OUR ACHIEVEMENTS TO DATE
As a company, we’re focused on continuously improving our environmental management system. We are currently exploring new processes and systems to reduce our primary waste streams and increase the diversion of materials from landfills.
Waste minimization and landfill diversion

• We have fully transitioned all shuffle packaging from foam cutouts to using sealed air. We are also in the process of transitioning from sealed air to cardboard materials, with 890 boxes successfully transitioned so far.
• Our Las Vegas Global HQ Production team has initiated efforts to condense plastic foam for repurposing instead of disposing it in landfills. The condensed plastic foam is sent to a vendor for use in multiple plastic products, creating full-circle recycling opportunities.

• Our Las Vegas Global HQ Production team has also:
Bailing and compacting plastic foam gives it a second life as a new packaging product, diverting waste from landfills.
- Reduced 50% of the foam in 31,000 system kit boxes per year
- Replaced 19,000 foam stabilizers per year with recycled cardboard to prevent games from tipping over during shipping
- Reduced foam usage in 8,600 multi-glass boxes
Our Las Vegas Global HQ Production team has successfully recycled or repurposed over 600 tons of retired or decommissioned games in the past 3 years.
The Chiswick, London, U.K., office has introduced a composting program, including an innovative mushroom farm.
Our India offices removed plastic utensils from their offices and replaced them with metal, which can be washed and reused.
Our Athens, Greece, office participates in the Green Office Program, which recycles plastic cups, coffee packets, beans and eco-friendly cleaning materials.
Our manufacturing center in Sydney, Australia, has achieved a 95% recycle rate.
Renewable energy
• In 2021, our India offices launched an Energy Analysis and Optimization Project, identifying key opportunities to reduce energy consumption, such as installing motion sensors, managing indoor temperature settings and benchmarking performance for continued improvements.
The Athens, Greece office now runs on
100% renewable energy sources.
Water conservation & preservation
• Las Vegas Global HQ introduced a water and waste conservation initiative by providing Creators with reusable water bottles and coffee mugs. In just two months since the program’s launch, we eliminated 73,820 water bottles and 41,000 coffee cups in waste.
Fleet management
• We are currently assessing electric and hybrid fleet vehicle opportunities in the U.S., U.K. and Australia to reduce fuel consumption and transition to a sustainable model for fleet activities.
• As part of our 5-year roadmap, we are evaluating investments in vehicle charging stations for select office locations.

Collective Action For A Greener World
In addition to our internal efforts, our team of Creators have been directly engaged in environmental stewardship across the communities where we operate. In 2022, Light & Wonder supported two EARTHDAY.ORG™ initiatives — The Great Global Cleanup Project® and The Canopy Project.
As part of The Great Global Cleanup Project, our Creators spent up to eight volunteer hours cleaning up their communities, and The Canopy Project allowed our Creators to purchase a tree to rehabilitate our natural environment. Light & Wonder offered participants paid time off and matching donations. Worldwide, our Creators have also extended support to their regional environmental causes throughout the year. Our U.K. Finance team organized a community cleanup initiative in collaboration with Tameside Council. Groups of our dedicated Finance and Facilities Creators came together to clear trash from some of the community’s busiest riverbanks, helping preserve the local environment and beautify a cherished gathering place.
