We are now well into 2018 and the ministries of Lakeside United Methodist Church are ready to make a difference for this new year. I want to begin by saying thank you to everyone who attended the planning retreat. We had some good discussion and made some great plans. We will continue to talk about the single governance Board throughout the year and create our church Welcome Center. As we begin the month of February, our minds naturally think about love. I look forward to our Valentine’s potluck dinner on Sunday, February 11 after worship. The love we share with family and friends is only known to us because we first experienced the love of God for us. It is an amazing feeling to know we are loved so much that God gave us his son, Jesus Christ. Make sure to share your love of God by purchasing a CWS blamket for $5.00 in honor of your loved ones. Our Dinner and Game night will be Wednesday, Feb. 21 with Kelly and Scott Schmitt making our meal. The game this month is “The Not So Newly Wed Game.” This should prove to be a fantastic evening of food and fun. On Wednesday, February 14 at 6:30 pm, we will have our Ash Wednesday Service to begin Lent. Lent is the season before Easter when we spend time in fasting and prayer to prepare for Holy Week and Easter. During that time my sermon series will be “A Journey Through Lent.” I pray this time will be meaningful for each of you. During February we will again be collecting Warm Fuzzies for Oklahoma City EMSA. Our goal this year is 240 stuffed animals. You are always very generous with this ministry and I am sure this year will be the same. EMSA still has a huge need for the lovable friends and appreciates our church being a source for such love. Throughout the month of February, I want you all to know that God loves you and I love you. I am so proud to be your pastor. Blessings, Pastor Randy

WARM FUZZIES The entire month of February, Lakesiders are asked to bring brand new teddy bears and stuffed animals for EMSA to carry in their ambulances so children will have a cuddle toy to accompany them in a time of crisis. The children will get to keep the animals as their own, which is why this is an on-going mission among OKC churches. Each Sunday in February, Lakeside UMC members are asked to bring “Warm Fuzzies”. Our goal this year is 240 Warm Fuzzies. Members will hold and instill love in these animals and prayers for the children, before they are sent on to EMSA. EMSA has asked that, if you are not feeling well or think you may be contagious, please do not hold a Warm Fuzzie that day. Thank you for sharing your love with so many others!

& A big shout out to Pastor Randy for the waffle dinner in January! We love you and your waffles. Thank you to others who helped make the dinner possible. I think every table was used and even pulled up extra chairs. Our February Wednesday Nite Dinner is scheduled for the 20th starting at 5:30p.m. Kelly and Scott Schmitt are in charge of the meal. Not sure of the menu, but whatever it is, it will be delicious. This year we will be inserting some new activities following our dinner. In Feb we will not be playing bingo, instead we will play the “Not So Newly Wed Game”. This is the perfect opportunity to bring a friend or look around for our church members who haven’t been attending, and invite them. Even offer to pick them up. Joyce Gragg will again be charge of asking people to bring deserts. If you are willing, give Joyce a call at 721 7109. Go ‘N Tell so they will Come ‘N See what we do at Lakeside.
