BURTON EDUCATION Meet Amy, just one of the many talented students looked after by Burton. She studied at Claremont School in preparation for university education. During the twoyear guardianship, Burton nurtured her growth, closely following her artistic development. Amy is keen on fashion design, especially conceptual clothing using innovative materials. Researching creative technique is integral to her work. She explores the play of light and shadow, marshalling her classmates as photographic models. At the National Gallery, she spends many hours scrutinising past masters, up close and personal, sketching and painting to better understand their artistic practice and how it might contribute to her own. Burton has accompanied her on this journey, providing a stable guiding hand, giving her the required support and encouragement as she discovers her potential. Over the two years, Amy becomes assured in her aspiration, she focusses on fine-tuning her portfolio and secures a place at the university of her dreams. It’s hard to believe, but Amy had been an introverted child, struggling to express herself, lacking objectives. Her mother is impressed by the new-found confidence she sees in her daughter. Now Amy is passionate, ambitious, she can fluently express herself in both English and Chinese, freely staking her claim alongside fellow students. She showcases her creativity with great assurance. Her mother likens the transformation as from an ugly duckling to a majestic swan. At Burton, we share the thrill and reassurance of Amy’s amazing achievements. As for Amy, her creative life blossoms!
