The Job is the Boss Tour 2020 has come to an end. We launched the tour to recognize the resiliency of Clayco’s integral construction workforce who quickly adapted to working amid new health and safety guidelines during this tumultuous time. We started on the east coast and traveled from Pennsylvania to the Midwest before heading to the west coast, traveling from San Diego to Seattle and back to Chicago. During this four-week period, we met directly with our diverse team of men and women across America, exchanging elbow bumps, face-to-face gratitude and thumbs up.

University Park, PA

PSU EAST HALLS We started the tour at Penn State University’s East Halls Development, one of the largest residence hall construction projects ever undertaken by the university. While on campus, we made sure to visit the Nittany Lion!

by Penn State’s West Campus Parking Garage project where Lamar Johnson Collaborative and Clayco are design-building a new 1,600-space parking structure and site/civil improvements.

PROJECT SOPHIA Our tour continued in Delaware at our Project Sophia jobsite. When complete, this project will be a 3,700,000-squarefoot distribution facility that includes 4 elevated concrete floors.

ROCKWOOL We wrapped up our first day on the tour in West Virginia at our Rockwool project site. Rockwool is the world’s leading manufacturer of stone wool insulation. This 460,000-square-foot manufacturing facility sits on 130 acres and includes multiple buildings with varying conditions and infrastructure to support the manufacturing process and equipment.

HAGERSTOWN LOGISTICS We started the day bright and early touring our Hagerstown Logistics project in Maryland. This speculative building will be our third facility in Hagerstown for NorthPoint Development.

CENTENE EAST COAST HQ We spent the afternoon visiting the start of Centene’s new East Coast Headquarters. This new 80-acre campus will accommodate approximately 6,000 employees and will feature office space, an early childhood development center, a training center, as well as walking trails and water features.

BLUE ORIGIN/MSFC ENGINE TEST FACILITY We started our day in Alabama at the Blue Origin Engine Facility which was wrapping up construction. This facility houses the tooling, equipment and operations required to manufacture Blue Origin’s next generation rocket engines.

VOLKSWAGEN BATTERY PLANT We then made our way to Tennessee and toured the 198,000-squarefoot battery assembly facility and Volkswagen’s North American hub for electric vehicle batteries.

THUR 10•08•20 VOLKSWAGEN BODY SHOP While in Chattanooga, we went by the 564,000-square-foot body shop expansion for Volkswagen. Production will begin by 2022 and will create around 1,000 new jobs.

PROJECT TITAN The next stop in Tennessee was in Goodlettsville to tour Project Titan. The scope of this project includes 40,000+ square feet of freezer expansion.

PROJECT SAM Our final stop for the day was a visit with Concrete Strategies at their Project Sam jobsite in Mount Juliet, Tennessee.

TUES 10•13•20 PROJECT BELMONT The next day of the tour began in Indiana with a tour of Project Belmont, which is a 450,000-square-foot addition to an existing 1 million-square-foot facility that Clayco completed back in 2011.

PROJECT COUGAR AMZL A few hours later, the tour continued in Pontiac, Michigan at the 202,316-square-foot Project Cougar AMZL facility jobsite.

PROJECT COUGAR AR G+4.5 From there, we traveled to the 800,000+ square-foot jobsite right next door. This project is being constructed simultaneously with Project Cougar AMZL .

ETNA PARK 70 EAST From Michigan, we traveled to Pataskala, Ohio for another tour of side-by-side projects. Our Etna Park 70 East jobsite is providing earthwork development for the neighboring Schuster Way East.

SCHUSTER WAY EAST Our tour then continued to the adjacent Schuster Way East project that involves the construction of a new roadway, widening of an existing highway and utility service for a new industrial park.

NICKLIES The tour started the day in Louisville, Kentucky at the 930,000-squarefoot Nicklies project. The jobsite was showing its Clayco pride with a huge banner!

HORIZON XI-DLI3 The next stop on our tour brought us to Missouri, home to half a dozen of our current projects. The first stop was to Horizon XI in Riverside. Horizon XI is still early in its construction, but will eventually be a 112,000-squarefoot warehouse and office.

PROJECT SMILE Our final stop for the day was in St. Peters, Missouri, where we toured the jobsite for Project Smile. This project is a new logistics warehouse that is being developed by CRG.

EDGE@WEST To start our day in St. Louis, we visited the EDGE@WEST. This project utilizes the full design-build and self-perform concrete resources of Lamar Johnson Collaborative, Clayco, and Concrete Strategies. When completed, the building will feature shared workspaces, plus additional open common elements and amenities to improve the quality of the work environment.

CENTENE URBAN CAMPUS From there we traveled to Centene Centre. This project is an expansion to Centene’s existing campus. The addition to the campus is designed to meet Centene’s growth projections, while also creating a vibrant, mixeduse development that fits into the city of Clayton’s downtown master plan.

100 ABOVE THE PARK Next on our tour list was the iconic new 100 Above the Park project. Unique in its design, this residential tower project seeks to connect people to views of Forest Park and the Gateway Arch.

DELMAR DIVINE Last but not least was a tour of our Delmar Divine project. Delmar Divine is being developed, designed and built by CRG, Lamar Johnson Collaborative, and Clayco, and will co-locate nonprofit organizations and innovative programs, all while providing affordable housing for young professionals and leaders in the social sector.

PROJECT BRONCO Our tour then headed out west to Idaho to explore Project Bronco, a gigantic 2.6+ million-square-foot distribution center located on a 64 acre site.

MWH06 We started our tour down the West Coast at our jobsite in Quincy, Washington. The project is a 195,000-square-foot facility adjacent to our client’s existing campus.

HAWKS PRAIRIE We ended the day in Washington at our NorthPoint Hawks Prairie project in Lacey. The facility is a massive 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center that will serve our client’s shipping in the Northwest.

SACRAMENTO BTS 600 We then began the tours of our jobsites located around Sacramento, California. The first stop was Project Sacramento BTS 600, a 600,000-square-foot warehouse.

CCLC BUILDING 1 From Sacramento, we moved on to Oakley, California where we started our day with a tour of two neighboring jobsites. CCLC Building 1 is a 143,503-square-foot distribution center.

PROJECT CONDOR A short 30 minute drive to the next stop in our tour, we visited with the team at Project Condor. This project is a 1 million-square-foot distribution warehouse located on an 83 acre site.

PROJECT INTERSTATE II We began the next day of our tour with Project Interstate II. This 700,000-squarefoot project is nearing completion with a target finish date right after the new year.

SCAD VICTORY RESIDENCE HALLS Our next stop in Georgia was to the recently completed Sail at Victory Village. This was Clayco’s fourth project with SCAD and it utilized the full design-build resources of Clayco and Lamar Johnson Collaborative.

WED 10•28•20 SK BATTERY AMERICA PHASE II Our only tour stop for the day was in Commerce, Georgia to visit the team working on SK Battery’s Phase 2. Our team had recently turned over Phase 1 and were excited to begin the next step of the project.

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS DESIGN CENTER Today’s tour stop brought us to University of Illinois’ campus to tour the nearly finished Siebel Center for Design project and then a peak at our previously completed Henry Dale and Betty Smith Football Center project.

FRI 10•30•20 FULTON EAST This day of the tour brought us to Chicago which is home to our headquarters and several of our active jobsites. The first stop was at our Fulton East project. Fulton East was at a pivotal point in construction when COVID-19 hit, giving our team the opportunity to meet the crisis head-on by installing health and wellness features.

MACY’S CHICAGO RENOVATION After Fulton East, we went to tour the renovation project of Macy’s flagship store. The 650,000-square-foot retrofit and renovation project is focused on preserving the iconic historical features, while bringing the office space up to Class A condition.

WILLIS TOWER Our next stop was at another transformative project of ours in Chicago, Willis Tower.

Approximately 460,000 square feet of existing space within the Tower was reconfigured, including more than 300,000 square feet of new retail, dining and entertainment space, called Catalog.

COMMERCE PARK BUILDING A Commerce Park is located on the old 2.3 million-square-foot Republic Steel Mill site and the development of projects in this area is expected to revitalize the local community. Commerce Park Building A is a speculative building that will be 299,057 square feet once completed.

O’HARE ORD 21 Our final stop of the tour was to our joint-venture project at O’Hare’s Global Terminal and Global Concourse. This massive project encompasses 2.2 million square feet of work on both the new concourse and the surrounding infrastructure.
