CROSS COUNTRY
CIF-SS DIVISION IV RUNNER UP! Success does not come easy, yet Phantom Cross Country continues to thrive year after year. The Cross-Country team had another successful season, led by senior Tyriq Granillo. In September the team traveled to Portland to compete in the prestigious Nike Invitational. The team showed great promise after placing 3rd in the invitational. The Phantoms were led by seniors Tyriq Granillo, Gabriel Galaz, and had a great group of earned the Del Rey League title for the 9th season in 10 years.

Their experience showed during their dominant league campaign against Bishop Amat, St. Paul, La Salle and Don Bosco Tyriq Granillo was the individual Del Rey League champion.
The preseason and league meet prepared the team for the challenges ahead, the CIF-SS Finals. The boys would be runner up to Foothill Technology in the CIF-SS Division 4 meet. With the runner-up result, the team qualified for state finals at Woodward Park in Clovis, California and would finish top ten in the state. Six runners earned All-League awards and one All-CIF award.
Although the Cross-Country team was just short of their CIF goal, they showed great determination and passion throughout Tech where the team won all three league meets. The Phantoms
Phantoms as they will be returning four varsity runners and have a strong pool of younger talent eager to make the varsity roster.
BASKETBALL
Coach William Middlebrooks and his staff did an outstanding job of preparing the boys for a competitive 2019-2020 basketball season. Although the team was very young, they showed a lot of potential and promise.

With the start of the Camino Real League, the team captured victories over rivals, St. Paul and LaSalle. The Phantoms managed to go undefeated through the tough league campaign. The team was led by seniors Jordan Montrose, Ali-Efe Isik, Xavier Davis and Guilherme Pedra.
Phantom basketball entered the playoffs with an impressive 24-4 record. The Phantoms ended their season in the first round of playoffs with a heartbreaking loss to Bishop Alemany in the CIF Division II-AA Playoffs. The team will be returning six sophomores, two juniors and three seniors.

The season was certainly a breakout year for the Phantoms, but more importantly the experience of the younger talent ensures future success. Great job Phantom basketball program!
