School social worker fills much-needed role

STAFF EDITORIAL ast month, the district announced a new partnership with OhioGuidestone to provide mental health support for students. For many years, the comunity has been asking for help with their mental health and we applaud the district for listening to our concerns. The partnership is an important step for our distict because many student suffer from mental health issues. Anxiety, stress, and personal problems all take their toll on students every day. Students are facing more stress than ever. Some are facing the difficulites of doing school remotely and others arestruggling with possible exposure. This year is, by far, the best year for the partnership. The past eight months have

made bariers for everyone. The step to better students mental health is a sign that the administration is pro-growth. By providing students easier access to a social worker, mental health issues could decrease for students willing to talk about their problems and get help. Although it took many years for the district to take real steps to offer help to students, praise is due for the district. There have been student concerns about how the distric treats mental heath issues for many years but this step is showing the way to a new era for the administration. Students are greatful for the resources that are coming to fruition this year. This is a sign for the possblity of a more enjoyable time in school, if the distirct continues to progress in this manner.
