inaugurate the poppy appeal. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance for those that died serving their country, not only in the two World Wars, but increasingly in the numerous current conflicts across the globe. The Poppy Appeal started originally in 1922 by Major George Howson, a young infantry officer, formed the Disabled Society to help injured ex-Service men and women from the First World War. Nowadays there are around 350,000 volunteers and staff who give their time to organise the Poppy Appeal each year. Money raised continues to support the Royal British legions vital welfare work for the Armed Forces community. We hope to see your there!!

his Sunday the13th October at Levi´s Showboat from 2pm, an afternoon of live entertainment for charity. children’s faces providing special treats at Christmas and dressing up as the 3 Kings and making a great celebration. Tad, the owner of the Yorkshire Pride pubs together with the Fab 4 team have joined forces with Wayne, owner of Levi’s Showboat to raise money that is desperately needed for the orphanage home in Relleu. Pamella and Anne have together been helping the home for 15 years and since teaming up with Tad and Stewart have provided much needed essentials, the simple things, like bedding, clothes, nappies and food are just some of the items that are consistently needed and the Fab 4 battle to make sure they get it to the home. We would all like to think that the Government should be funding children’s homes but with the cutbacks in Spain hitting hard the charity Emaus are in a desperate situation. The Children are only aged between two and twelve, and now rely on the public for help and financial support. So come along this Sunday for a host of great entertainment at the Showboat in the Rincon next to Levante Club Hotel. The performing acts include Black Eyed Peas, Take That, Meat Loaf, Lady Gaga and Comedian Gary George. Donations are welcome on the day or simply go into any Yorkshire Pride Pub with your donation and ask at the bar. There are six locations, Yorkshire Pride 1 in Calle Gerona, YP2 Calle Londres and YP3 opposite the Levante Club Hotel in Avda Dr Severo Ochoa also the Why Not Bar in Calle Gerona. Or visit Wayne at the Levi’ s Showboat or Stewart at the Geordie Bar Tat next to the indoor market Benidorm.

Benidorm Moors & Christians

Last Saturday the 5th of October, Benidorm held the annual Moors & Christians festival - its 25th anniversary since the town started celebrating. The Plaza was full of residents and tourists stretching along the entire parade. The Mayor, Augustin Navarro and organizers of the parade sat and watched on as the spectacular, and very colourful costumes went by. We are in Spain, so although the parade was meant to start at 8pm it was a little later, but the atmosphere and the night in general was so lovely that nobody seemed to mind. It always has been a wonderful way to commemorate this wonderful tradition and am already looking forward to see the line-up for next year.

iTV Tonight Bargain in the Sun

E

arly this year the European Central Bank declared the Eurozone is stabilising. With that the property markets reported renewed confidence amongst buyers. But with recession still crippling many of the economies across Europe - is it really the right time for Brits to be investing overseas? All across Europe prices have dropped considerably. In Croatia for example they’re down 25%, in Greece they’ve dropped 30% and in Bulgaria by almost 40%. Across Spain across the board they’re down by 30%, but if you look closely and do your homework, in areas like Malaga and Valencia they’re down by an incredible 50%. A recent HSBC report found that 38% of retirees are considering a move abroad – that’s 5.4 million people. Last weekends programme, on ITV, Jonathan Maitland investigated the current property market in Spain and asks - is now the time to buy our bargain in the sun? THE BUYERS

Christine Walton has a budget of £200,000. She is on her first research trip to Spain and views 2 properties in the Costa Blanca Region.

Christine viewed a detached property on an Urbanisation just North of Murcia. It’s being marketed at just over £110,000. She also a detached villa with 4 bedrooms, open-plan living space and a pool - all on a 10,000sq ft plot for £240,000. George Kitching also has a budget of £200,000. Along with his wife and three children he’d like to start

a new life in the North of Spain. As a tree surgeon he would work the land and develop a resort that would tempt others to sample the more rustic life. He’s viewing an abandoned village in the Galicia region with 4 houses, three barns, a cattle shed and about 100 acres. All for £185,000.

THE ADVICE

“People who think about moving abroad, it's quite a big move, and lots of thought needs to be put in - think about the financial implications. It’s not just about ploughing all your money all your heard earned savings into your house, you also need to think about the exchange rate fluctuations, between the UK sterling and the Euro. And the other thing is really research. They talk about location, location, location. I say research research research because otherwise you’re never going to find that location anyway." – Paul Rodwell – British Consul, Alicante “I would definitely buy today in Spain. I’m seeing some incredible opportunities and there’s a general feeling around that we’re at the bottom and that the worst is behind us, even though we’re not yet out of the woods." – Mark Stucklin – Spanish Property insight

Benidorm Heroes

I would like to take the chance to congratulate four of our very own National Policemen who this summer have saved the lives of two infants. Alvaro, Caesar, Pablo and Dani unfortunately were not awarded with a medal this year at the ceremony as they were all allocated beforehand, this however caused quite a stir among the syndicate and fellow police officers but as always it’s a political matter that is being addressed accordingly. It’s nice to know that we have “Guardian Angels” and I’m sure the families of the two babies say the same! Keep up the good work boys.

Countdown Benidorm Fiestas British Fancy Dress Fun day Thursday 14th November Starts Saturday November 9th ends Wednesday 13th. Bank Holiday Days are the 11th & 12th (Banks Closed). Finale starts about 5pm with parade 60+ floats, bands etc starts at 5.30pm. Fireworks Poniente approx 9pm always after the parade ends. Banger display at 2pmeach day at the Plaza Triangular.

here are many tribute acts here in Benidorm, and most of them really good... However I have been on the coast for over 15 years and one of the best acts I have seen to date are the Cabeytū Brothers. They are two very talented young men who will have you thoroughly entertained with their musical instruments and singing. They love getting the crowd involved in their shows, it's just a real upbeat, fun, highly energetic show! Pop along to the Rock and Roll house where you can check days and times for their shows...don't forget to mention Vista for your offer! Below is a short biography on the boys, let us know at buzz@vistacostablanca what you thought of their show! During his life he was on several bands, playing covers and his own songs; the “Tren Electrico” was his first band in which he discovered himself as a singer and as well as a songwriter. Later on were “La Puesta”, “El Exodo” y “Pasaje S”, bands where he only played covers. His last project in Argentina was “Por donde no pasa el tren”, band which recorded 2 albums, making him a well known artist in the mainstream of music in San Luis and also outside this city. Now he is living in Spain enjoying his new project “Cabeytu Brothers”. DIEGO He was born on 26 July 1978 in General Pico, in La Pampa, Argentina; and he settled down in San Luis. From his childhood he remembers waking up and listen to “The King” and “The Beatles”. After that at

the age of 10 he learnt how to play the guitar and wrote his first song, and this unleashed his Rock ‘n’ roll taste. At the age of 14 he created his first teenage band, being him the drummer, but later he became the lead guitar and singer, and he was able to sing his songs and his favorite tunes. In his long musical career he recorded several songs written by him, along with some Argentinean musicians, among them some recordings with friends, cousins, uncles and his own father and brother. He got a degree as a Musical Producer which led him to build his own recording studio called “El Ciclo”, giving artists the possibility to record their music with a high quality of sound. His last project was his solo career with his band “La Babel”, with 2 records. Now he is living in Spain enjoying his new project “Cabeytu Brothers”.

What is a Segway? L

ike any invention that is ahead of its time, the Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is often misunderstood. A happy smile reflected in the faces of the Segway PT riders may suggest that this is just a toy. But make no mistake. Although it is incredibly fun to use a Segway PT, it is a means of official transport designed for modern life. You can travel for miles and miles. The Segway PT can take you to places you would not be able to access by bicycle or car (including inside many stores, offices, businesses, airports, lifts and trains). Although they are ideal for short trips of 8km or less, the Segway PT can travel up to 38km on a single battery charge (depending on terrain, loading and riding style). Ride a Segway PT and enjoy the pleasure of staying active without the inconveniences that come with cars and public transport. Move about the streets together with your friends who are walking without giving up a good conversation. Manoeuvre easily through crowds without invading their personal space. In addition to moving in harmony with those around you, it is also environmentally friendly, as the Segway PT produces no emissions and does not need fuel. Thought and action, a single concept. Ride a Segway PT and see how it stays up without support, balancing perfectly. Segway engineers call it “dynamic stability control of a closed cycle” and to you it will simply seem like magic. You will soon feel that the Segway PT is an extension of your body. Feel safe, comfortable and in full control, whether it travels at speeds of up to 20kmph, or goes at walking pace. How long does it take to feel part of a Segway PT? For most people only a few minutes. For some, even less. With a Segway PT, you will no longer have such a routine. Daily activities will become experiences worth savouring and you will see a completely different angle to a journey that you make so often. Ride a Segway PT and you will be transported in more ways than one. Handling a Segway PT makes you feel something that you have never experienced before, because there has never been anything like it. You instinctively try to find the balance, as you would with any device with two wheels. But almost immediately you can tell that the Segway PT finds its own balance, and it is like it has converted into an extension of yourself. Lean forward slightly and you will see that the Segway PT will move only in response to your movements. Do you remember having a dream that felt like you could fly? With the Segway PT you will feel freedom, exhilaration and confidence. Feel the sensation of the ground moving under you without touching it. This is like floating above the surface. It gives you the feeling of power and speed and also you will notice the intensity of absolute control. Everything feels natural and instinctive. This is what it feels like to ride a Segway PT.

Terra Natura expands the number of arapapas and trumpeters to create breeding groups The biological collection of the nature park Terra Natura Benidorm do not stop growing up. The last animal to reach its facilities have been six new copies of arapapá (Cochelearius cochelearius) and trumpeter aligrís (Psophia crepitans), which have been moved to the complex with the aim of establishing two groups so they can have babies in captivity both species. The facilities has hosted, in total, three birds of each species, a male and two female of trumpeter and two males Error! Hyperlink reference not valid.and one female of arapapá. The reaction of new birds to their new environment has been normal, although in the aviary will be introduced in the coming weeks gradually to avoid problems of adaptation and thus ensure success in the process. Veterinarians have made only a stool test for each, since in his zoo before leaving home have had their various analytical optimal result. Normally live in mangrove swamps, lakes and shores from Mexico to Peru and Argentina. Unlike other herons, they always mate outside the nest. Moreover, the trumpeters live in the Amazon, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and northeastern Peru. This

sla Cristina can be found on the corner of “The Food Street” in Calle Gerona Benidorm. Pepe, Maria Luisa and their staff will welcome you with a big smile and fabulous food and music! Whatever you choose on their extensive menu, you will not be disappointed. Fresh fish and meats, along with some of the best rice dishes in benidorm are among their specialities. I often come here when I am looking for menu of the day as there is such a varied choice and each day you’ll find something different. You can sit on the large cool terrace or inside the air conditioned comfortable restaurant, either way you will be entertained while you dine, by the sounds of

wonderful live music. The restaurant opened its doors in August of 2009 and is the second for the couple who were the owners of “El Cocedero de Mariscos..El Arabi” situated in Alfaz del Pi. They wanted to be part of the hustle and bustle and be able to introduce their fabulous dishes with authentic Spanish recipes to the English crowd, hence their move to Benidorm. Next time you want to stop for a quick Tapa and a beer, or want to enjoy a four course menu, choose Isla Cristina. Don’t forget to mention Vista or take the advert from the Local guide and you’ll be treated to a bottle of wine with two main meals! Happy Dining!

Once there you won’t want to leave your table all day, food is simple but good and very reasonable. Darren the host is a great guy, making your visit to refuel even more enjoyable with his cheeky charm!

lthough we are still having heat waves, and people are sunbathing as though we are in the height of summer; Autumn is here!! As they are now teaching my 2 year old in nursery.. “Se Caen las hojas” or “The leaves are falling”. We are starting to put away our open toed sandals and bringing out the Autumn/Winter shoes and boots. They don’t have to be brown and boring!, this season gives us intricate details with buckles, studs and stacked heels, that way you can enjoy lunch at your favourite restaurant or attend one of the many fiestas in style. The mix of rich colours and smooth leather combined with western and metallic accents add a hip-eclectic feel to any wardrobe. I personally have my eye on a pair of loafers in “Martin” you can find one of their shops on the Avenida Mediterraneo just up from The Picadilly Pub, the other is in the walk. Street of the old town just below “la Palmera” coffee shop opposite Springfield. Go on... Give your feet a little treat!

Horoscope ARIES

On Monday, you are a turtle entirely uncomfortable with the idea of sunlight, and Tuesday is a stay-inside-your-shell kind of day, too. It won’t be until midweek that you’ll be ready for the outside world, although then you’ll be ready with a vengeance. Wednesday and Thursday see you marching boldly forward, introducing yourself to strangers, putting foreign foods into your gullet and being generally pioneering. On Friday and Saturday you have to slow down a bit for career reasons (you can’t come across as too hasty in that realm right now), but Sunday you’ll stretch your legs again.

TAURUS

You wish you could take things lightly on Monday and Tuesday but that just isn’t your personality right now. Everything is significant. Emotions are intense. You may feel a surge of jealousy over something it’s ridiculous to be jealous about. Wednesday and Thursday, practice not coming across as righteous - and not feeling righteous. Modesty should be your modus operandi. Don’t take your friends for granted, remind them how much they mean to you. By Friday you’ll be feeling more comfortable in your own skin (and in your social standing).

GEMINI

Health is at top of your mind on Monday. The slightest hint of a symptom sends you searching the Internet for information about what may be going on. Little may be going on at all, but interest in your well-being is, you know, a healthy interest. Tuesday you’re observant of your body as well as other areas - you are a detective. Wednesday and Thursday see you probing deeply. Friday, unfortunately, is a day of more questions than answers and Saturday yields little in the way of new discoveries, but on Sunday makes a week’s worth of clues come together.

CANCER

The ship is rocking and heaving and throwing you all around. You’re in no position to sit down and sign something - your signature would just slide off the page. This is what Monday and Tuesday are like. By Wednesday, the ship will have steadied a bit, but rather than be overly ambitious, you should invest your energy in yourself, do something self-nurturing. The idea of being social isn’t very appealing on Thursday, and Friday and Saturday are stay-at-home days as well. In dealing with others on Sunday, be as flexible as possible.

LEO

To figure out what’s going on in the garden, sometimes you have to uproot everything and take a look at the soil. Monday and Tuesday, the situation below the surface is finally getting some of your attention. Sound boring? Perhaps. But Wednesday and Thursday are the exact opposite of boring - they are fiery, fun, cruising-down-the-highwaywith-the-top-down sort of days, full of romance and exciting roadside distractions. Friday and Saturday, your enthusiasm hasn’t let up a bit, and Sunday is about you and you-know-who. (Some advice: Don’t cling.)

VIRGO

Your restlessness on Monday and Tuesday is useful. It’s due to an unquenchable intellectual curiosity, and intellectual curiosity obviously - is what has led to the advances that the modern world is built on in terms of science, philosophy and the arts. You’re a genius! Sadly, some forces (probably in the family realm) are going to prevent you from making good on your genius Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday and Saturday are open to your creative whims. And Sunday, an experimental mood guides your day, so be open to anything.

26

LIBRA

Money makes the world go ‘round, they say, and it’s certainly all you can think about on Monday and Tuesday. Not that you’re thinking like a greedy person, you’re just thinking. What are things worth? What do you want to do with your money? These questions deserve as much consideration as you’re willing to invest in them- maybe a conversation along these lines would interest a friend on Wednesday or Thursday. Friday and Saturday find you a bit down about something in your past, but a jolt of romance on Sunday brings you back to the present.

SCORPIO

Rebirth and regeneration are key themes at the beginning of the week. The old leaves are being replaced by new ones (at least metaphorically). You feel more connected to your friends and they feel more connected to you, as will be obvious on Wednesday and, well, every day after that this week. You find yourself doing things you wouldn’t normally do on your own on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday everyone you know is simply in a great mood - these are rare, wonderful times. Problems at home or with your family might arise Sunday.

SAGITTARIUS

It’s okay to be moody on Monday and Tuesday. Try not to be moody around other people, if you can help it, but don’t beat yourself up for your feelings. And besides, by Wednesday, everything will go on the upswing and stay that way. Thursday will be a jovial day, too. Bringing your lunch to work on Friday is a smart idea - as the week winds to a close, strategies for financial shrewdness figure into your thoughts - and Saturday, even though you want to go shopping, not doing so is a much better plan. Communication and creativity define Sunday.

CAPRICORN

You have a decision to make on Monday or Tuesday, and you have tons of friends who can help you make it. Rely on them more than you usually might (after all, you’ve surrounded yourself with smart people and they know of what they speak). Certain things might not seem possible on Wednesday or Thursday, but they are possible - so long as you persevere and don’t opt out (emotionally) too early on. On the other hand, keep your emotions in check and as separate as possible from tasks at hand. Friday and Saturday are truly wonderful days, and Sunday finds you babbling excitedly about the future.

AQUARIOUS

The thoughts you have about your career at the start of the week are good thoughts to be having, healthy thoughts to be having. You are an ambitious, goal-oriented person, and while this sometimes produces stress in your life, in the long run you will have something to show for it. Try to relieve some of this stress on Wednesday or Thursday with a social activity or, better yet, several social activities. Friday and Saturday will return you to the business of keeping your head down and getting things done. But Sunday? You haven’t felt more brilliant (or more attractive) in a while.

PISCIS

You are swimming in cloudy waters on Monday and Tuesday, and some of the fish nearby are starting to appear suspiciously more like sharks. Are they sharks? Do they have your best interests at heart? No sense getting paranoid, but pay attention this week - especially on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday has you so surrounded by friends that there’s very little chance anyone would be able to sneak up on you, and Saturday (an easy day) and Sunday (an intellectually stimulating day) offer a lot in the way of pleasure.

It’s all you need for a great read.

I had a party to go to on Saturday night so I thought I could make a day of it and start off with a relaxing massage followed by some lunch in the Old Town with friends. Not before brekie for me is a traditional English breakfast at the Yorkshire Pride with a nice cupa and then a casual walk along the sea front. Then comes the massage. Having experienced a range of massage therapies in the past such as Swedish, Chinese and Shiatsu I was looking forward to my first experience of massage in Benidorm. For many years I was used to working a long hard week in the UK and then at weekends take time to visit the Spa for Jacuzzi Sauna and a massage also when i’m on holiday I find it is a way to unwind and relax. So who doesn't like having their muscles kneaded, prodded and beaten into total relaxation? If it’s something you enjoy or if you are a first timer then Sawasdeeka is for you a traditional Thai massage in Benidorm near the beach. You can enjoy a traditional thai massage with oil, lomi-lomi massage or a range of other styles and

treatments that include, reflexology (foot massage), hot stone, thai herbal, 4 hands massage and facial massage. Tradidional Thai massage is based on stretching, mobilization of joints and pressure points and meridians on stimulating blood circulation, balancing the internal organs, ralaxation and wellbeing. Sawasdeeka is so nice and comfortable the massage beds are big and strong unlike some I have experienced in the past that you feel like you could fall off the side or the table moves you think you could end up on the floor, well not here everything is high quality and very clean, they even provide you with disposable pants to wear just for the occasion!! Harry Redknapp insists Football Association are 'clueless' Harry Redknapp has hit out at the Football Association, insisting the English game is being run by people who they were too direct during Euro 2012. "This isn't about them giving the England job to me or Roy Hodgson, but English football being run by people who really haven't got a clue. And they get to pick the England manager!" Harry Redknapp "If you look at England against Italy at Euro 2012, and I know it was difficult for Roy because he had just come in, but when your best pass completion statistic is from Joe Hart to Andy Carroll - goalkeeper to big lump of centre-forward, bypassing nine outfield players - you know you've got a problem," he said. "No other major country would record a stat like that. Don't we all want to see England play the game properly?"

I

n the first part of a serialisation of his forthcoming autobiography, Redknapp has revealed in the Daily Mail that he feels English football is in the wrong hands. But he insists it is not a diatribe at the FA over their failure to appoint him ahead of Roy Hodgson in early 2012. "I wouldn't trust the FA to show me a good manager if their lives depended on it. How would they know? What clubs have they ever run? Who do they speak to who really knows the game?" Redknapp says. "This isn't about them giving the England job to me or Roy Hodgson, but English football being run by people who really haven't got a clue. And they get to pick the England manager!" Redknapp admits he fears England will struggle if they get to the World Cup in Brazil and suggested

Rodgers On talk of England's style of play, Redknapp confirmed that he would have brought in the then Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers as his number two - underlining the system he would have used. "If I had become the England manager I would have taken Brendan Rodgers as my number two," he revealed. "He had players at Swansea passing it like Franz Beckenbauer. You know how his teams are going to play before you kick off. They are going to pass, they are going to take risks; but England do not have that identity. "I'll admit, I thought it was mine. Everyone seemed so certain, everyone I had met from all parts of the game seemed utterly convinced it was my job" Harry Redknapp "Now we have Roy Hodgson who will keep England

organised, for sure. I just hope he will also be a little bit bold, open up and try to get England playing the type of football we all want to see. "Look at Brendan at Liverpool now - he still knows how he wants to play. He got rid of Andy Carroll because he wasn't in that plan. That is how Spain operate: this is how we play and we don't compromise. "My thinking on Brendan was this: if he can do it with players from the lower leagues at Swansea what can he do with Rio and Terry or Rooney and Gerrard?" And Redknapp revealed that Rodgers was 'up for it' when he approached him with the idea. "When Tottenham played Swansea on April 1, 2012 I pulled Brendan after the game and said that if all the speculation about me and England was true would he consider coming to the European Championships in the summer as my part-time coach? "I told him I wanted England to play with as much technical ambition as Swansea. He was up for it. "If I got the job, he said, he would speak to the people at Swansea to get their permission. 'It would be a great experience for you, Brendan,' I told him. 'I want England to play like you play. Pass the ball, play and play and play.' "Of all the reasons doing the rounds for me not becoming England manager, the compensation issue makes most sense" Harry Redknapp "It didn't work out. On April 1, I was contemplating the way forward for England with Brendan Rodgers - and on April 29 the FA offered the job to Roy Hodgson. "I'll admit, I thought it was mine. Everyone seemed so certain, everyone I had met from all parts of the game seemed utterly convinced it was my job." Popular Redknapp did reveal that all England's top names at the time wanted him to get the job. "Everyone said I was the people's choice, the only choice. All the senior players seemed to be up for me to get the job," he continued. "I got quite a few text messages at the time from players saying they would love me to manage England: Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry. "But the FA went for Roy Hodgson to be the England manager - a man who is more their cup of tea. "I have no hard feelings towards Roy. I phoned him to wish him good luck, and I meant it. He has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world. I hope England have the confidence to come up with a blueprint before the tournament in Brazil next summer because the last World Cup was a disaster."

Third time lucky for Tigers? Leicester Tigers skipper Toby Flood is hoping to be able to do something that neither Martin Johnson nor Neil Back were able to do before him and lead his side to victory at Ravenhill in their Heineken Cup opener on Friday night.

Sebastian Vettel

should be ranked alongside Schumacher and Fangio

Sebastian Vettel will deserve to be ranked alongside F1’s legendary greats Michael Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio if he claims a fourth successive World Championship, according to Red Bull boss Christian Horner. Following his resounding victory in Korea, the German will clinch this year’s championship as early as this week if he triumphs in Sunday’s Japanese GP and Fernando Alonso, his nearest challenger in the standings, finishes ninth or lower. Only Fangio and Schumacher have won four consecutive titles in the history of the sport, and asked whether Vettel deserves to be compared to such legendary figures if and when he completes his latest championship triumph, an adamant Horner replied: “Should he achieve winning four titles in a row, people will have to. He has got to be right up there, he has got to be. “The level that he is performing at is unbelievable in many respects. We know that Mark [Webber, Vettel’s team-mate] is a very talented, very quick racing driver and matching him against that he has been hugely impressive. And he’s still developing.

England take on Montenegro on Friday 11th October

they begin the final leg of the journey to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Wayne Rooney says he is positive England will win the upcoming matches and qualify for the World Cup in Brazil. England go in to the final two games of Group H knowing that wins against Montenegro and Poland at Wembley will be enough to ensure qualification – however, despite his confidence the striker was also keen to guard against complacency. “We're going to do it. We're going to get to the World Cup. "I'm confident, we're confident, but you always have to be sure you're not over-confident. These are going to be two tough games for us, but we're good enough to do it."

Rooney was forced to sit out England’s previous two games due to a head injury sustained in training, but has been in scintillating form so far this term for Manchester United – scoring five goals in his last six games. He appeared to be limping in the closing stages of his side’s 2-1 Premier League victory at Sunderland on Saturday, but was quick to allay fears the injury would keep him out of the qualifying games. "I've got a little knock but I'll be fine for England," he said. "I can't wait to be honest. As soon as the Sunderland game had finished, I started to think about England." England have qualified for eight of the past nine major tournaments, and the 27-year-old says the prospect at not being in the World Cup in Brazil does not bear thinking about. He added: "Would it be unthinkable not to get to Rio? Of course, this is crunch time. "They are going to be two tough games, though, because Montenegro and Poland are good sides and their best qualities are on the counter attack. "We will have to try and break them down and make sure we don't get caught out at the back. I think we'll do it, but nobody should think it's going to be easy."

Wladimir Klitschko retains world titles with wide points win over Alexander Povetkin Wladimir Klitschko retained his WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles with a straightforward points win against Alexander Povetkin. The Ukrainian, who improved to 61-3, was taking on an undefeated Russian opponent in Moscow but made light of the hostile surroundings to completely dominate the fight. Povetkin was knocked down on four occasions - three times in the seventh round alone - as Klitschko raced away to win by the incredibly wide margin of 119-104 on all three judges' scorecards.

"I kept landing the punches, but he stayed in there. I believe it was a deserved win, but I think I can improve still." Wladimir Klitschko A measure of Klitschko's dominance was illustrated by the fact that the only thing stopping him from getting the maximum 120 points was a deduction for excessive pushing in round 11. "That was a tough bit of work, he's a real fighter," Klitschko said. "I kept landing the punches, but he stayed in there. I believe it was a deserved win, but I think I can improve still."

A hard-earned 3-1 win from behind against Everton, which brought some wonderful attacking play punctuated by several hairy moments in defence. City have the best goal difference in the top flight after scoring 17 goals thus far, but only nine teams have conceded more than the Blues, who were also worryingly porous against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. While the defence is a concern, especially now that Vincent Kompany has suffered a recurrence of his troublesome groin injury, Manuel Pellegrini should possibly focus on solving that particular problem by addressing the balance in midfield. If City are to continue to progress in tough away trips to West Ham and Chelsea, Yaya Toure and Fernandinho must retain the balance they showed in the first half of the Manchester derby. Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo have instantly struck up a rapport in attack, but it seems the midfield - and now the defence, if Kompany is ruled out for another few weeks - will take a little more time to gel.

Jack Wilshere says there will be no repeat of the "mistake" which saw him pictured smoking outside a nightclub last week. The Arsenal midfielder was out celebrating his side's Champions league victory over Napoli when a photographer caught him with a cigarette in his mouth. Wilshere was spoken to by Arsene Wenger but returned to the team at West Brom, where his second-half equaliser earned a 1-1 draw and sent Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League.

And speaking to the club website, he said: "Players make mistakes. "I am not a smoker. I spoke with the boss and he asked me what happened, I explained to him and we sorted it out. Jack Wilshere "He put me in the team and hopefully I repaid him. I am not a smoker so I think that will be my last (cigarette)."
