For Our Members ... I’ve been in the fundraising world for a decade and can honestly say WCMU has some of the best donors and members around. It’s no secret our largest group of supporters are individual donors, like YOU! The support of our donors is one of the most important components in continuing to develop the station. WCMU donors give to the station because they are genuinely passionate about the programming and understand the impact WCMU has in our communities. I am fortunate to get to work with our donors on an individual level and I get to hear stories all the time about how WCMU has helped shape their life. I would love to hear from you if you’d like to share a story about how WCMU has helped shaped your life. You can email or call me: ander2aj@ cmich.edu 989.774.1540. I enjoy being an advocate for Public Media and fostering positive

relationships with our members and help people understand the reasons why their support is important and the impact their gifts have on the success of the station. I hope you enjoy May’s upcoming programing. I know I’m looking forward to the long standing tradition of the National Memorial Day concert. Thank you for your continued support. You make a difference with every dollar you give. We wouldn’t be here today without you.

Alysha Pasquali Strategic Philanthropy Director

You’ll notice a few adjustments to your guide this month. After a complete review, we’ve combined all four of our television channel primetime listings, made it a self-mailer, and streamlined the information. Overall, this redesign provides more flexibility and cost savings. We are always looking for ways to be good stewards of your investment in WCMU.

THANK YOU AT ALL OUR Jessica Hill

I plan on graduating with my bachelors of science in psychology and exercise science. I plan to begin my doctoral degree in physical therapy at Central Michigan University beginning in the summer of 2022 and graduate in the summer of 2025.

Marie Boyd

Faith Esch

I am graduating with a master’s degree in speech and language pathology. After graduation, I will take the summer to relax and enjoy time with friends and family! In the fall, I hope to begin working at an elementary school near the Lansing area. I will see students for therapy to work on speech production, comprehension and use of language, and using communication in social situations.

Christian Smith

I have been a WCMU employee since June 2021 as a Music Librarian! This position has taught me so much about cataloguing music of various forms and genres. Through learning to digitize CDs and vinyl records, I’ve gained skills that I didn’t previously have in the fields of both technology and music. The WCMU staff here are truly some of the friendliest people I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with and I’m so thankful for their mentorship.

Kiara McCarthy

2

After graduation, I will be going on to graduate school at The University of North Texas to study Jazz Performance. There I will continue my studies in jazz improvisation on the trumpet. The most incredible thing about having worked at WCMU is that the work I did here helped me grow as a musician as well. Hosting a radio show and listening to jazz during Nightside helped me gain more knowledge of my craft and become a better performer. All in all, this job has given me so much and the experience of working here will leave a lasting impact on me in my career.

GRADUATING SENIORS! Gena Harris

After spending my past 4 years at Central Michigan University I’ve been able to connect, learn, and most importantly create experiences. I was able to get my first media job at WCMU Public Media, anchor, and report for News Central/Central View Live, join the greatest sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority INC,. After graduation, I’m happy to announce I’ll be working for WILX in Lansing MI as a Multi-Media Journalist. I’m thrilled to have secured a job in my field right here in Michigan.

Flynn Hamel

Alexis Pearce

My name is Alexis and I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Science from CMU. I majored in Exercise Science: Kinesiology and minored in psychology. I will be attending Central Michigan’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program starting in May and hope to work in sports rehabilitation after I graduate. In addition to work at WCMU, I am a certified personal trainer, I am involved in the honors program and the Pre-Physical Therapy club, and volunteer with a Fall prevention program out of the CMU College of Medicine.

Jack O’Brien

I will be moving on this fall for Graduate study Mannes school of music at the new school to pursue a master’s degree in music composition! Working at WCMU has been an all-around amazing experience where I have met some amazing people and learned so many cool things from the programing that we offer. It has been an amazing experience that has helped me to gain confidence and find my personal voice that has helped me to express myself in ways I haven’t been able to in the past.

Riley Connell After graduation in May I am continuing to work for WCMU over the summer. Afterwards I hope to find a job continuing my work in broadcasting, or try my hand at something new. Utilizing my Bachelors of Music I hope to create a community of open-minded musicians, and continue to compose and perform music wherever I end up. 3
