Howard Jones
A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Reverend Howard E. Jones, Jr. serves as the Senior Pastor of Fairfield Missionary Baptist Church, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. He has served as the leader of this historic Church in both interim and permanent positions, since 1989.
This anointed Man of God was ordained on April 9, 1989, and has served Fairfi eld since that time, when he was named interim Pastor. He was officially installed as Fairfield’s 10th Pastor on February 25, 1990, during the 102nd anniversary of the Church, continuing a pastoral lineage dating back to 1883.

The extent of Reverend Jones’s ministry goes beyond the church walls and the pulpit. He has established the position of Pastor as mutually a place where salvation joins education, with sermons that are both inspirational and scholarly. As a visionary, he has led the charge to expand the Fairfield footprint throughout Metropolitan Nashville;

Its most recent enterprise, Kingdom Café & Grill, located in North Nashville on Historic Jefferson Street, a restaurant that is an outreach ministry of the Fairfield Church, providing jobs, entrepreneurial opportunities, and great food.
As a product of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, Pastor Jones is a strong advocate of education both within the classroom and beyond. A graduate of Whites Creek High School, he earned his bachelor of science degree in sociology and his master’s degree in education from Tennessee State University, in Nashville. He also attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. A learned scholar in Biblical Studies, he attended American Baptist College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to his formal education, Reverend Jones has pursued opportunities for independent study and apprenticeships with such prominent religious leaders as the late Bishop Michael Lee Graves, Reverend Foster G. Young, and Rev. T. E. Sweeney. Accepting his call to Christ at an early age, his spiritual mentors include Reverend Oscar C. Myles and affectionately, Mother Gladys Haley.
A dynamic and energetic pastor, Reverend Jones conducts a 20-minute Leadership call for daily inspiration, weekdays at 6 a.m., now in its 4th season. Pastor Jones believes one’s actions within the church must also be exhibited outside the church. His philosophy is:
Professionally, he has served as a probation officer with the Juvenile Detention Court of Davidson County. He has also worked in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System for more than 25 years, holding positions that include instructor, curriculum and assessment coach, and assistant principal, at Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet School, as well as Whites Creek and McGavock high schools among others. Currently, he serves as assistant principal at John F. Kennedy Middle School, providing a diverse population of learners becoming scholars and achievers. Reverend Jones has also served as a guest lecturer in the Department of Education at Belmont University.
