In that time, we have had some outstanding cricket figures to entertain us. These have included Tony Cosier from the West Indies, David Lloyd, Jonathan Agnew and Christopher Martin-Jenkins from England, Jim Maxwell from Australia, Rameez Raja from Pakistan and John Wright from New Zealand by way of India, Neil Manthorpe from South Africa and our own Craig McMillan and Ian Smith.

Breakfast at The Basin

BREAKFASTMATCHTEST

To celebrate the start of the Wellington Test match, Wanderers instituted a first-morning breakfast. This annual event has been an institution at the Basin for over ten years.

The first morning of any Test match is always one of anticipation and hope. This is especially so when we have as our home venue the Basin Reserve, the sixth oldest Test ground in the world, and voted in the top ten Test match venues.

The Wanderers Test Match Breakfast at the Basin Breakfast is a cricketing must every summer.

There is nothing better than to gather early on the first morning of a Basin Reserve Test Match, mix with friends, watch the groundsmen remove the covers and make final preparations, see the teams arrive and celebrate the occasion with such outstanding speakers.

All of our speakers have a vast knowledge of cricket and a wealth of stories to share and we have been very fortunate to have been entertained so richly on the first morning of our Basin Reserve Tests.

WANDERERS FAMILY & FOUNDERS DAY

A Wanderers Day at The Basin

Founders Day is great way to get together with fellow club members, enjoy a few pre-Christmas festivities and support the Wellington Firebirds & Blaze in a SuperSmash Double Header.

This is a club day, enjoying cricket whilst catching up with those members who have been instrumental in the administration and involvement in the club for a very long time.

In recent years we have used the Shandon Golf Course and greatly appreciate the assistance and support offered by Bondie (Ross Bond) and the Shandon team. The event is now usually held in the early part of the cricket season.

This is one event which should be pencilled into every member’s calendar.

The success of this important day in our events schedule relies totally on the support of the members.

Wanderers has run an annual golf day since 2007. This has served two purposes; to create an opportunity for members and their friends and colleagues to get together in the spirit of friendly rivalry on the golf course, and as a fundraiser for the Club’s activities.

We've introduced a new event for the 2022/23 season.

NumbersRoom.

The Test Match Luncheon will be held in either the new Wanderer's Peter Field Clubrooms at the top of the RA Vance Stand or in the Norwood

This was the venue that many current Wanderers Members began playing together and socialising on a Sunday.

The Wanderer's Peter Field Clubrooms are situated in the top of the RA Vance Stand. With 180 degree views out over the Basin Reserve, it's one of the best vantage points in the entire ground.

CLUBROOMSPETERWANDERER'SFIELD

Wanderers Members have exclusive use of this area for matches and events at the Basin Reserve including international and domestic matches – plus all Wanderers matches.

New home of Wellington Wanderers CC

Peter Field was the Waikanae farmer who donated some of his land to the Wanderers to create our first home ground in the 1970's.

In Partnership with the Basin Reserve Trust and Cricket Wellington, we've secured a new home for the Wanderers at the Basin Reserve.

WANDERERS PLAYING PROGRAMME

|   06WANDERERS CRICKET CLUB

The Wellington Wanderers Cricket Club played its first fixtures in the summer of 1946-47 having been formed by the efforts of two men, Dutchy du Chateau and John Standish. They wanted to have a social cricket team who, because they didn’t have their own ground, travelled gypsy-like to each venue.
