Μόλις είχα βγεί από την 18 του Porto Carras με ένα par από τη μια και τη σιγουριά της τρίτης θέσης για την ομάδα μου από την άλλη. Μαζί με τον Νικηφόρο και τον Τζίμη καθόμαστε στο club house του γηπέδου και δροσιζόμαστε. Τους γνώρισα μέσα από το παιχνίδι και δύο γύροι μέσα στο γήπεδο είναι αρκετοί, ώστε να έχω την αίσθηση ότι γνωριζόμαστε πολύ περισσότερο.Η μαγεία του παιχνιδιού που λέγεται γκολφ. Περιμένοντας την ανακοίνωση των αποτελεσμάτων η κουβέντα οδηγήθηκε στο πως ξεκίνησε ο καθένας να ασχολείται με το γκολφ. «Ρε Βαγγέλη , εσύ πως ξεκίνησες ;» ρώτησε ο Νικηφόρος. Η μνήμη μου πήγε 8 χρόνια πίσω. Διευθυντής φωτογραφίας των ενθέτων περιοδικών της εφημερίδας «ΤΟ ΒΗΜΑ» τότε, είχε σταλεί μια πρόσκληση από την Aegean Airlines, στο «ΒΗΜΑGAZINO» που προσκαλούσε τους δημοσιογράφους του περιοδικού σε ένα τουρνουά γκολφ στη Κρήτη. Το 1ο Aegean ProAm . Από εκείνη την αποδοχή της πρόσκλησης ξεκίνησαν όλα. Το 1ο Aegean ProAm με έκανε να αγαπήσω το γκολφ Το 1ο Aegean ProAm με έμαθε να παίζω γκολφ. Οκτώ χρόνια μετά, το Aegean ProAm είναι πλέον ένα από πιο επιτυχημένα ProAm της Ευρώπης και εγώ παθιασμένος με το γκολφ περισσότερο από ποτέ.

Τον Νοέμβριο του 1965 βρέθηκαν στην Αθήνα τρία από τα μεγαλύτερα ονόματα του παγκόσμιου γκολφ. Οι Tony Lema, Roberto Devicenzo και o Gene Sarazen με αφορμή το Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, μια σειρά αγώνων που διοργάνωνε η Shell Oil σε όλο τον κόσμο, έδωσαν ένα καταπληκτικό αγώνα με διαιτητή τον Gene Sarazen στο νεότευκτο τότε γήπεδο γκολφ της

Γλυφάδας. Ο αγώνας ήταν συγκλονιστικός και κρίθηκε στην 18η τρύπα με τον Tony Lema να επικρατεί με σκορ 67με μόλις ένα κτύπημα λιγότερο έναντι του Roberto De Vicenzo που έκανε σκορ 68. To World Golf Series από την SHELL ήταν μια εβδομαδιαία τηλεοπτική σειρά που έδειχνε η αμερικανική τηλεόραση από το 1962 έως και το 1970. Ο
συγκεκριμένος αγώνας μεταδόθηκε στις 8 Ιανουαρίου 1966 και επτά μήνες μετά ο Tony Lema πέθανε σε αεροπορικό δυστύχημα. In 1965, Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf filmed a match between Argentinian golfer Roberto DeVicenzo and American golfer Tony Lema. The golf match between Roberto DeVicenzo
and Tony Lema played at Glyfada Golf Club in Athens and originally aired on January 8, 1966. Gene Sarazen narrated the exciting match in which Lema defeated DeVicenzo on the eighteenth hole. Tony Lema shot 67 and Robert De Vicenzo shot 68. Shell's Wonderful World of Golf was a weekly television series that aired from 1962 through 1970 and
was the first golf matches ever filmed for a television series. Roberto DeVicenzo, an Argentinean, has won over 100 titles around the world and represented his country 17 times in World Cup Competition. He was inducted in the PGA Hall of Fame in 1979. DeVicenzo won nine PGA Tour Events and the 1967 British Open. Tony Lema burst onto the golf

scene in 1957 and quickly established himself as a force on the PGA Tour. Known as 'Champagne' Tony Lema, for his style of life, he won 11 PGA Tour titles and the 1964 British Open. Ο Τάκης Γκώνιας, υπήρξε ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα ταλέντα του Ελληνικού ποδοσφαίρου με διεθνείς συμμετοχές καθώς και με τη θητεία του στον Ολυμπιακό. Η αγάπη του για το ποδόσφαιρο, η εμπειρία και η θέλησή του να προσφέρει για αυτό τον οδήγησε στην ιδιότητα του προπονητή. Εκτός της απαιτούμενης εκπαίδευσης και της πιστοποίησης του ως UEFA PRO, έχει παρακολουθήσει προετοιμασίες και προπονήσεις των μεγαλυτέρων ευρωπαϊκών συλλόγων, ενώ ως προπονητής δεν είναι μόνος του αλλά έχει ολοκληρωμένο προπονητικό team. Ο Γκώνιας ξεκινά την προπονητική του καριέρα την πιο δύσκολη στιγμή για το Ελληνικό ποδόσφαιρο, η οικονομική κρίση από την μία και η αναξιοπιστία των πρωταθλημάτων από την άλλη καθιστούν αυτό το εγχείρημα δυσκολότερο. Εμείς που τον γνωρίσαμε ως επαγγελματία του γκολφ, πιστεύουμε στο ταλέντο και στο όραμα του να δει το ποδόσφαιρο τουλάχιστον στην Ελλάδα, περισσότερο υγιή αγνωστικό χώρο με μεγαλύτερες ευκαιρίες για τους αθλητές μας. Οι γνώσεις και ο χαρακτήρας του θα τον κατατάξουν στην θέση που του αξίζει, δηλαδή στην κορυφή!
Takis Gonias was one of the greatest players in the history of Greek football. He played in international leagues and was a long time member of the Olympiacos Football Club. His love for football, experience and desire to give back to the sport led to his becoming a coach. In addition to the required training and certification to become a UEFA PRO, he has attended practices and preparations at the largest European clubs, and as a coach he works as a member of an integrated coaching team. Gonias began his coaching career at a very difficult time for Greek football; on the one hand there was the recession and on the other, the unreliability of the tournaments, both making the venture more difficult. We came to know him as a pro golfer and believe his talent and vision will lead football, at least in Greece, to a healthier competitive sport that will offer greater opportunities to our athletes. His accomplishments and character will cement the ranking he deserves, at the top!

The competition was organised by Women’s Athena Club and the Hellenic Golf Federation. 60 golfers, both men and women, participated. The winner of the 1st Category of Men was the young Vasilis Koumpakis with 78 & 76 strokes. The best score of the competition was by Michalis Saroglou with 75 strokes, who could not unfortunately sustain his lead and finished in 3rd place after Christos Nikolopoulos from Rhodes.

ο διήμερο 20 & 21 Απριλίου 2013 διεξήχθει το Εαρινό Κύπελλο γκολφ στις εγκαταστάσεις του γηπέδου γκολφ της Γλυφάδας. Ο αγώνας διοργανώθηκε απο τον όμιλο γυναικών "Αθηνά" σε συνεργασία με την αθλητική επιτροπή της ΕΟΓ. Έλαβαν μερος 60 παίκτες άνδρες και γυναίκες. Νκητής στην 1η κατηγορία ανδρών αναδείχθηκε ο νεαρός Βασίλης Κουμπάκης με σκορ 78 & 76
χτυπήματα. Το καλύτερο σκορ του αγώνα ήρθε την 1η ημέρα απο τον Μιχάλη Σαρόγλου με 75 χτυπήματα ο οποίος δυστηχώς δεν μπόρεσε να κρατήσει την διαφορά και κατέλαβε την 3η θέση πίσω απο την Χρήστο Νικόπουλο απο την Ρόδο. Τα σκορ του Εαρινού Κυπέλλου 2013 είναι αλήθεια οτι δεν ήταν και τα καλύτερα δυνατά για τους παίκτες της προ εθνικής ομάδας. Την 1η ημέρα είχαμε σκορ 75 απο τον Μιχάλη Σαρόγλου αλλά την 2η ημέρα δεν είχε ανάλογη συνέχεια.
Ο νικητής Βασίλης Κουμπάκης είχε σκορ 78 & 76. Το Εαρινό Κύπελλο αποτελεί μέρος μιας σειράς αγώνων για το τρέχον έτος που θα ολοκληρωθεί με την διεξαγωγή του Πανελληνίου πρωταθλήματος strokeplay και στόχος της ΕΟΓ ειναι να παρουσιαστούν καλύτερα σκορ στο μέλλον κυρίως απο τους αθλητές της προ εθνικής ομάδας. Έχουν προγραμματιστεί training camps όπου μέσω αυτών ευελπιστούμε να έχουμε καλύτερα σκορ και να υπάρξει σταθερότητα στο παιχνίδι τους.

The scores achieved at the 2013 Spring Cup were not the best for the players of the national team. On the first day Michalis Saroglou achieved a 75, but the second day was a disappointment. The winner, Vasilis Koumpakis scored 78 & 76 on the first and second day, respectively. The Spring Cup is one of a series of tournaments in 2013, ending with the Pan-Hellenic Strokeplay championship and the objective of the Hellenic Golf Federation is to achieve better scores in the future, mainly by athletes of the national team. Training camps have been scheduled in the effort to improve the scores and consistency of the athletes.

BOY WONDER Το Πανελλήνιο Πρωτάθλημα Matchplay διεξήχθη στις εγκαταστάσεις του γηπέδου γκολφ στην Γλυφάδα το διάστημα 9-12/5/13. The Pan-Hellenic Matchplay Tournament was held at the Glyfada Golf Course between the 9th and 12th of May, 2013.
την 1η κατηγορία Ανδρών προκρίθηκαν στην φάση των νοκ άουτ αγώνων 8 αθλητές. Νικητής αναδείχθηκε ο Χρήστος Νικόπουλος από τον Όμιλο Γκολφ Αφάντου όπου στον τελικό επικράτησε του Σταύρου Παρθένη από τον Όμιλο Γκολφ Γλυφάδας Αθηνών ενώ την 3η θέση κατέκτησε ο Νίκος Ευθυμιάδης επικρατώντας του Στέφανου Στέφα επίσης από τον Όμιλο Γκολφ Γλυφάδας Αθηνών. Ιδιαίτερη αναφορά θα πρέπει να γίνει στον νεαρό Στέφα ο οποίος αν και δεν κατάφερε να προκριθεί στον μεγάλο τελικό χάνοντας στην πρώτη extra τρύπα της παράτασης, στον ημιτελικό από τον Παρθένη ήταν εντούτοις, η μεγάλη έκπληξη του πρωταθλήματος με την απόδοση του που αφήνει πολλές υποσχέσεις για το μέλλον. Στην 2η κατηγορία ανδρών νικητής ήταν ο Γιώργος Αθανασόπουλος επικρατώντας στον τελικό του Βαγγέλη Κοντού. Στην κατηγορία Seniors νικητής αναδείχθηκε ο Νώντας Δρακωτός επικρατώντας του Γιώργου Αρώνη. Χαρακτηριστικό του πρωταθλήματος ήταν ότι όλοι οι αγώνες κρίθηκαν στις λεπτομέρειες με πολλά matches να πηγαίνουν σε παράταση. Οι αγωνιστικές υποχρεώσεις της ΕΟΓ συνεχίζονται με την συμμετοχή των αθλητών της στον Διεθνή αγώνα της Κέρκυρας (23-26/5/13) πριν την συμμετοχή της εθνικής ομάδας στο Turkish Amateur Open στην Αττάλεια (30/5-2/6/13)

he Pan-Hellenic Matchplay Tournament was held at the Glyfada Golf Course between the 9th and 12th of May, 2013. Eight athletes qualified in the knock-out phase of the 1st Category for Men. Christos Nikolopoulos from the Afandou Golf Club was the winner of the tournament, Stavros Parthenis from the Glyfada Golf Club of Athens the runner-up, with Nikos Efthimiadis in 3rd place, followed by Stefanos Stefas, both from the Glyfada Golf Club. Young Stefas played an excellent game, despite not qualifying for the final after losing the first extra
hole. However, the biggest surprise of the championship was Parthenis, whose performance promises great things for the future. Giorgos Athanasopoulos was the winner of the 2nd Category for Men, defeating Vangelis Kontos in the final. Nontas Drakotos was the winner of the Senior Catagory, defeating Giorgos Aronis. All matches in the tournament came down to the last stroke, many requiring an extra hole. Athletes from the Hellenic Golf Federation will also participate in the International Tournament on Corfu (23-26 May, 2013) and the Turkish Amateur Open at Antalya (30 May – 2 June, 2013).

ριν από το ίντερνετ, την τηλεόραση, πριν ακόμα και από το ραδιόφωνο, η επιρροή που είχε το γκολφ στη φαντασία του κοινού περιοριζόταν κυρίως στο γραπτό λόγο. Τα ηρωικά επιτεύγματα αθλητών όπως ο Harry Vardon, ο Walter Hagen και ο αθάνατος Bobby Jones καταγράφηκαν για πρώτη φορά στους πιστούς του γκολφ στις πρωινές εφημερίδες. Ο Μπέρναρντ Ντάργουιν ήταν αυτός που εφηύρε τη δημοσιογραφία γκολφ όπως την ξέρουμε σήμερα. Ήταν ο πρώτος δημοσιογράφος γκολφ που κατέγραψε γεγονότα και νούμερα, και το έκανε με χάρη κι εξυπνάδα, δημιουργώντας ένα εντελώς προσωπικό στιλ. "Από την πρώτη στιγμή που άρχισε να ασχολείται με τη δημοσιογραφία γκολφ, τα κείμενα που έγραφε τακτικά για την εφημερίδα The Times του Λονδίνου και για σαράντα πέντε ολόκληρα χρόνια, καθώς και οι στοχαστικές μελέτες του για το εβδομαδιαίο περιοδικό Country Life είχαν μια ποιότητα που κανείς δεν έχει μπορέσει να προσεγγίσει ποτέ," έγραψε ο Herbert Warren Wind. "Είμαστε πολύ τυχεροί που αυτός ο άνθρωπος αγαπούσε τόσο το γκολφ που απλά δεν σταμάτησε ποτέ να γράφει γι’ αυτό." Παρόλα αυτά, οι αναγνώστες του αντιλαμβάνονταν αμέσως τα κείμενά του. Το να διαβάζει κανείς μια ιστορία του Ντάργουιν ήταν σα να τοποθετείται στο κέντρο της δράσης.
Η ειλικρίνεια και η αμεσότητα των κειμένων του έκανε τους αναγνώστες να νομίζουν πως ήταν παρόντες σε ιστορικές στιγμές χαρακτήριζαν τη γραφή του Ντάργουιν. Ποτέ δεν προσποιήθηκε ότι είχε παρευρεθεί σε αγώνες στους οποίους δεν ήταν πράγματι παρών κι όμως οι αφηγήσεις του ποτέ δε σταμάτησαν να αναδύουν μια παραμυθένια μαγεία. Η ανταπόκρισή του για τη νίκη του Bobby Jones’ το 1926 στο Royal Lytham & St Annes, φέρνει στο νου μας τη Μπαλλάντα του Γέρου Ναυτικού, περιγράφοντας το αποκορύφωμα του τουρνουά με καθηλωτική αμεσότητα. “Ο βοηθόςς της ομάδας του ήρθε προς το μέρος μας, περπατώντας γρήγορα και ζωηρά, σα να έφερνε σπουδαία νέα. Μπορεί να τρέφω μια βάσιμη δυσπιστία για τους θεατές και τις ιστορίες τους, αυτός όμως έδειχνε καλοπροαίρετος, νηφάλιος και στερούμενος φαντασίας.
Κι έτσι τον έπιασα και τον ρώτησα τι μαντάτα μας φέρνει. Όταν μου είπε πως ο Bobby ήταν two under fours, σκέφτηκα ότι μάλλον έλεγε κι αυτός ψέματα όπως όλοι, όμως έλεγε την αλήθεια, γιατί ο Bobby είχε κάνει όλες τις τρύπες από την έκτη μέχρι τη δωδέκατη σε 24 κτυπήματα. Μετά από αυτό ο αγώνας δεν ήταν τίποτα άλλο παρά ένας θρίαμβος.” Πέρα από τη βαθιά εκτίμηση που έτρεφε για τους καλούς παίκτες και τα καλά τουρνουά, τον Ντάργουιν τον συνέπαιρναν τα γήπεδα του γκολφ και το design τους. Τη χρονιά που το The Open επέστρεψε στο Royal St George’s για 14η φορά, δεν μπόρεσε να μην αφηγηθεί την αγάπη του για τη λέσχη της οποίας τέλεσε Πρόεδρος μεταξύ 1952 και 1961. Ο Ντάργουιν αποκαλεί την par-5 14th “Διώρυγα του Σουέζ” έτσι, επειδή ”πολλές από τις δεύτερες βολές σ’ αυτήν καταλήγουν σε έναν τάφο γεμάτο νερό”. Στο βιβλίο του Classic Golf Holes περιγράφει την par-3 έκτη, “Την Παρθένα”, ως “απότομη, αμμώδη και, εν ολίγοις, δεινή, με μαύρα ξύλα να σημαδεύουν την πρόσοψή της, μα αλίμονο! Δε χρειάζεται πια να πλησιάζουμε και πολύ τον πυρήνα της: πλέον περιοριζόμαστε στο περίγραμμά της ”. Πάνω απ’ όλα, η γραφή του είναι διαχρονική. "Για μένα, ένα μεγάλο μέρος της γοητείας του οφειλόταν στο ότι ήταν πολύ κοντά στον αναγνώστη. Μας ΜΙΛΟΥΣΕ, μας ζητούσε συγνώμη, μας φώναζε, δε δίσταζε να εκτεθεί, μας έκανε να γελάμε μαζί του και, όλα αυτά, στην προσπάθειά του να μας αποκαλύψει την αστείρευτη αγάπη του για το γκολφ," έγραψε ο Ben Crenshaw στον επίλογό του στο Golf Between Two Wars (Γκολφ Μεταξύ των Δύο Πολέμων), μια επανέκδοση του αυθεντικού κειμένου του Ντάργουιν, που γράφτηκε το 1944. efore the internet, television or even radio, golf’s grip on the public imagination was largely down to the power of the written word. Heroic feats performed by the likes of Harry Vardon,Walter Hagen and the immortal Bobby Jones were first revealed to avid enthusiasts of the fledgling sport in their morning newspapers. It is said Bernard invented golf writing as we know it today. He was the first golf writer to transcribe facts and figures into a branch of literary journalism and he did so with style, wit and an ability to turn a phrase. Born September 7, 1876 in Downe, Kent, Darwin's grandfather was Charles Darwin, the great naturalist, who proposed the theory of evolution. Bernard never trained as a journalist. After graduating from Cambridge with a law degree, he became a barrister in London for a few years. But Darwin was unhappy in his work and in 1908, he gave up his career in law. "Once Darwin dipped his toe into golf writing, the reports he produced regularly for The Times of London over a forty-five year period and his ruminative essays for the weekly Country Life possessed a quality that no one else has ever approached," Herbert Warren Wind wrote, "We are simply very lucky that a man of his high talent was so smitten by golf that he wrote endlessly about it." His description of Royal St. George's reveals his deep affection for his work: "My pen has run away with me over the first six holes, as I knew it would, and there still remain twelve more holes to play." At the Times of London,
Darwin always wrote anonymously as "Our Golf Correspondent." It was not until some years after he retired that the paper began to name its writers; nevertheless, his readers could tell his immaculate prose. To read a story by Darwin was to be placed in the center of the action. This refreshing honesty and sense of being caught up in historic events were hallmarks of Darwin’s writing. He never pretended to have witnessed events at which he was not actually present, but this did not diminish his storytelling. His summary of Bobby Jones’ 1926 win at Royal Lytham & St Annes, with echoes of The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, brings a beguiling immediacy to the tournament climax. “The advanced guard of his crowd came towards us, in the van one who trotted briskly, as if big with news to impart. I have a well-grounded distruct of spectators’ tales

but this one looked a man of good counsel,sober and unimaginative; so I buttonholed him and asked his tidings. When we said that Bobby was now two under fours I thought he was only the usual liar, but what he said was true, for Bobby had done the holes from the sixth to the twelfth in 24 shots. After that the round was a triumphal procession.” As well as an appreciation of grat players and tournaments, Darwin was passionate about golf coursesand their design. In the year The Open returns to Royal St George’s for the 14th time, it is only appropriate to recount his love of the club for which he served as President between 1952 and 1961. The par-5 14th “Suez Canal” is socalled according to Darwin because,”many a second shot has found a watery grave”. He described the par-3 sixth, “The Maiden”, in his book, Classic Golf Holes, as “steep, sandy and terrible, with her face scarred and seamed with black timbers, but alas! We no longer have to drive over her crown: we hardly do more than skirt the fringe of her garment’. Above all, his writing has a timeless quality. "To me he appealed to the reader on the most individualistic terms. He talked to us, apologized to us, cried to us, bared his temper to us, and made us laugh with him, all in an attempt to reveal his deep, deep love for golf to us," wrote Ben Crenshaw in an afterword to Golf Between Two Wars, a reissue of Darwin's 1944 classic. "Darwin's writings have given me as much pleasure and as sound education as anything in my golfing life. His words express closely what we feel about the game, if we have taken this game to our heart, as he did."

Γεννημένη στην Αδελαϊδα της Αυστραλίας η Rawson, ασχολήθηκε με το modeling, όταν έλαβε μέρος σε ηλικία 15 χρονών σε ένα διαγωνισμό ομορφιάς. Εκτός από τα φυσικά της προσόντα , εντύπωση έχουν προκαλέσει και οι ριζοσπαστικές της ιδέες που αφορούν τα τουρνουά γκολφ. Με σπουδές στην επικοινωνία, θεωρεί ότι θα ήταν εξαιρετικό κάθε παίκτης να ξεκινά τον αγώνα του ακούγωντας το αγαπημένο του τραγούδι κάτι που ίσως θα ενθουσίαζε και το κοινό που θα παρακολουθούσε τον αγώνα. Το τραγούδι θα επαναλαμβάνεται καθώς πλησιάζει ο παίκτης προς την τελευταία τρύπα. Για την ίδια την Rawson αυτό θα εξαφάνιζε τον εκενυρισμό που έχει ο παίκτης από την υποχρεωτική ησυχία του κοινού πριν από το swing. Φυσικά ως άνθρωπος της μόδας θεωρεί αναγκαίο κάθε τουρνουά γκολφ να έχει αποκλειστικά τον δικό του σχεδιαστή μόδας, που θα δημιουργεί ένα αξεσουαρ ή ένα σύνολο για τη μέρα της απονομής. Κάθε ομάδα θα φωτογραφίζεται από ένα γνωστό φωτογράφο μόδας και οι φωτογραφίες θα δημοσιεύονται στα κατάλληλα περιοδικά. Απαραίτητος για λόγους μαρκετιγκ και ένας αγώνας σε επαγγελματικο επίπεδο ανάμεσα στο LPGA και το PGA Tour.

After graduating from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in communication, Anna turned professional. She has had top 10 finishes on the LPGA, LET and KLPGA tours and was voted one of the top 10 most beautiful athletes in the world by Sports Illustrated. Anna has graced 17 different magazine covers and has been featured in over 100 fashion, golf and lifestyle publications worldwide. She is one of the most recognizable faces in women’s golf and continues to host TV-shows, model, play golf and write for publications around the world. Anna also is well known for her extreme ideas. Here are a few ideas that might help women's golf, or at least start some conversation: Every player should tee off to her favorite song at the beginning of the tournament and have it played again when she approaches
the 18th green. Major League Baseball teams play music as batters approach the plate and it's great. Fans connect with players for their music and it builds anticipation. I don't think our golfers would have a problem with this because nowadays who doesn't practice with their iPod on? Plus, it would help me on the tee; the forced quiet is nerve-racking, so hearing music will help break the tension. For each tournament, I would have a fashion designer create a piece of clothing or accessory for the trophy ceremony. Some LPGA tournaments should be played in conjunction with PGA tournaments. Both tours would play on the same course during the same week -- and at the same time -- while still competing for separate titles.

Στα επτά χρόνια διεξαγωγής του, έχει φιλοξενηθεί σε διακεκριμένα γήπεδα γκολφ σε όλη την Ελλάδα, όπως στη Χερσόνησο της Κρήτης (2006-2008), στο Πόρτο Καρράς στη Χαλκιδική (2009), για δύο χρονιές 2010 και 2011 διοργανώθηκαν στο "The Dunes Course "στην Costa Navarino, στη Μεσσηνία και πέρσι στην Κύπρο, στο Aphrodite Hills. Κάθε χρόνο, το Aegean Airlines Pro-Am προσελκύει παίκτες από όλο τον κόσμο (13 χώρες το 2006, 16 χώρες το 2007, 12 χώρες το 2008, 15 χώρες το 2009, 19 χώρες το 2010, 16 χώρες το 2011, 14 χώρες το 2012 και 18 χώρες το 2013). Η Aegean Airlines στηρίζει δυναμικά το γκολφ, καθώς αποτελεί μία από τις σημαντικότερες εναλλακτικές μορφές ποιοτικού τουρισμού, που δύναται να συμβάλλει στην επιμήκυνση της τουριστικής περιόδου και στην ουσιαστική αύξηση των εισερχόμενων τουριστών στην χώρα μας. Αρκεί να δούμε τις γειτονικές μας χώρες, αλλά και τις λοιπές χώρες της Μεσογείου (Ιταλία, Ισπανία και Πορτογαλία) που μετρούν πάνω 200 γήπεδα γκολφ με υψηλή γκολφική δραστηριότητα. Η ενίσχυση της προσπάθειας αυτής συντελείται με την εξέλιξη και την εδραίωση του Aegean Airlines Pro-Am ως του πλέον αναγνωρισμένου αθλητικού γεγονότος στην Ευρώπη, που τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της πιο αναγνωρισμένης ένωσης επαγγελματιών του γκολφ στην Ευρώπη. Η Aegean Airlines αποτελεί από το 2011 τον «προτιμώμενο αερομεταφορέα» της The PGAs of Europe μεταφέροντας τους επαγγελματίες παίκτες της PGAs of Europe με ειδικές τιμές και προνόμια. Επίσης, όπως σε κάθε τουρνουά “Aegean Airlines ProAm” έτσι και το φετινό, θα συνδέσει το όνομά του με έναν κοινωφελή σκοπό. or the 8th consecutive year, Aegean Airlines organizes the international golf tournament “Αegean Airlines Pro-Am” (www. aegeanproam.com), currently considered one of the most important golf events in Europe, as it is highly successful and widely recognized. Τhe tournament is organized under the auspices of the PGAs of Europe (www.pgae.com) and is fully supported by the PGA of Greece (www.greekpga.gr), the Cyprus Golf Federation (www.cgf.org. cy) and the Hellenic Golf Federation. Τhis year, the 8th Aegean Airlines Pro-Am will take place at two magnificent golf courses, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course at Costa Navarino, Messenia, and is open to 60 teams! 240 players from all over the world will compete for the prizes offered: the total prize fund for the 60 professional players (PGA Professionals) amounts to €70.000, while important prizes will be offered to amateurs who will distinguish among the participants. For the third consecutive year, during the tournament, an electronic Vpar system will be used for electronic scores, providing an opportunity for live scoring whereas there players will be given the opportunity to use Golf Buddy GPS. The last seven tournaments have been hosted at distinguished golf courses around Greece, among others at Hersonissos, Crete (20062008), at Porto Carras, Chalkidiki (2009) and at “The Dunes Course" of Costa Navarino, Messinia (2010 and 2011) while last year it took place at Aphrodite Hills, in Cyprus. Every year, the Aegean Airlines ProAm attracts players from al over the world (13 countries in 2006, 16 countries in 2007, 12 countries in 2008, 15 countries in 2009, 19 countries in 2010, 16 countries in 2011, 14 countries in 2012 and 18 countries in 2013). This effort is reinforced by the evolution and establishment of the Aegean Airlines Pro-Am as the most recognized sporting event in Europe, held under the auspices of the most recognizable association of professional golfers in Europe. Since 2011, Aegean Airlines is the “Preferred Airline” of the PGAs of Europe carrying PGA professionals under special rates and privileges. As in every “Aegean Airlines ProAm” tournament, this year’s event will be linked to a social cause. Thus, the “8th Aegean Airlines ProAm” will offer 8.000€ at SOS Children’s Villages.

The Aegean Airlines Pro-Am returns to Costa Navarino taking place for the first time on both signature 18-hole golf courses, The Dunes Course and The Bay Course. The interest and response of players from 17 countries, including Italy, Germany, Israel, the USA, South Africa, England, Spain, Slovenia and Sweden, has been extremely affecting. The 8th Aegean Pro-Am will host 60 teams, more than last year, as it will be played on two courses, while the prize fund offered to professional players amounts to 70,000 Euro! Because we believe in promoting golf with other popular sports such as football, this year international pro foot-
ballers Jörn Andersen and Andreas Möller will be participating on the team of professional golfer Mr Takis Gonias. Moreover, Golf Clinics and Junior Camp will be offered by international players of the Hellenic Football Federation on Saturday, 1 June. The tournament is organised under the auspices of the PGAs of Europe, as it is each year, and is fully supported by the PGA of Greece and the Cyprus Golf Federation. Ερνέστος Τσίλλερ πρότεινε το 1871 στον βασιλιά Γεώργιο Α΄ την αγορά του Τατοΐου. Εκεί όμως που ο Σάξονας αρχιτέκτονας σκεφτόταν να δημιουργήσει ένα σύμπλεγμα με κήπους, σιντριβάνια, καταρράκτες, στοές και μπελβεντέρε, ο βασιλιάς προέκρινε τη λύση μίας θερινής έπαυλης. Το πρώτο σπίτι που ολοκληρώθηκε το 1874, σε σχέδια Τσίλλερ, ήταν διώροφο ελληνοελβετικού ρυθμού, με δίρρικτη στέγη, το οποίο προοριζόταν για βασιλικός ξενώνας. Το 1884 ο αρχιτέκτονας Σάββας Μπούκης άρχισε να οικοδομεί το σημερινό ανάκτορο, αντιγράφοντας στην πραγματικότητα μία έπαυλη των ανακτόρων του Πέτερχοφ, στην Αγία Πετρούπολη, που ανήκε στον τσάρο Αλέξανδρο Β΄, θείο της βασίλισσας Όλγας. Tο 1898 το Τατόι απέκτησε τη μέγιστη έκτασή του: 47.427 στρέμματα. Η πρώτη προτεραιότητα για τη βασιλική οικογένεια πλέον ήταν το φυσικό περιβάλλον. Ο πρώτος διευθυντής του κτήματος, ο Δανός δασολόγος Λουδοβίκος Μύντερ, που εργάστηκε στο κτήμα από το 1873 μέχρι το 1892, ανέδειξε την τοπική χλωρίδα, πολιτική που ακολούθησε και ο διάδοχός του Όθων Βάισμαν (1893-1914). Τό Τατόι είχε
αποκτήσει 400 χιλιόμετρα οδικού δικτύου, γέφυρες, πλήρες σύστημα υδροδότησης και πυρασφάλειας και δύο μικρές τεχνητές λίμνες, τη Χήνα και την Κιθάρα. Μάλιστα, αργότερα το Τατόι θα αποκτήσει ένα ξενοδοχείο, το «Τατόιον». Η πυρκαγιά του 1916 σηματοδοτεί το τέλος της «όμορφης εποχής» για το Τατόι. Η ανασυγκρότηση ξεκινά στά χρόνια της Α΄ Αβασίλευτης Δημοκρατίας, υπό την επίβλεψη του Βασίλειου Δρούβα (19251961). Στις αρχές της δεκαετίας του ’30 κτίζονται το συγκρότημα κατοικιών και εργαστηρίων και ο σταθμός χωροφυλακής. Στη συνέχεια, θα προστεθούν το κομψό διευθυντήριο, το μαυσωλείο και τα διάσπαρτα πέτρινα φυλάκια της Φρουράς. Τα μικρά κτήρια μέσα στο κτήμα συνθέτουν μία κεντροευρωπαϊκή αντίληψη για την αγροτική οικονομία (υπήρχε ένας ολόκληρος πληθυσμός που δούλευε στα κτήματα). ΦΥΣΙΟΛΑΤΡΙΚΗ ΠΕΡΙΗΓΗΣΗ ΣΤΟ ΤΑΤΟΪ Όταν ο καιρός τα Σαββατοκύριακα είναι γλυκός, πλήθος κόσμου ξεφεύγει από τη ρουτίνα της καθημερινότητας αναζητώντας ντας μία ήρεμη περιπέτεια στη βλάστηση των 300.000 στρεμμάτων του Εθνικού Δρυμού Πάρνηθας. Μέσα
σε αυτή την ατέλειωτη έκταση όπου το προβάδισμα έχει η φύση, περιλαμβάνεται και το Τατόι, γνωστό και ως «βασιλικά κτήματα», έκτασης 42.000 στρεμμάτων. «Με απόφαση του Ευρωπαϊκού Δικαστηρίου Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων», μας λέει ο κ. Γιώργος Ζαρείφης, επί χρόνια δασολόγος του δασαρχείου Πάρνηθας και μέλος του φορέα διαχείρισης του Εθνικού Δρυμού Πάρνηθας, στον οποίο υπάγεται το Τατόι, «τα βασιλικά κτήματα στο Τατόι, δηλαδή τα θερινά ανάκτορα της πρώην ελληνικής βασιλικής οικογένειας, μαζί με τα βοηθητικά κτήρια, έχουν χαρακτηριστεί αρχαιολογικός χώρος, το πιο σημαντικό ιστορικό μνημείο της περιοχής του Δρυμού. Να διευκρινίσω ότι τα βοηθητικά κτήρια, που περιλαμβάνουν χώρους που κάποτε χρησίμευαν ως κατοικίες προσωπικού, μελισσοκομεία, κτηνοτροφικές μονάδες, αποθήκες και φυλάκια, είναι εξωτερικά προσβάσιμα ακόμα και τις καθημερινές. Στο εσωτερικό τους, βέβαια, απαγορεύεται η είσοδος». Να υπογραμμίσουμε πως το Μάρτιο του 2003 το Τατόι περιήλθε στην κυριότητα του κράτους. Λίγους μήνες αργότερα, συγκεκριμένα το Σεπτέμβριο του 2003, με εισήγηση της Ελληνικής Εταιρείας για την Προστασία του Περιβάλλοντος και της Πολιτιστικής
Κληρονομιάς κηρύχθηκε διατηρητέο από το Κεντρικό Συμβούλιο Νεότερων Μνημείων. Στον Εθνικό Δρυμό Πάρνηθας, που ιδρύθηκε το 1961 με σκοπό τη διατήρηση της πανίδας, της χλωρίδας και του τοπίου και τη διαφύλαξη της ιστορικής κληρονομιάς, το προβάδισμα έχει η φύση. Πρόκειται για έναν πλούσιο βιότοπο (που αγκαλιάζει το Τατόι), γεμάτο δάση, λιβάδια, λίμνες, ποτάμια, ελαιώνες, αμπελώνες και κουμαριές. Μία ιδιαίτερα πλούσια βλάστηση με περισσότερα από χίλια είδη φυτών, δεκάδες βότανα, δέντρα, αγριολούλουδα και πανέμορφα ελάφια έλξης για τρυφερές φωτογραφίες. «Πρόκειται για ένα σημαντικό ιστορικό και οικολογικό τόπο με μοναδικό φυσικό πλούτο, παρά τις σημαντικές πυρκαγιές που τον έχουν πλήξει επανειλημμένα στο παρελθόν. Με λίγα λόγια είναι ένας πραγματικός παράδεισος για τους φυσιολάτρεις», υπογραμμίζει ο κ. Ζαρείφης. Ο πρίγκιπας Μιχαήλ θυμάται: «Το Τατόι ήταν περισσότερο μία έπαυλη παρά ένα παλάτι. Ακριβώς δίπλα στο σαλόνι άνοιγε η τραπεζαρία που καταλάμβανε το πλάτος του οικήματος. Είχαμε ελάχιστο προσωπικό. Όταν βρισκόμασταν οικογενειακώς, γευματίζαμε συνήθως γύρω από ένα “δανέζικο μπου-
φέ”. Το ωραιότερο δωμάτιο του Τατοΐου ήταν το γραφείο του βασιλιά Παύλου, που μετατρεπόταν συχνά σε οικογενειακό σαλόνι. Βρισκόταν σε μία γωνία του σπιτιού και τα παράθυρά του είχαν θέα προς τις δύο πλευρές. Μπορούσε κανείς να θαυμάσει δύο ωραιότατα έπιπλα της Φλωρεντινής Αναγέννησης. Πάνω από το τζάκι υπήρχε ένας πίνακας που απεικόνιζε την αναχώρηση του Γεωργίου Α΄ από την Κοπεγχάγη για την Ελλάδα. Στο γραφείο του ο βασιλιάς φύλαγε σαν κόρη οφθαλμού τη “χρυσή σφυρίχτρα”, έργο του Fabergé για το “Στάνταρ”, το κότερο του τσάρου Νικολάου Β΄. Εάν κανείς είχε την άδεια να ανεβεί στον πρώτο όροφο, θα ανακάλυπτε τα υπνοδωμάτια του βασιλιά και της βασίλισσας, καθώς και τρία ή τέσσερα δωμάτια για τους φιλοξενούμενους. Η πόρτα του μπάνιου ήταν ζωγραφισμένη από τον θείο μας, πρίγκιπα Νικόλαο, που ήταν φημισμένος ζωγράφος. Στο δεύτερο όροφο βρίσκονταν τα δωμάτια των παιδιών και το δικό μου. Η βασιλική οικογένεια ζούσε μονίμως στο Τατόι. Πηγαίναμε στο παλάτι της Ηρώδου του Αττικού μόνο για να αλλάξουμε επ’ ευκαιρία επίσημων εκδηλώσεων. Στο Τατόι ζούσαμε ευτυχισμένοι. Τα Βοηθητικά κτίρια στο συγρότημα των ανακτόρων στη μικρή κοιλάδα. Τα ανάκτορα Τατοϊου 127 χρόνια από την ανέγερσή τους και μετά από τέσσερις δεκαετίες ερήμωσης ήρθε η ώρα να αξιοποιηθούν.

rnst Ziller was the one who, in 1871, proposed to George I of Greece, the purchase of Tatoi. But, while the Saxon architect was thinking to create a complex of gardens, fountains, water-falls, arcades and belvedere, the King opted for the solution of a summer mansion. The first house, that was concluded in 1874, designed by Ziller, was a two-story building, in HellenicSwish style, with a span roof, that was intended for royal guesthouse. In 1884, the architecture Savvas Boukis began the construction of the existing palace, imitating in fact a mansion of Peterhof΄s court palace, in Saint Petersburg, that belonged to Alexander II of Russia, uncle of Queen Olga. In 1898, Tatoi acquired its maximum extend: almost five thousand hectares. By then, the first priority for the royal family was the natural environment. The first director of the estate, the Dane forester Ludovic Munder, who was working in the estate from
1873 to 1892, set off the indigenous flora, a policy that was also held by his successor, Otto Weissman (1893-1914). Tatoi has acquired a road-network of 400 kilometers, bridges, a thorough system of water distribution and fire safety, and two small artificial lakes, the Goose and the Guitar. Later, a hotel was added in Tatoi, the “Tatoion”. A fire in 1916, marked the end of the belle époque for Tatoi. The reconstruction began at the era of the A΄ Monarchless Democracy, under Vassilis Drouvas’ supervision. Next, the elegant directorate, the mausoleum and the dispersed stone guard-houses were added. The small buildings within the estate comprise a Central-European notion of the agricultural economy (a whole population was working in the estate). A NATURE-LOVING TOUR IN TATOI In fine weather week-ends, a lot of people escape from the everyday routine, seeking a mild adventure in the vegetation of the
30.000 hectares of Parnitha National Park. In this endless area, where the nature has the precedence, is included Tatoi, known as the “royal estate”, that covers an area of 4,000 hectares. “According to a decision of the European Court of Human Rights,” says Mr. George Zarifis, for many years forester of Parnitha Fortstry, and member of the administrative body of the Parnitha National Park, to where Tatoi belongs, “the Tatoi royal estate, that is the summer palace of the former Greek royal family, along with the auxiliary buildings, has been designated as an archaeological site, the most important historical monument of the Forest Park area. I have to clarify that the auxiliary buildings, that include areas that were once used as personnel houses, apiaries, stock raising units, store houses and guard houses, are accessible in their exterior even during the week days. Of course, the admission in their interior is prohibited”. In March 2003, Tatoi became state property. after that, in September 2003, with the recommendation of the Hellenic Society for the Protection of the Environment and the Cultural Hertage, Tatoi was designated as tenable, by the Central Council for Modern Monuments. At the Parnitha National Park, that was established in 1961, with the purpose to maintain the fauna, the flora and the landscape and the preservation of the historical heritage, nature has the precedence. It is a rich biotope (that embraces Tatoi), full of forests, meadows, rivers, olive groves, vineyards and bearberries. An incredibly rich vegetation, with more than a thousand plant species, dozens of herbs, trees, wild flowers and beautiful deers, a pole of attraction for tender snapshots. “It is an important historical and ecological area, with a unique natural wealth, despite the great fires that repeatedly afflicted it in the past. In
other words, it is a true paradise for the nature-loving people,” emphasizes Mr. Zarifis. Prince Michael remembers: “Tatoi was rather a villa, than a palace. Right next to the living room, there was the dining room which took up the entire width of the building. We had few members of staff. In family ‘meetings’, we usually dined around a ‘Danish buffet’, from which everyone filled his own plate. Tatoi’s most beautiful room was Paul of Greece office, which was often converted into a family living room. It was located in one of the corners of the house and from its windows you could see both sides. It had two spectacular pieces of furniture from the Florentine Renaissance period. Magazines from all over the world were spread on a huge table, and anyone could browse them, but was not allowed to take them. Over the fireplace hung was a

painting which portrayed the departure of George I of Greece from Copenhagen to Greece. 01 It belonged to his father. In his office the kind guarded the ‘gold whistle’, a work by Fabergé for ‘Standard’, the yacht of Nicholas II of Russia. If one was allowed to visit the first floor, they would discover the king’s and the queen’s bedrooms, as well as three or four guest bedrooms. The bathroom door had been painted by our uncle, Prince Nicholas, who was a renowned painter. The children’s bedrooms and mine were in the second floor. The royal family lived permanently in Tatoi. We only went to the other palace at Herodou Attikou Str. to change clothes, if we had to attend a formal event. We lived very happily in Tatoi. We all came home after work in the evening. We were young, we had fun, we were constantly laughing...”

ΔΕΞΙΑ Το Ποντικονήσι στο Κανόνι και το Παλάτι των Ελλήνων Μοναρχών που στεγάζει πλέον συλλογή του Μουσείου Ασιατικής Τέχνης ΑΡΙΣΤΕΡΑ 1. Χαρακτηριστικά στιγμιότυπα από την Παλιά Πόλη της Κέρκυρας.
τριμωγμένη ανάμεσα στο Παλιό Φρούριο, χτισμένο από τους Βυζαντινούς, και το Νέο Φρούριο, χτισμένο από τους Ενετούς, η ζωή στην πόλη της Κέρκυρας εστιάζεται στο Λιστόν και στη Σπιανάδα. Κατά τη διάρκεια της κατοχής της Κέρκυρας από τους Γάλλους, η στοά του Λιστόν σχεδιάστηκε από τον αρχιτέκτονα της Παριζιάνικης Rue de Rivoli. Τα καφέ και τα εστιατόρια της στοάς βλέπουν στους εκτενείς αγωνιστικούς χώρους της Σπιανάδας, όπως η Rue de Rivoli βλέπει στα Παλάτι του Κεραμεικού. Στο νότιο άκρο της Σπιανάδας, σε ένα περίτεχνο κιόσκι κοντά στη Maitland Rotunda, διοργανώνονται πολλές μουσικές εκδηλώσεις. Στο βόρειο άκρο της Σπιανάδας, η πρώην κατοικία των Βρετανών υψηλόβαθμων αξιωματούχων, η οποία χρησίμευσε έπειτα ως παλάτι των Ελλήνων μοναρχών, στεγάζει τώρα την εκτενή συλλογή του Μουσείου Ασιατικής Τέχνης. Περπατώντας στα στενά δρομάκια της συμπαγούς Παλιάς πόλης, μπορεί κανείς να δει το Βυζαντινό Μουσείο, το Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο, το Μουσείο Μοντέρνας Τέχνης και το σπίτι του διάσημου ποιητή του δέκατου ένατου αιώνα Διονύσιου Σολωμού, που τώρα είναι μουσείο. Στριφογυριστά δρομάκια που περνούν μέσα από την παραδοσιακή Εβραϊκή συνοικία οδηγούν στο υψηλότερο σημείο του λόφου, στο Καμπιέλο. Εκεί, τα όμορφα Ενετικά αρχοντικά προσφέρουν μια υπέροχη θέα στο παλιό λιμάνι. Το 2007, η UNESCO προσέθεσε την παλιά πόλη της Κέρκυρας στη λίστα με τα Μνημεία Παγκόσμιας Πολιτιστικής Κληρονομιάς. Νότια της Σπιανάδας, στην άλλη μεριά του κόλπου, η νεοκλασική βίλλα Μον Ρεπό χτίστηκε από τον Βρετανό Υψηλό Αξιωματούχο Frederic Adam το 1824. Από το 1864 κι έπειτα, ήταν ιδιοκτησία της Ελληνικής μοναρχίας. Εκεί γεννήθηκε το 1921 ο Πρίγκιπας Φίλιππος της Βρετανίας. Περιστοιχισμένο από ένα μεγάλο πάρκο, βρίσκεται κο-
ντά σε αρκετές αρχαιολογικές τοποθεσίες: στους Δωρικούς ναούς, στα Ρωμαϊκά λουτρά, σε μια βασιλική του πέμπτου αιώνα και σε μια Βυζαντινή εκκλησία του δωδέκατου αιώνα. Σχεδιασμένο το 1971 από τον αρχιτέκτονα γκολφ εγκαταστάσεων Donald Harrandine, που έχει σα βάση του την Ελβετία, το Corfu Golf Club ταιριάζει απόλυτα με το ήσυχο και κατάφυτο Λιβάδι του Ρόπα. Το γήπεδο αυτό είναι η ζωντανή απόδειξη πως ένας γκόλφερ δε χρειάζεται μεγάλο μήκος και έκταση για να αποδείξει την τεχνική του: αυτό που κάνει τη διαφορά είναι η ποικιλία προκλήσεων. Το Corfu Golf Club έχει περισσότερα υδάτινα στοιχεία από οποιοδήποτε άλλο γήπεδο στην Ελλάδα. Ο Harradine σχεδίασε τις εφτά λίμνες του γηπέδου έτσι ώστε κάθε μία να αναπαριστά ένα νησί του Ιονίου. Η μεγαλύτερη λίμνη αναπαριστά την Κέρκυρα. Χτισμένο σε σχετικά επίπεδο έδαφος, αυτό το par 72 γήπεδο πρωταθλητισμού με τις 18 τρύπες παρέχει άπλετο χώρο για να κινήσει κανείς τη μπάλα. Τα fairways είναι στολισμένα με ευκαλύπτους, λεύκες, κυπαρίσσια και πεύκα, ενώ κλαίουσες ιτιές και μπαμπού που εκτοξεύονται προς τον ουρανό επισκιάζουν τα άπειρα ρυάκια και τις λιμνούλες του γηπέδου. Δεν υπάρχουν «αδύναμες» τρύπες στην Κέρκυρα. Η μοναδική γεύση ωμότητας είναι το νερό. Οι δύο πρώτες τρύπες εισάγουν τον γκόλφερ στις παραμυθένιες ιδιότητες του γηπέδου. Στριμωγμένη ανάμεσα σε δύο ρυάκια, η πρώτη τρύπα, par 4 (303 μέτρα), είναι ίσια και, όπως πολλές par 4 στο Corfu Golf Club, μπορεί να την πετύχει κανείς με δυο χτυπήματα. Η διαβολική 2η, par 3 (144 μέτρα), απαιτεί προσεκτική επιλογή μπαστουνιού για να χτυπήσει κανείς το green με τη μία. Η 3η τρύπα, par 5 (469 μέτρα), και η 4η, par 4 (374 μέτρα), hit straight to the pins, καθώς απομακρύνεται από τον Άγιο Γόρδιο και κατευθύνεται προς τη Βασιλική. Ένα μικρό πευκόδασος στην 4η κρύβει τη λίμνη που βρίσκεται στα αριστερά. Στο green, η θέα στο γραφικό χωριό του Κοκκίνη πάνω

ΤΑ ΑΞΙΟΘΕΑΤΑ
στην πλαγιά του λόφου, είναι η καλύτερη αποζημίωση για τις αποτυχημένες βολές. Την dog-leg αριστερή 5η τρύπα, par 5 (435 μέτρα), την πετυχαίνει κανείς με δύο χτυπήματα. Ξέφωτα με πεύκα και λεύκες δεσπόζουν πάνω από τη λίμνη που βρίσκεται στην αριστερή πλευρά του fairway, ενώ κλαίουσες και γιγάντια μπαμπού κρύβουν ένα ελικοειδές ρυάκι που βρίσκεται στα δεξιά. Η 6η, par 4 (326 μέτρα), συνορεύει με τη μεγαλύτερη λίμνη του γηπέδου. Η επική par 5 (500 μέτρα) 7η τρύπα υπερατλαντικών αναλογιών είναι ίσως η πιο απαιτητική του γηπέδου. Η 17η, par 4 (406 μέτρα), βρίσκεται σε μια εκπληκτική έκταση περάτωσης. Εκεί χρειάζεται μια εκτενής βόλτα με το αμαξάκι για να αποκτήσει κάποιος μια ολοκληρωμένη εικόνα του green. Το Λιβάδι του Ρόπα είναι ένα σπουδαίο φυσικό περιβάλλον με υψηλά επίπεδα υγρασίας, και αποτελεί την κατοικία πολλών ειδών πτηνών, ερπετών, αμφίβιων και ψαριών: η 17η τρύπα είναι το σπίτι ενός μόνιμου κατοίκου του Corfu Golf Club, του μπλε ερωδιού. Στο αρχηγείο του γηπέδου , η 18η τρύπα, par 5 (581 μέτρα), δοκιμάζει την ικανότητα του γκόλφερ να χειριστεί το γήπεδο, καθώς ένα μεγάλο καμπυλωτό χαντάκι χωρίζει το fairway από το green.
• Τη Σπιανάδα, μια από τις μεγαλύτερες πλατείες της Ελλάδας καθώς και το Λιστόν στη δυτική πλευρά της, ένα αρχιτεκτονικό επιβλητικό σύμπλεγμα, χτισμένο στα πρότυπα της Rue de Rivoli του Παρισιού, που σήμερα αποτελεί το επίκεντρο της κοσμικής ζωής του νησιού. • Το Ναό του Αγίου Σπυρίδωνα, ένα από τα σημαντικότερα μεταβυζαντινά μνημεία της Κέρκυρας, για να προσκυνήσετε το σκήνωμα του Αγίου Σπυρίδωνα. • Το Μον Ρεπό, στην Παλαιόπολη, ένα καταπράσινο κτήμα, πρώην θερινή κατοικία της έκπτωτης βασιλικής οικογένειας, με διάσπαρτα θραύσματα της αρχαίας πόλης της Κέρκυρας. • Το Αχίλλειον, τη πανέμορφη νεοκλασική θερινή κατοικία-ανάκτορο της θλιμμένης αυστριακής πριγκίπισσας Σίσσυ.

Sandwiched between the Old Fortress, built by the Byzantines, and the New Fortress, built by the Venetians, Corfu town life centers on the Liston and the Esplanade. During the French occupation of Corfu, the arcade of the Liston was designed by the architect of the Rue Rivoli in Paris. Its cafes and restaurants overlook the wide green playing fields of the Esplanade, just as the Rue Rivoli overlooks the Tuileries. At the south end of the Esplanade, musical events resound at an ornate pavilion near the Maitland Rotunda. At the north end of the Esplanade, the former residence built for the British High Commissioners, subsequently used as a palace by the Greek monarchy, now houses the extensive collection of the Museum of Asiatic Art. Walking through the narrow streets of the compact old town, one encounters the Byzantine Museum, the Archeological Museum, the Modern Art Museum and a museum at the home of the famous nineteenth century poet Dionysios Solomos. Winding alleyways lead through the traditional Jewish quarter uphill to the Campiello, where graceful Venetian mansions overlook the old port. In 2007, UNESCO added the city’s old town to its World Heritage List. South of the Esplanade, at the other end of the bay, Mon Repos villa was built in neoclassical style by British High Commissioner Frederic Adam in 1824. After 1864, it became the property of the Greek monarchy; Prince Philip of Britain was born there in 1921. Surrounded by a large park, it is close to archeological sites of Doric temples, Roman baths, a fifth century basilica and a twelfth century Byzantine church. Designed by Swiss-based golf architect Donald Harrandine in 1971, Corfu Golf Club blends seamlessly into the quiet and verdant Ropa Valley. This course demonstrates that it does not require length to test a golfer’s skill: it’s the variety of challenges that make the difference. Corfu Golf Club has more water features than any other course in Greece. Harradine designed each of
the seven lakes on the course to represent an Ionian island, the largest lake, Corfu. Routed on relatively flat land, this 18-hole, par 72 championship course offers plenty of room to drive the ball. Eucalyptus, poplar, cypress and pine trees enhance the fairways, while weeping willows and rocketing bamboo veil the many creeks and small lakes on the course. There are no weak holes in Corfu. The only touch of cruelty is water. The first two holes introduce the golfer to the fairy-tale quality of the course. Cradled between two hidden creeks, the 1st hole, par 4 (303 meters), is straight and like many par 4’s at Corfu Golf Club, reachable in two. The devilish 2nd, par 3 (144 meters), requires careful club selection to hit the green in one. The 3rd hole, par 5 (469 meters), and 4th, par 4 (374 meters), hit straight to the pins, moving away from Mt. Agios Giordis towards Mt. Basilica. A copse of pines on the 4th obscures the lake on the left. On the green, the view of the picturesque hillside village of Kokkini compensates for any missed putts. The dog-leg left 5th hole, par 5 (435 meters), is reachable in two. Open stands of pines and poplars shroud the lake on the left hand side of the fairway and weeping willows and bamboo conceal a winding creek on the right. The 6th, par 4 (326 meters), borders the largest lake on the course. An epic par 5 (500 meters) 7th hole of transatlantic proportions is perhaps the most challenging on the course. In a brilliant finishing stretch, the 17th, par 4 (406 meters), demands a perfect drive to get sight of the green. The Ropa Valley is an important wetlands habitat, home to a multitude of species of birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish: the 17th is the home of Corfu Golf Club’s resident blue heron. Back to the clubhouse, the 18th hole, par 5 (581 meters), tests the golfer’s ability to manage the course as a long curving ditch separates the fairway from the green.

ε απόσταση αναπνοής, μόλις 5’ με το αυτοκίνητο σε μία διαδρομή ανάμεσα σε πευκόφυτο δάσος και ελαιώνες βρίσκεται το Beach Club, στην απομονωμένη, κρυστάλλινη παραλία της Κορακίας. Το μάρμαρο, η πελεκημένη πέτρα και οι συμπαγείς κολώνες (552 στον αριθμό!) είναι τα βασικά του χαρακτηριστικά, και όλο το ξενοδοχείο αναπτύσσεται γύρω από έναν κεντρικό πυρήνα κτηρίων, την Ακρόπολη. Πηγή έμπνευσης για τον αρχιτέκτονα Ed Tuttle δεν ήταν άλλη από την αρχαία Αγορά και τον Παρθενώνα, τα οποία απέδωσε σε μία πολύ μοντέρνα εκδοχή που θα μπορούσε πολύ εύκολα να καταλήξει κιτς, κατάφερε ωστόσο να δημιουργήσει κάτι μεγαλειώδες με μοναδική αισθητική. Το νερό σα στοιχείο κυριαρχεί με διαδοχικές πισίνες ανάκλασης που όχι μόνο δίνουν μία νότα ανάλαφρης φρεσκάδας, αλλά οριοθετούν και τους διάφορους χώρους, δημιουργώντας όμορφα μονοπάτια και διαδρόμους. Και εκείνο που σίγουρα κάνει τη διαφορά είναι η προσοχή στη λεπτομέρεια, ο αναπάντεχα αρμονικός συνδυασμός των υλικών, η άρτια κατασκευή και οι μικρές πινελιές όπως για παράδειγμα τα έργα τέχνης που κοσμούν τους χώρους. Αν με ρωτούσε κανείς ποια είναι η
ωραιότερη ώρα της ημέρας στο Amanzoe θα έλεγα ότι είναι μαγικό συνέχεια, αποκαλύπτοντας στον επισκέπτη νέες πτυχές και κρυφές ομορφιές. Αδιαμφισβήτητα όμως ζωντανεύει την ώρα που πέφτει ο ήλιος, το σούρουπο που ανάβουν όλα του τα φώτα, και δεσπόζει σα λαμπερό διαμάντι στην κορφή του λόφου. Φτάνοντας, είναι αδύνατο να μην αισθανθεί κανείς δέος βλέποντας την εντυπωσιακή είσοδο, με το γλυπτό φωτιστικό και τους αρχαίους αμφορείς, στην προέκταση της οποίας οι υδάτινοι δρόμοι καταλήγουν στη εξωτερική πιάτσα με τη φλόγα που σιγοκαίει. Στον ορίζοντα δύει ο ήλιος και όλα έχουν μία χρεία πορτοκαλο-ροζ. Τα τζιτζίκια και οι γρύλλοι φροντίζουν για την τέλεια ακουστική επένδυση ενώ οι μεθυστικές μυρωδιές από τα εκατοντάδες ελληνικά βότανα που έχουν φυτευτεί περιρρέουν διάχυτα στην ατμόσφαιρα. Είναι ένα μέρος μαγικό και ονειρεμένο, που ‘μιλάει’ στις αισθήσεις και είναι το απόλυτο καταφύγιο ιδιωτικότητας. Η φύση και η αρχιτεκτονική έχουν σίγουρα τον πρώτο λόγο, όμως τίποτα δε θα ήταν ολοκληρωμένο δίχως το απαράμιλλο service που χαρακτηρίζει τα Amanresorts, τη μοναδική αυτή ικανότητα του να ξέρουν πριν ζητήσεις τι χρειάζεσαι, ή που πάντα γνωρίζουν το ποτό που προτιμάς ή τον τρόπο που θέλεις να στρώνουν το κρεβάτι σου. μα πάντα με το χαμόγελο στα χείλη – κάτι που ειλικρινά πίστευα ότι θα ήταν πολύ δύσκολο στην Ελλάδα, και όμως με μεγάλη μου χαρά διαπίστωσα ότι η Aman κατάφερε να κερδίσει το στοίχημα και να εκπαιδεύσει ένα εξαιρετικό προσωπικό γεμάτο ζωντάνια και προθυμία! Ακόμη και στις πρώτες ημέρες λειτουργίας του Amanzoe, που ίσως το προσωπικό δεν είχε ακόμη την απαραίτητη τριβή και υπήρχαν καθυστερήσεις και μικρό-προβληματάκια, ήταν αδύνατο να θυμώσεις όταν υπήρχε τόση ευγένεια…. Τα 38 δωμάτια-σουίτες αναπτύσσονται εκατέρωθεν του κεντρικού πυρήνα, και όλα διαθέτουν τη δική τους πισίνα 6μ ή 12μ, ξεχωριστές τουαλέτες και dressing areas, 100τμ εσωτερικών χώρων με σαλόνι και τζάκι, και περίπου 100τμ εξωτερικών χώρων με βεράντες, πέργκολες και lounge area. Στην ουσία το κάθε ένα είναι σαν ένα μικρό υπερπολυτελές σπίτι, που δεν του λείπει τίποτα: από την εσπρέσομηχανή, ένα γεμάτο ψυγείο (που όλα είναι complementary!), σπιτικά γλυκά και αλμυρά σνακ, μέχρι ολόφρεσκες λευκές ορτανσίες καθημερινά, αντηλιακά και αντικουνουπικά, κεριά, και ατελείωτες προμήθειες από αφράτες μαλακές πετσέτες. τοκαλιού είναι δροσερά και αναζωογονητικά. Εκείνα όμως τα οποία πραγματικά χάρηκα περισσότερο από όλα και αναπολώ με ιδιαίτερη θέρμη τώρα που είμαι πίσω στην Αθήνα είναι το Spa και το Beach Club. Το Spa όχι γιατί είναι το μεγαλύτερο και καλύτερο σπα που διαθέτουν τα Amanresorts, ούτε για τα εξαιρετικά προϊόντα που χρησιμοποιούνται που παρασκευάζονται ειδικά στην Αυστραλία, αλλά για τα εξαιρετικά ‘χέρια’ από τους θεραπευτές όλοι εκ των οποίων με ιδιαίτερο ζήλο έμαθαν και εφαρμόζουν τις Ασιατικές τεχνικές ευζωίας. Ευχαριστήθηκα την άρτια εκτελεσμένη τελετουργία, το χαμάμ στο κάθε δωμάτιο, τη μουσική επιλογή, τα incents, το χώρο χαλάρωσης, και πάνω από όλα μερικά από τα καλύτερα μασάζ της ζωής μου, παρά το γεγονός ότι πάντα βιαζόμουν και τα κορίτσια προσπαθούσαν με άγχος να τελειώσουν τη θεραπεία τους…. Όσο για το Beach Club, τα λόγια είναι περιττά. Όχι μόνο διαθέτει την καλύτερη pizza με λεπτή ζύμη στην Ελλάδα (ναι!), αλλά είναι το απόλυτο μέρος για lounging. Ατμοσφαιρική μουσική, υπέροχα κοκτέιλ, κρύες πετσετούλες σε τακτά χρονικά διαστήματα, δύο 25μ πισίνες ιδανικές για laps, πληθώρα μη μηχανοκίνητων θαλασσίων σπορ, και το απόλυτο ηλιοβασίλεμα…. Και άμα κάποιος έχει όρεξη για βόλτες και μπανάκι σε απομακρυσμένους κολπίσκους, το WallyOne (το πρώτο που κυκλοφόρησε παγκοσμίως) και το Pershing 42, ήταν διαθέσιμα προς ενοικίαση για τους πελάτες του ξενοδοχείου αλλά και τα μέλη του Aman Club, που μέχρι νεωτέρας είναι by invitation only. Αν έκανα διακοπές στο Amanzoe θα απολάμβανα το ξενοδοχείο αλλά θα έβγαινα για να πάω στις Σπέτσες, στο σπίτι κάποιων φίλων, σε μία ταβερνούλα στην Κοιλάδα ή την Ερμίονη, για θαλάσσιο σκι στο Πόρτο Χέλι , για ένα πικνίκ στην Επίδαυρο ή μία βόλτα στο Ναύπλιο. Θα περνούσα τις μέρες μου απολαμβάνοντας το δωμάτιο μου, κάνοντας treatments στο σπα & πιλάτες, διαβάζοντας βιβλία στη βιβλιοθήκη, κολυμπώντας και κάνοντας καγιάκ στο Beach Club, χαζεύοντας το ηλιοβασίλεμα παρέα με ένα καλοπαγωμένο Chardonnay στο lounge bar, και δοκιμάζοντας ρούχα και κοσμήματα ελλήνων σχεδιαστών στην Boutique. Θα έκανα υγιεινή μεσογειακή διατροφή, μια που όλες οι πρώτες ύλες είναι από ντόπιους –βιολογικούς κατά βάση- παραγωγούς, και κάθε μέρα θα έτρωγα τα ολόφρεσκα αυγουλάκια μου, το ψάρι της ημέρας και πάντα στο τέλος το σορμπέ από δυόσμο για να με δροσίσει… κι εννίοται θα ζητούσα από την κουζίνα να μου ετοιμάσει και κάτι Ασιατικό. Το τέλειο detox, και η πλήρης αποσυμπίεση!

stone’s throw away, only a five-minute drive through a thick pine forest and olive groves, the Aman Beach Club is located in Korakia beach, a secluded bay with crystal clear waters. The resort unravels around a central building, the Acropolis, while marble, local stone and concrete pillars (552 in total!) are the key construction materials used. The Ancient Greek Market and the Parthenon were the sources of inspiration for the architect Ed Tuttle, who managed to embrace Greece’s history and culture in a contemporary version, creating a true architectural splendor of unique aesthetics. Water is a dominant element, present in several reflection pools which not only add a touch of light freshness but also double as architectural borders separating the different areas and creating lovely paths and corridors. And it is indeed the attention to detail that makes the difference, not only in the unexpectedly harmonious materials’ combination and the premium construction, but also in the small decorative touches of artwork embellishing the resort. If someone would ask me what the best time of the day at Amanzoe is, I would say that it retains its magic throughout the day, constantly revealing new facets and hidden beauties to the guest. But if I had to choose… well, it is indisputable that when the sun sets and all the lights are on, it is the time it shines the most, like a precious diamond, dominating the area from the top of the hill. Upon arrival, the imposing entrance is awe inspiring, with the lighting sculpture and the ancient amphorae, as well as the waterways leading to the outdoor plateau with the burning flame. The sun slips down the horizon painting everything in hues of orange and pink. The cicadas and the crickets create a bouquet of marvelous sounds, while the most pleasant and relaxing fragrances from the Greek herb planted roofs are diffused in the air. It is a magical, dreamy place, which provokes one’s senses and becomes the ultimate private refuge. Even though nature and architecture have the first say, it is the seamless service that hallmarks Amanresorts. The personnel possesses the unique capacity of knowing what you need before you ask them and always knows what your favorite drink is or how you prefer your bed made. And they are always smiling – something I admit I believed to be very difficult in Greece. Yet, I was delighted when against all odds, Aman trained their personnel to be exceptional, vibrant and willing to serve you. Even at the first days of operation, when not everyone was finely tuned yet and with several delays and minor problems cropping up, it was impossible to get frustrated with such politeness around you…

There are 38 pavilions lying on both sides of the main building complex, all with their own private 6m or 12m pool, separate toilets for men and women, dressing areas, a fireplace, an interior space of 100 m² and their own terrace, with a pergola and a lounge area, of 100 m² as well. One could easily think of each pavilion as an ultra-luxurious, fully equipped house: an espresso machine, a refrigerator fully stocked with complimentary food and beverages, homemade sweet and savory snacks, fresh white hydrangeas renewed on a daily basis, sunscreen and mosquito repellent lotions, candles and endless supplies of fluffy towels. At dusk, a mesmerizing “scent of Greece” from all the fine herbs fills the air, nicely blending in with the refreshing and rejuvenating smells of the orange scented bathroom amenities. The atmosphere is so relaxing and cozy that you will never want to leave … Now that I am back in Athens, the two things I am mostly reminiscent of are the Spa and at the Beach Club, which I recall with feelings of true happiness and great joy. When it comes to the Spa, it is not the fact that it is the biggest or the best spa of Amanresorts, neither the exquisite organic products manufactured in Australia which I miss the most. What makes this experience unsurpassed is the divine touch of the therapists, who have eagerly learnt the Asian techniques of well-being and perform them in a truly perceptive way. I very much enjoyed the flawless rituals, the steam baths in every room, the soothing music, the incenses, the relaxing area and most of all, some of the best massages I ever received, despite the fact that I was always in a hurry and the therapists were trying to complete the treatment in a stressful atmosphere. And when it comes to the Beach Club, words are not enough: not only does it serve the best thin crust pizza in Greece (yes it does!), but it is also the perfect place for lounging. Imagine the setting: chill-out music, masterfully mixed cocktails, cold towels provided on a regular basis, two 25m pools which are perfect for laps, a plethora of non-motorized water sports and the most dramatic backdrop for a sunset… If you feel like exploring the beautiful neighboring islets and swimming at the remote coves by the enchanting coastline , the WallyOne (the first ever produced) and the Pershing 42 are offered for rent to hotel clients and Aman Club members, which so far is by invitation only. If I were on holidays at Amanzoe, besides enjoying the resort, I would visit the island of Spetses, a friend’s house, a small tavern in Kilada or Ermioni; I would go to Porto Heli for water ski, have a picnic in Epidaurus or take a walk in Nafplion; I would spend my days in my soothing pavilion, pamper myself in spa treatments and pilates
sessions, read books in the peaceful library; I would swim and canoe at the Beach Club, feast my eyes on the spectacular sunset savoring a well-chilled Chardonnay at the lounge bar and try outfits and jewelry with the signature of Greek designers at the resort’s Boutique; I would follow a healthy Mediterranean diet, with freshly cooked dishes based on products from local organic farms whenever possible; every day I would eat the fresh harvested eggs, the exceptional quality fresh catch of the day and I would always complete my meal with a cooling mint sorbet… and sometimes I would even ask the Chef for an Asian cuisine dish. The perfect detox and perfect decompression!

The Crete Golf Club
Afandou Golf Course, Rhodes The 18-hole par 73 course was designed by Donald Harradine and opened in May 1973. Open all year round, the Afandou Golf Club can supply you with caddies, caddy carts, golf clubs and balls for a very reasonable rental fee. Facilities include a club house with pro shop, snack bar, men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, a putting green and driving range. In July 2007 the Afandou Golf Course hosted the golfing events of the International Island Games Athletic Competition.
The Crete Golf Club is a relatively recent creation, about 16 miles east of Heraklion airport and surrounded by posh hotels, so it’s pretty easy of access. Opened in October 2003, it’s a year-round course, 18-hole par, designed by PGA Design Consulting of Great Britain. This is the oldest and most distinguished – and was for a long time the only – Greek golf course of any worth. w The18-hole par 72 course, designed by Donald Harradine, opened in 1966 and has continually hosted international events. It’s a green oasis of rolling slopes landscaped with mature trees and shrubbery. Porto Elounda Golf Club-Crete The Porto Elounda Golf Course is Crete’s second, located at the Porto Elounda De Luxe Resort on the northeast coast. Nestling in a hillside, the 9-hole course, with the mountains as a backdrop, blends with its surroundings, offering a spectacular view of the Bay of Mirabello. The course, designed by Chris Pittman, opened in 1996. The clubhouse is set in a picturesque Cretan village square and contains a pro shop and golf academy. 9-hole, par-3 course, 2 playing options for each hole, pro shop, 54 handicap required, PGA pro on site, 18-hole championship course located 30 minutes away with special rates for guests
The Corfu Golf Course is 18-hole par 72, located in the Ropa Valley in the centre of the island of Corfu. Its rolling green hills and lush landscape makes it one of the most scenic courses in Europe. Golf is played throughout the year with plenty of warm sunshine and blue skies. Designed by Donald Harradine, it opened in 1973. Now under British management, the Corfu Golf Club has a junior academy for children from 8 to 16 years of age. Facilities include a stone clubhouse which features a bar, a restaurant, locker rooms, and a pro shop. There is also a driving range and a putting green.
