“NO VALORABA LA VIDA, NO VEÍA LO BONITA QUE ES, SOLO ME DEDICABA A SALIR CON MIS AMIGOS, A TRABAJAR Y A VIAJAR. EL DÍA QUE MENOS ESPERÉ LA VIDA ME CAMBIO” CUENTA CAROLINA QUINTANA, FUNDADORA DEL HOGAR GERONTOLÓGICO ALEGRÍA DE VIVIR. Carolina, es Auxiliar de Enfermería y trabajó como Ecónoma Nutricionista durante 3 años. “Cambie mi vida, mi sueldo, mis salidas, mi forma de pensar y todo por darle calidad de vida a las personas de la tercera edad”. En el momento en que menos piensas tu vida dará un giro de 360 grados, las cosas cambiarán un 100% y ya no podrás realizar algunas de las actividades que solías hacer anteriormente. Para muchas personas el mayor temor es llegar a la vejez y tener que cambiar su ritmo de vida por los achaques que genera esta edad.
“Un día estaba camino a mi trabajo, me sentí mal y minutos después perdí el conocimiento, cuando volví a estar consciente me encontraba en el Hospital de la Samaritana, me diagnosticaron insuficiencia renal; Mi vida había cambiado en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, ya no era la misma persona, ahora debía realizarme diálisis a diario, mi alimentación no era igual y mi forma de pensar ya no era la misma…en ese momento lo único que hice fue poner todo en manos de Dios” dice Carolina Quintana. En 2009 Carolina decide extenderle su mano a las personas de la tercera edad y es ahí es donde nace el Hogar Gerontológico Alegría de Vivir, un proyecto que no ha sido fácil para Carolina, quien hace diariamente lo mejor que puede para darle felicidad a los abuelitos que conforman el hogar. Para Alegría de Vivir, es importante que un abuelito tenga alimentación, amor y sobre todo, que pueda pasar el resto de su vida siendo feliz y teniendo calidad de vida. Por esta razón, las personas que trabajan en esta fundación abrieron sus corazones a los abuelitos del barrio Restrepo quienes ahora tienen un techo donde vivir. Cuenta Carolina que a mediados de 2010 llegó al Hogar un joven con $300.000 pesos para dejar a su mamá a cargo de la fundación porque él no podía estar con Elvira durante el día ya que trabajaba y le era imposible estar a cargo de ella. La fundación alojó a Elvira por 3 años, pero durante este tiempo su hijo nunca volvió a aparecer. Para Elvira los días corrían, cada día que pasaba se convertía en un miembro más de la familia yen mayo del 2013 Elvira falleció.
“Este es el entierro más triste, doloroso y sobre todo el más solo que he presenciado en mi vida. Mi hija y yo éramos las únicas personas que acompañábamos a Elvira durante sus últimos pasos en la tierra. Dos meses después que la enterré me encontré con su hijo en el centro y le reclame el porqué no había vuelto a ver a su mamá y sólo respondió diciendo que yo era indigente y que estaba loca; Esto me lo iba diciendo mientras se alejaba de mi y hasta este momento nunca más volví a saber de él. Esta es la razón que día a día me llena de motivos para apoyar a las personas de la tercera edad. No quiero que se sientan desamparadas, solos o que no tengan ni que comer ni donde dormir” Comenta Carolina. Para Teleperformance Colombia es importante apoyar a las poblaciones más vulnerables, es por eso que por medio del Banco de Alimentos apoyamos al Hogar Gerontológico Alegría de Vivir realizando donaciones de 30 kits de aseo con crema dental, shampoo, papel higiénico, entre otros elementos recolectados entre nuestros colaboradores. Así mismo algunos de ellos donaron horas de su tiempo para los abuelitos de esta fundación, dándoles recreación y felicidad. “Somos privilegiados por tener un trabajo y grandes oportunidades, por eso no importa el monto, sino las ganas de ayudar a que otras personas también las tengan. Invito a todos a participar de las iniciativas sociales que apoyamos, las cuales buscan mejorar la calidad de Vida de los involucrados y a contribuir con su felicidad” asegura Claudia Bohórquez, Directora de Employee Experience.

En Año Nuevo, en Dinamarca, durante la Noche Vieja se suelen tirar platos viejos a las puertas de amigos, lo que significa que a cuantos más platos rotos, habrá más gente alrededor tuyo y mucha suerte en el año que se avecina. En Uruguay existe la costumbre de lanzar por la ventana los calendarios del año que se termina, con ello se deja de lado todo lo malo. Además, se echa agua a la calle para arrastrar todo lo negativo.

Una sonrisa es inefable cuando la sonrisa se hace sincera y genera familiaridad… comunicar es el arte de pintar: sueños, diversiones, fantasías, metas, e ilusiones, ya que de letras minúsculas
se pueden generar palabras mayúsculas…así que es el momento d e e m p e z a r a c o nve r t i r l a comunicación en algo habitual y relacionarlo con el entorno real de nuestras vidas, comuniquémonos con nuestras familias, amigos jefes laborales, clientes y hasta con nuestras mascotas. De esta forma veremos que la comunicación es una verdadera obra de arte que aún podemos crear. “I DID NOT VALUE LIFE; I COULD NOT SEE HOW BEAUTIFUL IT WAS; ALL I DID WAS TO GO OUT WITH MY FRIENDS, WORK AND TRAVEL. THE DAY I LEAST EXPECTED IT MY LIFE CHANGEDÎ SAYS CAROLINA QUINTANA, FOUNDER OF THE OLD AGE HOME ALEGRÌA DE VIVIR. Carolina is a Nursing Assistant and she worked as a Nutritionist Aid for 3 years. “I changed my life, my income, my going out, my way of thinking, and all this to provide quality of living to people in the third age”. At the moment you least expect it your life can take a 360 degree turn, things will change 100% and you will not be able to do some of the things you used to. For many, the greatest fear is growing old and having to change your way of life because of all the ailments that come with old age.
“One day I was on my way to work, I felt sick and a few minutes later I passed out; when I woke up I was at Samaritana Hospital, I was diagnosed with renal failure. My life had changed in a blink; I was no longer the same person; now I had to undergo dialysis every day; my diet changed; my way of thinking was no longer the same... at this time all I did was to put myself in the hands of God,” says Carolina Quintana. In 2009 Carolina decided to lend a helping hand to people in the third age, and this was how the old age home AlegrÌa de Vivir was born, a project that has not been easy for Carolina, who every day does the best she can to offer happiness to the old people at the home. For Alegría de Vivir, it is important to provide the senior citizens good food, love, and especially to allow them to spend the rest of their lives being happy with good quality of living. For this reason, the people who work at the foundation have opened their hearts to the senior citizens of the Restrepo neighborhood, who now have a place to live. Carolina tells us that in mid-2010 a young man arrived at the home with $300,000 pesos to leave his mother in the care of the foundation. He said he could not look after her during the day because he was working and it was impossible for him to care for her. The foundation took care of Elvira for 3 years, but during that time her son never showed up again. For Elvira the days passed, and every day she became another member of the family, and in May of 2013 Elvira passed away.
“That was the saddest, most painful funeral, and especially the loneliest one I have seen in my life. My daughter and I were the only two people with her during her last steps on earth. Two months after the funeral I ran into her son downtown and I demanded to know why he had never gone back to see his mother. All he said was that I was a crazy homeless lady. He said this as he was walking away from me, and to this date I have never heard from him again. “This is why every day I have more reasons to help people in the third age. I do not want them to feel unprotected, alone, or with nothing to eat or a place to sleep,” says Carolina. For Teleperformance Colombia it is important to assist the most vulnerable people, and it is for this reason that through the Food Bank we support the old age home Alegría de Vivir, giving them 30 kits containing toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper and other household cleaning items collected from among our team. Some team members also volunteered some of their time for the senior citizens of this foundation to provide them recreation and happiness. “We are privileged because we have a job and great opportunities; this is why the amount does not matter; what matters is your willingness to help other people, so they can also have these things. I invite everyone to participate in the social initiatives we support, which are aimed at improving the quality of life of those involved and to contributing to their happiness,” says Claudia Bohórquez, Director of Employee Experience.
