Promoting learning & development

At Light & Wonder we believe in the value of ongoing education for Creators and the organization as a whole. That's why we’re always introducing new programs to amplify and capture the essence of our core values. We provide internal training opportunities and specialty skills training, including software and design courses, data and analytics, programs to promote personal growth and wellness, such as fitness program subsidies, access to local networking events and conference opportunities. We also offer a tuition reimbursement program to encourage ongoing professional development.

Our global teams have access to educational resources provided by our Learning & Development team. Over the past year, we have introduced several new programs to offer Creators opportunities for learning and create a culture of inclusion.

Recent highlights from our ERGs

EMPOWHER:

WOMEN CREATORS & ALLIES

During Women’s History Month, in partnership with EMPOWHER, we took part in the International Women’s Day 2022 “Break the Bias” campaign. The program was designed to broaden perspectives across our global teams and promote a culture of belonging — free of bias and discrimination. Creators posted photos demonstrating their support of gender inclusivity under the collective pledge to #BreaktheBias.

Meaningful Partnerships Pave The Way

Starting in 2022, our partnership with LinkedIn Learning, an industry leader, has provided our Creators with access to over 21,000 courses on various topics, including DEI, communication, performance management, teamwork, personal effectiveness and building a positive work environment.

We have also partnered with MindGym, a globally recognized organization serving top companies, to provide courses on inclusive cultures. These courses are designed to translate learning into action by utilizing scientific principles around behavior change, moving our understanding of DEI beyond tokenism and political correctness.

To meet our DEI education and culture goals, we offer live virtual courses for all managers and above to better comprehend equity and act as allies for underrepresented people.

Lessons from our lifelong learners

Here’s what some of our Creators had to say about our DEI education offerings:

Well thought out, well organized. Navigated what could be a tricky and sensitive topic well. Presented with great energy to keep the team engaged.

SPOTLIGHT Experiences that bring our learning to life

Thank you for curating and supporting this great course. Courses and training like this provide a great foundation for our DEI learning journey and offer shared language and baseline learning that allow us to continue to grow.

In February 2022, our ILLUMINATE and EMPOWHER ERGs collectively sponsored a virtual event to honor Black History Month and Women’s History Month. In partnership with our Creator engagement platform, Visit.org, and In Full Color, a performance arts studio dedicated to amplifying the work of marginalized artists of color, performers shared original pieces — monologues, poems, stories, songs and dance — in a powerful storytelling event. The performances prompted lively discussions about the social issues that inspired their work and reiterated the value of a diverse workplace with authentic representation.

Global Creator Engagement Survey

Since 2020, Light & Wonder has issued a global Creator Engagement Survey to gather valuable feedback in how we are doing as an organization. We assess crucial areas such as engagement, leadership and management, communication and teamwork, and core values. Our Creators’ candid responses help us take actionable steps to drive meaningful change and make Light & Wonder an even better place to work.

We are proud that our overall engagement score consistently remains high. Our engagement score rose from 73% in 2021 to 75% in 2022. This upward trend is a testament to our ongoing efforts to create a work environment that promotes engagement, ultimately leading to increased Creator retention and productivity. This score was determined by positive responses to the following statements:

“I would recommend Light & Wonder as a great place to work.”

“Light & Wonder enables me to balance work and personal life.”

“I am proud to work for Light & Wonder.”

We also continue to see significant improvements in support of our social responsibility efforts. In response to the statement “Light & Wonder’s commitment to social responsibility (e.g., community support, sustainability, etc.) is genuine,” we’ve seen a gradual 4% increase in favorable responses year over year.

Our focus on DEI is also yielding positive outcomes. Critical statements, such as “People from all backgrounds have equal opportunities to succeed at Light & Wonder” and “Light & Wonder values diversity,” received highly favorable responses of over 80%.

Since the launch of Light & Wonder as a brand, we have placed a strong emphasis on driving our core values. The survey results reveal that 88% of Creators favorably scored the statement “I know and understand the new company core values.” This high score indicates that our Creators have a clear understanding of our guiding principles as an organization. While there is always room for growth and improvement, this strong foundation of understanding sets us on the right path toward fostering an aligned company culture.

Another key indicator of how people feel about work is their relationship with their direct manager. Managers play a vital role in motivating, guiding and supporting their teams, ultimately influencing Creator satisfaction, productivity and overall performance. We’ve seen promising trends indicating that our Creators have experienced continued growth in their relationships with their managers. The favorable responses to the following statements all increased 3% year over year:

1. My manager genuinely cares about my well-being.

2. My manager keeps me informed about what is happening at Light & Wonder.

3. My manager gives me useful feedback on how well I am performing.

The progress we’ve made in DEI, Creator engagement and positive relationships with our leaders is propelling us forward on our roadmap to success. With continued focus on these areas, we are shaping a workplace that embraces diversity, cultivates strong relationships and drives positive change.
