximity. Inquire of your club about any special reciprocity restrictions that may be in place by clubs in close proximity.
• Reciprocity privileges should not be abused, including the frequency with which any one host club is visited.
• A visiting member of another FCYC club is expected to comply with the host club’s governing documents, including house and marina rules.
• Some clubs require visiting boaters to provide proof of insurance and require minimum levels of coverage. Visiting boaters should inquire of such requirements when reserving a slip.
Your Expectations of Privileges When Visiting a Host Club:
• With a few exceptions, a visiting member of another Council club should be treated no differently than a member of the visited (host) club. Two acknowledged exceptions include:
• FCYC member clubs with golf courses are not required to offer golf as a reciprocity benefit.
• Clubs may, in some cases, have a charge for visitor parking.
• Charges of a visiting FCYC member are to be billed back to the visitor’s club. While a host club may offer to settle the charges via credit card, it is the choice of the visiting member whether to settle the charges via credit card or billing to his/her home club.
• With few exceptions, the prices paid for goods and services by a visiting member of another Council for the sale of fuel and for private events hosted for a visiting member.
• Reasonable effort should be made on the part of a host club to honor the reciprocity visit request of a member of another Council club. Seasonal restrictions on reciprocity are not appropriate.
• It is understood that certain special events held at a club may result in the club being unable to extend reciprocity for very short periods of time.
• Any Council member club may decline to extend reciprocity privileges or limit the extent of reciprocal privileges to any individual member of another Council member club.
A comprehensive guide on reciprocity entitled “Reciprocity Standards - Q&A” may be found in Section J of the Council’s Information Binder, copies of which are maintained by your club’s office and FCYC Director.
Did you know your membership allows you to visit other yacht clubs around the country? If you are traveling, consider stopping by a reciprocal club!
CRYC is part of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs, which means you have multiple club privileges with first class experiences!
