Cocobanana is a little inventor living with his family Mama Banana, Papa Coco and his little sister Baby Coco. A regular family with relatable everyday challenges. But when Cocobanana uses his incredible inventions to solve problems everything gets turned upside down. Because although it can be tempting to turn dust into candy or turn back time to watch TV, the simplest solution isn’t always the best. As a result, Cocobanana ends up in very strange and hilarious situations - as funny for grown up readers as for small children.

Rolf Magne Golten Andersen (b. 1983) has written several stories in the Cocobananaseries for Storytel. His background is in film and TV as a screenwriter.

Cocobanana is about to conquer the screen as well: The universe from the books and audiobooks is currently under development as an animated TV-series. And in 2023 Cocobanana will appear on the stage, when Teater Ibsen tours Norway with their production Cocobanana and the Funny Machine

Cocobanana first appeared on the audiobook platform Storytel in Norway in the form of audio plays, and soon became a favourite amongst both kids and their parents. Cocobanana is one of the platform’s absolute most-streamed series within its target audience, with over 500.000 individual listeners.

Cocobanana
Papa Coco
A coconut who tries to be a good father, but it’s not always easy. Although usually caring and understanding, he can also make mistakes. His rules don’t always make sense, at least not to Cocobanana. Papa Coco likes to take things easy, but can also join in the playtime when necessary. Although he sometimes gets things wrong, he’s also good at learning from his mistakes. A character that many fathers will recognise themselves in. It is also his job to do the school run, since his wife starts work early.

Baby Coco
When he encounters problems, injustice or there’s something (or someone) stopping him from doing what he likes best, he reacts strongly (as most children do), but he always comes up with a solution. The solution is usually an invention by Cocobanana himself, built in his own inventor’s shed. He’s a fantastic inventor, and makes anything from vacuum cleaners that turn clutter into candy, to flying shoes or a clock that can turn back time. Unfortunately the simplest solution isn’t always the best, a lesson Cocobanana discovers when he unleashes his inventions on the world.
Cocobanana may be half coconut, half banana on the outside, but in all other respects he is like every other child. He loves to play, eat candy, watch TV, read comics, and spend time with friends and family. Cocobanana is an impulsive child with an abundance of creativity and energy. To him life is all about fun, and no one can convince him otherwise.

Meet the cast:
Cocobanana’s little sister is called Baby Coco. She’s a wild and naughty two-year-old who wants to both play with and torment Cocobanana. She can be an annoying little sister, but can also be wonderfully direct. Baby Coco and Cocobanana can also play and do things together.
An elderly banana-couple who prefer to spend time at home. Grandma is always in a good mood, whilst Grandpa can be a bit surly and wary of everything new. They are very fond of their grandchildren Cocobanana and Baby Coco, and love it when they visit.

A modern mum with a career in construction who loves to fix things. You’ll often find her in the garage working on the car. She is good at carving out time for herself, but is also a loving and wise mother to Cocobanana. Mama Banana can appear strict, but unlike Papa Coco who avoids confrontation, she is direct and gets stuff done. She is good at setting clear boundaries. Rational and to the point with rules that Cocobanana might not like, but that he understands - if not always straight away.
Mr Prune
Mr Prune is an old prune who lives next door to Grandma and Grandpa Banana. A calm and reliable man with many plum grandchildren who Cocobanana likes to play with when visiting his grandparents.

Cocobanana’s classmate and best friend. A sensible and cautious peanut girl, who likes order and predictability. She’s a bit of a ‘good girl’, and is skilled at things Cocobanana is less good at, like sports or outdoor activities. These two friends both compliment and challenge each other. She is usually a big fan of his inventions and wild ideas, but sometimes finds them a little overwhelming.

Cocobanana and the Fart Soda
It’s Grandad Banana’s birthday, and Cocobanana and the family are going to his party. But Cocobanana is dreading it, because it’s always really boring when the old bananas just sit around talking about grown-up things. He decides to inject some life into the party by inventing Fart Soda. But what will the serious Grandad Banana have to say when the grown-up conversation is drowned out by fart sounds?

Finally Cocobanana manages to get up and go into the bathroom where he begins to sing and dismantle the washing machine. "Cocobanana, Cocobanana," he sings. Papa Coco comes running in with Baby Coco. “Stop taking the washing machine apart! You haven't washed your face yet!” Papa Coco shouts while washing Baby Coco with one hand and brushing his teeth with the other.
Cocobanana thinks all his winter coats are itchy, so he tries coat after coat without being happy with any of them. Baby Coco puts his feet in the coat and his hands in the shoes. “Good idea, Baby Coco,” says Cocobanana. "Now you can walk on your hands without them getting dirty." Papa Coco does not think it's a good idea.

It's Monday morning. Cocobanana is fast asleep, even though the alarm clock rang a long time ago. Mama Banana always goes to work early, so Papa Coco is the one taking care of everything. Papa Coco bursts into the room: "Now you HAVE to get up!" Cocobanana does not like getting up quickly. What he does like is inventing things in his inventor’s shed, watching children's TV and sleeping.

Cocobanana wants to make his own breakfast and packed lunch, but Papa Coco thinks he is taking too long. Baby Coco wants to throw his porridge on the floor, on the walls, and on Cocobanana, but Papa Coco thinks that's quite a bad idea. "We need to hurry!" says Papa Coco. But it doesn’t really help.
Page 12-13:
Finally, everyone is in the car. "Papa, you should probably wear pants today. It's a bit too cold to just wear underpants", laughs Cocobanana. Papa Coco was in such a hurry he forgot to put his pants on. "If you don’t move quicker in the morning, we’ll have to start getting up in the middle of the night. And then you’ll have to go to bed before children's TV starts!” says Papa Coco while running inside to find his pants. Cocobanana does not want to get up in the middle of the night and go to bed before children's TV starts. He has to come up with a better plan.
Page 8-9:
As soon as Cocobanana gets home from school, he starts working on his plan. In his inventor's shed, he has everything he needs to build a robot. Cocobanana screws, hammers, welds and programs until the robot is finished. It has flashing lights, a square computer-head, electric-toothbrush fingers, hair-dryer shoulders and large wheels for of legs. Now it just needs to learn the morning routines.
Page 14-15:

Cocobanana's favorite breakfast has already been made – a large bowl of porridge with sugar and cinnamon. Baby Coco chews on a piece of fried egg. “I hope the food tastes good? Now, the packed lunches. Activate happy song,” says Hurryup-2000, and then he sings: “Cocobanana, Cocobanana.” Baby Coco and Cocobanana both sing along. Papa Coco runs into the kitchen wearing only his underpants. “What on earth? Have you got dressed and made your own breakfast?” Cocobanana points at Hurryup-2000: “No, Hurryup-2000 did.” Papa looks in shock at the robot making the packed lunches.
Hurryup-2000 is now fully trained and ready. "Do you remember what you're supposed to do tomorrow?" Cocobanana asks. The robot nods. “Wake Up Cocobanana and Baby Coco. Change Baby Coco diaper in bathroom. Put on clothes. Make breakfast. Make packed lunch. Brush teeth. Put on coat and boots. Say see you later alligator. ” Cocobanana gives Hurryup-2000 a hug. "This is going to be great!"
Cocobanana is sleeping soundly when the door bursts open and Hurryup-2000 rushes in. “Good morning, Cocobanana. The early bird catches the worm!” The robot gently lifts Cocobanana out of bed then drives quickly into the
Cocobanana changes the diaper on a doll. “Now it's your turn, Hurryup-2000." The robot answers with its robot voice: "Diaper change initiated." The robot swiftly puts the diaper on the doll. “Diaper change complete." Cocobanana laughs: "Try again, Hurryup-2000." Hurryup-2000 tries again and again until it manages to change the diaper at lightning speed. Now it has to learn how to make a packed lunch.
“Here is your packed lunch. One fish-paste and chocolate sandwich. One fishcake and custard. Yummy!” says the robot proudly. Cocobanana looks at the food: “Yuck! That looks super disgusting. Try again.”

The robot turns towards Papa Coco. “Omelette and coffee for Papa Coco? Papa Coco read newspaper now? Continue brushing teeth and put coats on small people?” Papa Coco smiles. “That sounds like a good plan. What an ingenious robot, Cocobanana!”

Cocobanana is then blown dry by the world's most powerful hairdryer. It's like a storm blowing right in his face. Cocobanana tries to say something, but Hurryup-2000 picks him up and forces on him to put on Baby Coco’s baby clothes!
Cocobanana is sleeping like a log when Hurryup-2000 crashes right through the door. "THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE WORM!" the robot shouts manically. Before Cocobanana has time to open his eyes, he is throughly drenched with water. Both Cocobanana and the bed are soaked through.
Page 28-29
Papa Coco comes running into the kitchen. "What on earth is haa-ppeni …" He doesn't get chance to say any more because Hurryup-2000 stuffs a dish-brush with toothpaste on it into his mouth. "Help!" gurgles Papa Coco through the foaming toothpaste.
Page 30-31:
Cocobanana gets plonked in the middle of the kitchen table. Yellow slime drips from the ceiling. "What? Is it raining egg yolk? ” There are 10 fried eggs hanging from the ceiling! There is a large porridge bowl full of soil and flowers on the table, while the flowerpot on the windowsill is full of porridge with sugar and cinnamon.
When Cocobanana has fallen asleep, Papa Coco sneaks in to the robot in the inventor's shed. Then he opens up the back of the robot and sets the dial to SUPERDUPERFAST. “Tomorrow we're going to really speed things up, right Hurryup?” laughs Papa Coco.

While they are eating supper, Papa Coco wonders how Hurryup-2000 works. Cocobanana show him the robot’s on-off button and the large speed dial at the back. “What happens if you set it to SUPERDUPERFAST?” asks Papa. “I haven’t tested it yet,” says Cocobanana. Papa Coco smiles wryly to himself.
Hurryup-2000 screeches into the kitchen. "We are very busy. We have to be superduper-fast." Baby Coco is wearing Cocobanana's clothes and is soaking wet. The robot has washed her with her clothes on. There are broken eggs all over the kitchen floor. The walls are splattered with flour and milk.
Page 32-33:
“Stop, Hurryup! You're going way too fast. You're going to wreck the entire house!” Cocobanana tries to reach the off button, but Hurryup-2000 turns away. “Sit down and eat your food. Do not switch robot off. We are very busy!”
Hurryup-2000 makes a packed lunch. A cheese sandwich with chopped lemon, chilis, pepper and jam. The robot wraps the sandwich in a diaper!
Hurryup-2000 did the nappy changing and made breakfast for Cocobanana and Baby Coco every single day that week. But then Papa Coco became impatient again. “Have you not brushed their teeth yet, Hurryup-2000? I'm ready to get in the car. We're in a rush!”
"Thank you so much, Cocobanana," Papa Coco says, wiping toothpa powder off his face. "I told you not to put him on superduperfas the floor. “Sorry. I just wanted us to be even faster in the mor

After that morning, Cocobanana and Papa Coco decided they would get up 15 minutes earlier each day. Now they even have time to play a little together before going out to the car. They never did that
The robot force-feeds Papa Coco coffee powder. Cocobanana sneaks up behind the robot, jumps onto his back and just manages to push the off button before Hurryup-2000 notices what’s happening. “Do not turn off. We are superduperbuuuussyyyy…” Hurryup-2000 stops.

way to the car, they say goodbye to the new Hurryup-2000. Cocobanana has turned it into the world's nicest robot lawnmower. It cuts the grass, collects the newspaper, chats with the neighbors and takes out the garbage when the garbage truck arrives. “Have a nice day, everyone!" says Hurryup-2000, then he carries on cutting the grass while singing: “Cocobanana, Cocobanananana, Cocobanana, Cocobanananana.”
