Company offers range of benders, supported by advanced software that is user-friendly
New wire-bending system provides ‘smart’ optimization via its iQsmartbend software
For more than half a century, Italy’s OMCG Italia Srl has offered advanced wire-bending technology to meet the needs of manufacturers. Per the company, the C31E model, OMCG’s top-class CNC feed-and-form machine, features an eccentric bending head for maximum bending flexibility. It can bend on insert, bend on a mandrel, and do a combined bend as well as an out-of-sequence bend. The model is available in 3 sizes: 10 mm, 14 mm and 18 mm, and it provides extreme flexibility for out-of-sequence bends, cantered eyelets, generation bends and spiral-like shapes. It can precisely form wire and tube material, and changeovers are quick and simple. With optional tooling, the C31E can be used for both off-the-coil wire and tube bending. The Minimalist 6 bending system (pictured) from OMCG excels due to its proprietary front feeder that is a proven leader in terms of production rate, reliability and accuracy. It is lightweight, yet utterly dependable due to its robust bending head and longest-in-the-market aluminum bending arm that provides a fully electric automation system based on a real CNC. All of these features bring in additional advantages in manufacturing.
Germany’s WAFIOS AG, represented in North America by WAFIOS Machinery Corporation, reports that its new BM 36 high-speed wire bending machine offers superlative performance through its deployment of iQsmartbend.
Supporting the capability of OMCG’s bending technology is its East Programming 4 Software, which offers simulation and anti-collision control and full 3D part programming (polar or cartesian coordinates) and simulation. It provides direct import/export of 3D STEP files, advanced safety features for open door setup and maintenance, and can be easily integrated with third-party robots or external units. It also offers full remote diagnostic through internet, and can be part of an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) solution, having the ability to collect and share production data with manufacturing databases. OMCG also supplies accessories, such as decoilers, beveling units, presses, welding units, straighteners, measurement systems and more. See p. 65 for a profile of the company. Per the company, the new BM model has a new singlehead that sets new standards in terms of speed and quality. The machine structure has been completely redesigned, to fulfill the development goals of an innovative design, improved ergonomics and easy maintenance. The latest BM generation features highly dynamic drives and the software function iQsmartbend for an automatic optimization of workpieces and maximum production speed. When forming wire parts with highspeed, strong vibrations occur due to the process. These oscillations can not only cause undesirable deformations in already bent wire areas, but if the deflections are too strong, they can also cause the wire to jump out of the upwardly opened die. The key to the advance is iQsmartbend. The WAFIOS process optimizes the axis that travels in such a way that vibrations are significantly minimized and enables the machine to produce bend parts in new speed levels. As a result, the output of the BM 36 HS could be increased by up to 40% compared to its predecessor, optimizing the unit costs across the entire range of parts. Nano diamond-coated die has many pluses Fort Wayne Wire Die reports that the company’s Nano Diamond Coated Dies (Nano DCDs) introduce a completely new advancement in die surface technology. Per the company, the Nano DCDs yield an incredibly smooth wire finish, with minimal generation of fines, in hole sizes as large as an unprecedented 100 millimeters (3.9 in.). That makes Nano DCDs an ideal solution for stranding, bunching and compacting applications of conductor cable. The dies come in hole sizes from 0.031 in. to 3.937 in. (0.80 mm to 100 mm). They are ideal for stranded cable used in electrical transmission, and can also
