On March 15, 2019, we celebrated another landmark moment for Cathedral High School. After four years of planning, fundraising, supervising and construction, we celebrated the opening of our new Theater and Performing Arts Center at Cathedral High School. Our new facilities include a 360seat state of the art theater and our new arts classroom building which includes a studio art room, a black box theater classroom, our television production studio, music room and makers space lab. Our new De La Salle Hall Arts Building replaces the old Annex. The master of ceremonies for the ribbon-cutting event was KTLA’s Lynette Romero. Our celebration was attended by community leaders including former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Moctesuma Esparza, City Councilman Gil Cedillo, representatives of the De La Salle Institute, Gina Nisbeth Director of Citi Community Capital and representatives from the John and Dorothy Shea Foundation. A prayer service with the Cathedral students’ body was held prior to the blessing and ribbon cutting ceremonies. Together with our students, alumni, faculty, surrounding community and many friends, Cathedral High School has an unprecedented opportunity to transform inner-city Performing Arts. This historic event would not have been possible without the help of our generous individual donors, Southern California Foundations and our corporate and community partners. We look forward to helping elevate the Arts within our school and the surrounding community.
