Keeping our Creators safe

At Light & Wonder, our passion for creativity and innovation is matched by our unwavering commitment to health and safety. We firmly believe that the well-being of our Creators is the foundation for producing exceptional gaming experiences — from the earliest stages of development through installation and completion. Behind every immersive experience we craft is a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program committed to keeping our teams safe.

Establishing a culture of safety not only protects our Creators but also fuels the innovation that drives our success. Come any challenge or roadblock, we take thorough precautions to ensure our workforce is safe, supported and encouraged to show up at their best.

EHS mitigates risk across our organization with a systematic and evidence-based approach.

Through diligent oversight, we address and work to prevent a wide range of potential safety concerns, including ergonomic hazards, work at heights, material handling and accidents and injuries. By regularly enhancing and reinforcing our safety measures, we are committed to creating an environment where all our Creators can thrive.

OUR GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY

As the leading cross-platform global games company, we are dedicated to ingraining EHS best practices into everything we do. We have implemented comprehensive safety measures to create an environment where everyone — our Creators, contractors and visitors — can feel secure and protected. By championing safe working conditions for all, we aim to set a leading standard for ourselves and inspire others in the industry to follow suit. Together, we can create a healthier future for our Creators, communities and planet.

WE PROACTIVELY SET STRATEGIC EHS OBJECTIVES BASED ON THE FOLLOWING GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

Prevent Creator injuries and work-related illnesses

Promote sustainable manufacturing by working to prevent pollution and reduce waste

Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS requirements and regulations

Establish EHS performance objectives to continuously improve our operational processes

Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to strengthen EHS practices across the supply chain

Provide education and training to our leaders and Creators about their role in upholding EHS management systems and policies

These global EHS principles are supported by policies and procedures set by local Light & Wonder facility managers around the world.

Recent Ehs Programs

Over the past two years, we have made significant investments in enhancing our safety management system. With a firm commitment to continuous improvement, we’ve focused on updating our workplace risk assessments and training systems. This involves evaluating the current state of safety measures, identifying any changes or new risks and ensuring that appropriate controls and preventive measures are in place.

We have successfully implemented new EHS management software, which helps us gain valuable insights to hone our strategy and focus on addressing our highest risks. This software enables us to establish a consistent approach to incident reporting, including near misses, hazards and injuries. It also ensures that we uphold uniform language throughout incident investigations and reporting to help us maintain clarity in our processes.

With these new standardization measures, we can create a workplace environment where our Creators have confidence and peace of mind in knowing that their safety is our top priority — wherever their work takes them.

To enhance incident response and equip Creators with the necessary tools and resources, we’ve implemented a lone-worker communication system for our U.S. Field Service teams. The LiveSafe mobile app provides Creators with two-way communication and geofencing capabilities, ensuring they have the means to navigate major incidents, natural disasters or other crises with confidence and efficiency. This app provides a vital lifeline, connecting Creators instantly and enabling us to quickly respond with the necessary assistance. Our Creators can take comfort in knowing that no matter the challenge or circumstance they may face, we’re with them every step of the way.

We prioritize safety not only in our workplace but also in the products we offer and the installation processes we follow. Our Field Service team recently collaborated to develop an innovative modular signage design that effectively reduces both size and weight.

This breakthrough allows for a safer installation process, ensuring the well-being of our Creators and customers alike, and it inspires our ongoing work. As customer demand for new signs and equipment continues to grow worldwide, we are dedicated to delivering visionary solutions that uphold the highest standards of safety for all stakeholders involved.

To support our efforts, we’ve built a strong global network of health and safety professionals. These dedicated individuals help us actively engage stakeholders and implement industryleading programs, ensuring a culture of safety throughout our organization.

Based on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s recordkeeping standard, Light & Wonder has a current global total recordable incident rate of 0.32.

OUR COVID-19 RESPONSE

When the COVID-19 pandemic presented worldwide obstacles unlike anything we had experienced before, as a global company, we responded swiftly and decisively. Our Global Crisis Management team took the lead in implementing our pandemic preparedness plan to help us navigate the challenging circumstances effectively. As lockdowns were enforced across the globe, we seamlessly transitioned to a work-from-home model, ensuring minimal disruptions to our operation.

Each business unit’s Crisis team played a crucial role in addressing the unique impacts their respective teams faced. They worked closely with our Crisis Management team, HR, EHS, local site management and facilities to ensure a coordinated, comprehensive approach. By leaning into our core values, we were able to better support our Creators across 170 locations — one of our defining moments of “Winning as a Team.”

We adopted the Cushman & Wakefield Safe 6 model to guide the reopening of our offices. This comprehensive framework focuses on essential safety and health elements, ensuring that our Creators could return to a secure and protected workplace. Through our proactive measures and effective collaboration, we were able to minimize the impact of the pandemic on our Creators and successfully fulfill our customer commitments. Safe, healthy Creators and satisfied customers — they’re the crux of our work.

A Safer Future

Our commitment to a safe and healthy workplace goes beyond meeting regulatory requirements. It’s a fundamental aspect of our company culture — one we strive to continually improve. Light & Wonder is dedicated to enhancing our programs and activities that promote safety, health and wellness to support our Creators in prioritizing their health. We offer Creators safety toolbox talks, health fairs and discounted memberships at local health clubs.

Through special Creator programs, periodic safety training for all Creators and organized events, such as on-site flu shot clinics and blood donation drives, we foster a culture that champions safety and wellness. By investing in the health and safety of our Creators, we’re creating a supportive environment that fuels our collective, long-term success.
