Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?

In this our 3 Sunday of advent the Baptist appears again, but now with a different rhetoric. John continues preaching the music of the prophets, the music of repentance, but now, instead of speaking about the one who would come after him, he sent his disciples to ask Jesus a question: “Are You the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” Certainly, John was waiting for Jesus to be the Messiah; he had witnessed the voice coming out of the cloud when He came to be baptized. Jesus is quite bigger than a book or a theology. Jesus is an action alive in our daily routines.Jesus constantly plays God's music, and it is up to us to listen to Him, or to ignore His teachings.
On the one hand, the true disciple's prize will always be a heart full of joy; but a joy way different that the one proposed by the world. On a daily basis, but especially
during this Christmas season, our world promises joy and happiness, but constantly fails to deliver them.All that the world proposes is temporal; it disappears as soon as it has arrived. On the other hand, when the Gospel has been proclaimed in all its simplicity, it touches our hearts. It inspires in us desires of repentance, awakes our hunger of God,and challenges us to love our neighbor
Today, let us decide to work with determination. It does not matter what our daily duties are; let us be faithful to them. Let us work on them ethically, giving the best of ourselves; with generosity; being humble; as a service for others; and never looking at them as an opportunity for our own benefit. Behaving this way, we will discover how Jesus is the trustful source of true joy and true happiness. It will be then that we will discover how His presence among us quickly becomes the happiness that never extinguishes. By then, we will discover how joy and happiness can walk beside us, because sorrow and affliction will be over. As the apostle James proclaimed in today's second reading: “Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand.”

¿Eres tú el que ha de venir, o tenemos que esperar a otro?
En este tercer domingo de adviento aparece de nuevo Juan el Bautista, pero ahora con una retórica cambiada. Juan sigue predicando la música de los profetas y el arrepentimiento, pero ahora, en vez de hablar acerca del que habría de venir detrás de él, Juan envía a sus discípulos con una pregunta: “Eres tú el que tenía que venir o tendremos que esperar a otro?” Juan ciertamente esperaba que Jesús fuera el Mesías; el atestiguo la voz que lo identificó desde las nueve cuando Jesús vino a él por el Bautismo Jesús es mucho más que un libro o una teología. Jesús es acción en nuestra vida diaria. Jesús toca la música del amor de Dios, y está en nosotros el decidir si queremos ponerle atención,o ignorar sus enseñanzas.
Por un lado, para el verdadero discípulo cristiano la recompensa será siempre un inmenso regocijo en su corazón. Pero jamás será este un regocijo como el que el mundo propone. A diario, y particularmente durante esta temporada, el mundo nos promete gozo y felicidad, pero constantemente falla en entregarla.Todo lo que el mundo nos propone es efímero, desaparece tan pronto como ha llegado Por otro lado, cuando el evangelio es predicado con toda su simpleza, toca nuestros corazones, inspira en nosotros deseos de arrepentimiento, hambre de Dios, y nos reta a amar nuestros semejantes.
Tomemos hoy la decisión de actuar con determinación. Cualesquiera que sean nuestras obligaciones, cumplámoslas con fidelidad, éticamente, pongamos en ellas lo mejor de nosotros mismos, con generosidad y responsabilidad, con humildad, como servicio a los demás, y jamás como una oportunidad para nuestro propio beneficio Si decidimos aceptar el reto, pronto descubriremos cómo Jesús es el origen del regocijo y el gozo verdaderos; y que su presencia entre nosotros los creyentes, es el motivo real de la felicidad que no se extingue. Será entonces que tendremos el gozo y la dicha por escolta, porque la pena y la aflicción habrán terminado Como el apóstol Santiago lo dice en la segunda lectura: Mantengamos firme el ánimo, porque ¡la venida del Señor está ya cerca!

Vào Chúa Nhật thứ ba Mùa Vọng, Đấng Tẩy Giả lại xuất hiện, nhưng bây giờ thay đổi với những tiếng kêu mời khác. Gioan tiếp tục rao giảng theo âm điệu các ngôn sứ, âm điệu sám hối, nhưng giờ đây, thay vì nói về Đấng sẽ đến sau ông, ông sai các môn đệ mình hỏi Chúa Giêsu: "Thầy có phải là Đấng phải đến, hay chúng tôi còn phải đợi một Đấng nào khác?" Chắc chắn, Gioan đã mong chờ Chúa Giêsu là Đấng Messia; ông đã chứng kiến tiếng phán ra từ đám mây khi Ngài đến chịu phép rửa. Chúa Giêsu thì cao trọng hơn một cuốn sách hay một cuốn thần học. Chúa Giêsu hành động sống động trong cuộc sống hằng ngày của chúng ta. Chúa Giêsu luôn luôn tấu lên những bản nhạc của Thiên Chúa, và nó tùy thuộc chúng ta lắng nghe Ngài hoặc bỏ qua những giáo huấn của Ngài.
Một mặt, cái giá của người môn đệ thật sẽ luôn luôn là con tim đầy tràn niềm vui; nhưng một niềm vui rất khác biệt với niềm vui của thế gian. Trong cuộc sống hàng ngày, và đặc biệt trong suốt mùa Giáng Sinh này, thế giới hứa hẹn với chúng ta niềm vui và hạnh phúc,nhưng lại liên tục thất bại trong việc thực hiện chúng. Mọi thứ mà thế giới mang lại cho chúng ta đều là phù du, nó biến mất ngay khi nó đến.. Mặc khác, khi Phúc Âm được công bố với tất cả sự đơn giản của nó, Phúc Âm đã đánh động tâm hồn chúng ta, khơi dậy trong chúng ta ước muốn hối cải, đánh thức lòng khao khát Thiên Chúa và thúc đẩy chúng ta yêu thương đồng loại của mình.
Hôm nay, chúng ta hãy quyết định làm việc với sự quyết tâm. Cho dù bổn phận hàng ngày của chúng ta là gì đi nữa; chúng ta cùng nhau thực hiện một cách trung thực, có đạo đức, làm hết khả năng và trách nhiệm; với sự rộng lượng; khiêm hạ; như một sự phục vụ người khác; chứ không bao giờ coi đó như một cơ hội cho lợi ích cá nhân. Nếu chúng ta chấp nhận thử thách, chúng ta sẽ khám phá ra Chúa Giêsu là nguồn của niềm vui và hạnh phúc thật là thế nào. Sau đó chúng ta khám phá ra sự hiện diện của Ngài ở giữa chúng ta là niềm hạnh phúc không bao giờ phai tàn. Đến lúc đó, chúng ta sẽ khám phá ra thế nào là niềm vui mừng và hạnh phúc có thể đồng hành bên chúng ta, bởi vì đau khổ và phiền não sẽ kết thúc. Như thánh tông đồ Gia-cô-bê đã rao giảng trong bài đọc hai hôm nay: "Hãy vững lòng,vì Chúa gần đến."
