MARCH 2019 NEWSLETTER

THE REPORTER

Grace and peace to you from God the Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. This month we begin the season of Lent, a time often dedicated to self-reflection, fasting, and other spiritual disciplines. We will join with Benton, Willow Creek, Renner, Baltic, and East Nidaros for our midweek Lenten worship services. For us at West we will rotate locations between Benton, Willow Creek, and West Nidaros after Ash Wednesday. The focus for this years Lenten worship is the patriarchs and matriarchs of Genesis. Beginning with Abraham we will see how God chose him and Sarah, giving them a promise that they would have a son, the seed, the promised child. Throughout the story of Abraham and his heirs, we see how God provides, how God keeps His promise. Throughout the story God rarely works according to our hoped for schedules, but just when it seems like things are falling apart, God does what He promises. For the chosen, it isn’t always easy, in fact the chosen often suffer terribly for the promise. But through it all we see that there is one who never falters, never doubts, and never fails to fulfill His promise. I encourage you to make Wednesday worship a part of your Lenten journey, and come and hear and explore the rich stories of Genesis. In Christ, Pr. Jared Rakness
