About the Event Cinemasports Universities challenges student teams around the world to make a short movie using the same required “ingredients”. Final movies must be less than 3 minutes and include required 3 ingredients announced at the start of the shooting day. Submitted movies will be considered for a gala screening at Kun Shan University in Tainan, Taiwan. Three Ingredents: Coin Box Crawl The 5th Cinemasports Universities, we have more than 100 films around the world submitted to the event. It was wonderful to have a chance to see so many student artists from various countries express themselves through the medium of short film. 國際大學拍片運動挑戰來自世界各地的大學生 的即興創作，製作一部短片包含同樣的“三項 元素”。 最後的影片必須短於三分鐘，並且包含拍片當 日所宣布的三項元素。完成挑戰的作品部份將 入選於台灣崑山科技大學的播映晚會中播出。 三項元素為： 銅板 盒子 爬行 第五屆國際拍片運動，共有超過一百多部的影 片完成挑戰送件。這是一個非常難得的機會， 看到來自於不同國家的學生，透過短片表達自 己的想法。 所有送件的影片可於官方網站觀賞： http://cinemasports.com/event-group/2017-cinemasports-international

The 5thCinemasports Universities

Cinemasports movies are not perfect. Rushing to meet a deadline, artists make compromises and accept imperfections. But like an unflattering photo on social media, these movies can be more honest and attractive. Through Cinemasports movies, we witness genuine creative moments before the filter of perfectionism. When we see an ingenious use of a “coin”, “box”, or “crawl”, we cheer because we understand the process. We know the creativity was spontaneous. Cinemasports movies also teach us peculiarities about other cultures. Did you know that Laos money has no coins? Did you know that a “Leek Box” is a Taiwanese street food so delicious that someone would request it as their dying wish? I learned these things through Cinemasports, and knowing these facts makes watching the movies more fun. Teams submitted over 100 movies for this year’s Cinemasports event. We screened 36 of these entries at Kun Shan University to an energetic audience that laughed and applauded this year’s submissions. Congratulations to everyone who made a movie. Let’s remember the flashes of creative inspiration we had during that day and keep having them into the future.

國際拍片運動是我認為最酷的非典型影展， 它鼓勵任何喜歡電影藝術的人參與拍攝影片，並 透過各國舉辦的播映會交流分享。從第一屆活動 以來，我的角色曾是參與者、指導老師、評審、 也當過台灣區主辦人，這個活動對我而言意義重 大，也因此認識許多來自全世界電影愛好者與影 展主席，讓我從另一個角度看待電影藝術的本質: 影片是雅俗共賞大家可以創作，而非僅是專業人 士才可完成。這次很榮幸再度擔任評審，這個活 動參與的影像作品無論是件數或者國家越來越 多，在評審的過程雖然很累，但有機會可以看到 這麼多充滿創意的作品真是令我驚豔。

This is the coolest and interesting film making activity I have ever seen. It encourages everyone who likes movie art to participate in this Cinemasports event and to share the movies through the national broadcast. I have been participating Cinemasports since the first year event; being a participant, mentor, judge as well as the organizer of Taiwan. Cinemasports means a lot to me and I have met so many great people who love movie as well as the film festival organizers. It also allows me to look at the movie creation from another angle. Movie is for everyone. It

很榮幸能獲邀擔任第五屆國際大學拍片運動台 灣區評審工作，在十多年前電影對於多數人而言 是一種單向式的感官體驗，體驗的地點從放映廳 到戶外，隨著科技的演進拉到了家中的客廳，又 經歷了網路與數位技術的發展，提供人們在數位 環境下觀影的可能; 電影與人們的距離越來越近， 但始終與多數的閱聽眾保持著一種單向的互動關 係，直到智慧行動裝置的興起，現代人隨身不離 的數位行動裝置，都具備越來越好的攝影與錄影 功能，讓多數的男女老幼，開始學會舉起隨身鏡 頭，記錄下眼前的光景，改變了自19世紀以來， 人們與電影之間的單向關係，讓人人都有機會成 為內容的提供者，讓電影有成為一種全民運動的 自然條件，期待在這樣的時代環境下，國際大學 拍片運動能如同種子一般，將電影創作的活力散 播進每個世代，感染到每個角落。

It’s a great honor to participate Cinema Sports Universities 2017 as one of the juries. Since the first film had been made at the end of 19th century. People enjoy watching films but only a few have knowledge and rare cinema equipment and resources to produce. The situation has been changed since mobile device technology was invented and kept changing our life.

很高興能參與這次2017國際拍片運動的評審 工作，這是一個非常有趣且具有多重意涵的競賽 活動。在規定的故事元素與限制拍片時間的條件 下，卻更加大大的激發了學生的創意想像力，故 事腳本、攝影錄音、音效配樂、後製剪接....等等 專業能力的磨練，以及團隊合作達成能力的考 驗。且短短的一天內，不只學生們的拍片實戰力 因此提升，觀看其他國家參賽者作品更是一種難 得的國際文化交流與經驗分享學習。 過往如要完成一部電影，光是龐大的人力物力 財力....就很容易讓人卻步，感謝科技造就現今的 多媒體數位影音時代，讓製作影片的器材設備取 得門檻大為降低，讓非專業的學生們在拍片時的 創意想像力可以自由揮灑，也感謝主辦單位崑山 科大及所有協辦參與的國內外師生的熱情付出。

It is great honor to participate in the 5th Cinemasports International 2017. I would like to thank and give huge respect to all of staff who worked for the festival, especially the main organizer Associate Professor Hui-ching Tseng. This year, we had three new ingredients Coin, Box, and Crawl, and many of new fresh films made with brilliant ideas by young filmmakers from around the world. Cinemasports International is not only for the results of filmmaking but for also for enjoying the moment of making films and watching them together. It is the only festival for really enjoying making films and I wish this liberal spirit of Cinemasports will continue to move forward.

今年國際大學拍片運動改名為國際拍片運動，為 了讓更多的人可以參與這項活動，第五屆總共有100 多個團隊，來自超過10個國家完成今年挑戰，越來越 多人支持這個活動。這個活動是非典型的比賽，為了 獲獎而競爭，過程中彼此激發出來創意的過程是好的 獎勵，重要的是透過短片創作分享不同的文化觀點。 在極少經費的情況下，要讓這樣的活動能夠發生，需 要很多專業人士志願的協助，還有參與者很大的認同 感，非常感謝這個過程中協助的所有朋友，再次我們 共同完成了一件有趣且了不起的事。 This year the Cinemasports Universities has changed the name to Cinemasports International in order to let more people participate in the event. During this 5th year we had more than 100 teams from more than 10 countries complete the challenge. Over the years, more and more people have been supporting this event. This is not a typical competition. The creativity that inspired the process is the best reward. The main goal is to share culture with other people through the making of a short film. we have many people suppport us from professional fields as well as a lot support from all of the participants. The Kick-Off Meeting 拍片開跑日 The kick-off meeting for Taiwan teams took place on the morning of Oct. 22, 2017 in Tainan and Loas. It is a fun activity for participants to get together, cheer, and motivate each other right at the beginning of the filming days just after it the 10 hours film challenge starts. 台灣拍片日宣誓活動在201年10月22日早上在台南、寮 國，皆有開跑宣誓活動，臨近的參賽者齊聚一堂，互 相加油打氣，緊接下來開始十小時的拍片衝刺。

The Opening 開幕 The screening was held in Kun Shan University on Oct. 25, 2017. The activities began with some cool live guitar performances of a few well-know movie sound tracks. Then the presenters and the audience took selfies together. The Gala Screening 播映會 The gala screening took place in Kun Shan University, Tainan City, Taiwan. During the one and half hour screening more than 30 films from around the world were screened in the evening. 播映會於崑山科大舉行，在約一個半小時的播映會 中，總共播映了超過30多部來自世界各地的影片。

It was made from start to finish in 12 hours for the 2017 Cinema Sports International Universities competition. It was directed by 2 students, Miss Chua E Vue (16) and Mr Nar Mouas (17).
