focus area is a transforming experience combining the latest ideas, models, curriculum, skills and tools that ignite, inspire and transform the lives of future leaders. Demetrius is a health and fitness enthusiast and is best known for running 3.1 miles in a suit and sneakers with thousands of runners to raise scholarship dollars for college students at his annual 5K fundraiser event. The 10th Annual Steps of Success 5K and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk/Run will take place in September of 2020 and Demetrius will once again suit up to inspire students to succeed. Demetrius also serves as Nashville Captain and Board Member of Black Men Run, an organization assisting African American men create healthy lifestyles resulting in “a healthy brotherhood”. Demetrius launched Black Men Run, Brown Boys Read at Buena Vista Elementary and inspires little brown boys through reading and running. A true servant leader, Demetrius has over 20 years of licensed ministerial experience. He faithfully and tirelessly served roles as Campus, Assistant and Youth Pastor. Demetrius has risen to prominence as a conference facilitator, keynote and motivational speaker by delivering a message of hope that stems from the struggles he has endured in life, as an entrepreneur and a business professional. He graduated of Fisk University with a double major in Computer Science and Business Administration. He currently brings over 25 years of IT Professional experience to Cigna Healthspring as a Senior Software Quality Assurance Test Analyst. In August 2020, Demetrius celebrated 21 years of marriage to his life-long friend, Vanessa Short. They both share in the joy of raising their beautiful, smart and talented daughter, Amaya Nicole who is a sophomore at Wilson Central High School.

emetrius Short is the Founder and CEO of Transformation Life Center, a non-profit 501c3 organization based in Nashville, TN. He wouldn’t let the dark and discouraging days he faced as a college student stop him from reaching success! Instead, he chose to use his struggle as a platform to Ignite (purpose), Inspire (success) and Transform the lives of collegiate students and youth living in underserved communities. Demetrius birthed the Pathway to Success Initiative (P2SI) which serves as the framework by which the vision, mission and strategy of TLC evolves into long term impact. Demetrius’ P2SI program consists of four focus areas: Faith, Education, Leadership, Health & Wellness. Each 56
