You
are the salt of the earth.
Today,Jesus tells us in the Gospel that we are light for the world, called to enlighten a world that lives in darkness. We are portrayers of the light that erases deceit and falsehood, helping us to discover what is truly important. The Lord calls us not to be a hidden light, but a shining light for the benefit of our brothers and sisters. In the same way that the moon does not lose its beauty because it does not have its own light, and only reflects the sun's; we are challenged to enlighten our world with Christ's light without losing any of our beauty
Today's Gospel invites us also to become the salt of the earth. Salt is a preservative, and its purpose is to keep something in its original state; but salt is also used to add taste. The Lord invites us today not to become untasteful. He invites us to become real agents of change. In the same way that it is almost impossible for salt to lose its flavor, the Christian disciple is today called to never quit their values, and to continue flavoring the world through living the Gospel values.
Let us make it our purpose to never hide our Christian principles and values.Our faith is not a private matter; it is an important part of our own identity Let us never deny it in our public sphere. The real challenge is represented by living our Christian faith. The Lord is inviting us to deposit our life, and our trust, in Him. He is inviting us to believe that despite all our human limitations,He will always be by our side,transforming our limited and imperfect actions into something greater than we can imagine. Let us offer the Lord with the best of ourselves. Let us ask Him to transform us, to make us a light to enlighten all darkness, and to be the salt of the world. As the Psalmist proclaimed: “Let us enlighten the world,and our darkness will become as the noon light.”

Ustedes son la sal de la tierra.
Jesús dice hoy en el evangelio que nosotros somos la luz del mundo, llamados a traer su luz a un mundo que vive en tinieblas. Somos portadores de la luz que disipa la falsedad y el engaño, y ayuda a descubrir lo que es realmente bueno. El Señor no nos quiere como luz encendida para esconderse en las esquinas; somos llamados a ser lo que Él es, para beneficio de los demás. De la misma forma en que la Luna no deja de ser hermosa, aunque sólo refleje la luz del sol y no posea luz propia, así nosotros debemos reflejar al mundo la luz de Cristo, y no por eso dejaremos de ser valiosos.
El evangelio nos invita también a convertirnos en la sal de la tierra. La sal es un conservador, y su propósito es guardar algo en su estado original, pero también sirve para dar sabor. El Señor nos invita a no volvernos insípidos, lo que, es más, nos reta a ser verdaderos agentes de cambio Es casi imposible que la sal se vuelva insípida. De la misma forma, los discípulos son llamados a no dejar de ser lo que son, sino a continuar sazonando el mundo con la buena nueva. El Señor nos invita hoy a depositar nuestra vida y nuestra confianza en Él, y a creer que, a pesar de nuestras limitaciones, El hará mucho más de lo que jamás podamos imaginar. Pidámosle que nos convierta en luz que ilumine las tinieblas, y en sal que sazone la tierra. Como dice San el Salmista: “Iluminemos al mundo, y nuestra obscuridad será como el mediodía.”

Các con là muối đất
Trong Phúc Âm hôm nay, Chúa Giêsu nói rằng chúng ta là ánh sáng cho thế gian, được kêu gọi đem ánh sáng của Ngài đến cho thế giới đang sống trong bóng tối. Chúng ta là những người mang ánh sáng xua tan đi sự lừa lọc và gian dối, đồng thời giúp chúng ta khám phá ra những gì thực sự tốt đẹp. Thiên Chúa không muốn chúng ta là ngọn đèn dấu kín trong một góc, nhưng là ánh sáng chiếu rọi vì lợi ích của anh chị em mình. Cũng như mặt trăng không mất đi vẻ đẹp của nó bởi vì nó không có ánh sáng của riêng mình, mà chỉ phản chiếu từ mặt trời; chúng ta được kêu gọi để phản chiếu ánh sáng của Chúa Kitô cho thế giới mà không mất đi vẻ đẹp của chúng ta.
Phúc Âm hôm nay cũng mời gọi chúng ta trở nên muối cho đời. Muối là một chất bảo quản, và mục đích của nó là giữ một thứ gì đó ở trạng thái nguyên thủy; nhưng muối cũng được dùng để thêm hương vị. Thiên Chúa mời gọi chúng ta đừng trở nên vô vị. Hơn thế nữa, Ngài mời gọi chúng ta trở thành một nhân vật thực sự tác động của sự thay đổi. Cũng như muối không thể mất đi mùi vị của nó, người môn đệ Kitô hữu được mời gọi đừng làm mất đi giá trị của mình, và tiếp tục làm gia vị cho thế giới qua việc sống Phúc Âm.
Chúng ta đừng bao giờ che dấu giá trị của người Kitô hữu. Đức tin của chúng ta không phải là một vấn đề riêng tư; nó là một phần quan trọng trong bản sắc của chúng ta. BISHOP CANTÚ ON THE JOURNEY OF SPIRITUAL RENEWAL
Spiritual Springtime in San José
Individually and communally, as the Body of Christ, we are called to spiritual renewal so that our Faith maintains its vibrancy and vitality and does not wither but grows and goes out in love and service to others.
The pastoral plan is a blueprint to situate our diocese for spiritual renewal to bear fruit in the coming years and decades. Spiritual renewal of a church firmly rooted in Christ provides opportunities even for those already active in their faith to grow ever more deeply in faith, to draw closer to Christ in graced friendship, and to produce spiritual and pastoral fruit. (Clergy are required by church law – a very healthy practice, I might add – to make an annual spiritual retreat so that we, too, might be spiritually renewed and refreshed in our relationship with God and the Church.)
The scriptures echo with reminders of the necessity of spiritual renewal. In one example, through Ezekiel's prophetic voice, God makes a promise of renewal: “I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh” (Ez 36:26).
I have witnessed the burgeoning fruits of hope,joy,and generosity,among others,that our diocesan synod and pastoral planning have sown. Let us unite in praying fervently and inviting the Holy Spirit to breathe the winds of spiritual renewal through our diocese and guide the implementation of our pastoral plan for the spiritual growth of our parishioners and diocesan family.
May each of us continue to grow in faith,hope,and love!

Primavera espiritual en San José
Individual y comunitariamente, como Cuerpo de Cristo, estamos llamados a la renovación espiritual para que nuestra Fe mantenga su vitalidad y no se marchite,sino que crezca y salga en amor y servicio a los demás.
El plan pastoral es un plan para situar nuestra diócesis para que la renovación espiritual dé frutos en los próximos años y décadas. La renovación espiritual de una iglesia firmemente arraigada en Cristo ofrece oportunidades, incluso para aquellos que ya están activos en su fe, para crecer cada vez más profundamente en la fe, para acercarse a Cristo en la amistad de la gracia y para producir frutos espirituales y pastorales. (Los clérigos están obligados por la ley de la iglesia – una práctica muy saludable, debo agregar – a hacer un retiro espiritual anual para que nosotros también podamos ser renovados espiritualmente y refrescados en nuestra relación con Dios y la Iglesia).
Las Escrituras resuenan con recordatorios de la necesidad de la renovación espiritual. En un ejemplo, a través de la voz profética de Ezequiel,Dios hace una promesa de renovación: “Además,les daré un corazón nuevo y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ustedes; quitaré de su carne el corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón de carne. “ (Ez 36,26).
He sido testigo de los florecientes frutos de esperanza, alegría y generosidad, entre unos y otros, que nuestro sínodo diocesano y la planificación pastoral han sembrado Unámonos para orar fervientemente e invitar al Espíritu Santo a soplar los vientos de renovación espiritual a través de nuestra diócesis y guiar la implementación de nuestro plan pastoral para el crecimiento espiritual de nuestros feligreses y familia diocesana.

Mùa Xuân Thiêng Liêng ở Giáo Phận San José
Về phương diện cá nhân cũng như cộng đồng, chúng ta là Thân thể của Chúa Ki-tô, và chúng ta được kêu gọi canh tân đời sống thiêng liêng để đức tin của chúng ta được sống động và không bị héo úa, nhưng ngày càng phát triển và tăng trưởng để mang tình yêu đến cho mọi người và phục vụ mọi người.
Kế hoạch Mục Vụ là bản thiết kế cho Giáo phận trong việc canh tân đời sống thiêng liêng để mang lại những kết quả trong nhiều năm và nhiều thập niên tương lai. Việc canh tân đời sống thiêng liêng, trên căn bản là Chúa Kitô, mang đến những cơ hội ngay cả cho những người đã có đời sống đức tin sống động được sống sâu xa hơn, gần gũi với Chúa Kitô hơn trong tình bạn và ân sủng, và mang lại những hoa trái mục vụ thiêng liêng. (Các linh mục và giáo sĩ, theo luật Giáo Hội, phải tĩnh tâm hằng năm – tôi xin nói thêm: đó là một điều rất tốt – để chúng ta có thể được canh tân trong đời sống thiêng liêng và canh
tân với Chúa và với Giáo Hội.)
Lời Thánh Kinh vang vọng nhắc nhở chúng ta về việc canh tân đời sống thiêng liêng. Qua lời tiên tri Ezekiel, Thiên Chúa đã hứa về việc canh tân: “Ta sẽ ban cho các ngươi một trái tim mới, và một lòng trí mới Ta sẽ đặt nơi các ngươi. Ta sẽ lấy khỏi lòng các người trái tim chai đá, và ban cho các ngươi một trái tim bằng thịt.“ (Ez.36: 26)
Tôi đã nhìn thấy những hoa trái nở rộ với niềm hy vọng,hân hoan,lòng quảng đại,và nhiều dấu chỉ khác nữa,mà Công nghị Giáo phận của chúng ta cũng như kế hoạch Mục Vụ đã mang lại.Chúng ta hãy cùng nhau sốt sắng cầu nguyện và cầu xin Chúa Thánh Linh thổi ngọn gió canh tân xuống trên Giáo phận chúng ta và hướng dẫn chúng ta trong việc thi hành Kế hoạch Mục Vụ nhằm phát triển đời sống Đức tin
của giáo dân chúng ta và của cả gia đình Giáo phận chúng ta.
Xin cho mỗi người chúng ta luôn được gia tăng đức tin,gia tăng lòng hy vọng,và lòng mến!
