What’s On

On Wednesday of this week were privileged to welcome The Rev Peter Laurence, CEO of AngliSchools, and Lynne Thomson, Chair of the AngliSchools Board, to Cobram Anglican Grammar School Their visit provided an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about the school’s future and our commitment to academic excellence. A highlight of their visit was the exciting announcement that, due to strong enrolment interest, Cobram AGS will be running two streams of Year 7 in 2026 This growth reflects the school’s increasing reputation and the trust that families place in our educational programs
Some other highlights from the past fortnight have included:
At the beginning of this week, our VCE Vocational Major (VM) students embarked on a Survival Camp that tested their resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills The camp was both physically and mentally demanding, presenting students with real-life challenges that required adaptability and perseverance In the aftermath, students emerged with a deep sense of accomplishment, having developed valuable skills that will benefit them in their academic and personal lives. The experience reinforced the importance of collaboration and resilience, key attributes for their future pathways
We recently hosted a successful Year 7 Taster Day, welcoming over 45 prospective students to experience a day of Senior School at Cobram AGS The event provided these students with the opportunity to engage in interactive lessons, meet our teachers, and familiarise themselves with our school environment The positive feedback from both students and parents highlighted the welcoming nature of our school community and the quality of education we offer.
Harmony Day was once again a vibrant occasion, celebrating the rich cultural diversity within our school community. Students and staff came together to acknowledge and appreciate the various backgrounds, traditions, and languages that make Cobram AGS such an inclusive environment Activities throughout the day promoted understanding and unity, reinforcing the message that ‘Everyone Belongs ’ The event was a testament to our school’s commitment to fostering respect and inclusivity.
These recent events highlight the dynamic and growing nature of Cobram Anglican Grammar School. We look forward to continuing to provide enriching experiences that support our students' growth and development
From 17-20 March , our Year 8 students headed south for an unforgettable adventure to Phillip Island. The journey began early Monday morning as the group departed Cobram and made their way to their first stop at Maru Koala and Animal Park There, students had the chance to interact with iconic Australian wildlife. After arriving at The Island Accommodation and settling in, students set off on scenic nature walks at Swan Lake and The Nobbies Boardwalk The day concluded with a magical evening at the Penguin Parade, where students watched in awe as little penguins waddled ashore at sunset
Tuesday was packed with excitement, starting with a morning at A Maze’N Things, where students explored illusions, puzzles, and mazes. After lunch, they hit the beach for a surfing and boogie boarding session at YCW Beach, guided by Out There Outdoor Activities. The fun continued into the evening with a hearty roast dinner at camp and a lively bowling session at Phillip Island Ten Pin Bowling
On Wednesday, the group visited the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory to learn about chocolate production and indulge in some tasty treats After lunch at Cape Woolamai Surf Beach, they tackled the Cape Woolamai Beacon Loop Walk, enjoying breathtaking coastal views during their hike. The evening was filled with delicious pizza and a teacher-led trivia night, bringing lots of laughter and friendly competition
The final day included a morning visit to Clip N Climb for an energetic climbing session, followed by a picnic lunch on the way home The group returned to Cobram in the late afternoon, understandably exhausted but full of stories and memories to treasure!
At the beginning of this week, our Year 11 VCE Vocational Major students put their Personal Development Skills to the test during an unforgettable "survival camp" at Paddy’s Beach in Cobram Regional Park
The adventure began with a hike from school to the camp site, where the group wasted no time pulling their fishing rods out! Kyden kicked things off with an impressive catch, reeling in a monster cod, and Evalee followed up with a big catch of her own that evening!
Throughout the camp, students embraced the full survival experience building their own shelters, cooking damper over an open fire, and participating in an environmental awareness activity using natural materials from around the campsite
An unexpected educational bonus from the camp was a surprise visit from two Parks Victoria Rangers, who were kind enough to share their insights into careers in conservation, the responsibilities of a ranger, and the importance of protecting our natural environment
We had an absolutely fantastic time welcoming our future Year 7 students to the first Taster Day of the year last Friday! The energy was high as students jumped into a day full of hands-on learning and new adventures. English, Science, Foods, Drones, and exploring the world of Technology through our Kuka Robots were all part of the program! The group were curious, confident, and ready to embrace the new subjects they will eventually get to experience in Senior School The day ended on a great note as the students joined the wider school in celebrating Harmony Day with a range of fun activities at school and over at the Sports Stadium These whole-school events are always a great showcase of our school spirit and inclusive community and this Harmony Day was no different!
Following this Taster Day, we are thrilled to confirm that our 2026 Year 7 intake will include TWO classes. This growth reflects the strong interest in our school and the dynamic learning environment we continue to build for all learners. Given that class sizes are capped and a waiting list may apply, we encourage all 2026 Year 7 enrolment applications (for external students) be made as soon as possible to secure their place. All enrolment enquiries should be directed to enrolments@cags.vic.edu.au
Our current Year 6 families will receive an intention to re-enrol form early next term.

Their visit began with a morning tea shared with our staff, offering a wonderful opportunity for conversation about some of the exciting things happening within the AngliSchools network. Mr Willett then led Peter and Lynne on a tour of the school, where they were able to see firsthand the vibrant learning environment we’re so proud of.
A highlight of their visit was dropping in on our very first Student Forum meeting, a new initiative in 2025 Our student representatives spoke confidently about what they love most about their school and shared thoughtful ideas for how the Cobram AGS can continue to grow and improve Peter and Lynne listened with genuine interest and encouraged these leaders to continue using their collective voice to make our school a better place

At Cobram AGS we know how important it is for students to be computer literate Each class has a dedicated period of ICT to enhance their computer skills. Students have access to the computer laboratory, which is a fantastic resource where the teacher can model the skills first on the large screen and then students can practice the skill on their on individual computers There are over 30 desktop computers in this room By the end of Year 2, students experiment with ICT as a creative tool and to communicate their ideas They share experiences and develop new learning and skills in operating ICT.
They identify and safely use computer hardware and available peripherals. They know basic operations, including navigating the desktop and using interactive resources They create documents using basic keyboard skills and formatting techniques The Foundation students learn to navigate the keyboard, using capital letters, full stops and basic word processing skills. The Year 1s and 2s start to use their word processing skills, and knowledge of PowerPoint and Word to create presentations related to Literacy and Inquiry topics.
