abarete en la costa norte de la República Dominicana, recibió a grandes del Kite, Surf, Windsurf y Stand Up Paddle en el tradicional Master of The Ocean una de las competencias náuticas deportivas mas completas, celebrada el pasado 23 al 27 de febrero en Playa Encuentro y que cumplió su décima tercera entrega.
y conocieran las excelentes condiciones climáticas de viento y olas que posee este litoral costero de RD durante todo el año.
La Playa se vistió de cometas, velas y tablas conmocionando a todos los visitantes y atletas lo que se ha convertido en uno de los eventos más famosos del Caribe y el mundo.
Estas combinaciones de diferentes disciplinas deportivas se han vuelto muy famosas y permite al practicante ejecutar surfear las olas, dar saltos, giros en el aire y volteretas espectaculares, a veces 20 a 30 pies por encima de la superficie.
Marcus Bohn fue el fundador y organizador de este gran evento desde el 2003 con la idea de que locales del país tuvieran la oportunidad de medirse contra profesionales de otras naciones

Participaron decenas de deportistas provenientes de Cánada, USA, Israel, Barbados, Venezuela, Hawai, Alemania y República Dominicana.
El Rey de las Olas 2015 ó el Iron Man del Mar recayó sobre Zane Schweitzer de Hawái, quien con solo tiene 21 años logró
cautivar al público con sus ejecuciones sobre las olas recibiendo el gran trofeo. Le subsiguieron el local Samuel “Sammy” Pérez Hults y Fiona Wylde en segundo y tercer puesto respectivamente. Fiona es la Master Woman. Las posiciones del Master Team fueron: Terminator, LG y Aloha en primer, segundo y tercer lugar respectivamente. Schweitzer ganó el premio MOTO por acumular los puntos más altos en las actuaciones generales. Zane felicitó a Sammy y Fiona por sus logros e hizo hincapié en que: “el océano es la vida que unió a toda esta gente fantástica”. Gracias también al equipo que hizo que todo esto suceda; el año pasado fue una chispa, este año está a punto de estallar. Ustedes son la bomba!”. Los competidores del Master of the Ocean fueron felicitados por su resistencia y fortaleza ya que no es nada fácil luchar con el viento, el agua y el sol 12 horas al día y 4 días consecutivos, y aún así seguir teniendo fuerzas para sonreír y brindarse apoyo unos con otros”.

LA FUNDACIÓN FERRIES DEL CARIBE Celebra el 2do. Torneo de Pesca en San Juan Bay Marina a beneficio de los más necesitados en República Dominicana.
S
an Juan, Puerto Rico– La Fundación Ferries del Caribe celebró su 2do. Torneo de Pesca en el San Juan Bay Marina durante el fin de semana del 9 al 11 de enero de 2015.
Contó con la participación de 34 lanchas que se dieron cita para participar de tan esperado evento enfocado en ayudar a quien más lo necesita. Como en ediciones anteriores es un éxito gracias a la colaboración de todos los auspiciadores, en especial de Big Top Rental que fungió como el presentador del evento y el Club de Carros Exóticos quienes año tras año mantienen un compromiso genuino con la obra que realiza esta fundación. El sábado, en un ambiente familiar, se contó con la participación de la reconocida diseñadora Alexandra Escudero Thon quien nos cautivó con un desfile de modas y su exclusiva línea de trajes de baño Bienteveo en el Mar. Como parte de las actividades de cierre, niños, jóvenes y adultos disfrutaron de la música a cargo de la banda El Bastón de Diego.

La Vice Presidenta de la Fundación Ferries del Caribe, Maribel Más, indicó que más de 285 mil personas y médicos e indigentes se han beneficiado de la ayuda que la fundación le ha brindado a través de las ferias de salud y otras acciones que se han realizado. Además, explicó que la fundación ha convertido en una hermosa ciudad el Batey Isabela en Barahona, República Dominicana donde se construyeron 199 casas beneficiándose más de 1,400 familias. También indicó que todos los donativos recaudados de este evento están destinados para la construcción de la escuela en donde más de 150 niños con discapacidades podrán asistir. En la actualidad, dicha escuela ofrece sus servicios a 68 niños con condiciones especiales en una pequeña casa de madera que no consta con las facilidades apropiadas para sus condiciones. “Ya se está preparando el terreno que adquirimos para comenzar la construcción de la escuela, la cual esperamos culminar a finales de este año.”, concluyó Más.

EL VELERO ESPAÑOL PIÑA COLADA TRIUNFA EN LA VII REGATA ABORDO 2015.Veleristas de Inglaterra, Estados Unidos, Argentina, España y República Dominicana alzaron sus velas para dar la vuelta a Cayo Levantado, en Samaná.
D
el viernes 6 al domingo 8, el staff de Abordo se trasladó a 2015 las exclusivas instalaciones de Puerto Bahía Marina & Residences para realizar la tradicional Regata Abordo en su séptima versión, en la cual resultaron vencedores los veleros Piña Colada, Boondoggle y Wolfgang, en primer, segundo y tercer lugar de la categoría monocascos, respectivamente. Mientras que los argentinos Pachi Coquet, Leandro Tannembaum, Víctor Esteve, Tomas Guillermo Avogadro, Eugenio Heer y Santiago Obarrio, del velero argentine Zingaro, fueron premiados por obtener un cuarto nivel.

En otro lado en la clase de multicascos venció arrolladoramente el velero dominicano Pongó, con sus integrantes Emilio Cadenas y Oscarín Batista, quienes alzaron sus velas hasta obtener la presea del triunfo. Las condiciones climáticas fueron propicias para disfrutar de un fin de semana cargado de estupendas actividades, que comenzaron el viernes 6 con un rico coctel de bienvenida, continuándo el sábado 7, en la tarde, con la preparación de un exquisito sancocho para los competidores e invitados especiales para seguir la noche en una fiesta tropical amenizada por dj Astor Adams. En la mañana del domingo 8, comenzó la competencia de los veleros y cayendo la tarde se realizó la premiación de los ganadores, mientras estos difrutaban de un BBQ frente al mar.
Durante el acto de premiación Alma Taveras, editora de la revista Abordo y organizadora del evento, agradeció no solo el apoyo a los ejecutivos de las instalaciones de Puerto Marina Bahía & Residences sino también a los demás patrocinadores por confiar en su trabajo para llevar a cabo un evento de esta magnitud. VOLVO OCEAN Siguiendo la vuelta al mundo en vela, una aventura deportiva y humana como pocas.
L
a Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 da la vuelta al mundo, y recala en 11 puertos de 11 países, comenzando por Europa, y pasando por África, Asia, Australasia y América antes de volver, para acabar, en Europa. Una verdadera circunnavegación al globo. Los equipos Donfeng Race – Mapfre – Abu Dhabi – Team Brunel – Team Alvimedica – Team SCA (Femenino) – Team Vestas Wind han recorrido cuatro etapas (Pata 1: Alicante – Cape Town • Pata 2: Cape Town – Abu Dhabi • Pata 3: Abu Dhabi – Sanya • Pata 4: Sanya – Auckland, NZL), llenas de grandes retos, experiencias, fuertes vientos, oleaje, constantes y cambiantes condiciones climáticas que su coraje y pasión es lo que le han permitido seguir a estos grandes veleristas que se decidieron dar la vuelta al mundo. rios y peligrosos del mundo en cuestiones de navegación, el Cabo de Hornos. El Cabo de Hornos evoca tormentas, oleaje, naufragios y leyendas. La apertura del Canal de Panamá ha hecho que gran parte del tráfico comercial utilice esta vía para pasar del océano Atlántico al Pacífico, razón por la que sólo unos cuantos locos de la navegación se atreven hoy en día a doblar el cabo más meridional de los tres grandes del hemisferio sur. Y la mayoría de ellos lo hace embarcados en regatas de vuelta al mundo como la Volvo Ocean Race, que doblará este mítico hito de la navegación y para ello los equipos ya han comenzado a reforzar sus tripulaciones con artillería pesada. Con tripulantes de esos que, si todavía se llevara lo del aro en la oreja izquierda por cada paso del Cabo de Hornos, parecerían un árbol de navidad. El mítico navegante oceánico Damian Foxall se sube al Dongfeng, Iker Martínez vuelve al MAPFRE, Team Alvimedica integra al neozelandés Stu Bannatyne, triple campeón de la VOR y un auténtico ‘galáctico’ de los océanos con experiencia en Cabo de Hornos.
A pocos días de que esta etapa dé comienzo, abundan las conversaciones sobre lo sucedido en la edición 2011-12, cuando toda la flota salvo un barco sufrió roturas enfrentándose a olas de hasta 15 metros, y Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing tuvo que parar en Chile. Al cierre de esta edición 28 de febrero los equipos recién finalizaban la etapa 4 en Auckland, NZL, para luego tomar su quinta etapa y teniendo como destino final Guthenburg para aprox. el 27 de junio 2015.

ABORDO, 20 AÑOS SURCANDO MARES…
Manuel Santana Rivas: -“Hace 20 años era mi pasión ahora es más que eso”.
P
erseverancia, pasión y optimismo han sido la clave para que Manuel Santana, fundador de la revista Abordo, especializada en deportes acuáticos y náutica en República Dominicana y todo el Caribe, hoy pueda celebrar su 20 aniversario. Su ideal de vida fue el siguiente: “convertir su pasión por el mundo náutico en su trabajo y en el modo de sustento de toda su familia”. Así es como Alma Taveras, su esposa y editora en jefe de la revista., Jeam Karlo Santana, su hijo mayor., y el pequeño Saúl están involucrados día a día para llevar al mercado nacional y extranjero una revista de calidad, tanto en contenido como en estética. Mirar atrás, tal y como él mismo lo cuenta, es motivo de satisfacción y orgullo. Los cambios que ha sufrido la marca son muchos pero han llevado a que cada día su target disfrute de ediciones mejor logradas. “La evolución que ha tenido la revista es grande y notoria. Siempre ando en busca de mejorarla. Comencé en el año 94, cuando era empleado del Banco Central. Le conté a unos amigos del mundo náutico mi idea de comenzar un proyecto que recogiera los grandes torneos del mundo náutico del país, ya que en ese momento no existía ningún boletín que informara sobre los distintos eventos de deportes acuáticos y muchas veces se efectuaban el mismo día. Es así como juntos decidimos publicar Del mar, somos, que más tarde se llamó “Nautilus’ ”, cuenta Santana. “Del Mar Somos”, era publicada a blanco y negro, en papel bond y la portada a color y en satinado. Las primeras publicaciones distan mucho de lo que podemos observar hoy día. Sin embargo, eso no impidió que con

esfuerzo y trabajo, Manuel Santana, viera su sueño hecho realidad en 32 páginas impresas. “Recuerdo que la primera personalidad que tuve en portada a color fue a Armandito D’ Alessandro”, nos comenta. “A él le habían hecho una entrevista en Oh Magazine! En ese entonces la editora era Tania Báez y yo me le acerqué y le pedí las fotos que no había usado y me dijo que fuera donde el fotógrafo Michelle Munier y él me las pasó. De ahí saqué mi primera portada a color. Después de ese momento han pasado muchas personalidades importantes del mundo náutico ya como ABORDO, entre ellos, Eduardo Cordero, campeón de un mundial de Sunfish en el 1996, Sarah Villanueva, Los Read, Noemí Penzo, Luis José Asilis, Agie Vicente, Pedro Martínez, Diolka D’ Alessandro, Andrés Santana, Jesus Feris, José A. Najri, Luis Viyella, Ignacio Cruz, Yeyo Ochoa, Raúl Aguayo, entre otros”. Al cuestionarlo sobre cómo comenzó a llamarse Abordo, Manuel responde: “ Ya trabajando mi revista totalmente independiente, pensé que sería conveniente darle un giro en todo el sentido de la palabra y por supuesto decidí comenzar con el nombre, buscando una palabra relacionada al ámbito; y teniendo en cuenta que cuando llegas a una enbarcación, te invita a subir y te dicen: “Bienvenido a bordo”, por lo que me pareció que usarlo de nombre iba a ser contagioso; y de eso se trata sentirte ABORDO. A pesar de todos los vientos y mareas, a los que seguro Manuel Santana está bien acostumbrado, la nave a sus 20 años, sigue firme. Y es que ya no es sólo Manuel quien capitanea el barco sino que su esposa Alma Taveras se ha dedicado en cuerpo y alma a este proyecto, y que se ha convertido en la filosofía de vida de toda la familia.
La revista sale mensualmente y de pocas ediciones impresas iniciales hoy contamos 25 mil ejemplares, de las cuales 12 mil se distribuyen en toda la República Dominicana y los demás van al extranjero: Puerto Rico, Colombia, Saint Thomas, Panamá, a los diferentes países donde se encuentran las oficinas de Promoción Turística de la R.D., es donde llega la revista, que pretende en los próximos años llegar a otros mares.
“Alma y yo queremos sacar diversos derivados de Abordo. Queremos publicar una revista de más lujo, una especializada únicamente en pesca y una en vela, una de inversión extranjera en el país y el Caribe, una de leyes, una social que incluya eventos internacionales, una de deporte extremos, de paisajismo y de decoración. También tenemos un proyecto que se llamará “Abordo News” que va a circular en los torneos de pesca y eventos de gran trascendencia local e internacional”, comenta.
SECCIONES DE ABORDO Aunque hablamos de una revista especializada en turismo náutico, Abordo tiene muchas secciones fijas que se han creado a medida de que los mismos lectores y clientes lo piden. Tecnología, novedades de la industria náutica, marinas, artículos de lujo, destinos turísticos, guiando a los niños, fotos sociales y A & B son parte de los temas de los que también se tratan en la revista. Además los nuevos tiempos han llevado a que Abordo tenga presencia en importantes redes sociales y websites de otras revistas internacionales, como es el caso de “Sin papel”, un medio de comunicación digital en Puerto Rico y con “The Yachting Pages”, de Inglaterra, con quienes se realizará un intercambio de ayuda de distribución. Por igual en revista local de RD como RT, Resumen Turístico.
“Además, -prosigue- planeamos para este año, en vez de hacer 12 revistas hacer 14, y hacer una especial en septiembre en formato tabloide de 12 por 18 para los “boats shows” que va a circular hasta finales de marzo y va a cubrir diferentes torneos y ferias náuticas internacionales”.y otra de las diferentes temporadas de pesca y regatas del pais y latinoamerica. La familia Santana Taveras, al sol de hoy, ha emprendido juntos otros proyectos que van de la mano con Abordo, como es el caso de World Tourns Planner Box (WT), una empresa organizadora de eventos y torneos náuticos que dirige Alma así como asociada a una empresa de Chárter de Pesca y una imprenta en la que Jeam Karlo el hijo mayor está al frente.
Entonces, a sus 20 años, ¿qué le falta a Abordo? “Creo que lo que necesitamos ahora es formalizar la revista, y hacer de nuestra marca familiar un medio menos cerrado”, indica Santana. POCO DESARROLLO DEL TURISMO NÁUTICO EN RD.Santana confiesa que no ha sido fácil tener una revista especializada en náutica en el país y además lamenta el poco desarrollo que ha tenido la náutica en relación a otros países en donde este tipo de turismo es incluso más escaso. “El turismo náutico en nuestro país está en pañales porque nuestras autoridades no le han dado el peso y el apoyo que se requiere. Al parecer se desconoce que un turista náutico que viene, por ejemplo a Cap Cana, representa en ingresos económicos como dos o tres mil turistas de resorts, porque vienen en sus botes, consumen combustible, se hospedan en hoteles, van de compras y restaurantes, requieren mano de obra, pagan luz, agua, cable e invierten en el destino, por lo que dinamiza enormemente la economía en todos los sectores”, expresó.

Para el fundador y consultor de negocios y nuevos mercados de Abordo, en el país hace falta una legislación que apoye y defina las reglas de la industria náutica. “Colombia que no recibe ni el cinco por ciento de turistas náuticos tienen su libro de turismo en esta área y aquí que recibimos como 200 botes al año repartidos entre Casa de Campo, Cap Cana y Ocean World, Puerto Bahia y Zarpar no se tiene conciencia de la importancia”. W
ayne has been into the sport fishing for years, because his father Bob Bisbee was the founder and precursor of the largest and most important fishing tournaments, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin which launches from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and today the world’s richest marlin fishing competition.
fact of running a big tourny, receiving people from all over the world, not only buy nice prizes and prepare an extensive program of social activities; behind Wayne there are a spirit of solidarity and charity , which through his tournaments and with other friends have done great things for vulnerable humans and people. That is why today is a fan of conservation and wildlife.
As his father was running these tournaments was taking their children with him for fishing and help in the event logistics until the moment handed them, over to Wayne and his sister Trisha Bisbee the all direction of tournaments, that was already famous but in their hands, with more technology, modern knowledge and marketing tools it just got bigger and bigger.
Last august, Bisbee announced Bisbee’s Fish & Wildlife Conservation Fund. Its purpose is to assure the future of endangered fish, wildlife and associated habitat through science, education and technology. In Texas, the conservation fund works with the Morani River Ranch, home to one of the world’s largest collections of exotic and endangered animals. Globally, the fund is working to create the South African Nkwe Tactical Training Academy, a training base for local field rangers who battle rhino poachers. Two other projects are designed to help the world’s pelagic fish species.
It has been a years of great satisfaction to have followed the footsteps of his father and today are given each other a big hug for to being this dreams together. But wayne is not the merely

AM: HOW DID THE BISBEE FAMILY GET INTO BIG GAME FISHING GENERALLY AND THE TOURNAMENT BUSINESS SPECIFICALLY? My father has had a boat fuel dock and tackle store in Newport Beach, California since the 1970s. The dock and store were the last U.S. travel prep shops for american boaters who wintered in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The tournament was initially created as a marketing vehicle for these businesses and has since grown to the highest payout tournament in the world. AM: HOW DID THE TOURNAMENT HEADQUARTERS WIND UP IN PLANO? I grew up in southern California and moved to Plano 11 years ago. I have known tons of Texans for many years and always loved their attitudes. Economics played a big part in our move. An airport hub in the middle of the country was a plus and this area has some of the highest rated schools in the country.
There’s no doubt we have an ambitious agenda. “But we have no other choice. Without our help, the numbers of rhinos, billfish and other threatened marine and terrestrial animals will continue to decline. Our goal is to do everything we can to reverse that unacceptable trend. I want my kids’ children to be able to see these creatures in the wild some day. Wayne Bisbee was inducted into the Big Game Room Hall of Fame at the Miami Boat Show 2015. Recognized for his outstanding contributions to the sport of big game fishing. Wayne’s long history of conservation spans 35 years and he is currently working with governments and private organizations alike in several countries do develop tourism, sportfishing and other aquatic activities as primary, economically viable industries.
AM: HOW MANY TOURNAMENTS DO YOU HOST EACH YEAR? We operate three tournaments per year. All are in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. Two are lower entry fee, multi-species tournaments. They’re kind of feeder tournaments for our main event, the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Tournament held in october with about $3 million in prizes. AM: WHAT’S THE BIGGEST PAYOUT FOR A BISBEE’S BLACK & BLUE? Our record was set in 2006 when we paid a total of $4,165,980. The winning team got $3,902,997.50. AM: HOW MANY COUNTRIES HAVE BEEN REPRESENTED IN THE BISBEE’S BLACK & BLUE? We have about 15 to 20 countries each year. Up to 10 percent of our field has been comprised of Japanese and former [Soviet Union] countries such as Ukraine, Georgia and Russia. This is an exciting development because teams from far away countries really bring fun dimensions to the events and we can share different culture. AM: IT SEEMS LIKE A FAMILY BUSINESS. HOW MANY FAMILY MEMBERS ARE INVOLVED? We’ve got three generations involved now. My father is retired, but I still call upon him for his wisdom. My sister, Trisha, works with me on a fulltime basis. We have a cousin in Kansas City who helps us regularly. We also have my two kids and Trisha’s two kids helping at the tournaments. It’s very much a family business and we hope go for ever. AM: RECENTLY YOU LAUCHING THE BISBEE’S FISH & WILDLIFE CONSERVATION FUND WHAT IS THE MISSION? Is to conserve big-game fish and animals on a global front. This nonprofit group’s initial projects will focus on Pacific and Atlantic billfish stocks, as well as endangered African rhinoceros. I’m very excited about what lies ahead. There is certainly a lot of work to be done to ensure the long-term survival of these incredible animals. But I’m confident our projects really will make a difference. Under its Texas organizational charter, the Bisbee’s Fund will be allowed to engage in animal causes including education, preventing animal extinction, conserving and managing threatened species, both biologically and socio-economically. nvictus was born from a challenge: to offer a new reference point for pleasure boat-building yards to the world yachting market. Invictus features several diferent lines, among which the GT, FX and TT models, all conceived and built according to the qualities that have made Italian pleasure-boat shipyards the most appreciated in the world: esthetics, dependability, fexibility and a long lifespan. Thanks to the collaboration with the famous Christian Grande Design Works office, Invictus has incorporated a remarkable technology component and a careful attention to details into the design. These elements give us a clear conception of the yacht: elegant and comfortable, state of the art equipment and attentive detailing, able to deal with every type of use and sea state. Invictus Yacht presents the 280GT model.It reverse bow appears both sharp and massive at the same time, merging into the sides of the hull without frippery and crafted ad hoc using uniform transitions between full and empty shapes, while the cabin windows and the air intakes for the engines are shaped like simple lines that emphasize the monolithic characters that Christian Grande desired. The choice of this particular

bow structure also allows for a longer waterline length for increased lengthwise stability, and regarding interior space, allows for a substantial increase in below-deck livability. Yachting gives an emotional sensation, even with a limited size, thanks to the careful balance of form and with equipment that characterize solidity, spaciousness and comfort. Everything that one would have expected to find when aboard a large yacht is now at hand with the Invictus, with a singular and innovative design. When aboard the 280GT we find an ample stern bathing platform, with the engine housing covered with a sunbathing cushion that enlarges by rotating the rear backrest. The central zone hosts a comfortable L-shaped settee that faces the steering area, the latter with a solid double ergonomic seat and a midships position equipped with a galley module, complete with a refrigerator and lockers. The bridge, which also includes access to the interior, is protected by a wide sweep-around windscreen and equipped with the latest digital instrumentation, and includes a video monitor and a very useful inclinometer. The bow zone, suited for sunbathing, is quite large and designed for total ease of use and covers the
forward portion of the ample cabin, which is almost a small suite. The Invictus 280GT is 8,90 meters long, with a beam of 2,84 meters, and comes equipped with a Volvo 5.7 V8 sterndrive (max 320hp/240kw), capable of providing a top speed of 38 knots. The 280GT can carry up to eight passengers and comes with a large cabin and separate bath and external galley module, with all the extras. At present four color schemes are available: the delicate “Vanilla Sea”, themore aggressive “Attack Grey”, the elegant “Dark Wood”, and the classic “Personal White”. The 280GT, like all the vessels of this series, can be customized both with accessories and equipment.

l experto sudafricano en rescates marinos capitán Nicholas Sloane quien trabaja para el consorcio italoamericano TitanMicoperi y quien dirigió los trabajos de reflotar y mover el Costa Concordia, embarcación italiana que a las 21:42 horas del día 13 de enero de 2012 naufragó frente a la isla italiana de Giglio, en la región italiana de Toscana en el mar Mediterráneo, una maniobra arriesgada del capitán Francesco Schettino, que se aproximó en exceso a la isla, provocó que la nave chocara contra unas rocas y abriera una gigantesca vía de agua de 70m de longitud a lo largo del casco, que lo llevó a quedar fuertemente escorado, estuvo de visita en la Isla de Puerto Rico y compartió sus experiencias en el marco de la Convención del Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores que se celebró desde el pasado 7 al 10 de agosto en el hotel Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort, en Río Grande. “Este está catalogado como el más grande, complejo y costoso proyecto de rescate de la historia debido a las dimensiones y el peso del Costa Concordia, embarcación de 300 metros de eslora con capacidad para más de 4,000 pasajeros, y un peso aproximado de 114,500 toneladas”, apuntó Sloane, momentos antes de dar su charla magistral ante un auditorio lleno. La técnica utilizada para enderezar la embarcación conocida como Parbuckling nunca había sido utilizada en un rescate marino. Desde que naufragó el barco pasó más de 600 días parcialmente sumergido. La embarcación estaba 65% sumergida de babor por lo que era necesario enderezarla primero para después poder flotar la misma. El parbuckling consistió que con cables de acero y cadenas halar la embarcación sobre una base de acero construída debajo de la embarcación, luego en inyectar aire en unos 30 cajones que rodearon el barco para sacarlo

a flote. Este proceso tomo 19 horas y fue completado en septiembre de 2013.
En la tragedia hubo 32 muertos, 4197 evacuados y otras tres personas fallecieron durante el proceso de sacar el crucero. Uno de ellos fue el experto submarinista español, Israel Franco Moreno, que falleció desangrado cuando una de sus piernas quedó atrapada entre las placas de metal de la nave. Todos los cuerpos fueron encontrados menos el de Russel Robello de 33 años quien laboraba como mesero en el crucero. El último viaje del Costa Concordia, culminó el pasado 27 de julio cuando atracó en las costas de Génova luego de un viaje de cinco días desde el lugar del naufragio. En el puerto de esa ciudad será desmantelado, el 80% del mismo será reusado esto incluyendo el cobre, plástico y aluminio. El resto del caparason de metal será cortado y fundido para ser reciclado.
El Costa Concordia fue un barco crucero de la clase Concordia propiedad de Costa Cruceros, construido en 2004 por Fincantieri en Sestri Ponente, Génova, Italia. El nombre de «Concordia» promovía el deseo de continuar la armonía, unidad y paz entre las naciones europeas. El Costa Concordia entró en servicio en julio de 2006 y fue el barco más grande construido en Italia. El día de su botadura la botella de champán no se rompió y la tradición naval considera esto de mala suerte.

W
alking through the 27th annual Yacht & Brokerage Show in Miami Beach, by all Collins Avenue immerse yourself in new experiences that causing stay and do not stop. The show was a good experience as always, with plenty of foot traffic. Thousands of people from around the world including me enjoyed this spectacular display of boats and marine products, including more than 500 new and brokerage yachts and a wide array of the latest marine technology and accessories. In addition to breathtaking displays, the show also offered floating cocktail lounges where we rested for a while and drank some beers with foods in a musical environment talking about what we had seen. Overall I think the show attendance and the total number of boats on display were up over 2014, because there was more yachts on display in the 105-foot to 150-foot segment.

Many exhibitors reported significant sales and expect to close additional contracts in the following weeks. Talking with Mr. Zimbalist III Cairman & CEO of MIBS, he said that as an industry, they believe that they will continue to see a rise in attendance and new exhibitor displays as the economy continues to improve, and luxury condominium projects with marinas are developed and pre-sold in South Florida. Sample of this demand was that they had to add another location for 2016. In a press note that send Pierson Grant the Public Relations Show’s Agency to Abordo said that another strong indicator of a successful show was notable gains in related hotel room nights that increase of more than 22 percent this year. We see an impressive new boat launched and debut also great party and cocktails during the five days.

OFL FISHING LEAGUE INTRODUCE THE FIRST ANGLER’S TEAM .The Offshore Fishing League (OFL) introduce the first anglers and captain fishing team signed up.

ast february at the Yacht and Brokerage Show the OFL presented to the media and guests the first team sign up to the fishing league. The OFL is the world’s first professional big-game sportfishing competition. Marlin Raptor a 54 VIKING 2008 is the first team with Hunter Eastophe as a Captain and Victor Benarroch, Moises Roman and David Salazar as an anglers. Other teams are already sign up to OFL: Team Amore from Colombia, K-3 Team 64-Ft Spencer, Spencer Yachts Team and Stella Maris Venezuelan Team. Abordo conduct an interview with Moises Roman Marlin Raptor owner’s team and Hunter Eastophe, the captain. AM- What was the reason you decided to belong a Fishing League? As a fishing enthusiasts, profesional anglers and longlife into this world, we already knowed the idea of this first competitive fishing league we will be interesting, so i ask some friends to compite together and now the team is settle up. AM-How many members make up the team? Three anglers, a captain and two deckhands. AM-How many team currently form the league? The league accepts up to 30 teams and now we have 6, and is expected during the boat show additional 4 signed. AM-When and where start the first tournament of the championship? The first valid of the championship begins next June 19th in Abacos, Baha-

mas, then we going to fish a series of tournaments in Bermudas, then to Ocean City in Maryland, then we will go to Dominican Republic, then to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, BVI, then come back to DR and ended in January 2016 at Isla Mujeres, Mexico with two tournaments. AM- What is the attractive to belong to this league? Who is the best golfer? Who is the best car racer? Who is the best baseball player? What is the best tennis player? Who is the best angler? We don’t kno; from now the world we will have a champion on sport fishing. Is compete among professionals, is to know new fishing techniques, is to be recognized as the best angler among many other benefits including economics and social. Likewise, each boat will have a NBC camera to film our actions and other fishing enthusiasts could see this great sport. AM-What would be the revenues of you as belong a team? We receive money from team owner as in the big league, and the team get money through advertising and promotion among others incomes. AM-The team’s owner could be an angler too? Yes of course, in my case I’m the owner and I’m a angler too. AM-Who wins the championship? There are 10 valid or tournaments in 10 different locations, but only count 7 of those 10. AM-What kind of species classified in
the league? All billfish species, and we have to release all of them; and there are points for Tuna. The OFL is ready for primetime: tough battles on the high seas, adrenaline-pumping action and huge blue marlin pulled from the depths, all set in the sport’s finest destinations. At the end of each season, one team will be crowned the Offshore Fishing League World Champion.” The intense competition, held in 14 of the world’s best fishing locations, will be telecast on NBCSN starting Summer 2015 and offers fans a front row seat to the excitement of every hook, line and sinker in big-game sport fishing. Unique angling rules will encourage the use of lighter line classes to increase point value resulting in accurate, realworld skill demonstration by the captains and anglers. And with an average boat length of more than 60 feet, the OFL fleet will be an impressive sight as they fish a tournament circuit that encompasses over 5,000 nautical miles throughout the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea. In addition, the OFL will launch a new benchmark for boat performance and put each team’s boats to the test. With a strong commitment to marine conservation, the Offshore Fishing League will feature a 100-percent catch and release format. A portion of the League’s proceeds will support the IGFA and The Billfish Foundation to help ensure a bright future for sport fishing and all billfish species.

PRESTIGE FLY 500 Pedigree & Technology.The Prestige line is 20 years old, and more than 2,500 yachts from 35 to 75 feet have been built. The Prestige 500 comes in two models, the Sport and the Flybridge. It’s expected that 80 percent of the models sold will be the Fly version, which is attributed to Prestige Engineering but definitely shows the lines of Michael Peters. The hard-chine hull was designed from scratch to accommodate Volvo Penta IPS pod drives. The IPS system revolutionized propulsion a few years ago with rudderless forward-facing props. On Board.Stepped onto the 3-foot-deep, teak-covered swim platform and discovered the optional retractable passerelle. Steps to both port and starboard lead from here up to the aft cockpit, which has a settee integrated into the transom that may be converted into a sunpad with the drop-down table and filler cushion. Here’s where the Fly and the Sport versions differ. On the Sport, the entire settee raises to expose access to a garage that will hold a 10-foot dinghy with the outboard attached. The Fly model has an optional crew cabin below the settee. It has a roomy berth and its own head. Party Central.Steps on the port side of the cockpit lead up to a large flybridge. The helm with full controls and navigation electronics is to port. Visibility is good all the way to the bow, so you can see whoever is helping with anchoring or catching a mooring. An enormous sunpad is next to the driver to starboard and will likely be a favorite hangout for many. An optional second galley behind the helm seat includes a sink, a refrigerator and an electric grill. It’s easy to get around the boat quickly. Considering the aft cockpit, the flybridge and bow sunpad, there are at least three exterior areas that create separate conversation nooks and give the feeling of space to all aboard. The interior shared social area is nicely tied together to form a great room of sorts. The aft galley has composite countertops (unfortunately without fiddles), plenty of storage overhead and below, and an entertaining island that adds additional storage but also can be a place to set hors d’oeuvres and drinks. A standup refrigerator/freezer combo is hidden, and the oven is at knee level below the induction stovetop. A dishwasher is optional. The salon is one step up, which provides a near 360-degree view even if you’re seated. Five to six people can be seated. Creature Comforts.There are some truly striking elements to the Prestige 500 Fly accommodations. First is that this 50-footer feels like a 60-footer inside. Every inch

both forward/aft and across the beam has been incorporated into a functional interior layout that just works. Second is the amount of light that comes in from the full-panel windows, which include separate sections along the sides that open electrically. And third is the way each onboard space integrates with the others for a finely tuned flow. The master stateroom in the three-cabin, two-head layout has completely isolated access. Steps across from the galley lead down behind the starboard-side settee to a luxurious, full-beam master with a centerline queen bed and a port-side lounge that includes two seats and a vanity table next to a large window. Underway.The boat took the turns gracefully, because the IPS system will not allow an out-of-control turn, and the wheel was well behaved. We topped out at 3550 rpm and 28.2 knots of speed. Downwind we did a little better. Depending on the desired cruising speed, say between 16 and 20 knots, the range will be between 250 and 300 nautical miles with 340 gallons of fuel. Everything about the ride was calm and quiet.

nrique Ramírez Paniagua, administrador general del Banco de Reservas (Banreservas), dijo en el tradicional Almuerzo del Grupo de Comunicaciones Corripio, que la entidad bancaria está incursionando en nuevos nichos de mercado en los que resalta el sector turístico y en el cual ya se encuentran participando con el financiamiento de nuevos proyectos hoteleros y turísticos del país.
En ese sentido, Bareservas ya cuenta con sucursales en los principales polos turísticos del país y recientemente participó en el Discover Market Place, su primera feria relacionada con el sector, realizada en Puerto Plata y donde dió a conocer la creación de la nueva unidad especial dedicada al sector, así como los programas de financiamiento a proyectos turísticos y un personal profesional capacitado en el área.
PROYECTO PLAYA CORBANITOS EN BANÍ, REPÚBLICA DOMINICANA COMPRENDE HOTELES Y UNA MARINA DEPORTIVA. para la Semana Santa del 2015, después que se hayan completado los estudios de suelo y levantamiento topográfico y se hayan realizado el diseño de edificaciones, vías internas, plantas de tratamiento, redes de electricidad, muelles e incluyendo los bloques de apartamentos para los residentes; así como dos hoteles de 350 habitaciones cada uno junto a su campo de golf y las facilidades auxiliares que demanda un complejo de tal magnitud. Este proyecto de mar, sol y arena se encuentra en la provincia Peravia, en el extremo suroeste de la bahía de Ocoa y a la entrada de la pequeña y bien protegida bahía de Las Calderas.
Se trata de un proyecto de 15 millones de metros cuadrados, para el cual Rainieri se ha unido a dos socios: las familias Rizek y Selman.

VELAS DE RD Y PR SE HACEN SENTIR EN LOS JUEGOS CENTROAMERICANOS VERACRUZ 2014.
La competencia de vela se desarrolló en la Marina Veramar, de Playa Gaviotas del 23 al 29 de noviembre.
L
a ciudad de Veracruz, en México fue la escenario escogido, en esta ocasión, para llevar a cabo los juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe en su versión número XXII, en la cual distintos atletas de la toda la región compitieron en 36 deportes de entre los cuales 12 disciplinas fueron clasificatorias para los Juegos Panamericanos Toronto 2015.
Del 14 al 30 de noviembre más de 5 mil atletas se dieron cita para participar y demostrar sus destrezas y habilidades deportivas, y a la vez para representar sus países. La República Dominicana y Puerto Rico no fueron la excepción. Las 20 medallas de oro ganadas por RD y las 15 por los competidores de PR, desde la creación de los juegos en 1924 por la iniciativa de la Sociedad Olímpica Mexicana han colocado a ambos países en el top de países Centroamericanos y del Caribe con más medallas en esta competición. Entre las tantas disciplinas olímpicas en la que los deportistas Centroamericanos y del Caribe se debaten, las velas, es de las más esperadas. Este deporte acuático de competencia individual o colectiva, en la cual se compiten distintas embarcaciones, propulsadas con el viento estuvo antes y durante la actividad en la mira de miles de espectadores

amantes a la náutica, y en sentido específico a las regatas. De parte de la delegación dominicana que viajó a México a representar a la República Dominicana en las velas estuvo Guillermo Flaquer, quien desde antes del evento había manifestado sus intenciones de escalar en un mejor lugar que como lo hizo en el 2010, el dominicano Raúl Aguayo, en los Juegos Centroamericanos y del Caribe de Mayaguez, quien ganó medalla de plata en la modalidad Láser Stándard Masculino. Sin embargo Flaquer, no salió victorioso. De igual modo, Andrea González del Rey, tuvo en sus manos traer la medalla del sunfish al país. Sin lograr grandes resultados. Lo mismo sucedió con la velerista de 16 años, Victoria Celeste Lugtmeijer. Por el lado de Puerto Rico, Enrique Figueroa, mejor conocido como ‘Kike’, se coronó como vencedor por sexta ocasión en los recientes juegos Veracruz 2014 en la categoría Hobie 16. Esta medalla de oro probablemente sería la última para el deportista que confesó que se retira de este tipo de actividades. Sin lugar a dudas, tanto dominicanos como puertorriqueños, con mayores o menores resultados, han tratado de dar lo mejor de sí, lo que pronostica una buena participación en las competiciones que están por venir.

In fact, depending on where you fish and what you fish for it’s almost impossible to limit ourselves to just four picks. There are, however, a few classic reels that stand out from the crowd. Here are four top picks, for the best conventional reel ever made. The Shimano Tiagra, Penn Senator, Alutecnos Albacore Veloce Single Speed, and Shakespeare EZ Cast all deserve their place among the best conventional reels on the market today. Shimano is well known in all segments of the fishing world, from freshwater bass anglers to saltwater inshore specialists, to blue-water big game fans. And while this company’s offerings please all of the aforementioned anglers, their Tiagra series has become the gold standard for large offshore trolling reels. These reels range in size from the 12-pound class clear up to the 130-pound class, are some of the most reliable lever-drag reels in the world, and can do battle with the largest fish in the ocean. They’re also heavy, expensive, and have relatively low gear ratios. But when push comes to shove and there’s a 1,000 pound blue marlin on the end of the line, the Tiagra what you want to be cranking.

Penn Reels has a number of classics, but the Senator tops them all. This line of conventional reels is simple, inexpensive, and bulletproof. In fact, if you have one buyed many years ago it still work perfectly well. Don’t expect any fancy level-winders, magnetic brakes, or fast gearing—Senators are reels for the minimalist—but do expect to get your money’s worth, and then some. Alutecnos Reels is the best one for every one. It worked exactly as promoted. User friendly to the point that I did not will need to study any guidance to operate. Checked the distances with other products and would seem to be to be very appropriate. The Albacore Veloce 20 certainly is a worthy descendant. Shakespeare has a conventional reel that also belongs in this mix, even though it’s dirt-cheap and less than graceful: the EZ Cast. This low profile reel goes for $40, and if you’re a hard-core angler you wouldn’t want to use it for long. So, why the heck does it make this list? Simple—try as you might, it’s virtually impossible to get an EZ Cast to backlash. That makes it ideal for kids and first-timers, who may have their initial fishing experience ruined by bird’s nests and tangles. Keep one in your stock, for those newbies. Most fishermen begin their career using spinning reels or stardrag conventional reels, then graduate to lever-drag, two-speed machines when chasing billfish offshore. Simply put, leverdrag reels are more efficient than any other when battling big fish. With a lever drag, the angler can preset and mark the drag to know exactly how much heat he’s putting on the fish and how far he can go before risking a break-off.

l pasado 16 al 18 de Enero, se presentó el evento 2nd Legend Surf Classic en la playa Domes Rincón donde se reunieron surfers legendario de la edad dorada para competir en varias categorías.
Nat Young (Super estrella del surfing de Australia). Fue una bendición tener en el evento, al surfer mayor de la isla borinqueña, Benji Jorge, de 78 años y su nieto, Gamma Jorge, que gano primer lugar en Grand Master Shortboard.
Tuvieron como invitado especial a varios pioneros del surfing mundial e internacional como los del este de Estados Unidos (Florida, New Jersey y North Carolina) e igual como los del oeste (California y Hawaii), de Australia, asi como la presencia de Fred Hemming (primer lugar en las competencias mundiales del 68 en Rincón, Puerto Rico, nativo de Hawaii) y
Un gran público de la isla y de USA se dió cita apoyando todas las incidencias del evento. La actividad fue increíble con muchos surfers y futuras legendas; demostrando sus habilidades en este deporte que tanto le apasionan; hubo competidores desde 20 años en adelanten, pero el evento se concentró en las categorías para mayores.

La atmósfera del evento fue en un ambiente familiar surfer, recodando historia y cuentos de sus experiencia de hace 40 anos atrás, mas encontrando amistades de esa época. Es la única competencia enfocada para los de la edad dorada y por eso han sido mundialmente reconocidas por revistas de surfing y medios de comunicación. Gracias a la buena planificación y suerte el evento fue un éxito teniendo oleaje de 3 a 4 pies en los dos días. El sábado en la noche se hizo un “Gala Surfer Dinner and Auction” en la nueva área al lado de la playa del Parador Villa Antonio. Muchos enseñando sus tela Hawaiiana, mas viendo el documental de las competencias mundiales de surfing del 68 y también el documental del 1er Legend Surf Classic. Los invitados se aprovecharon de la cena para tomarse fotos con las legendas y pedir sus autógrafos en el “poster” oficial del evento. Dando conclusión al evento del domingo en la noche en las facilidades del Restaurante y Pub “Calipso” con la entrega de premios. SD COUNTRY CLUB Se alza en victoria en la Copa de Tenis Puerto Bahía.
S
amaná, Febrero 23, 2015. El triunfo inminente de la Primera Copa de Tenis Puerto Bahía Tennis Cup 2015, realizada por los ejecutivos de Puerto Bahía Marina & Residences, lo obtuvo el Santo Domingo Country Club tras competir con el equipo del Santo Domingo Tenis Club (La Bocha), del 20 al 22 del mes de febrero en las instalaciones del Club de Tenis de este maravilloso proyecto ubicado en Samaná. Los integrantes de los equipos de La Bocha fueron derrotados rotundamente en 3 de las 4 categorías en juego C1, C2 y Femenino. En la categoría B, ninguno de los equipos fue premiado debido a que el tiempo no fue suficiente para culminar con el reñido juego entre los equipos participantes de cada club. En la categoría C1, los ganadores fueron Teo Vargas, José De Moya, Pedro Bonilla y Fernando Salcedo, mientras que en la categoría C2 obtuvieron la victoria Óscar Torres, Pedro Elmudesí, Willy Lithgow y José Tomás Contreras, quien además fungió como Director General del Torneo. En la categoría Femenina, una de las más esperada de todo el torneo, fueron premiadas, Miguelina Vásquez y Rebeca Elmudesí quienes se enfrentaron a Ana María Vela y Mayra Espinal. Todos los ganadores recibieron regalos y medallas por parte del evento y el domingo 22 disfrutaron de un paseo para Cayo Levantado. Durante el torneo, Alma Taveras de WT Planner Box y organizadora de la actividad junto a Manuel Bancalari, director de Puerto Bahía Marina, agradecieron la asistencia al evento e invitaron a los presentes a que disfrutaran de la agenda social pautada. De igual modo, manifestaron que para el próximo año, volverá a realizarse la Copa de Tenis por el rotunto éxito de esta primera versión y donde el gran público asistente

disfrutó al máximo por lo que se pretende invitar a otros clubes de SD para el 2016. Al finalizar el competitivo y emocionante torneo interclubes 2015, los presentes pudieron disfrutar de una colorida fiesta de música de los años 70 y 80, en donde la creatividad en los disfraces y vestimentas alusivos a la época marcaron el cierre de lo que se convirtió en un excelente fin de semana para los amantes del deporte del tenis. El PBTC contó con el apoyo del Banco de Reservas, el Club Atlético Body Shop, Bancalari y Asociados, Penn International, cerveza Stella Artois, Vinos SA con sus Absolut, Vinos Marquez de Caceres y Agua Perrier, el Banco DBI, Forno Bravo Trattoria, Café Borbone, Ron Macorix, entre otros. GUILLERMO FLAQUER Laserista dominicano gana la Caribbean Laser Midwinter 2015.

ras tres días de competencia, concluyó el Campeonato de Vela Láser del Caribe en la playa de Cabarete evento que organiza cada año Carib Wind Cabarete y Laser Training Center. El destacado y prominente atleta dominicano Guillermo Flaquer de La Romana dominó la competencia de Láser, seguido por Ari Barshi de Cabarete quien obtuvo el Segundo lugar y el Americano Mike Matan en tercero. En la categoría Laser Radial Peter Seideberg de los USA y quien compite cada año fue el primero que a la edad de 75 sigue siendo todavía muy competitivo seguido por Hank Wittenberg de Holanda. En tercero les sigue Jim Johnston de USA. Meka Teshirogi de Japón ganó la categoría femenina y en Segundo lugar Irina Pérez. En el deporte de la vela los navegantes deben estar en forma para luchar con los fuertes vientos y olas de Cabarete, pero al mismo tiempo la experiencia es un factor muy importante. Se necesitan años de práctica para poder aprovechar cada pequeño cambio de viento y ráfagas de viento de ventajas tácticas.
Durante el domingo se recibieron lluvias esporádicas que permitieron solo dos pruebas del cierre del campeonato. La Federación Dominicana de Vela, presidida por María López ejecutó las funciones de Oficial de Regata, asistida por Ena Rosa Henríquez y un equipo de Carib Wind Cabarete. Los vientos del evento fueron moderados oscilando entre 5 y 9 nudos. El Caribbean Laser Midwinter que por 13 años se realiza consecutivamente en Cabarete se ha convertido en el evento deportivo acuático de más relevancia de la isla promueviendo a la Rep. Dom como un importante destino deportivo y turístico, así como la promoción de un sano deporte como la vela olímpica y por último cultivar la camaradería entre navegantes. El circuito olímpico se inicia con esta regata, donde cada año campeones, ex campeones y pretendientes mundialistas se dan cita en Cabarete cada año. omo vivimos en países caribeños eso significa una cosa, el sol brilla a cada momento. Por ello al salir al aire libre, al realizar actividades deportivas y de recreación, y en muchos casos en zonas interiores donde se reflejan los rayos solares es necesario mantener protegida nuestra piel contra los rayos ultravioletas. Es por ello que oímos y leemos muchas recomendaciones de usar y cómo usar protectores y bloqueadores solares para la piel. Muchas son las marcas comerciales que existen en el mercado pero la que mas variedad de productos de protección posee y que se ha convertido en el preferido por muchos es Panama Jack. Sus bloqueadores y filtros solares incluyen un amplio nivel de protección contra los rayos ultravioleta. La variedad de productos consta de cremas, aerosoles, gel, barras y bálsamo para labios. Los filtros solares están disponible en aceite, aerosol y con nivel de protección solar desde 8 a 75. La efectividad de los bloqueadores solares está en la habilidad de prevenir que nuestra piel sea tan vulnerable a las quemaduras, al cáncer de piel y al envejecimiento prematuro. Tipos y presentaciones de Panama Jack. Protectores Solares: Debe utilizarse durante todo el año, incluso cuando este bien protegido con ropa resistentes. Se puede utilizar en la cara, los labios, las orejas y la nariz. Si vas a salir por un largo periodo llévelo consigo y aplique constantemente. aerosoles y cremas de diferentes niveles de SPF (Sun Protector Factor). Todos sus lociones son muy resistentes al agua y sólo necesitan ser aplicados después de largos periodos de exposición al sol. After Sun Burn Relief: Si fue a tomar sol y se olvidó de aplicar algún tipo de protector solar o bloqueador solar Panamá Jack le cuida todavía. El After Sun está hecho para proporcionar un alivio después de mucho sol. La botella de gel azul está hecha de aloe puro, lidocaína, y mentol. Ayudará a evitar que la piel se pele y reseque y puede utilizar el gel para dar alivio a las picaduras de insectos y pequeños cortes en la piel. Lip Balm SPF 45 and Lip Gloss SPF 15 Protector: Los labios son muy sensitivos al sol y el calor, por lo que requieren un cuidado especial. La resequedad, los labios fisurados, erucciones son causas de la continua y abundante exposición del sol. Por lo que usar el Lip Balm debe ser a cada momento. untacana Resort & Club celebró el “Puntacana Kite Fest”, una competencia que reunió a más de 50 kitesurfistas nacionales e internacionales, profesionales y aficionados de este deporte extremo. La competencia que se realizó durante tres días en Playa Blanca, forma parte del programa de actividades de los 45 años de la empresa.

Los ganadores del primer lugar fueron, en la categoría “Womens single Paddle surf de pie” Hope Levin de Turks & Caicos; el dominicano Alex Soto en la categoría “Mens single Paddle surf de pie”; y el campeón Robinson Hilario ganó en las categorías “Mixtos SUP equipo de relevo” Y “Mens Pro Wakeboard Kicker” también dominicano. El evento contó con la participación local de la experimentada Susi Mai y la campeona mundial más joven del mundo, Gisela Pulido. Además de la competencia y la hermosa playa, el público pudo disfrutar de la música en vivo de música de DJ, lecciones de Kite, Voleibol de playa, concurso fotográfico, juegos inflables para los pequeños, y otras actividades para la familia. El cierre musical estuvo a cargo de los DJS neoyorquinos Hannah Bronfman y Brendan Fallis. LA NATACIÓN: “DISCIPLINA DECISIVA EN EL TRIATLÓN DE BARAHONA”
El evento, organizado por MultiSport Club y el Cluster Turístico de Barahona fue celebrado en las modalidades de Triatlón Sprint y Olímpico + 5K.-

a natación fue una de las tres disciplinas, que cientos de atletas de diversas partes de RD y de otros países, tuvieron que agotar en el Triatlón Barahona Extreme realizado en el Malecón de la provincia sureña, como parte del circuito Grand Prix Multisport Club Conoce Tus Playas, además del ciclismo y atletismo. En el deporte acuático, mientras los atletas del grupo distancia olímpica, 1.5 km., dieron 2 vueltas al circuito previsto nadando en sentido opuesto a las manecillas del reloj y sin salida del agua, los de la distancia Sprint 1 vuelta. Al finalizar este tramo los atletas fueron al área de transición ubicada a 20 mts de la salida del nado para continuar con el Ciclismo, realizado en el Malecón; los de la Distancia Olímpica hicieron en bicicleta 40 km y distancia Sprint, 20 km; en Atletismo se corrió por igual en el Malecón en la vía delimitada para los atletas. Los atletas Michel González de Cuba, Yul López selección nacional dominicana y Franklin Peña, tambien dominicano, lideraron la categoría Sub-23- Elite Masculino en la modalidad Olímpico. Mientras que la misma categoría renglón Juvenil ocuparon los tres primeros lugares Kevin Martínez, Javier Puig y Rene Mousiel. La categoría Junior fue liderada por Jou Fernández, Gabriel Domínguez y Adrian Razuk. Otros atletas que resultaron ganadores en la categoría Master A son Franly Reyes, Jhon Susana y Esteban Campos; y en el Master B Alf Trimpin, Mariano Diplan y Alexander Vázquez.
Asimismo, explicó: “la competencia del triatlón y la carrera pedestre se realizaron conforme a las reglas vigentes establecidas por la Federación Dominicana de Triatlón. Mientras que la medición del tiempo en la competencia fue el cronometraje acumulado y los parciales de cada tramo de competencia”.
Para las 7:30 de la mañana los 100 atletas provenientes de Cuba, Puerto Rico, Argentina y República Dominicana entraron al agua para iniciar el recorrido de la competencia. Una hora y 10 minutos después ya se tenían los primeros atletas que cumplieron las tres disciplinas incluidas en el Triatlón. Durante el acto de premiación, Bolívar Díaz, organizador del triatlón, destacó que esta importante competencia se realizó en las cate-

old Coast International Marine Expo has confirmed that more than 50 per cent of its outdoor exhibitor space from 2014 has been sold less than eight weeks since the announcement of new May event dates. EXITOSO CAMPEONATO NACIONAL DE VELA DE RD CUMPLE CON METAS.Boca Chica, Terrenas y Pedernales dominan Campeonato de Vela.

on una participación de 41 veleros, 7 clubes, el Campeonato Nacional 2014 de Vela ha llenado con creces las expectativas esperadas. Hace varios años la Federación de Dominicana de Vela (FDV) emprendió un proyecto de fomentar el deporte de la vela en comunidades de pescadores y turísticas, y en los días 13 y 14 de Diciembre del 2014 se empezaron a cosechar los frutos de esta labor que ha venido creando escuelas de vela en Pedernales, Barahona, Boca Chica, Romana, Terrenas y Luperón, con una participación masiva de jóvenes de todo el territorio nacional en la principal regata anual llevada a cabo en las aguas azul marino y turquesa de Boca Chica, provincia de Santo Domingo. “Vivíamos de espaldas al mar y la juventud no tenia la oportunidad de aprender a navegar. Hoy es diferente”, nos explica Irina Pérez, Presidente de la FDV, quien junto a un gran equipo de voluntarios ha construido escuelas de vela en todo el territorio y espera continuar ampliando estas escuelas en otras ciudades costeras. Ha sido un trabajo que envuelve a las comunidades locales y líderes visionarios de cada localidad, donde se ha contado con el apoyo del MIDEREC, que ha financiado y apoyado el proyecto de masificación del deporte de la vela, así como múltiples patrocinadores de la sociedad civil. En las Terrenas Jan Salin, en Barahona el Cluster Turístico, en La Romana Tami Flaquer, en Pedernales el MIDEREC, en Luperón Nathalie Gendron, y así otros muchos voluntarios son los héroes de este proyecto, los que han permitido a los hijos de pescadores y a la juventud a tener una oportunidad más de crecer abrazados al mar.

Yael Santana de Pedernales, alumno y navegante, nos decía ayer con orgullo de cómo se sentía de representar a su comunidad y poder navegar en las aguas de Boca Chica, dominando su velero y al mar. El deporte de la vela es una opción de crecimiento personal que ensena a los niños a conocer el mar, respetar las reglas de un deporte caballeroso donde los navegantes aprenden a compartir el mar con reglas de juego muy claras, y donde la seguridad y el compañerismo son primordiales en el mar y en la tierra, y es el propio niño quien debe aplicar esos conocimientos en la sociedad que vive, para poder ganar una regata y prepararse para vivir en sociedad. Al final del ciclo educativo en las escuelas de vela, los niños llegan a conocer y respetar el mar, siendo capaces de ser dignos deportistas y futuros ciudadanos responsables. Matilde Alvarez, de 11 años, domina el Campeonato en la categoría Optimist, con puntuación perfecta en cuatro regatas, seguida en segundo lugar por Marcelo Trotier y Alexander Feliz del Club de Vela de Las Terrenas y Pedernales. En la categoría Sunfish, Jan Salin de Las terrenas, quien mantiene una cerrada lucha por el campeonato, perseguida de Paula Varona, del Club náutico de Santo Domingo. Somos una isla rodeada de un bello y limpio mar, que debemos aprovechar y promover las actividades de la vela, para permitirle a la juventud ser parte del crecimiento del turismo, del uso del deporte y la integración de las comunidades costeras. PRESIDENTE DANILO MEDINA DISPONE REHABILITAR PUERTOS CON INTERÉS TURÍSTICO Y COMERCIAL EN LA RD.

ayobanex Escoto Vásquez, director ejecutivo de la Autoridad Portuaria Dominicana informó que bajo la directriz del presidente Danilo Medina se ejecutan los trabajos de urbanización, remoción y rehabilitación de los puertos de Haina Oriental, Occidental, Puerto Plata, San Pedro de Macorís, Boca Chica, Manzanillo y Sabana de la Mar, La Romana, Barahona, Azua y Samaná (Arroyo Barril y Santa Bárbara) Escoto Vásquez, resaltó que existe un gran interés por parte del presidente en el rescate del
puerto de San Pedro de Macorís a fin de dinamizar la vida económica y turística con la llegada de nuevos buques. En ese sentido indicó que “El Presidente nos ha instruido que se limpien todos los puertos y las entradas y vías de acceso a ellos, para que queden hermoseados y que los turistas que visiten La Romana queden complacidos.” Las jornadas de limpieza, embellecimiento y rescate del puerto de San Pedro, se han venido realizando desde noviembre del 2014 con una brigada de trabajadores designada que tienen la responsabilidad
de dar un nuevo rostro a La Romana. Anunció además que se está realizando conversaciones con inversionistas y representantes del sector naviero para gestionar la certificación del puerto local con el objetivo de que buques turísticos realicen sus travesías por San Pedro. Vásquez informó que 128 buques turísticos zarparán en el puerto romanense durante estos meses, razón por la que se trabaja con agilidad para limpiar todo el entorno del puerto y las entradas a esa provincia por disposición del presidente Danilo Medina.
LLEGADA DEL CRUCERO ALEMÁN AIDA LUNA INICIÓ TEMPORADA DE CRUCEROS 2014 - 2015 EN SANTO DOMINGO, R.D.

l crucero alemán Aida Luna llegó al puerto de San Soucí a finales del 2014 para dar inicio a la temporada de cruceros 20142015 en Santo Domingo el cual servirá también como “Homeport” o “Puerto Madre”, para el crucero CroisiËres de France subsidiaria de Pullmantur. Este barco de la empresa Pullmantur es uno de las dos nuevas líneas de cruceros que estarán tocando puerto en la capital dominicana. Crystal Cruise es la otra línea de cruceros que estará atracando en el puerto de Sans Soucí, la misma ha sido reconocida recientemente por la revista Conde Nast Travel con el premio “Midsize Cruise Ship Line.”

Con esta nueva temporada y siendo Homeport de Pullmantur, los residentes en el país podrán disfrutar de la embarcación “Horizon” que estará ofreciendo la ruta Santo Domingo, La Romana, San Martín, Guadalupe, Martinica e Isla Margarita. Jaime Castillo, director ejecutivo de Sans Souci Ports destacó las bondades del turismo de cruceros en Santo Domingo, que a su juicio impactan directamente en la economía de la ciudad por los servicios directos que se desarrollan, la generación de empleos y otras utilidades derivadas. Entre estos beneficios, Castillo citó los impuestos por compras y gastos realizados por los cruceristas, el uso de medios de transporte, consumo productos locales, gastos en tiendas, restauran-
tes y museos, entre otros insumos. “La generación de divisas derivada de esta actividad ronda entre los US$11.4 millones por cada cien mil pasajeros”, recordó Jaime Castillo. Castillo instó a los ciudadanos y las autoridades relacionadas a que apoyen el sector para lograr el éxito que desea la ciudad y el país. E
l estadounidense Victor Mooney que reside en Woodhaven, Queens y a quien ya todos conocemos por cruzar el Atlántico en kayak tiene como filosofía de vida, NUNCA RENDIRSE. Victor en un esfuerzo por realizar un viaje en kayak por todo el Atlántico a favor de la lucha contra el sida, para llamar la atención sobre la necesidad de incrementar la actuación sobre la educación y la prevención del SIDA y en homenaje a sus hermanos que padecen la enfermedad uno de ellos fallecido por la causa es lo que le ha motivado a iniciarse en varios intentos para lograr esta odisea. Tras tres intentos fallidos decide iniciar un cuarto viaje partiendo desde la isla de Gorée frente a Senegal en África occidental el 19 de febrero 2014 y en solitario sobre su kayak de 24 pies bautizado con el nombre de “Spirit of Malabo”, equipado con paneles solares, GPS, equipos de cómputos y navegación, alimentos apropiados y mucho líquidos; navegó con remo a través

del Atlántico para finalmente, de vuelta a la ciudad de Nueva York donde dirige una organización de artes Sudafricana, que es sin fines de lucro; pero muchas cosas ocurrieron.
Victor Mooney se encontró con grandes olas y corrientes turbulentas que dieron embarcaciones cercanas alrededor de él un motivo de preocupación. Mooney dijo que un camión cisterna por radio le preguntaba si estaba bien y si él estaba en su sano juicio, respondiendo: “Yo no necesito un rescate. Quiero una hamburguesa”. Él entonces desarrolló una rutina de despertarse a las 4 am, remando por casi una hora, y luego tomar 30 minutos de descanso y así hasta las 7 de la noche. Por desgracia, las aguas del océano eran bastante peligrosas y a menudo rompían su progreso. Se comió la comida que tenia hasta que se agotó y entonces recurrió a la pesca. El tiempo comenzó a mejorar y Mooney también recibió asistencia de un meteorólogo y oceanógrafo en el camino. Poco después, un tiburón mutilado atacó su barco. Mooney no es la primera persona en completar una caminata en solitario utilizando remos. Fyodor Konyukhov, un sacerdote ruso
y viajero, completó su viaje a través del Pacífico en su bote llamado “Turgoyak” y terminó su destino en la costa australiana. Konyukhov cubrió un total de 9.300 millas náuticas en aproximadamente 200 días. Tras todo este recorrido y tomando la costa de América del Sur, y a través del Caribe cruzando Saint Martín el 26 de junio, Tortola y luegó llega a Puerto Rico. El 8 de septiembre es recibido en el Club Náutico de San Juan donde me encontraba haciendo cobertura del torneo y pudimos compartir estas experiencias de Mooney, que aunque muchos lo catalogan como loco su coraje y su lucha constante por las causas son mas fuertes que estas palabras, y es por ello que ha dictado charlas de superación personal a muchos. Allí bajo todas las atenciones parte unas semanas mas tarde hacia la República Dominicana donde es recibido en Marina Puerto Bahía y luego en Ocean World bajo acogedores recibimientos y atenciones de ayudas en sus necesidades y del barco. Tras partir de las costas dominicanas con dirección a Cuba fue asaltado por piratas haitianos el 31 de octubre, al este de la Isla Tortuga en Haití. Lo despojaron de sus kayak, el cual hundieron y lo abandonaron en pleno mar. Tras un buen tiempo fue rescatado, y no fue hasta diciembre que pudo recuperar su barco de las profundidades y llevado a Miami, Fl.
De acuerdo con la Sociedad Oceánica de Remo con sede en Londres, que rastrea los intentos y ayuda a los remeros a prepararse para la ardua tarea, más de 144 embarcaciones con cuatro o menos remeros han cruzado el Atlántico, Pacífico, Índico y otros océanos. Según el sitio web del grupo, www.oceanrowing.com, casi 100 intentos han fracasado. En mi visita al Miami International Boat Show me encontré con Victor quien tenía destinado un área donde mostró su bote tras los ataques en Haití recaudando dinero y artículos para la reparación de su bote la cual fue acogida por una empresa de Miami. Estas fueron las palabras de Victor cuando nos encontramos: -“NEVER GIVE UP”. Haciendo referencia a que terminaría su recorrido de llegar a Nueva York. Dos filosofías que guían la vida de Victor Mooney son “Siga su corazón”, y “Nuestra mayor debilidad radica en renunciar. La forma más segura de tener éxito es siempre probar sólo una vez más”. Mooney ha estado remando desde que su padre le enseñó cuando era niño. Comenzó circunnavegando Long Island poco después del 11 de septiembre de 2001 para apoyar la investigación del SIDA y en honor a su hermano, que murió de la enfermedad en 1983. www.goreechallenge.com

Quienes gusten del turismo de naturaleza o ecológico hallarán sosiego en cristalinas y tranquilas playas, como Varadero, una de las más visitadas, o las de Cayo Largo del Sur, Cayo Francés, Cayo Guillermo y Cayo Coco. Tien zonas montañosas, bosques y zonas cársicas como el valle de Viñales y la Sierra del Rosario en

En el mundo de las artes plásticas la pintura ocupa un lugar esencial. Nombres como Wifredo Lam, Servando Cabrera, Amelia Peláez, René Portocarrero, Nelson Domínguez, Flora Fong, Roberto Fabelo, Zaida del Río y muchos más han situado a la Isla en un escaño importante. Pero también han ganado terreno la escultura, el grabado, la cerámica, el diseño gráfico y la fotografía. Aquellos que se sientan atraídos por los servicios y avances que en el campo del turismo de salud brinda Cuba, tendrán a su alcance las bondades de clínicas y centros especializados como el de Restauración Neurológica (CIREN) y el de Retinosis Pigmentaria, La Pradera y Cira García; balnearios de aguas termales y medicinales; centros estéticos y de rehabilitación. El turismo de negocios abre sus puertas a aquellos que deseen realizar inversiones en Cuba u operaciones comerciales y financieras, establecimiento de firmas y empresas mixtas o la distribución exclusiva de sus productos. Interesantes programas académicos en universidades y centros de altos estudios, conferencias, posgrados y maestrías, entrenamientos, viajes y recorridos especializados por centros de investigación, enseñanza de idioma, cursos de verano, eventos científicos y pedagógicos y otras especialidades encontrarán quienes se acojan al turismo científico y educacional. Una de las mayores potencialidades que tiene Cuba - más allá de sus bellezas naturales y físicas-, sin lugar a dudas, es el turismo histórico- cultural. parte de la natación y el buceo, que vimos en nuestra edición anterior no. 124, hay un montón de actividades que los niños pueden experimentar de todo lo que el agua les ofrece. Deportes como el surf se han vuelto cada vez más popular entre las familias en los últimos años ofreciendo cursos especialmente adaptados y sesiones sólo para niños. A continuación se presentan algunos detalles de los deportes acuáticos que los niños pueden aprender y disfrutar. Por supuesto, una consideración clave será la natación (la mayoría de los deportes acuáticos requieren a su hijo ser capaces de nadar una distancia de al menos 50 metros). SURFING.Si vas a ir a la playa este verano y apetece probar algo diferente, la mejor oportunidad es el surf? En los últimos años este deporte ha crecido enormemente en popularidad, y en nuestro entorno contamos con muchos centros de entrenamientos en los principa-

Las escuelas aceptan surfistas jóvenes de la edad de 6 hacia arriba, pero otras escuelas, como otras que puede llevar a los niños a partir de 4 años de edad.
La Natación o saber nadar son consideraciones necesarias para practicar los deportes acuáticos, por lo que antes de iniciarse en algunos de estos deportes, saber nadar es una condición para la seguridad. Expertos del surfing sugieren que para
realmente sentir confianza en el surf es necesario tener la enseñanza de una semana mínimo, pero, por supuesto, si solo buscas un rato de diversión y no tiene la intención de llevar el deporte en cualquier capacidad en serio una sesión más corta y llena de diversión será suficiente. Hay cursos disponibles para los adultos? Si te apetece enfrentar tus habilidades contra su hijo hay un montón de cursos disponibles para los surfistas novatos y más crecidos, también. Al igual que con los cursos de los niños, generalmente se puede elegir entre las sesiones de introducción de medio día o cursos más en profundidad que se ejecutan durante varios días o una semana. También puedes encontrar información sobre los eventos de surf si prefieres ser un espectador que hacerlo por ti mismo visita las páginas de las respectivas federaciones de surf de tu país.

Boquerones.El boquerón, bocarte, anchoa europea o aladroque (Engraulis encrasicolus) es un pescado azul de unos 15-20 cm de largo (tamaño adulto), con un alto valor comercial, y es capturado fundamentalmente para alimentación humana. Se capturan con regularidad principalmente en las costas de España, Marruecos, Italia, Francia, Grecia, Turquía, y en menor cantidad en las costas de Bulgaria, Rusia, Georgia y Ucrania. El boquerón es muy apreciado en la cocina por el sabor y suave textura de sus lomos. En España se consumen principalmente de tres formas distintas: fritos en aceite de oliva y previamente rebozados en harina de trigo; macerados en vinagre, sal, ajo,perejil y aceite de oliva; en semiconserva en aceite de oliva previamente desecadas en salazón.
marinados, colocamos los lomos escurridos de los boquerones muy juntos en un recipiente, los cubrimos con una capa de aceite y los congelamos durante 48 horas. Después de descongelarlos, los tendremos listos para aliñar. Para ello, retiramos el aceite que parecerá un gel, picamos muy finos dos dientes de ajo y un manojito de perejil y los mezclamos con 4 cucharadas de aceite de oliva virgen extra y dos cucharadas de vinagre, haciendo una vinagreta.
ño, espolvoreando con más perejil si queremos darle más toque verde al aperitivo. Una vez hechos, los boquerones en vinagre caseros aguantan en buen estado durante una semana aproximadamente si se guardan en la nevera y cubiertos de aceite y preferiblemente en un recipiente o frasco cerrado.
DEGUSTACIÓN Los boquerones en vinagre son la receta perfecta para un aperitivo sencillo. Con una cerveza fría y unos “picos” o unas “regañas” no necesitaremos más para emocionarnos con el mismo resultado que si hubiéramos salido de bares.
Las preparaciones en semiconserva y en vinagre de este pescado son potencialmente peligrosas para la salud, por la posible presencia del parásito anisakis, que no se elimina con el desecado del salazón ni con el marinado en vinagre. Para destruir el parásito (y su efecto pernicioso, la anisakiasis) basta con congelar los lomos antes o después de su preparación durante al menos 24 horas y a una temperatura de –20 °C o inferior.
Colocamos los boquerones en vinagre, disponiéndolos en un plato de forma ordenada y los cubrimos con unas cucharadas del ali-

• 1 KG DE BOQUERONES MEDIANOS, VINAGRE DE VINO, ACEITE DE OLIVA, AJO Y PEREJIL
Tomamos los lomos bien limpios. En caso de no comprarlos limpios, lo que hacemos es tirar de la cabeza y la espina, separando los lomos del pescado sin tripas ni raspas. Con paciencia lo haremos en un ratito. Una vez separados, lavamos cada lomo con agua y lo secamos en un paño, colocándolos uno al lado de otro en un plato hondo. El cocinado de este pescado lo vamos a realizar con los ácidos del vinagre. Podemos utili-

zar vinagre puro para cubrir los boquerones, o si lo preferimos, utilizar una mezcla de un tercio de agua y dos tercios de vinagre. Dejamos los boquerones en esa maceración o marinado durante 45 minutos, que pueden llegar a 3 horas si el marinado lo hacemos con vinagre diluido con agua, hasta que los lomos se vean de color blanco.
