HELLO!

How time flies when you’re having fun... an old saying but so true and even more so if you’re on holiday or even if you are working here in the Costa Blanca. It is busy busy busy and with so many visitors from the UK here right now, bar and restaurant owners are flat out right through until the end of the November Fiestas. The day time temperatures are continuing to be around 26-27 degrees this is high for this time of year although we have seen much cooler evenings so it is beginning to be more comfortable to sleep with the duvet back on. The weather next week is promised to be much the same so beach lovers you’re fine for now. The dark mornings are sometimes a bit daunting this time of year as it is keeps drawing out later and later. We don’t see the day light until after 8am and then it actually reaches 20 past 8 until 27th when the clocks go back so the extra hour in the morning is great for us early risers, but not so nice to see the long sunny days cut short.... If you came along to the Benidorm Poppy parade it was great to see you and so many people supporting the event, and if you have any local news or events to tell us then call us or e mail, we are waiting to tell everyone!! I hope you enjoy this weeks read and coming soon is our special weekly Buzz Guide to the best Christmas, it is all about where to go for your Christmas party with many great bars and restaurants to visit during the festive season and also where to buy the ideal gifts. Many people came along for the day enjoying a Sunday lunch in the restaurant, it was an event for the whole family with something for everyone including a raffle and tombola the donated prizes were incredible and every ticket available was sold to raise money. This event is just one of many that are organised each year by the Fab 4 along with many other events for many different charities being supported here in the Costa Blanca. The ex pat community and local business owners participate in regular fund raising efforts, this is a true sign that the Brits here in Spain together with many orther Europen countries really do care about what is happening all around us and recognise that local charities do need our help. So a massive big thank you from Tad, Stewart, Anne and Pam and to all of those people that helped together with everyone who came along and donated. Keep up the good work Fab 4 and I’m sure our readers will be looking forward to the next fund raising event.

Amazing Turn out for the first Benidorm Poppy Appeal 2013

The Benidorm Poppy Appeal 2013 on 16th October saw hundreds of Brits both Ex-Pats and holiday makers parade along the beach front after being welcomed by the Mayor of Benidorm Agustin Navarro together with the British Consul Paul Rodwell. This is the first official Poppy Appeal to be held in Benidorm. The Royal British Legion in Spain District Chairman, Chris Wyatt, said "I am amazed and truly overwhelmed at the response to the launch of the Poppy Appeal for 2013 here in Benidorm”. 2012 total was an incredible year raising 171,376€ (an increase of 28% over the money raised in 2011). Volunteers give their time to go out to airports, shopping malls, bars etc throughout the year in order that The Royal British Legion in Spain can contribute. These days veterans can now be as young as 18, the Legion is there to support them for the rest of their lives. Spending as it did last year, £250,000 every day, this shows the commitment of the Royal British Legion to those who have served their country.

From 14th to 20th October, a large group of restaurants put on their tables the infinite varieties of a dish that is the summit of our kitchen, so that the rice stews, mellow and dry, inspired by ingredients from the garden, the poultry or sea, are the heads of a few days in which our restaurants and our professionals will again be protagonists. With the “Second Editions of Rice Dish Days of Benidorm” we close the annual cycle dedicated to enhancing our cuisine as one of the great tourist attractions of Benidorm. A cuisine that every day is better known and more competitive thanks to the efforts deployed by hundreds of local entrepreneurs who have made our identity restoration.

buzz@vistacostablanca.com

18th 19th 20th October

Three days & nights of parties fun and fiestas throughout the gay village in Benidorm. Most bars take part in this twice yearly event organised between the gay bar owners. There are no door fees or wristbands to get entry simply a chance for everyone to get together and paint the town PINK! More and more visitors from all over Spain and Europe come to Benidorm for what is now known as a main gay destination for an all year around party atmosphere offering almost a dedicated area in the Old Town of Benidorm known as the gay village. Men and women dress up, and have fun. The ideal gay city break in Benidorm is available from 219₏ for 3 nights with flights from London and transfers included. The gay tourist industry in Benidorm is growing more and more with annual events becoming more popular, this year the third gay pride was a huge success and is now already being planned again for 2014. The much needed tourist is vital for the local economy and the gay village of the old town is making a big difference to local business survival and without it the town would really be at a loss and the pink pound known to many in the UK would be spent elsewhere something that we really don’t want! So good luck and sucsess to the many gay businesses this weekend.

alling all expatriates of any nationality! Have you moved overseas for a better quality of life for your family, to pursue a career opportunity or simply for a change of scenery to the place you always adored? If you have then we really want to hear from you and this is the opportunity to make sure your voice is heard. Whatever initiated your move ‘The Expat Survey’ invites you to share your opinions on a variety of different topics. Whilst there are the usual questions requiring you to tick boxes, the research study breaks away from convention and enquires about your experience, whether or not expectations have been fulfilled, what expats miss about home and requests tips and advice for others contemplating a move to a new continent. Your input will make a valuable contribution to understanding how those residing outside their country of origin can be supported, so that organisations and companies that specialise in servicing expatriate communities and individuals can understand their needs better. In a world of rapid change and volatile economies, with the diversification and consolidation of businesses resulting in employment instability and mounting stress, many have chosen to move overseas in the belief that the grass is greener on the other side. For some a permanent move, for others temporary; in many cases for a life-style change, for others there has been no choice. Whether it has proven to be the best or worst decision you ever made, your feedback is essential. ‘The Expat Survey’ is being conducted by i-World Research, an independent research company and is the largest and most comprehensive global study ever undertaken into migration and expatriate life. Led by the ex-head of research for BBC World and ex-research director for Saatchi & Saatchi, it does not share any information with third parties and has

Good start for Craft NATIONAL POLICE ARREST Fair in their new location 3 PEOPLE FOR DRUG

TRAFFICKING

L

ast Sunday the weekly Craft Fair in La Nucía started its autumn season in a new location. From February to June the market ran every Sunday in the square in front of the Town Hall, a very nice corner of the old town but a bit tight for space. It looks like it was a good idea to change to the Plaça dels Músics along the main road: most passing cars slowed down to look what was going on, and, judging by the number of visitors, many decided to park their cars and have a better look at the colourful stalls. The Plaça dels Músics offers more flexibility, is in direct sight of passing cars and has its own charm, with trees, a children's playground and a barwith-terrace. Also, the artesans have much more space, space enough to set up a little workshop next to their stalls to make the fair livelier and more interesting. And there is room for more stalls. Plenty of room for up to twenty stalls, instead of trying to squeeze o dozen or so in a very tight space. And what

stalls! Amata, the regional crafts association, has registered "Artesanía de Autor" as proof that everything shown on the stands is made by the people at the stall, not something you will see in many other so-called craft fairs. There are people working in the fair; if you have a special requirement and it is not too complicated, often you can get it done while you wait. Or you can place an order and pick it up a fortnight or three weeks later.

8

Each Sunday, from 10 till 2, between 15 and 20 stalls are set up, but there will be different people each week, so that participants can rest, or go to other week-end fairs. It's a lively scene, with occasional live shows (ring 639 979 678 or look at www.amata.es for details, English spoken and English web page). On 20 October, for instance, Maxi and Dixi, a pair of extraordinarily talented musical puppets, will perform for their honoured public. La Nucia Town Hall also organises guided walks round the Old Town, starting on the fair at 11, 12 and 13 hours in various languages, including English - in what is after all a very pretty town. All in all it promises a good way of spending Sunday morning.

T

he investigations started several weeks ago when agents of the national police force research group in the district of Alicante obtained information on the sale of cocaine in the area. They proceeded to find the exact address of the place whereby the storage and sale was taking place. That them resulted in the arrest of two men and one woman. The house was searched and in turn the following was confiscated. A total of 165 grams of cocaine, 60 of which was bagged in packets weighing a gram awaiting their immediate sale and distribution, 6 machetes, 4 knives, a 38 caliber revolver with 5 cartridges, 2 precision scales, 3 high end mobile phones and 8.000€ in cash. Those detained , two of them of Colombian nationality and the other Spanish aged between 29 and 56 will now be made to appear in front of the magistrates for sentencing.

Taking Benidorm by storm!

T

o write a story or to report to the public one needs to experience what hopefully the reporter wants to portray, so in the line of "duty " I went along to valentines night club just off Calle Gerona opposite the riudor hotel to see a singer called Marty wade and I was extremely surprised. The Clarity of his voice was outstanding ,must re-think my nights out as Cabaret seems to be the way to go. The audience loved this man and his very strong, charismatic style of singing. His performance used a wide variety of material and Marty had the audience participating and singing along it was great!!! As we sat and listened people from the streets started to hear Marty singing and the room completely filled!

10

The crowd erupted in applause shouting for more once the show had finished, then he had to perform two extra songs. 48 year old Marty is married to Mandy and is the father of 3 children. Jamie 21, Joanna 20 and Jade who is sweet 16, he's also a grandad! to little Maisy aged 2.Originally from Walsall in Birmingham he has sung all over, Scotland, Wales even Fort Lauderdale for 21 nights before here he was singing in Blackpool for over 12 years until he decided that he wanted everyone to be able to enjoy his talents, and with Benidorm being the best place for Cabaret especially in the winter season, he flew over in August of this year. He loves the Buzz around Benidorm, and the fact that "most of the clubs and bars are just like being back in the uk in the 70's". I asked if he had been singing long, "since I was 8" he has had no professional vocal training he was just born with this talent.I guessed from his show that his musical influences were people like Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdinck, Shirley Bassy and obviously he draws his inspiration from Joe Longthorne himself! Marty has worked with an array of stars, Cannon and Ball, Frank Carson, Jimmy Cricket, "and there's more..." (Haha) He is pictured above with Ken Dodd in 2003 who said Marty was one of the best voices he'd heard. He has made many friends in the short time he has been in Benidorm, Flash Harry and Maureen being two of the best and have helped him tremendously. He likes going out to enjoy the other acts around especially the comedians Jason Kane and Albi Senior. Asked about singers in his similar genre and he said that he though Sean Foster

Conley was a fantastic singer. I saw the Joe Longthorne tribute at Valentines cabaret bar where a great team behind the scenes help Marty. Chris Jaye is the master of ceremonies and having 20 years of experience here in Benidorm always makes sure that his lighting and sound is spot on. Vicente, the owner should be very happy. You can see Marty Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8pm and starting from the 12th of October every other Saturday at the Flamingo Oasis Hotel. Go along and see the show, you won't be disappointed!

Mayra Indian Cuisine

It’s all you need for a great read.

T

he Brits are famous for loving Indian food so where better to find this new restaurant than in La Nucia where the population is 46% foreign nationals and most being British. So I went along to meet the owner Anil and talk about what makes Restaurant Mayra any different to other Indian food restaurants in the Costa Blanca, I was excited to taste the food as it has been a while since I had a curry. When I arrived I immediately noticed how spacious and colourful the restaurant was, the tables were set out so that there was plenty of room between them, there were some different areas offering privacy and that were ideal for private parties. Anil told me that the menu was designed specifically to offer an authentic north Indian style of cooking, the chef had been cooking in India for 15 years after studying as a chef. The menu was set out as a traditional a la carte with a separate Indian Tapas menu offering small dishes from 3.50€ including a drink. The Special Menu available all day and night was only 9.95€ offering a choice of 30 main courses accompanied with either rice or Nan bread also popadoms and dips to start and one small drink followed with a dessert or coffee. I chose a classic curry Lamb Rogan Josh with Pilau rice, Nan Bread and Taka Dal, I prefer curries with a sauce although I had seen many sizzling platters coming from the kitchen that got my taste buds going with an amazing aroma of the tandoori spices that filled the room. My lamb was tender and moist, the sauce was not very spicy but full of flavour. If you like your curry with a little kick then I would recommend you ask for what you prefer when you order. For me it was the Nan bread that won full marks 10 out of 10 because I know that fining real good Nan bread is not that easy here in Spain. I’m not sure if it the flour available here but often I have had flat thin Nan and I prefer thick puffy but with a little crisp on the outside. This was exactly what I got and for me made the meal. The portion size was good and the services to me was perfect not too much attention so you weren’t being overlooked but enough to feel that you were being looked after. I had to finish all my food although I must say this was quite a task but was helped along the way with two bottles of cobra beer that were served ice cold. “The convenience of having a local Indian restaurant for the many urbanisations in the La Nucia area and also a free delivery service is exactly what people

buzz@vistacostablanca.com Benidorm year after year is attracting more tourists both from other European countries and also from across Spain. The love of food here in the Costa Blanca is top of the list of attractions and Benidorm does this very well building a sound reputation for the many high standard restaurants in the area this is essential to tourism . The Brits love to taste the local food and Tapas Alley the famous food street in the Old Town of Benidorm is a very popular place to visit is one of the many tourist attractions that Benidorm has to offer. Discovering tapas and wine has always been what tourist love to do and probably the second most popular thing here after the best beaches in Spain. This week is all about the rice dishes and the famous Paella pronounced with Pae-ya and not ella. The Department of Tourism are committed to the importance of establishing Benidorm as a centre of Gastronomic cuisine. In February they lauched the 2013 Gastronomic food calendar offering local events and the last of these takes right now until Sunday 20th October. 19 restaurants are taking part in this week event including the famous restaurant group AURRERA offering a wide range of dishes at several locations that include SIDRERIA AURRERA LA BRASERIA AND LA TAPERIA find them in C/SANTO DOMINGO OLD TOWN BENIDORM. Issue 05 / 17 - 23 October

What’s Hot and What’s Not tells us. Overall, for the ribs, certainly not worth just under 17 euros - burgers looked far better. Atmosphere would get 4 out of 10 - better places to eat in Benidorm and won’t be trying any of their other “World Famous” venues that’s for sure.Shame it offered so much and delivered very little.

“Good and bad points” Neils Brasserie Plazza Del Torrejo, 5, Benidorm, Spain

“Not our best meal”

Reviewed October 8, 2013 NEW Thought we had to give this place a go , but won’t be rushing back. I had beef noodles and the beef was extremely tough . Wife had pasta said it ok but nothing special. The place lacked atmosphere as well. Paddy W. Dublin, Ireland

“Best meal in benidorm look no further”

Reviewed October 3, 2013 We normally eat at Vagabonds and Paneils but as Neil formerly partner in Paneils had opened Neil’s decided to give it a try and WoW great Location great Service great Ambience and Excellent Food had the three course menu For 12.95 euros and all three courses were perfect great value excellent food and have already booked to go back.

“Best ever”

Reviewed October 3, 2013 via mobile Having visited most of the restaurants in the top ten we decided to visit Neils last night. We were lucky enough to have an outside table with views overlooking the sea. From arriving to leaving everything was perfect so much so we have booked to return on Saturday evening. I have never written a review before but feel this restaurant is not getting the praise it deserves a lot of other restaurants seem to bask in the glory of top ten status and serve very ordinary food whereas Neils is far more than this please visit you will not be disappointed cant wait for Saturday

Tony Romas avda mediteraina, 03503 Benidorm, Spain

“Advertised as World Famous Ribs Famous For What Though?”

Reviewed October 13, 2013 NEW We went to Tony Romas after seeing their sign for World Famous Ribs - and to be honest they might be famous but it is not for the taste / sauce or size. My friends had burgers but I wanted to try these famous ribs, and to be honest wish I had had a burger. Rack of ribs was okay in size, slaw that accompanied it was dry and the fries were just about average. Ribs were quite dry and very little of their famous BBQ sauce. No finger bowl or wipes for hands until asked for. Service was virtually non-existent with the staff just hanging around chatting for the most part and calling on them seemed an inconvenience.

Reviewed September 30, 2013 Not our usual choice for a meal out and left slightly disappointed The ribs were sublime, the onion rings a real surprise and a treat too, the chicken overcooked and the re-fried beans absolutely disgusting (but to be fair I have never had them before so was unsure what they should be like). The prices seemed reasonable enough, service was a little slow and one of our group got his main long after the rest of us. I would go again even if it was just for the onion rings and ribs.

“Love the ribs”

Reviewed September 30, 2013 Myself and 4 friends visited here last weekend on the Sat night, only had to wait 5 minutes on a table which wasn’t too bad. We all had ribs with the portion sizes just adequate without there being much waste. Although 3 of us 3 of us had our meals placed in front of us 2 of our friends had to wait 5 minutes before they got there’s only because we had to get onto the waiter to see what was happening.

Coco Loco Beach Albir S.L. Paseo De Las Estrellas, 1, 03581 El Albir, L’Alfas del Pi, Spain

“Nice atmosphere”

Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile Felt very holiday like, good staff, nice lay out, food not so good, salad and fillings bland, burgers very greasy and the service chargers are a bit of a rip off! No tips for you now! Drinks expensive than anywhere else.

“Fabulous Food, Perfect location!”

Reviewed September 19, 2013 The coco loco beach bar is perfectly located opposite the beach on the end of the promenade. It is always a busy bar, however the service was very quick and efficent. I ate here for lunch and had the goats cheese salad, this was a huge meal, with a big round of goats cheese wrapped in bacon, on a salad with apple and pine nuts, and 2 huge chunks of herby bread. Great value and idylic setting opposite the sea. All of the food I saw was very well presented and of huge portions, a good extensive menu, would say it is more of a lunch time venue, but was still very busy into the night. Definatly the most inviting bar in the row along the front.

“Terrible”

Reviewed August 29, 2013 First we had to wait for 1 hour to get our food. When we told them they just didnt care. After eating, we went inside to pay the bill, because it started to rain

It’s all you need for a great read.

a lot, and a female staff were so unpolite and said to us to go outside again! We are living in Javea, and we have never experienced anything close to this there. The last thing this waitress did was running out to us and asked us if we had problems with anything, almost screaming in front of other people, weird. I cant understand how they can let her work there unless its not her restaurant. We are never going back to this tourist trap.

Estrella Polar Avda.Albir 79, L’Alfas del Pi, Spain

“Good pizza”

Reviewed August 29, 2013 via mobile Our go-to-place for take away pizza in albir. Good pizzas at a reasonable price. Nice staff. The owner speaks norwegian as he’s lived in norway, and the other staff speaks english as well as spanish. They also have some more traditional norwegian food.

“The best pizza in costa blanca”

Reviewed March 11, 2013 Owner is a spanish man, who has spent most of his life running a pizza bar in Norway - back in Spain he offers nordic style hospitality and wood oven baked delicious pizzas, fresh pastas, meat, norwegian salmon and local tapas with very reasonable prices. Italian and french wines also available, owner speaks spanish - norwegian - english - german and dutch and french and what else...

“A place for people who likes to talk to a real Norwegian.”

Reviewed January 8, 2013 A good restaurant without any special decoration or intimity, but a very good choose,as the owner is very concerned with his customers, taking very good care of you,and know to present you for the different dishes if you ask for fish, meat or poultry. He even suggested his red housewife in spite of this was cheaper than several brands, and it tasted very good too.

ALFAZ FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE Just as the domestic campaign starts flowing again we are interrupted with another International break. Well at least it's not a silly old Friendly. It will give us a chance to see what's been happening so far in this Season's Fantasy League. The 70 Premier League games played so far have contributed to the Fantasy 162 goals,46 clean sheets,226 yellow cards(average of 3 a game) and 7 red ones. The Referees have awarded 16 penalties of which 5 were missed. Mike's Team Super Saints got off to a flying start taking Manager of the Month for August which was sponsored by Rachel at the El. Nui. His Team led for the 1st 3 Weeks then Linda's Bar Tapas,Albir took over for 1 Week before the current Leaders Lee's Little Hulton Albion came to the fore. Rocky's Mini Spurs have been top of our Junior League for the last 2 Weeks taking over from Boshy's Beasts but the Team they will have to keep an eye on is last Seasons Champions Moon Kitten who are in 4th place. The Mark Carter Ladies Section has been topsy turvy with no fewer than 4 Teams reaching the Summit. Linda's Bar Tapas,Beryl's Liverbirds,Debbie's Foxy Filberts and the leaders at the moment Kim's Ginger United have all enjoyed their spell at the top. At the other end of the scale Kim & Rachel's Team El. Nui Baddies looked certain relegation candidates until along came Liverpool's Luis Suarez who has scored

The Lowest score at the moment is Charlie's Team Barca Forever C de F with a minus 6. Last Week we did the Draw for our Premier Imports Prize and the lucky winner was Wyn when is Team Wyndhams Chelski was pulled out of the hat to win him a nice case of sparkling wine. A quick breakdown of the top Players so far in the Fantasy League is as follows.Top Keeper Liverpool's Mignolet with 26 points.Top Defenders 2 both from Southampton Lovren & Fonte with 35 points apiece. In Midfield Manchester City's Ivorian Giant Ya Ya Toure has picked up a tally of 37 points while the top Striker and also top Fantasy League Player overall is Liverpool's ace Marksman Daniel Sturridge with 49 points. 28 Managers had the good fortune to select the Chelsea & Manchester City castoff. Well I don't know about but I can't wait for the Premier League to get underway again this Weekend so good luck and enjoy the rest of the 20th Alfaz Fantasy Football League.

Horoscope ARIES

Hard to know how the great pioneers of the modern world felt after they accomplished something great, but on Monday you have an inkling. And your recent successes are only going to beget even more success, but not necessarily overnight. Tuesday and Wednesday, for example, you find yourself in an unlikely slump — the problem is simply, once you’ve accomplished something great, where do you go from there? Overseas, maybe? Is a trip in order? Do something this weekend that will enable you to meet strangers — if such strangers are of another culture, all the better.

TAURUS

Nothing makes sense on Monday. Everyone’s acting completely absurd. There’s a strong chance no one means anything by it, and trying to decipher motives behind the madness will only drive you into further confusion. So, relax. Take everything with a grain of salt. If it really starts to bug you, find a good friend (someone steady and normal-seeming) to vent to, but chances are by the end of the week you’ll see that none of it had anything to do with you anyway. Friday or Saturday, you are on the verge of making a purchase when you decide to shop around a bit more.

GEMINI

Strong as your opinions are, you’re smart enough to be receptive to new ideas. A new idea comes your way on Monday and totally flattens you - in a terrific way. It changes everything. It’s not every day that this happens, and it won’t happen again for a while. Tuesday and Wednesday have nothing new to offer you (career worries are on your mind), and Thursday is spent in the company of people very familiar to you (good friends, maybe some coworkers). This weekend, take the initiative in a group situation and everyone will be thrilled to follow your lead.

CANCER

If you were running the lemonade stand all by yourself, you could set all the prices; but you’re in this thing with someone else, and maintaining this relationship is just as important as making money. Tuesday and Wednesday you and you-know-who are more in tune with one another, and this may be a result of your willingness to be chill. Try to be chill on Thursday and Friday too — they will be hectic days and you’ll feel like hurrying, but that will only rattle you. Responding in emotional ways on Saturday won’t solve much. Practice poise this week.

LEO

It’s wonderful to be loyal, but there’s a difference between being loyal and being clingy - and it’s a crucial difference on Monday. Be inventive about your solutions to the problems at hand. If there are any financial dealings at issue on Tuesday or Wednesday, it’s best to table them for the time being. Thursday through Saturday you should be bold about placing yourself in the path of people who know more than you do, and then do your best impression of a sponge. Contrary to what they always say about ignorance and bliss, you love to learn. You also love an opportunity to be an expert - this comes Sunday.

VIRGO

It’s far more generous of you to offer what you would do if you were in you-know-who’s shoes than to offer a critique of said shoes - anyone can be a critic. Also, what you say is just as important as how you say it. The details of this person’s situation are certainly more complicated than you realize, and coming on too strong will only diminish your position from where you can dispense advice (and it is certainly a position you enjoy). As for dispensations of other kinds, money is tight at the end of the week, so don’t go driving down the highway throwing dollar bills out the window.

LIBRA

Enough with the standard fare, you need something fresh and new. Monday’s fun will come from an unlikely source - an acquaintance you haven’t invested much time in, a band you’ve never heard before, a book you’ve always meant to read. Tuesday and Wednesday have you maxed out and with little time for experimental pursuits, but Thursday and Friday offer plenty of social time - that means plenty of time to scoot a chair up to someone you barely know and do something about that. Romance and flirtation also figure strongly on Thursday and Friday - and Saturday, too - and Sunday is pure magic.

SCORPIO

A radical change is on the horizon in your home life. You shouldn’t regard this the same way you’d regard a storm on the horizon: Change is good, and this change will be great. Meanwhile, on Tuesday and Wednesday, your love life is great - for whatever reason (perhaps you’re in charge of designing the outings) you are drawing heavily on your imagination these days. You haven’t felt so engaged in a while. Thursday and Friday find you avoiding conflict and staying fit, and Saturday is a fine time to start something. Sunday is about you and you-know-who.

SAGITTARIUS

Connections come easily to you on Monday - you’re able to finish the sentences of perfect strangers. This says something about your chemistry with these people, but it is also an indication of alertness on your part. Some of this alertness will be obscured on Tuesday and Wednesday by the metaphorical turn your thoughts take - the simplest anecdotes seem to have fable-like significance to you - but on Thursday through Saturday, you aren’t thinking abstractly at all. You’re doing somersaults down slopes and throwing snowballs at someone with whom you’re smitten. Sunday is quiet by comparison.

It’s all you need for a great read.

CAPRICORN

Your routine’s starting to blend and blur and become sort of dull to you, but this is a routine that’s treated you pretty well, all things considered. Monday sees you considering a change in style — a different approach to the same game. This is wise. Tuesday and Wednesday find you flexing your creativity in more overtly inspired ways, and Thursday you draw on a resourceful solution to a family problem. Friday and Saturday, you’ll continue to ponder the family situation, but an adventure on Sunday returns you happily to your personal priorities (your love life, for instance).

AQUARIOUS

It’s amazing when you notice - when you can really see - the effect you have on other people. You can see it on Monday, and this evidence of your inspiration in turn inspires you to go on being inspiring. You are part of a happy loop of good feeling. It makes sense that you may deliriously slip into a sort of mystical realm on Tuesday and Wednesday, what with all the vaunted impressions you have of yourself and the people around you. Thursday through Saturday are likewise marked by advanced ideas, thrilling discoveries and interpersonal electricity. Sunday, check up on a relative.

PISCIS

The pressure of everyone else’s problems weighs on you on Monday. Yes, it’s good of you to spend so much time concocting solutions for quandaries that have little to do with you, but some days you need to give yourself a break. To whatever extent possible, try to make all your problem-solving efforts on Tuesday and Wednesday related to your own problems - and if you lack problems, well, hooray! Go to the movies! Unwind! Thursday through Saturday will wind you up again. They will puzzle you. Then again, you love puzzles. Sunday is about softness, poetry, a tasty dinner, stuff like that.

Changes in your menstrual cycle.

when to see a Doctor

Menopause The average age for the menopause is 50 to 55, but sometimes women can have an early menopause. Women whose periods stop before they're 45 or who are still bleeding when they're over 55 years old should seek medical advice. Post-menopausal bleeding If a woman has any bleeding (however slight) following the menopause she needs to see her family doctor urgently. IT IS VITAL THAT THE WOMAN IS INVESTIGATED WITHOUT DELAY TO RULE OUT SERIOUS CAUSES. Bleeding between periods or after sex A woman who bleeds between periods or after sex must be seen by a doctor as it can be a sign of infection, abnormalities of the cervix or possibly cancer.

The most obvious cause of missing a period is pregnancy. If pregnancy is ruled out and you miss two or three periods you should see your family doctor. There can be many reasons including:

Sudden changes If your periods suddenly change – for example, they become heavier or longer – get advice. This is especially important for women over 40 and warrants prompt investigation. Changes may be associated with cervical or endometrial polyps, endometrial cancer or a pre-cancerous condition which can be treated if detected early.

• hormonal changes • stress • sudden weight loss • intense athletic activity • taking the contraceptive pill

Good Week

It’s all you need for a great read.

Bad week

England players praise Townsend More trouble for Federer England debutant Andros Townsend justified Roy Hodgson's faith in him with a stand-out performance helping England to move a step closer to the World Cup next year with a 4-1 win over Montenegro. The win guaranteed a top-two finish in Group H. There is still work to be done if the Three Lions are to book a place at Brazil 2014, but they can now rest a little easier heading into Tuesday's clash with Poland at Wembley. Townsend always looked lively getting the ball down and running at players, and he got his just rewards with a goal on 78 minutes that sealed the victory when putting England 3-1 in front after Montenegro had just got back into the game.

Taylor whitewashes Chisnall

The records and the titles keep coming for Phil Taylor after he destroyed Dave Chisnall 6-0 to win the World Grand Prix title in Dublin for the 11th time. World No 1 Taylor won 18 of the 20 legs in a ruthless display which left Chisnall shaking his head in disbelief - after The Power won the first three sets without Chisnall even having a

Roger Federer split with tennis coach Paul Annacone after more than three years working together after another disappointing defeat - this time out in China at the Shanghai Masters. Federer made the announcement just two days after crashing out in the third round of the Shanghai Masters to Frenchman Gael Monfils. The former world number, now seventh in the rankings, revealed on his website that he was calling time on his relationship with Annacone, who also coached Pete Sampras during his glory years.

shot at a closing double and he simply refused to back off. At one point it seemed as if the 16-time world champion would win the match without dropping a single leg but Chisnall finally ended the onslaught in the first leg of the sixth set - where Taylor failed to even get under way by hitting a starting double!

David Lynn

Englishman David Lynn ended his nine-year wait for a second European Tour success by shooting a superb final round 63 to win the Portugal Masters, where we almost got the first round of 59 in Europe. Despite finishing runner-up in last year’s US PGA Championship and enjoying an excellent 2013 season on the PGA Tour, the Englishman hadn’t won in Europe since capturing the 2004 KLM Open 224 starts ago. That changed with his success at the Oceanico Victoria Golf Course, where Scott Jamieson almost made history on Saturday as his chip from the edge of the green just missed the hole for what would have been the first 59 on the European Tour. advertise with us AND GET NOTICED

Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez says Gareth Bale could play against Malaga

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has again stressed there are no major doubts over Gareth Bale's fitness and he could feature this weekend. Reports emerged over the weekend from Madrid-based Marca, claiming that Bale had a slipped disc in his back and could require surgery. It was claimed that Real first found out about the problem during Bale's medical ahead of his record-breaking move to the Spanish capital at the start of September. But Perez has rubbished these claims, and told television show Punto Pelota: "I'm surprised. It's difficult to understand such a cruel story. "It was the first time I had heard talk of that subject (a herniated disc). The paper also wrote that I had been told about this problem during the medical. It's totally false. "It's very serious as it plays with the image of Real Madrid and Bale. It can be very damaging and is not a minor issue. We want to know why it happened.

Former champion frustrated

"It surprised us even more when we found out a reporter from the paper (Marca) called our medical team, as well as Bale's representative, and decided not to even put a line in about what they said. "It was something that was intended to do harm and that's why we are surprised. It affects the image, dignity and economic value of Bale. "The player and his team are worried because they have contracts and campaigns that this could affect. They've said he has a hernia when he doesn't and our lawyers are looking at what can be done." Perez insists that Bale could feature against Malaga and said: "Gareth is calm and ready and is hoping to play on Saturday. "Everybody knows that, because he did not have a proper pre-season, he suffered a thigh strain. "He is training well and wants to play and demonstrate that all this has just been an unpleasant and unfortunate start."

by lack of Ferrari development F ernando Alonso had some strong words to say about Ferrari's lack of development when he addressed the media after the Japanese GP. Can you finish second in the Constructors' Championship? Fernando Alonso: "Mercedes will take points off Lotus and vice-versa, but the most important thing is that we are on the podium. If we are on the podium at the next four races then it will not be a problem." You were behind the Sauber with the Ferrari engine once again at this race. Is that frustrating for you and was the way that you overtook him a sign of that frustration? FA: "No, not frustrated - to be honest Sauber have made a step forward in the past races, especially when Pirelli reintroduced the 2012 tyres. They are getting back to a similar performance level as last year. Perez and Kobayashi were very good and in fact Kobayashi was even on the podium here at Suzuka, proving that the Sauber are strong in this race. "They have a little bit less top speed compared to us

or compared to Korea when they ran with very little downforce, so we had the possibility and it was good, but to finish fourth or fifth is no big change - it is just extra points for the team. So I am happy, but nothing really more to say." Fernando Alonso missed out on a podium place after finishing 4th at the Japanese Grand Prix. Felipe Massa didn't follow team-orders in the first stint. How do you feel about that? Any problems? FA: "We cannot make a big thing out of it. We are racing and whatever we did we would have finished in the same position because we could not achieve anything more. I don't know exactly what happened, but there is zero problem. "We are trying to do our best fairly - me, the team - to score as many points as possible and sometimes it is not easy when the performance is not super. It is never easy when we are fighting for seventh and eighth place. It would be nice to come back to the old days at Ferrari of fighting over first and second and then deciding who

wins like Red Bull do - one car does two stops, one car does three stops and the finish first and second - this is a much easier life. "I am always trying to do my maximum and Ferrari are always trying to do their maximum so let's do our maximum in the last four races." It seems since Pirelli changed the tyres Ferrari have struggled. Is that the case or is it simply the team have not been able to develop the car? FA: "The problem is our development. The problem is that we didn't adapt to the tyres or had the steps that we planned. We arrived at the races in July with some updates that looked good on paper, but not so much on the track and I think that slowed down the performance improvement that we should have had. "The Pirellis are an extra thing. It is clear some teams lost a little bit of performance, some have gained a little bit of performance - like Sauber as we have said - but they had to make the changes because the other tyres explode. So it was not a decision to make one team better than another team - it was a change so we could continue racing in the championship, so there is nothing we can do."
