MLK’s Day of Service theme this year is Cultivating a Beloved Community Mindset to Transform Unjust Systems. What better way for us to start 2023 then to continue to fight for our human rights and freedom from sex discrimination.
LOS ANGELES, CA—Cynthia Mitchell Heard, a highly respected leader in nonprofit, has joined the Los Angeles Urban League (LAUL) as its chief operating officer (COO). The announcement was made by Ambassador Michael A. Lawson, President and CEO of the perennial civil rights organization. The appointment is a historic one for the iconic organization, with Mitchell Heard becoming the first woman to hold this leadership position at LAUL.
“We are excited to have Cynthia Heard as our new chief operating officer,” said Lawson. “Ms. Heard has an extensive background and experience in the non-profit world and her accomplishments in bettering the lives of disenfranchised communities in Los Angeles are admirable and remarkable. We are looking forward to her leadership as we move the Los Angeles Urban League into its second 100 years of service.”
Mitchell Heard previously served as Vice President of Business Development and Communications for the YWCA Greater Los Angeles (YWCA, GLA), creating and helming unprecedented social impact campaigns which serve as a blueprint for systemic change. Mitchell Heard created a myriad of public/private, state, local and federal partnerships to design innovative community and operational collaborations throughout Los Angeles County to fund supportive services.
During the COVID 19 pandemic, she developed key funding mechanisms through her steadfast efforts and assisted with promoting economic stability through public private workforce development, community engagement and securing resources to improve disenfranchised communities that experienced lack of access.
Prior, Mitchell. Heard served as senior executive vice
president of Programs for Children Uniting Nations (CUN) where she developed national collaborative stakeholder partnerships and created statewide bi-partisan advocacy initiatives that focused on new avenues to break down the barriers that surround at-risk/foster youth and marginalized families.
“It is my honor to join President & CEO, Michael Lawson, and the entire team at the Los Angeles Urban League,” said Mitchell Heard. “I am truly looking forward to embracing the mission of LAUL and the commitment of this stellar team as we continue the advancement of the ongoing community engagement programs, economic stability/self-reliance, civil rights advocacy and the workforce enrichment of our marginalized and disenfranchised communities throughout Los Angeles.”
This year would have marked the 50th anniversary of Roe. However, the recent Dobbs decision by the Supreme Court tossed out the right to a safe and legal abortion that people who become pregnant have come to expect and instead left these vital rights in the hands of each state to decide. This has resulted in unequal, unfair and unjust consequences for people that happen to reside in a state that now bans or restricts abortion access. The consequences are especially severe for low-income, Black, Indigenous, and other people of color.
Imagine finding out you are pregnant and your partner all of a sudden disappears” and you are working full time in a low-income job. You already have 2 children) and live in a state that has now banned abortion. What do you do? Where do you begin? This is a common scenario for most patients that Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP) serves.
Although abortions are one of the safest and most common (1 in 4) health care procedures in the US communities of color and those with low-income face huge barriers when it comes to access and
care.
Initially the individual has to do research to find a clinic outside their state and book an appointment. That is not always easy to do since many out of state clinics are working hard to navigate a surge in patients. The person also has to look at taking time off from work, childcare and be able to afford gas and/or travel expenses. Once the individual finds out the cost which can range anywhere from $700— $1,500 depending on the state they then have to figure out how to pay for their abortion and any travel related expenses.
At WRRAP we have a streamlined system that allows us to work directly with clinics on a daily basis to provide the funding support necessary for a person seeking abortion care. We also work in solidarity with other funds that provide “practical support (gas, airfare, child support, etc.)”.
Since Dobbs, the need for these services has grown and we have continued to stand strong in our ability to fund patients from Coast to Coast. In fact, this past year we pledged out over $1.4M to over 6,000 patients, many (38%) having to travel to an-
other state for abortion care.
In recent weeks the FDA has approved allowing retail pharmacies to dispense the abortion pill.
This is a huge victory in terms of access and reducing the time it takes to have the pill delivered by mail.
Yet, we know that not every pharmacy will be moving forward with dispensing pills due to the administrative barriers involved that most other medications do not require. So many pharmacies may not have the time or resources to offer the pills.
Over 67% of WRRAP’s funding is for patients in their first trimester and having better access to receive the pills is key in helping patients get the care they need and want.
While we will always honor Roe, our movement is now stronger and bigger than Roe.
The midterm elections are proof that people continue to voice their opinion that abortion is a common and safe healthcare procedure and a decision to be made between a doctor and a patient –not any state or federal government.
This year on the anniversary of Roe we won’t be celebrating, instead we will be pushing forward to dismantle this unjust system and to ensure ALL people have access to safe and legal abortions no matter where they live.
Sylvia Ghazarian is Executive Director of the Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project (WRRAP), a nonprofit abortion fund that provides urgently-needed financial assistance on a national level to those seeking abortion or emergency contraception. She is an active Council member on the California Future of Abortion Council and past Chair of The Commission on the Status of Women.
An estimated 3.45 million Muslim Americans will soon be celebrating the most holy month in the Islamic calendar: Ramadan, which begins in March.
During this sacred time, Muslims will pray, fast, visit the mosque and conduct charitable giving, or what is known as “zakat.” Muslims believe that not only does this charity belong rightfully to the poor, but giving zakat also purifies their wealth and cleanses the soul from worldly corruption. As a result, just two weeks into the year, Zakat Foundation of America, the country’s leading zakat experts, are already gearing up for an exhilarating and busy Ramadan season.
Preparations include not only overtures in the United States, but in the over 40 counties in which Zakat Foundation of America does its charitable work. Throughout the globe during the Ramadan season, the hu-
manitarian nonprofit will distribute millions of fresh meals as well as continuing to assist orphans and clean water projects for sustainability.
Already, the team stateside is busy working on awareness and outreach campaigns to help Muslim Americans understand the simple message “Your Zakat Matters” and urge them to fulfill their zakat obligations. Indeed, it takes just $5 to sponsor a meal for Ramadan and just $30 to give an orphan a special Eid gift (a celebration at the end of Ramadan). These and other donation options will be available for zakat giving during Ramadan not only to Muslim Americans, but to anyone who wishes to help those in need.
Halil Demir, founder and executive director of Zakat Foundation of America, believes that all peoples should be served when needs arise.
“Poverty does not know religion. When you are hungry, it doesn’t matter what religion you are,” he said.
Zakat Foundation of America has intentionally aligned itself with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which strives to alleviate poverty and see the world have zero hunger (Goals 1 & 2, respectively). The Ramadan season will be a big strive for the organization toward those goals.
Zakat Foundation of America also has several tools designed to make Ramadan giving simple and easy. The website hosts tools such as a zakat calculator, resource center, detailed handbook, as well as reminders and auto giving for the last 10 nights of Ramadan.

LOS ANGELES—Los
Smith as the Chancellor’s Equity and Justice Fellow. Her assignment started on January 11.
Guided by LACCD’s Framework for Racial Equity and Social Justice, this new appointment will provide leadership and advance district strategies for diversity, equity, inclusion and access (DEIA). Key to this work is strengthening partnerships, allyship and collaboration across the district by championing DEIA work and supporting underrepresented groups.
“With the district’s laser focus on equity, inclusion, diversity, and outreach, Dr. Smith’s fearless advocacy for students and underserved communities will be a key voice for the district,” said Chancellor Rodriguez. “Our board of trustees and leadership team look forward to partnering with her to better serve our community and region.”
“I’m honored to serve as the new Equity and Justice Fellow where I can continue my work of expanding advocacy and opportunity for all in the district,” says Dr. Smith. “With the chancellor’s ambitious plan to address relevant issues of equity and access to education in Los Angeles, I look forward to this partnership.“
Before this appointment, Dr. Smith most recently served as the vice president of student services at Los Angeles City College. In this role, she provided experience and expertise in advancing equity and opportunity for underserved populations. She also developed programming and awareness surrounding social justice, educational equity, and inclusion for all students.
As an advocate for women, Dr. Smith currently serves as vice president for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Commission for Women, her goal is to create a gateway to educate and build strong alliances and resources to assist underserved communities in accessing doors that would otherwise be closed.
Dr. Smith earned her doctoral degree from the University of Southern California (USC), examining factors in women’s advancement in higher education. She has also been an educator and leader in health services as a senior consultant for the California State Legislature Health Committee.
Los Angeles County moved to accelerate its implementation of CARE Court, the state’s new framework to deliver ental health and substance use disorder services to Californians suffering from severe mental health disorders. The County is working to implement the CARE Act by December 1, 2023, one year ahead of schedule.
Los Angeles County, the state’s most populous, will join the original seven counties committed to implementing CARE Court in 2023: the counties of Glenn, San Diego, San Francisco, Tuolumne, Stanislaus, Orange and Riverside.
“CARE Court brings real progress and accountability at all levels to fix the broken system that is failing too many Californians in crisis,” said Governor Gavin Newsom. “I commend Los Angeles County leaders, the courts, and all the local government partners and stakeholders across the state who are taking urgent action to make this lifesaving initiative a reality for thousands of struggling Californians.”
The announcement comes just days after the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to declare a local emergency for homelessness, clearing the way for an expedited and regional response to the crisis. “We are in a homelessness emergency and we know that many who are living on our streets are struggling with severe mental illness. Governor Newsom’s Care Court model has been a missing piece in our effort to bring people inside,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
“Across Los Angeles County, we have seen the effects of our mental health crisis spilling out onto our streets. Too many residents with severe mental health issues lack adequate treatment and often find themselves in a devastating cycle between our emergency departments, our jails, and falling into homelessness,” said Los Angeles
County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, First District. “CARE Court will provide people with untreated mental health issues an opportunity to get stabilized in a compassionate manner. I want to thank Governor Newsom for including Los Angeles County as one of the first participants, and I look forward to working with him to ensure a swift and effective implementation.”
“I support bringing CARE Court to our county. It allows us to be on the ground floor of a new program where a lot of processes and implementation details still need to be worked out. Our county needs to have a seat at the table so we can effectively bring healing to individuals living with debilitating mental illness on our streets,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Fifth District. “We need a coordinated and consistent approach to help these individuals, and CARE Court is poised to help us meet that mission. Severe mental illness doesn’t resolve itself.”
“I want to thank the Governor for his leadership. It is profoundly inhumane to allow people to suffer mental illness and die on our streets,” said Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. “We will lock arms with Los Angeles County, building CARE Courts and expanding mental health and substance abuse programs to help Angelenos get well while respecting all civil liberties.”
“The Superior Court of Los Angeles County is eager to collaborate with our state and county partners to expedite the launch of CARE Court to address the mental health crisis in Los Angeles County,” said Presiding Judge Samantha P. Jessner. “Our Court has a long history of establishing innovative programs that help those experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders and other challenges. We commend the Governor and legislative leaders for their bold vision to help vulnerable populations and their families.

“A Man Called Otto” has not been a well-marketed film. The strategy of the film’s advertising seems to be, “You know how Tom Hanks usually plays likeable/heroic characters to go along with his reputation for being a nice guy in real life? Come to this movie to get the opposite of that!
See his versatility as he complains in a phony-sounding growly voice for 90% of the movie, followed by a heartwarming turnaround so sweet that
most of the audience will be making the universal sign for gagging. It’ll be unpleasant until it isn’t!”
First of all, it’s not like Tom Hanks has never gone grouchy before. I can watch everything from “A League of Their Own” to the recent “News of the World” to frankly most of “Toy Story” to see Hanks be grumpy without the movie needing to use it as a selling point. Second, if the film needs to draw that much attention to its unpleasantness, I don’t want to see it. I didn’t want to see “A Man Called Otto,”
and would not have gone to see it had it not earned enough money to warrant a review.
Fortunately, the film worked better in one large dose than it did in several smaller ones. Yes, Hanks’ Otto Anderson spends most of the first act complaining. He complains that rope at the hardware store is sold by the yard and not by the foot. He complains that his neighbors don’t obey simple parking and driving rules in his housing complex.
He complains about a stray cat that won’t leave him alone. He complains about his job forcing him to retire. He complains about a real estate company trying to force everyone out of their homes. He complains that America is dying. He’s planning to beat it to the punch, hence the need for
the five feet of rope… Otto’s plans keep getting interrupted, usually by neighbors who need him for something. He’s handy with tools and usually willing to do a favor if it means there will be order in the world. The film never delves deeply into his mental health, though he is definitely suffering from depression following the passing of his wife and probably has either OCD or something close to it.
It does dwell on his physical health – namely a heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. I’ve heard the term before, and I had to grit my teeth every time it came up because I knew that its definition would eventually be treated as a punchline. I was right and it was just as painful as I imagined.
The ads do get the bare
bones of the story and tone right, but what they don’t show is that the movie is very good at showing “why” Otto acts this way. Sometimes his complaints are completely justified, like when he gets into a fight with an antagonistic clown (Otto keeps his temper in check longer than I would have).
Sometimes they’re understandable because of things that have happened in Otto’s past. For these scenes, the film brings in Hanks’ son Truman to play a younger version of Otto. These flashbacks may interrupt the flow of the present-day story, but the movie wouldn’t work without them.
“A Man Called Otto” ultimately works because the character is more fleshedout than the advertising makes it seem. It shouldn’t
be surprising, given that the role attracted an actor the caliber of Hanks, but things weren’t looking promising at first. As for the character’s grating voice and mannerisms, they’re initially jarring, but you’ll barely notice them after a while.
Broad characters like Otto thrive better in twohour movies where audiences can warm up to them than in spaced-out trailers and commercials where they can be jarring every time. Just like Otto himself, the performance and the movie require some patience, but they shouldn’t be written off.
Grade: B-
“A Man Called Otto” is rated PG-13 for mature thematic material involving suicide attempts, and language. Its running time is 126 minutes.
LOS ANGELES-Andrew Whitworth won a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams. As an individual with a heart for the community, Whitworth was chosen as the 2021 Walter Payton Man of the Year. Well, after retiring from the game of football, Whitworth is still giving his heart to local communities.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles-Challengers Clubhouse is all good because of Whitworth’s latest charity offering. Whitworth, through the NFL Foundation and Nationwide, dropped a donation of $250,000 to refurbish the track at the South Los Angeles facility.
“I have had the opportunity to be involved with Boys & Girls Clubs my entire NFL career making this field dedication incredibly meaningful to me,” said Whitworth. “Whether outside Cincinnati or in South LA, the impact of Boys & Girls Clubs is a constant in the lives of kids who need it most. Today is about more than a field, this is about locking arms with Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles and joining them in their daily investment in our youth.”
With support from Cedars-Sinai and Bridgestone, the refurbishment includes a new 50-yard turf field, new bleachers, shaded and covered seating areas and updated signage to contribute to the future of the young athletes who call Challengers Clubhouse home.
Serving over 150 kids per day, the Challengers Clubhouse has the only track and field in the community and is a home for local football games, track & field tournaments, summer camps and sport clinics.
In addition, the track and field is used by 300 elementary students from ICEF (Inner City Education Foundation) Innovation Los Angeles Charter
School every morning. Since 1968, Challengers Clubhouse has served more than 34,000 youth.
Whitworth, a four-time Pro-Bowler and two-time All-Pro, was a core pillar of the Rams offense, becoming
the first 40-year-old offensive lineman to start an NFL game in nearly two decades. Whitworth recorded 239 career games with 235 starts during his 16-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles
and Bridgestone for their commitment to furthering BGCMLA’s mission to create safe spaces for our youth to learn, grow and play,” said Patrick Mahoney, chief executive officer of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles.
The new field will serve as a site for the newly established and free Los Angeles Rams Flag Football League that will kick off at the end of the month. In partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the league will serve more than 300 youth (ages 5-14) from eight Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Southern California. Each league will feature an 8-week season. The Rams will provide reversible flag jerseys, flag belts, footballs and coaching resource guides for the league.

The launch of the flag league will be paired with a content piece highlighting the efforts of Andrew Whitworth, the Los Angeles Rams, Cedars-Sinai and Bridgestone, and the impact the refurbished field will have on the community.
“As the official health partner of the Los Angeles Rams, Cedars-Sinai is excited to collaborate with the Rams to support year-round programming at the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles to further enrich health education and empower families and youth to put their health and wellbeing first,” said Cindy Chavira, MBA, executive director of Women and Children’s Services at Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s. “This comes at a particularly auspicious time for Cedars-Sinai as we increase our commitment to children’s health through Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s and the recently opened Pediatric Unit, a new facility dedicated to pediatric patients and their families offering highly specialized care.”
Bridgestone, official tire sponsor of the Los Angeles Rams, has proudly supported Boys & Girls Clubs of America since 2015. They are committed to supporting the Challengers Clubhouse, including this field and other initiatives. At the event, Bridgestone announced an additional $10,000 donation to Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles.
seen issues that continue to plague underserved communities in Los Angeles and beyond.
“We are grateful to Andrew Whitworth for supporting our South LA youth and to the Rams, Cedars-Sinai
“Thanks to the dedication of Andrew Whitworth and the LA Rams, Club youth in Metro Los Angeles will have a safe place to play and build a strong community,” said Brandon Gleason, region manager, Bridgestone Retail Operations. “We are so proud of the impact our Boys & Girls Clubs Driving Great Futures partnership has made nationwide over the past seven years, and we are grateful to help make an impact right here in LA.”
As the nation prepares to celebrate the holiday honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, the city of Boston has a very special gift: a new memorial is being unveiled January 13 in Boston Common, the beautiful public park at the city’s center, honoring Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King.
The 22-foot-tall bronze sculpture anchoring the memorial, “The Embrace,” is the first large monument to be installed in Boston Common in 125 years. The powerful piece depicts the Kings’ shoulders, arms, and hands curved around each other in its namesake hug.
The memorial is the vision of the nonprofit Embrace Boston (originally named King Boston), which has been working with the City of Boston and the Boston Foundation to create a living memorial and programs to honor the legacy of Dr. and Mrs. King in the city where they met as he was earning his Ph.D. in theology at Boston University and she was earning her second bachelor’s degree at the New England Conservatory of Music.
From the beginning it was critical that it celebrate both Kings and their shared work. Imari Paris Jeffries, the executive director of Embrace Boston, noted at the groundbreaking that the sculpture is meant to be a symbol of love along with being a symbol of equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice.
The sculpture’s creator, artist Hank Willis Thomas, based “The Embrace” on a photograph of Dr. and Mrs. King just after they learned Dr. King had been awarded the 1964 Nobel Peace Prize.
He explained in a recent interview why that particular photo inspired his design: “I just love that image, him hugging her with such glee and such joy and such pride, and I saw the pride on her face. And I recognized that this was teamwork. And all of his weight in that picture is on her . . . I was not alive when he was alive. She was the symbol. Her grace, her presence was palpable.
And I thought that was a pretty powerful metaphor
for their legacy, that she put his legacy on her shoulders and carried it for almost half a century.” Now this new memorial is a permanent tribute to that shared legacy.
The sculpture is set at the center of the 1965 Freedom Rally Memorial Plaza, which has a quilt-like design that honors 69 local leaders who fought for civil rights and social justice and memorializes the freedom march Dr. King led from Boston’s historic Black Roxbury neighborhood to the center of Boston Common in April 1965.
Dr. King told the crowd gathered that day, “Now is the time to make real the promise of democracy. Now is the time to make brotherhood a reality. Now is the time.” When local officials, community organizers, and sponsors gathered for the groundbreaking last April on what would have been Mrs. King’s 95th birthday, many expressed the hope this memorial will serve as a powerful reminder that right now is still that time.
As philanthropist and supporter Demond Martin put it, “While we’ll marvel at the art, we can’t forget about the action. If we simply celebrate the symbol and don’t do a better job of feeding the hungry, providing enhanced education and economic opportunities for black and brown people, then we fail. We fail at the very thing that Dr. King and Mrs. King strived for and Dr. King died for.”
That is the urgent message we all need to remember as we seek to honor Dr. and Mrs. King’s legacy on Dr. King’s birthday and every day. The King family has long urged that the King Holiday be celebrated as a day of service and “a day on, not a day off.” We should never simply celebrate the symbol and neglect to keep going on the work.
Back in Boston, Hank Williams Thomas explained that “The Embrace” is designed on a scale that will allow visitors to walk through the space in the center of the sculptural arms and feel they are actually part of the spirit of that embrace. Imagining that sensation and the reminder that we are all invited to be part of the same legacy should be an inspiration to everyone.
Our family’s Christmas this year was the best one yet. But, of course, The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage says that every year. I completely agree with her this year.
Our great-granddaughter served as the focal point of our Christmas this year. She assumed that position because she was born two weeks before Christmas. What a gift.
This is our second great-grandchild. The first one is in Ohio, and we don’t get to see him very often. But this new great-granddaughter is only seven minutes from our house. I was to realize what a difference that would be.
My granddaughter’s mother and grandmother are now there to support this precious little great-granddaughter.

week was an interest ing one.
the Parsonage came to my office on Monday morning as I was working and said, “I’m going to visit my great-granddaughter, and I prepared lunch in the refrigerator for you in case I don’t get back in time.”
She sped off and drove to the great-granddaughter’s house without waiting for any response from me.
It was a relatively quiet morning. I stopped to check the time and realized it was time to eat. When I entered the kitchen, it was completely dark and quiet. I then recalled her mentioning going to the great-granddaughter’s house.
My lunch was in the refrigerator, just as she had predicted. So I took the lunch plate out of the fridge and sat in my chair to eat my meal. I then returned to the kitchen with my empty plate and entered my office to continue working on my day’s project.
Because I had not heard any sounds coming from the other rooms of the house. I decided to check on the infamous great-grandmother. She wasn’t anywhere in sight.
I hoped she didn’t have an accident because I didn’t know where she could be. That started to worry me. She’s never been known to leave
the house for an extended period without sending me a text or making a phone call. Did she have a problem of some sort?
I was ready to text her on my cell phone when I heard her pull into the driveway. Then, as she entered the door, she said, “I forgot what time it was. I was having so much fun….” Then she began story after story of time with her great-granddaughter that day.
When I woke up the following morning, her side of the bed was vacant. I assumed she awoke early to prepare breakfast. There was no one in the kitchen when I went there.
Looking around, I noticed a note on the refrigerator, “My great-granddaughter needed me this morning, so I dropped everything to go and help her. Make your own breakfast.”
Making a meal was simple because I’m not much of a breakfast hound dog. So the coffee was the main component of my breakfast, and

When lunchtime arrived, I made my lunch. There’s nothing better than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch and a hot cup of coffee. So I returned to my desk after lunch to pick up on my work.
I paused and listened for a while after lunch, but there was only silence. I was starting to worry a little bit. Was the great-granddaughter ill, or did the great-grandmother get into some accident returning home?
Where is The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage?
Then I heard her drive into the driveway, exit the car, and enter the house. Then, I asked, “Is the great-granddaughter having any problems?”
“Oh, the great-granddaughter is doing great,” she said, beaming one of those smiles in my direction. “I spent the entire day with her and had a great time.”
She then began a series of stories about herself and her great-granddaughter, giggling while she told me various details about that young baby.
After a few weeks, whenever I ask myself, “Where is The Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage?” I only have to think about that great-granddaughter. That’s where she is.

NOTICE TO POTENTIAL BIDDERS: If you are considering bidding on this property lien, you should understand that there are risks involved in bidding at a trustee auction. You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be
aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call (800) 683-2438 or visit this Internet
Web site www.Xome.com, using the file number assigned to this case 17-48982. Information about postponements that are very short in duration or that occur close in time to the scheduled sale may not immediately be reflected in the telephone information or on the Internet Web site. The best way to verify postponement information is to attend the scheduled sale. NOTICE TO TENANT: You may have a right to purchase this property after the trustee auction pursuant to Section 2924m of the California Civil Code. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder,” you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call (800) 683-2438, or visit this internet website www.Xome.com, using the file number assigned to this case 17-48982 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale. If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase.

If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. If you wish to learn whether your sale date has been postponed, and, if applicable, the rescheduled time and date for the sale of this property, you may call 833-561-0243 for information regarding the trustee’s sale or visit this Internet Web site WWW.SALES.BDFGROUP. COM for information regarding the sale of this property, using the file number assigned to this case 00000009569252. If you are an “eligible tenant buyer,” you can purchase the property if you match the last
and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. If you are an “eligible bidder”, you may be able to purchase the property if you exceed the last and highest bid placed at the trustee auction. There are three steps to exercising this right of purchase. First, 48 hours after the date of the trustee sale, you can call 833-5610243, or visit this internet website WWW.SALES.BDFGROUP.COM using the file number assigned to this case 00000009569252 to find the date on which the trustee’s sale was held, the amount of the last and highest bid, and the address of the trustee. Second, you must send a written notice of intent to place a bid so that the trustee receives it no more than 15 days after the trustee’s sale. Third, you must submit a bid so that the
trustee receives it no more than 45 days after the trustee’s sale. If you think you may qualify as an “eligible tenant buyer” or “eligible bidder,” you should consider contacting an attorney or appropriate real estate professional immediately for advice regarding this potential right to purchase.
