I was four years old the first time I arrived in Casa de Campo. The resort was in its early days: fewer than 200 villas and perhaps not many more hotel rooms. Even then, there was something magnetic about it. I have vivid memories of exploring by golf cart with my family, traversing what are now legendary golf courses and neighborhoods filled with some of the most stunning villas in the Caribbean.
Back then, there was no Marina — just open land and the feeling of potential. That’s what made walking through the Marina recently with my son such a powerful, full-circle moment. He was older than I had been when I first came here, and he was seeing a Casa de Campo I couldn’t have imagined as a child: sophisticated, connected and yet, somehow still deeply familiar. That’s the magic of Casa de Campo. It doesn’t stand still. It evolves — with intention and with respect for what has come before.
This issue honors 50 years of that balance: vision and care, innovation and legacy. We pay homage to the foundation on which this community was built, from the tribute to Frank Sinatra’s iconic Concert for the Americas — performed in the amphitheater he helped inaugurate — to stories of the early pioneers, like architect Gianfranco Fini.
But we’re equally focused on the future. The transformation of Minitas Beach, the dynamic energy of events like Quimbara and the Kany García concert, and the airport’s increased global connectivity — these all point to a Casa de Campo that is not only honoring its legacy but actively shaping its next chapter.
We also spotlight a new generation of ambassadors who have carried the Casa de Campo spirit far beyond our gates. Tennis pro Nicolás Moreno de Alborán. Artists like Emmanuel Johnson and Rebeca Marte De La Rosa. These are people who grew up here or were shaped here and are now shaping the world in return.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing stewardship of this place — a vision that continues to build momentum under a new generation of leadership. You can feel it. In the conversations. In the pace of progress. In the renewed sense of shared purpose.
And most of all, in the community itself. The commitment of foundations like PBO and Fundación MIR and the generosity of countless residents and friends remind us that Casa de Campo has always been more than a destination — it’s a legacy we build together.

OR REBECA MARTE DE LA ROSA, art is more than a profession — it’s a way of understanding herself and the world around her. Born in La Romana, Marte De La Rosa recalls feeling lost academically as a child until she discovered art in its many forms — painting, music and dance. “I found my place in the world,” she says. “It has made me more creative, extroverted and confident in who I am and what I believe in.”
A graduate of the prestigious Chavón The School of Design, she holds a degree in fine arts and illustration. Now, she balances life as a freelance artist and an educator, drawing inspiration from the everyday lives of Dominicans.
THE CREATIVE PROCESS: SPONTANEITY MEETS PLANNING
Marte De La Rosa describes her process as both structured and impulsive. While she sketches and gathers references, she also allows herself to follow the energy of the moment. “I love starting

EL PROCESO CREATIVO: ESPONTANEIDAD Y PLANIFICACIÓN
Marte De La Rosa describe su proceso como estructurado e impulsivo a la vez. Si bien realiza bocetos y recopila referencias, también se deja llevar por la energía del momento. “Me encanta

Her favorite medium is watercolor, but for her latest exhibition, she embraced acrylic on canvas. Experimentation plays a key role in her work, especially with collage. “I love taking things I find around the house and giving them new life,” she says. This openness to materials and techniques allows her to create dynamic compositions that reflect both tradition and modernity.
BATEYES Y PALACIOS: A TRIBUTE TO DOMINICAN IDENTITY
Her latest exhibition, Bateyes y Palacios, which was on display at the Altos de Chavón Art Gallery from Jan. 17 to Feb. 17, 2025, was a celebration of Dominican resilience and joy. While fellow artist Emmanuel Johnson explores the region’s African influences, Marte De La Rosa’s pieces focus on the daily lives of Dominicans. “We find beauty in our everyday labor,” she says. “We are a joyful, grateful people, happy with what we have.”
Among her standout works is La Marchanta del 84, “The way different elements come together in this work makes it special to me,” she says. “I wanted to highlight their strength, their perseverance. These women bring color and life to our communities.” But here’s the catch: she painted them in grayscale, inviting viewers to imagine the colors for themselves. Another of her personal favorites is 3 por 100, which captures the vibrancy of Dominican street vendors.

Su más reciente exposición, Bateyes y Palacios, que estuvo en exhibición en la Galería de Arte de Altos de Chavón del 17 de enero al 17 de febrero de 2025, celebró la resiliencia y la alegría del pueblo dominicano. Mientras su colega Emmanuel Johnson exploró las influencias africanas en la región, Marte De La Rosa se enfocó en la vida cotidiana de los dominicanos. “Encontramos belleza en nuestro trabajo diario”, afirma. “Somos un pueblo alegre, agradecido y feliz con lo que tenemos”.
Entre sus obras destacadas está La Marchanta del 84. “La forma en que se combinan distintos elementos en esta pieza la hace especial para mí”, dice. “Quería resaltar su fortaleza y perseverancia. Estas mujeres traen color y vida a nuestras comunidades”. Pero aquí está el detalle: omitió los colores, pintándolas en escala de grises, invitando al espectador a imaginarlos. Otra de sus favoritas es 3 por 100, que captura la vibrante presencia de los vendedores ambulantes dominicanos.

Marte De La Rosa finds inspiration in nature, the people around her and the greats of art history, particularly Degas and Monet. One defining moment in her artistic journey was meeting Puerto Rican artist Sandro Figueroa García, artistically known as Sen2 Figueroa, while waiting for admission results from Altos de Chavón. “His words of wisdom stuck with me. Our styles are completely different, but his passion for art was truly inspiring,” she says.
Faith also plays a central role in her work. “One of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had as an artist is worshiping through my art,” she explains. “It has changed the way I think critically and allowed me to break certain artistic conventions.”
LEARNING, TEACHING AND GROWING
Her time at Chavón The School of Design shaped her as an artist. “I arrived in 2018 as a complete novice,” she recalls. The school, known for its rigorous training, pushed her limits and helped her develop her unique style. As for criticism? She welcomes it. “A good critique can help you grow. I love hearing people discuss my work, even if they don’t like it.” Now, as a teacher, she passes that knowledge on to others. Her advice to aspiring artists? “Never stop dreaming. Always have something more to give. Surround yourself with people who will offer wisdom and guidance.”
LOOKING AHEAD
While she prefers to take life one day at a time, Marte De La Rosa does have one goal: launching a project with her husband focused on fostering creativity in young children. “Art gave me a voice,” she says. “I’d love to help kids find theirs.”

Su fe también juega un papel central en su obra. “Una de las experiencias más significativas que he tenido como artista es adorar a Dios a través de mi arte”, explica. “Me ha cambiado la forma de pensar críticamente y me ha permitido romper con ciertas convenciones artísticas”.
APRENDER, ENSEÑAR Y CRECER
Su paso por Chavón La Escuela de Diseño la transformó como artista. “Llegué en 2018 sin experiencia”, recuerda. La escuela, conocida por su exigente formación, la desafió a desarrollar un estilo propio. ¿Y la crítica? La recibe con los brazos abiertos. “Una buena crítica puede ayudarte a crecer. Me encanta escuchar a la gente hablar de mi trabajo, incluso si no les gusta”. Ahora, como profesora, transmite esos aprendizajes a sus alumnos.
Su consejo para los artistas emergentes: “Nunca dejen de soñar. Siempre tengan algo más que ofrecer. Rodéense de personas que les brinden sabiduría y orientación”.
MIRANDO HACIA EL FUTURO
Aunque prefiere enfocarse en el presente y vivir el día a día, Marte De La Rosa tiene un objetivo: lanzar un proyecto junto a su esposo para fomentar la creatividad en los niños. “El arte me dio una voz”, dice. “Me encantaría ayudar a los niños a encontrar la suya”.
Las obras de Marte De La Rosa en Bateyes y Palacios ofrecieron a los visitantes una oportunidad única de experimentar el espíritu dominicano a través de su mirada. Su trabajo invitó al público a adentrarse en su mundo y descubrir la belleza de la vida cotidiana desde una nueva perspectiva.

OR EMMANUEL JOHNSON, art is more than just a visual expression — it’s a conversation, a declaration and a bridge between history and contemporary struggles. With a deep connection to Afro-Caribbean culture, Johnson’s work sheds light on untold stories, mixing satire, humor and striking visuals to challenge narratives and celebrate resilience.
He began his journey at 11 years old in El Salvador, where he attended the National Academy of Fine Arts. His first piece, an abstract painting of a tree and a moon, hinted at his future as a color-driven artist. That passion led him to the prestigious Chavón The School of Design, where he graduated cum laude in 2021 with a degree in fine arts. Since then, he has participated in seven collective exhibitions, including the 30th Dominican Biennial of Visual Arts.
ART AS A REFLECTION OF CULTURE AND TRIUMPHS
Johnson’s artistic practice is deeply rooted in history, culture and social issues affecting Afro-Caribbean communities. “I try to tell the stories that are often left unsaid,” he explains. His works depict both hardship and joy, reflecting a people who, despite oppression, remain resilient. His most recent exhibition, Bateyes y Palacios, featured highly personal pieces inspired by daily life in the Caribbean. “The people around me, their struggles and their triumphs inspire everything I create,” he says.
Experimentation plays a key role in his work. From traditional acrylic and oil paints to handcrafted dyes and stitched textiles, Johnson embraces diverse mediums to build a narrative. “I always try to diversify my materials and use them consciously to tell a story,” he says. His approach is intuitive — he starts with the message, then finds the most visually eloquent way to convey it, often prompting viewers to look more than once to really see what’s there.
FINDING INFLUENCE IN THE PAST AND PRESENT
Johnson’s artistic influences span centuries and continents. Locally, he draws inspiration from Dominican artists José García Cordero and Firelei Báez. From art history, he looks to Caravaggio, Goya and Zurbarán for their dramatic compositions and use of light. Contemporary figures such as David Hammons, Kerry James Marshall and Kouta Sasai also shape his perspective, but his ultimate inspiration is American painter Kehinde Wiley, who painted Barack Obama’s portrait exhibited at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery.
Despite his admiration for these artists, Johnson’s voice remains distinct, fueled by a commitment to storytelling and representation. He recalls a particularly memorable moment during Bateyes y Palacios: a Black visitor expressed joy at seeing people of her race featured prominently in an art gallery. “That moment stuck with me,” he says. “It reaffirmed why I do this.”
EMBRACING CRITICISM AND THE POWER OF DIALOGUE
Johnson welcomes critique, understanding that art — especially work that addresses race and identity — inevitably sparks discussion. “Criticism adds depth to the dialogue,” he says. “Whether

LOOKING AHEAD
As he continues to evolve as an artist, Johnson has ambitious goals. Currently pursuing further studies in art, he aims to secure representation with a major gallery and exhibit internationally. “I want to transcend borders with my work,” he says. “The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be consistent and work hard for what I want,” he says. “Coming from a background where I was literally the worst in my class, with some of the lowest grades, to graduating cum laude at Chavón The School of Design and exhibiting in the most prestigious art competition in the Caribbean, I have learned the value of hard work and perseverance.”
In ten years, he envisions himself as an established artist, clear on his purpose and unwavering in his mission. “I have faith in a better world, one without the issues that plague us today.”
ADVICE FOR EMERGING ARTISTS
For those just starting out, Johnson’s advice is simple: “Don’t be afraid to speak. Say what you want to say; make people feel what you want them to feel. Fear is an artist’s greatest barrier. Once you overcome it, you’ll find your voice.”
With his fearless approach to storytelling and unwavering dedication to his craft, Emmanuel Johnson is not just an artist — he is a voice for the voiceless, a chronicler of history and a visionary for the future of Afro-Caribbean art.

Para aquellos que recién comienzan, el consejo de Johnson es sencillo: “No tengas miedo de hablar. Di lo que quieres decir, haz que la gente sienta lo que quieres que sienta. El miedo es la mayor barrera de un artista. Una vez que lo superes, encontrarás tu voz.”

What does it mean to belong? That question took center stage at Bateyes y Palacios at Altos de Chavón Art Gallery from January 17 to February 17. Featuring works by Dominican artists Emmanuel Johnson and Rebeca Marte De La Rosa, the exhibit explored themes of resilience, identity and everyday life in the Caribbean. Johnson’s 37 mixed-media pieces incorporated fabrics, seashells and even shark teeth, weaving realism with naif influences to honor the region’s African heritage. Marte De La Rosa presented 19 works celebrating Dominican street vendors, with her Las Marchantas series paying homage to the hardworking women who bring life to local markets.

Magical Splendor Gala
The Fundación MIR’s Magical Splendor Gala returned on March 8, bringing elegance and generosity to Casa Grande, the residence of Alfonso Fanjul. More than 400 guests gathered to support educational initiatives in La Romana, celebrating a decade of unwavering support from designer Naeem Khan. The evening featured an exclusive runway show of his spring-summer collection, alongside a gala dinner and the golf tournament awards. Earlier that day, 105 golfers competed at La Romana Country Club. During the awards dinner, Fundación MIR president Lian Fanjul expressed gratitude for the community’s commitment, reinforcing the event’s mission of transforming lives through education.
El Magical Splendor Gala de la Fundación MIR regresó el 8 de marzo a Casa Grande, residencia del Sr. Alfonso Fanjul, reuniendo a más de 400 invitados para apoyar la educación en La Romana. El evento destacó un desfile exclusivo del afamado diseñador Naeem Khan, una cena de gala y la premiación del torneo de golf, en el que participaron 105 golfistas. La presidenta de la Fundación MIR, Lian Fanjul, agradeció el apoyo de la comunidad, reforzando la misión de transformar vidas a través de la educación.

One of the main figures in this storied history is Gianfranco Fini, an 88-year-old Italian architect who played a crucial role in the evolution of Casa de Campo. Originally from Rome, Fini arrived in the Dominican Republic in 1989, driven by a request from his friend Piero Giacosa, who asked him to design a villa on a plot of land he had acquired in Casa de Campo. This undertaking, which began in Brazil, cemented a friendship and planted the seed for an ambitious project: the creation of the most successful marina in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean.
FIRST STEPS IN CASA DE CAMPO
Fini’s first impression of Casa de Campo was one of awe. The palm-thatched roofs, which have a long and rich tradition in the region, going back to the Taíno people, fascinated him. This architectural element, steeped in history, inspired Fini to deepen his connection with the place. “I fell in love at once,” he says.

Uno de los protagonistas de esta historia es Gianfranco Fini, un arquitecto italiano de 88 años que ha sido parte fundamental de la evolución de Casa de Campo. Originario de Roma, Fini llegó a la República Dominicana en 1989, impulsado por un encargo de su amigo Piero Giacosa, quien le pidió que diseñara una villa en un terreno que había adquirido en Casa de Campo. Este encuentro, que se gestó en Brasil, no sólo cimentó una amistad, sino que también sembró la semilla de un ambicioso proyecto: la creación de la marina turística más exitosa de República Dominicana y de la región del Caribe.
PRIMEROS PASOS EN CASA DE CAMPO
La primera impresión de Fini al llegar a Casa de Campo fue de asombro. “Me enamoré al instante”, recuerda. En sus exploraciones, se sintió fascinado por los techos de cana, que tienen una tradición rica y larga en la región, utilizada incluso por los taínos. Este elemento arquitectónico, cargado de historia, lo inspiró a profundizar en su conexión con el lugar.
Desde su llegada, Fini fue un apasionado del mar, y siempre había soñado con construir una marina. La ausencia de una in-

But it wasn’t only what Casa de Campo had that drew him: it was also what was missing at the then-burgeoning resort. Fini was a passionate sailor who had always dreamed of building a marina, and the lack of marine infrastructure in Casa de Campo was unacceptable. “It was inconceivable that there wasn’t a marina here,” he says. Fini looked to his homeland — the luxurious Porto Rotondo, with its yachts and marina life — for inspiration to push forward with the project.
THE BIRTH OF THE MARINA
The first design was created in Rome in February 1994 after Fini studied a sketch for a marina on the Chavón River made by the Central Romana engineering department. Fini’s own design was well received; however, due to constant changes in the riverbed, flooding and difficulties with boat navigation during bad weather, he requested the chance to present a new proposal at a different location.
The second project, presented on December 27, 1994, considered Central Romana’s preference for a smaller marina, given the island’s limited number of boats. Fini adjusted the dimensions, placing the marina directly in the sea, protected by a 300-meter breakwater. After discussion, the proposal was approved with suggestions for further refinement. When Central Romana insisted that there were no boats in the Dominican Republic, Fini said. “There are no boats because there is no marina.” CESAR PÉREZ

LA GESTACIÓN DE LA MARINA
El primer anteproyecto fue elaborado en Roma en febrero de 1994, después de que Fini estudiará un boceto de marina que tenía el departamento de ingeniería del Central Romana en el Río Chavón. Al presentar su diseño, fue bien recibido; sin embargo, debido a las constantes variaciones del cauce, las crecidas e inundaciones, así como las dificultades para la entrada y salida de embarcaciones en caso de mal tiempo, solicitó la oportunidad de presentar una nueva propuesta en un lugar diferente.
El segundo proyecto, presentado el 27 de diciembre de 1994, tuvo en cuenta que el Central Romana no deseaba una marina de grandes dimensiones, dado que en la isla no había suficientes barcos para llenarla. Por lo tanto, Fini ajustó las dimensiones, ubicando la nueva marina directamente en el mar y resguardada por un rompeolas de aproximadamente 300 metros. Esta propuesta fue discutida y finalmente aprobada con algunas sugerencias para continuar definiendo los detalles. A pesar de la insistencia de los ejecutivos del Central Romana de que en República Dominicana no había barcos, Fini les respondía: “No hay barcos porque no hay una marina”.
On February 23, 1995, Fini submitted a third project, but it was rejected, leading him to focus on refining the second version, which ultimately received approval. The construction of the Casa de Campo marina began in 1998.
During the construction, several modifications were made, including a large palapa for events, made of palm and logs, a shopping center with a cinema and more. The marina officially opened in 2002.
While the marina was under construction, apartments, townhouses and villas sold rapidly, but the demand for docks exceeded expectations. To address this, Fini planned an expansion that would not compromise the completed work. He partially dismantled a section of the existing breakwater, creating a waterfront promenade with restaurants, shops and boutiques, extending the project further into the sea to increase the number of docks and accommodate vessels up to 250 feet. Completed in record time, the expansion was inaugurated in 2006, and with it, the marina we know today.
A LIFE IN CASA DE CAMPO
“The Casa de Campo marina was the most important part of my professional career,” Fini says. He recalls organizing regattas and bringing significant events to promote the marina, helping to solidify its reputation in the nautical world.
In 1991, Fini moved his studio to Casa de Campo. The country’s democratic politics, its proximity to important markets and the warmth of the Dominican people made the move easy. His daughter, Nicola Fini, later joined him. Together, they worked on

Ideó un plan ingenioso que consistía en desmantelar parcialmente una sección del rompeolas existente para crear un paseo marítimo con restaurantes, tiendas y boutiques, extendiendo el proyecto más hacia el mar para aumentar el número de muelles, permitiendo incluso esloras de hasta 250 pies. Esta ampliación se realizó en un tiempo récord y fue inaugurada en 2006, convirtiéndose en la marina tal como la conocemos hoy.

Casa de Campo’s history is undoubtedly one of passion, dedication and the conviction that talent and a love of the sea can create something extraordinary. Fini’s work is proof of that.

“Adopting a crib is investing in the future,” said Phyllis Berney, and the Adopt-A-Crib Program continues to honor her vision. On Feb. 22, La Marina Riverside at Casa de Campo hosted the annual appreciation dinner, organized by Xiomara Menéndez and Ramón Menéndez in support of Hogar del Niño. Founded in 1998 by Berney, the program has raised over $24.3 million, with a record $2 million raised in the past year alone, ensuring education, health care and well-being for more than 2,000 children. Hogar del Niño provides inclusive education, medical care and psychological support — thanks to this initiative, thousands of children receive the opportunities they deserve.

Additionally, the marina provides state-ofthe-art maintenance and supply services, ensuring all vessels receive the care they deserve.” Thanks to its efficiency and excellent management, Casa de Campo Marina has received numerous recognitions, including being listed in the Top 10 Billfisheries by the Billfish Report for several consecutive years (2012-2017). In 2020, it was named runner-up for the Best Caribbean Superyacht Marina award at the Superyacht Business Awards by ACrew.
FISHING SEASON
One of the main attractions of Casa de Campo Marina is its sport fishing season. Known for waters teeming with blue marlin, the marina draws hundreds of fishermen each year. In 2024 alone, the port hosted around 30 vessels. The official season, running from Feb. 1 to May 30, remains a highly anticipated period for sport fishing enthusiasts.
During this season, notable events such as the Sailfish Bowl and the Marina Casa de Campo Cup attract international competitors. In addition to blue marlin, Casa de Campo’s waters are home to other species like sailfish, white marlin, swordfish, dorado, tuna and wahoo, making the area a true paradise for sport fishermen.
Gonzalvo says Casa de Campo Marina actively promotes “catch and release,” a practice that ensures the conservation of marine species and protects the area’s ecosystem. Collaboration with international organizations like the Billfish Foundation reinforces these efforts and has earned the marina multiple recognitions for its contributions to sustainability and marine biodiversity.

Casa de Campo Marina has played a key role in boosting nautical tourism in the Dominican Republic while driving economic growth in La Romana. XXVIII Hogar del Niño Weekend

Once again, the Hogar del Niño Weekend brought together Casa de Campo residents and guests for a weekend of sports, philanthropy and celebration. Hosted by El Patronato Benéfico Oriental from February 15 to 16, the event raised funds to support more than 2,000 children through educational, health and social programs. Although the rain forced some rescheduling, the La Romana Country Club saw spirited competition in golf, tennis, padel and pickleball. Off the courts, guests enjoyed yoga, a sip-and-paint event, a children’s camp and a lively pool party. The festivities concluded with a jazz performance, a DJ set and a dazzling drone show over Casa de Campo. “Thanks to our supporters, we continue to create a brighter future for these children,” said PBO president Xiomara Menéndez Dájer.

The iconic Teeth of the Dog, designed by Pete Dye and awarded one of the 100 best golf courses in the world, closed its fairways in January 2025 for upgrades that promise to preserve its classic charm while sharpening its bite. In the meantime, golfers have the opportunity to explore alternative layouts and even discover new favorite holes.
A TRIBUTE TO A GOLF ICON
Since opening in 1971, Teeth of the Dog has been a crown jewel of Caribbean golf, boasting Dye’s signature elements: dramatic oceanfront holes, sculpted greens and expansive sand traps. Dye famously credited nature with crafting seven of the course’s most breathtaking holes, stating, “I created 11 holes, and God created seven.”
Golf architect Jerry Pate, who will oversee the restoration, expressed admiration for Dye’s work. “He was a creative genius who transformed the modern game of golf, and no course represents him better than Teeth of the Dog,” said Pate. “Our job is to preserve Pete’s work and give a bit more ‘bite’ back to Teeth of the Dog.”

CHILD WHO ONCE BUILT SANDCASTLES at Playa Minitas now forges a path to the elite of world pro tennis. Nicolás Moreno de Alborán, born in New York on July 14, 1997, is an American professional tennis pro who has carved his way into the world of tennis with tenacity and dedication, playing in the US Open and reaching a rank of 107th in the world. While he has transcended borders as an athlete, his roots lie in a very special place: Casa de Campo, where he grew up, played and dreamed.
When he was just two months old, Moreno moved with his family to Casa de Campo, a luxury resort that, for him, was always much more than a vacation spot. It was here that he took his first steps into the world of tennis, surrounded by the warmth of a unique environment with top-level courts and a community that quickly became his extended family.
“I lived here for ten years, and my best friends are from here,” he explains. “I always carry Casa de Campo in my heart.”
MEMORIES OF CASA
Moreno recalls how, as a child, he entertained himself playing tennis with the ball boys from La Romana Country Club and the Racquet Center, but also with other sports, like baseball, basketball and kickball. It was during these moments, between the games and the laughter, that the tennis racket began to feel more and more like an extension of himself.

Today, when he talks about Casa de Campo, Moreno not only mentions his childhood memories but also acknowledges the deep emotional connection he still has with the place. “My childhood is filled with memories from Casa de Campo,” he says. “From my days at Abraham Lincoln School, spending hours at the beach, to sailing with my brothers.” Returning to this corner of the Caribbean, surrounded by nature, is, for him, a source of emotional and physical recharging. After months of intense travel and competition, this place offers him the perfect space to disconnect and reconnect with his roots.
“Being connected to nature, being able to go to the sea after training, is priceless,” he says of the benefits of being in an environment that balances sports and nature. Casa de Campo’s facilities, like its famous tennis complex, have been essential to his training. There, he alternates between clay courts and hard surfaces, adapting to the demands of upcoming tournaments.
“Casa de Campo offers me a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth of tennis and sports in general while also resting and disconnecting from the routine,” Moreno adds. “Here, I can train at my own pace and in the way I want. I’ll continue coming back and preparing for the best tournaments in the world while contributing in any way I can.”

As a young man, Moreno’s passion for tennis grew stronger. But there were also moments that marked his path to professionalism, such as that crucial match at the 2023 US Open. Playing in front of his local crowd in New York, with his family present as he achieved important victories, was something special for him. However, his connection to Casa de Campo has always been

He uses meditation and visualization techniques to stay calm during difficult moments. “Visualization helps me focus on specific aspects and stay calm amid distractions,” he says. His routines before and after each match, including stretching and massages, are key to his preparation.

Despite the achievements he has accumulated so far, such as his first Challenger title in 2022 and his debut at the 2023 US Open, Moreno is still focused on the future. His goal is to break into the top 100 worldwide, a dream that is getting closer every day. “Each year in tennis is a different story,” he says as he reflects on his career. His time in places like Casa de Campo, where he took his first steps, remains a fundamental part of his growth process.

From March 5-9, the event marked its 20th anniversary with a new points-based format, intense competition and a tribute to its lasting impact. Founded by Rick McDaniel, the tournament has provided scholarships, vocational courses and medical assistance to dozens of athletes. This year’s goal was to raise $70,000 to continue these efforts. With the Patronato Benéfico Oriental stepping in to support its core programs, the tournament ensured that its legacy of opportunity would remain strong both on and off the court.

Michael Martocci, widely regarded as one of the best Sinatra tribute artists, performed with a 22-piece orchestra of Dominican musicians, delivering a nostalgic mix of jazz, swing and bigband classics. Special guest Antonio González and his Dominican Bossa project joined the performance. The weekend also featured rare Sinatra memorabilia, such as Ol’ Blue Eyes’ velvet shoes and letters. The items were showcased in La Marina the night before, making it a fitting tribute to the icon who first opened the amphitheater more than 40 years ago.

A ROMANA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LRM), known for its proximity to some of the region’s most exclusive destinations, such as Casa de Campo, is undergoing an expansion that promises to transform the area’s tourism landscape.
The airport has increased the frequency of flights by a number of airlines: Condor Airlines from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf, Germany; Discover Airlines from Frankfurt, Germany; Neos Air from Milan and Rome; TUI Airways from the U.K., including London-Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, and Sunwing Airlines from Toronto and Montreal.
What’s more, KLM has added the following routes: American Airlines, with daily flights to Miami; SkyUp, with flights from Warsaw and Katowice, Poland; and HiSky Europe, with flights from Bucharest, Romania.
KLM also confirmed the following routes for Summer 2025: World2Fly will operate weekly flights from Madrid and Lisbon, Portugal; Iberojet will operate weekly flights from Madrid and Lisbon, Portugal; and Swift Air will operate a weekly flight from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

At LRM, we have tackled this increase from two perspectives: physical structure, significantly expanding the departure terminal area as the first step toward a future expansion of the operational area, and service structure, expanding the number of customer service agents and assistants, in addition to strengthening our training programs to adapt to the profile of new visitors and, thus, provide the best experience for all passengers traveling through LRM. Our customer service agents are trained with two very clear messages: “There is no second chance for a first impression” and “We are the first and last impression of our country for our visitors — never forget that!”
HOW DO YOU THINK THE INCREASE IN FLIGHTS TO AND FROM LA ROMANA WILL AFFECT TOURISM IN THE REGION?
The increase in flights to and from La Romana will have a very positive impact on tourism and, by extension, on the economy of our region. We must take into account the strategic location of La Romana Airport,

Casa de Campo residents and guests got an up-close look at Porsche’s most iconic models as the Porsche World Roadshow took over Altos de Chavón. From February 5 to 16, the parking lot of Genesis nightclub became a showcase for Porsche’s most iconic models, including the 911 GT3 RS, the Boxster Spyder RS and the all-electric Taycan Turbo S. Looking for a more laid-back dining option? La Piazzetta in Altos de Chavón now offers lunch from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., serving a lighter, more casual take on its renowned Italian American cuisine. This new offering invites guests to enjoy fresh options like roasted red pepper hummus, homemade pasta and sandwiches such as chicken Milanese or steak — all without the need for a reservation. According to manager Manuel Jiménez, the goal is to provide a relaxed, flexible dining experience with the same high-quality flavors in the beautiful setting of Altos de Chavón.

On August 12, we will celebrate Mission International Rescue and its efforts to provide education, healthcare and housing for underprivileged youth in La Romana. A taste of Saint-Tropez arrived in Casa de Campo with the debut of Villa Minuty, a year-long pop-up lounge celebrating the elegance of the French Riviera. The newly opened lounge pairs Mediterranean cuisine with Minuty Prestige Rosé and Minuty Prestige Blanc in an elegant setting. During the opening, guests enjoyed a curated experience with a special menu and music by DJ Stephanie Gerardino, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the Mediterranean coast. For the next year, Villa Minuty will host curated events, tastings and exclusive dining experiences.
