WORSHIP WITH US SUNDAYS Sunday School 9:30 a.m. Worship Service 10:45 a.m. United Methodist Church website: http://lakesideumcokc.org

I want to begin by saying thank you to Derwin Comer and everyone who helped with Laity Sunday. I understand it was a meaningful worship as some members shared their personal reasons for being a Christian and a part of the Lakeside UMC family. Wow! What a wonderful last Sunday in October. The youth did a great job in leading our worship and giving us more to think about as we ponder our Bible heroes. Trunk or Treat was another huge success. We had at least 17 trunks decorated and giving out candy. We had a very large number of families from the neighborhood and beyond come and experience the love of God through the people of Lakeside UMC. I am so proud of this church family. The comments from those attending were very appreciative of this event and those who won prizes were very excited and thankful. We begin November with All Saints Sunday. We will take a moment to remember and light a candle for five wonderful members we lost since last November. They are: Doris Rayburn, Ellie May, Marge Donnelly, Glen Denny and Ed Jones. Remember to bring nonperishable food this month for Skyline Ministries in Oklahoma City. Last year we collected over 1,100 pounds of food that was a big help to this important ministry. This year our goal is 1,200 lbs. Once again, I will make waffles for the entire church at one of our Wednesday evening Dinner and Game Nights in early 2018 if you reach the goal. It has become my pleasure to make these waffles for a church that cares so much about other people. Please help us reach the goal. Saturday, November 11, is our Charge Conference at New Covenant UMC in Edmond, beginning at 10:00 am and concluding by 2:00 pm. Please plan to attend. November 19 is our annual BAKE AUCTION. Worship will be folllowed with a soup, stew or chili lunch. Be sure to bring something for the meal and lots of baked goods. Then, stay for the fun of the BIG auction that supports our ministries. As we go through November, remember to be thankful for all you have and for the love of God. A part of that thankfulness is giving back to God. We will conclude our stewardship program in November and again will ask you to turn in sealed pledges that we will keep until next November when they will be returned to you unopened. Soon you will receive last year’s unopened pledges. We thank you for your faithfulness to Lakeside and pray you will consider increasing your pledge. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. As we move into December, our theme for advent will be “Announcing the Savior is Coming!” Blessings, Pastor Randy

The youth are heading up a Little Free Library. This will be put outside in the lawn of the church for our neighbors to come by and get a book of their choice but we need your help. If you have any books you have read front-to-back and back-to-front 5 times over and are sitting collecting dust then you can help us with this outreach program. We need books for all ages and all genres to help fill it. Please bring them to church and put them in the box outside the sanctuary marked Library Books. A big shout out to Mary Ellen for being in charge of our October dinner. The November dinner and game nite is scheduled for the 15th with Audrey McGaugh and the Nuture and Care committee in charge. If you would be willing to bring a desert, please contact Joyce Gragg. The November dinner will be your last chance this year to bring a friend or relative to Come ‘N See. There is no dinner scheduled in December. Thank you, Gaye Tow

November is Skyline Month

Remember November is Stewardship Month “I will be loyal to Lakeside United Methodist Church and promise to uphold it by my prayers, my presence, my gifts, my service, and my witness.”

Right now there are UMC young people—who might not have had the resources to attend a school of their choice, or, for some, any school at all—who’ve been sent by you into the world God loves because of your giving to United Methodist Student Day. When you give generously on November 26th you are supporting these students as they prepare for a life that unites faith with knowledge. What no one person or congregation can do alone, we’re doing together.

40 Days of Prayer From October 16 to Thanksgiving day we will love our community through the act of prayer. If you haven’t started jump in now, and join us as we pray for the many people and groups in our community. Copies of 40 Days of Prayer are still available in the church hallway. Contact the office if you would like one emailed to you or need one put in the US Mail.

November is Skyline month, so be sure to bring in non perishable food items. Pastor Randy has challenged the congregation to exceed their 1100 lbs. they brought last year. If we can donate 1200 lbs. this year, Pastor Randy will fix waffles for us again. Get busy Lakeside we need Randy to do those great waffles again!

MONTHLY REPORT ON HELPING HANDS Number of people helped in October...7 Amount spent from Helping Hands ...$275.00

Wow! I cannot believe that the leaves are changing colors and the temperatures are dropping already. This year has flown by with exciting things happening in the Lakeside United Methodist Church Music Department! Our fall fundraising event brought in over one thousand dollars and has already been such a blessing! Thanks to everyone who helped with the event both with food and with giving! Our Chancel Choir is busily working on our upcoming cantata and the Bell Choir is adding more challenging arrangements to its repertoire. The children are working on a play and also on a song to play with bells that were purchased with some of our money that was raised at our fundraising event. Thanks to Megan DeCastro for doing research on the bells for our children. I cannot wait to hear and see them play! Rehearsals for the children will be toward the end of the Sunday School hour, so be sure to have your little ones there to prepare for this great presentation! You will notice that we have added some smiling faces to our Chancel Choir. Please welcome our new choir members when you see them! We have a lot of fun at our rehearsals and performances so if you are hiding a musical talent, come share with us. We would love to have you! As always, please know that it is an honor, privilege and a joy to serve the great people at Lakeside. Remember my associate director, Ivan Wong and I as we strive to do our best in service to you and our Father. Prayerfully, Aiya Attaway Kelley
