What’s On

This week at Cobram Anglican Grammar School, we have been delighted to continue our focus on professional growth through a new teaching and learning initiative that’s generating real excitement across our staff
With the guidance and expertise of Greg Newbold (Learning and Leading Mentor), we have launched a professional development series aimed at strengthening core teaching practices school-wide.
This initiative centres on three foundational elements of effective teaching:
Creating a safe and supportive learning environment
Designing clear and well-paced lessons
Delivering explicit, purposeful instruction
Staff are participating in a series of classroom observations designed to promote reflection, celebrate effective practice, and encourage small, strategic shifts that can make a big difference in student learning.
The response from our teachers so far has been overwhelmingly positive Many have found the opportunity to engage in focused reflection with Greg – a respected and very experienced educator from outside our school – both affirming and professionally enriching It’s been fantastic to see the level of engagement and commitment to growth.
Greg has shared equally positive feedback about Cobram AGS, commenting on the high standard of teaching and the genuinely impressive calibre of our students.
He has been particularly struck by the strong learning culture here – characterised by respect, curiosity, and a shared commitment to excellence. This initiative is just one example of our ongoing dedication to continuous improvement and staff development
We are incredibly proud of the work our teachers do every day and remain committed to supporting them as they refine and elevate their practice
Uniform: A reminder that all students are expected to wear the school uniform neatly and completely. This means students must be in either full summer or full winter uniform – not a mix of both Please take a moment to review the school uniform policy (which can be found on our website under the ‘Parent Hub’ page) if you need clarification
King’s Birthday long weekend and Anglican Identity Day: Please note that students are not required at school on Monday 9 June and Tuesday 10 June due to the public holiday and staff professional learning day.
Upcoming Key Dates:
VCE Subject Expo and Year 10
Information Evening – Monday 16 June
GAT Exam (For students undertaking a VCE Unit 3/4 subject) – Tuesday 17 June
Arts Faculty Showcase – Wednesday 18 June
Junior School Disco – Friday 20 June
Warm regards, Keith.
It’s safe to say that our Biggest Morning Tea was a resounding success!
A delectable array of sweet and savory treats welcomed students, staff, and families, making it quite challenging to select just a few favorites!
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who generously brought in a plate of food your delicious contributions were truly appreciated.
We’re also proud to share that we raised $350 for the Cancer Council through donations on the day This fantastic result is a testament to the kindness and community spirit that shines throughout our school
A special thanks to the parents and loved ones who joined us for the event and made the morning even more
Year 1/2 C had the pleasure of having Isabelle Radford, a Year 10 work experience student, in our class for week 5 of term It was a wonderful opportunity for Isabelle to get a taste of working life and to gain insights into a potential career in education and teaching
Isabelle was able to work and intermingle with students: listening to reading, working one on one making two-digit numbers, helping with spelling, and generally circulating around our classroom and the specialists’ classrooms to assist the children
Good luck with your career choice Isabelle!
~ Mrs Clark, 1/2 C teacher.

Exciting progress continues at the Trades Centre, with the interior really starting to take shape! Wall framing and window installation are nearly finished, while work on cladding and external areas is well underway.
Inside, electricians, plumbers, and mechanical teams have completed much of the behind-the-scenes work, preparing the building for the next phase Plastering has made great progress, and joinery is ready to be installed; bringing us one step closer to seeing the interior come to life It’s certainly exciting to see the transformation unfolding each day
We look forward to sharing more updates as we move closer to delivering this fantastic new learning space for our students.
This year our school has introduced the Student Forum as a meaningful way to empower student voice and strengthen the connection between students and school leadership. The initiative is designed to give students a platform to share ideas, raise concerns, and contribute to shaping their own educational experience The Forum naturally encourages leadership, collaboration, and a sense of ownership among students for creating a better school experience for all
Our 2025 Student Forum brings together several leadership cohorts, made up of the following students:
Leader of the Student Forum: Matilda Waser
School Captains: Abigail Brooker, Alina Corso, Mackenzie Duhring and Regan Rouse
House Captains: Jeremy Packer, Ben Curnick, Jack Brown, Miley Driscoll, Olivia Thompson, Kyden Rodda, Peyton Royston and Heidi Webb
Year 7: Chase Bouchier and Jasper Brown
Year 8: Asha Mustica and Alison Orwin
Year 9: Lachlan Packer and Gurhar Singh
Year 10: Peter Everingham
This Friday, the Forum met with Head of Senior School, Mr John Thompson, to discuss a range of topics Members provided updates on what has been happening across their year level and shared creative ideas for fun whole-school activities, fundraising opportunities, and ways to connect the Junior and Senior Schools. They also explored ideas for celebrating the 25th anniversary of Cobram AGS and reviewed some areas within Student Handbook for Years 7–10, discussing ways to streamline school processes regarding things like catching up on assignments/tests.
Cobram AGS sent three teams to Shepparton this Friday for the GMDSSV Year 7/8 badminton tournament. We had a Year 8 Girls, Year 8 Boys, and Year 7 Boys side all vying for glory, and all represented the school with pride, determination, and skill.
The standout performers of the day were our Year 8 Girls who dominated their competition to take out top spot and progress to the Hume Regional event Well done! The team of Angelina McKay, Melody Su, Jessica Voeurn, and Vanessa Voeurn delivered a brilliant performance, dropping only one set across three group matches against Cobram Secondary, Notre Dame, and Greater Shepparton Secondary College They went on to defeat Notre Dame in the final with a commanding 5 sets to 1 victory an outstanding achievement!
Our Year 7 Boys also impressed, winning two of their three group matches Congratulations to all three teams on a fantastic day of competition and for showcasing great sportsmanship.
This Monday, our Year 8 class, Indigenous students, and School Captains attended a Sorry Day commemoration at Monash Park in Shepparton on Yorta Yorta Country
The event provided a meaningful opportunity for these students to reflect on the ongoing impact of the Stolen Generations.
We are especially proud of Alina Corso (Captain of Stewardship) and Regan Rouse (Captain of Anglican Identity), who both delivered a thoughtful reading as part of the ceremony They were outstanding representatives of our school community, embodying respect, empathy, and leadership
As a school, we stand in solidarity and remain committed to learning, reflecting, and walking the path of reconciliation together.
