Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Today, the Baptist unveils Jesus' identity when he said: “This is the Lamb of God.” Lambs unblemished, and without deformations, had been sacrificed as an offering to God by the Jewish people on the night before they came out from the Egyptian slavery.Their blood,used to stain the door dentil,was a sign for the Lord's angel to avoid their homes while all the Egyptians first born were killed.
Through history, a lamb had been a symbol for many of the greatest people participating in God's plan of salvation. The prophet Samuel, King David, King Salomon, had a lamb as their dynasty symbol. And suddenly, John the Baptist is inviting the Jewish people to follow a new lamb, but in addition to signal Him as the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit, John calls Him the “Son of God.” Since then, the image of the Lamb became one of the most widely used symbols of Christianity. During our Mass celebration, we reference it at least five times. An insurmountable amount of artwork: murals, paints, stained windows, or priestly vestments, are silent witnesses of this enigmatic figure referenced 29 times in the book of revelation.
Let us now open our souls to receive in our hearts “The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” let us ask Him for the wisdom to understand what He wants from each one of us; strength to endlessly work for the benefit of our brothers and sisters, and courage to recognize His presence in our daily routines.

Este es el Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo.
El día de hoy escuchamos como Juan el Bautista, el precursor que hoy nos instruye y dice: “Este es el Cordero de Dios.” Los corderos sin mancha, y sin deformaciones, habían sido sacrificados como ofrenda a Dios por el pueblo judío durante la noche previa a la huida de Egipto Su sangre misma sirvió para marcar los dinteles de las puertas en donde el ángel del Señor no entraría la noche en que sacrificó a los primogénitos egipcios.
Un cordero había sido el símbolo de grandes personajes en la historia de la salvación. El profeta Samuel, el Rey David, el Rey Salomón, habían tenido al cordero como el símbolo de su dinastía. De repente, Juan el Bautista invita al pueblo judío a seguir este nuevo Cordero, solo que además de señalarlo como el que bautizara con el Espíritu Santo, Juan lo identifica como el Hijo de Dios. A partir de entonces, el símbolo del cordero se convierte en una de las figuras mas utilizadas en el cristianismo. Durante la celebración de la Santa Misa es referenciado hasta en cinco ocasiones. Una enorme cantidad de arte: murales, pinturas, vitrales, vestimentas, son testigos mudos de esta enigmática figura referenciada constantemente en el libro del Apocalipsis.
Abramos hoy nuestros corazones para recibir al “Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo,” pidamos sabiduría para entender lo que el Señor quiere de cada uno de nosotros, fortaleza para llevar adelante lo que nos manda a hacer para beneficio de los demás, y empeño para llevar a la práctica su presencia de amor entre nosotros.

Đây, Chiên Thiên Chúa Đấng xóa tội trần gian.
Hôm nay, thánh Gioan Tẩy Giả tiết lộ danh tính của Chúa Giêsu khi nói: "Đây Chiên Thiên Chúa".
Con chiên không tì vết, con chiên toàn vẹn, đã bị người Do Thái hiến tế để dâng lên Thiên Chúa vào đêm trước khi họ vượt thoát khỏi chế độ nô lệ Ai Cập. Máu của Chiên, được sử dụng để bôi lên ngưỡng cửa, là dấu hiệu cho thiên thần Chúa vượt qua nhà của người Do Thái, trong khi tất cả trưởng nam của người Ai Cập đã bị giết.
Con chiên đã là biểu tượng cho những nhân vật vĩ
đại trong lịch sử cứu rỗi. Tiên tri Samuel, Vua David, Vua Salomon, đều đã dùng con chiên làm biểu tượng cho triều đại của họ. Bất ngờ thay, thánh Gioan Tẩy Giả mời gọi người Do Thái đi theo một con chiên đi theo Chiên mới này, không chỉ xác định Ngài là Đấng sẽ rửa tội bằng Chúa Thánh Thần, thánh Gioan gọi Ngài là "Con Thiên Chúa". Kể từ đó, hình ảnh Con Chiên trở thành một trong những biểu tượng được sử dụng thường xuyên nhất của Ki-tô giáo Trong các thánh lễ cử hành hằng ngày, có nhắc đến Con Chiên Thiên Chúa ít nhất là năm lần. Và vô số kể tác phẩm nghệ thuật như: tranh sơn tường, sơn cửa sổ, kiếng màu, hoặc lễ phục linh mục, là những nhân chứng thầm lặng của nhân vật bí ẩn này Đặc biệt trong sách khải huyền có nhắc đến
Con Chiên 29 lần.
Ước chi từ nay chúng ta hãy mở rộng tâm hồn để
đón nhận "Con Chiên Thiên Chúa đấng xóa tội
Trần gian", hãy xin Ngài ban cho sự khôn ngoan
để hiểu những gì Ngài muốn từ mỗi người chúng ta; sức mạnh để làm việc không ngừng vì lợi ích
của anh chị em chung quanh và can đảm nhận ra
sự hiện diện của Ngài trong cuộc sống hàng ngày của chúng ta.
