From Our Desks To You:

Dear Members,

I know I say this every year, but I cannot believe another year has passed. This year especially has flown by. Here at the UClub it has been filled with an unprecedented number of new activities, celebrations, and growth, made possible by Sarah, her team, and all of you.

I would like to thank every one of you who have been so active at our Club this past year, participating in events, bringing friends and family for a drink or a meal, and reaching out to connect with other members. We set ourselves a goal of becoming more member focused. Seeing you all here enjoying your Club and actively fostering connections and pursuing your shared interests is what it is all about.

Indeed, our Club is only as vibrant, warm, and exciting as we ourselves make it. Sarah and her team work

hard to put together the wonderful programs and opportunities we enjoy at the UClub. I know I speak for all of us when I tell them a heartfelt Thank You for all that they do. I cannot wait to see what they have lined up for us in this new year, and what all of you – our dear members – will bring to the table as well. (A reminder that Sarah’s door is always open for your comments, concerns, suggestions, requests, and ideas.)

I am looking forward to another wonderful year together at the Club. Let’s all continue to show up, connect, celebrate, and grow together. It is what our Club is all about, and what makes the UClub truly special.

Dear Members,

Thank you. Thank you to all of you for another incredible year at the UClub. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the many activities, events, meals, field trips, classes, drinks, and fun at the Club this year. Thank you to everyone who brought in Toys for Tots and donated to the Staff Holiday Fund. Your generosity and participation in Club life is cherished and appreciated. It is an honor to see our Club so warm and vibrant.

As we head into the new year, I do want to touch on a few quick housekeeping matters:

• A reminder that you should have all received your 2023 parking decals in the mail. Please be sure to put those on the front or back window of your vehicle. Our parking lot is for members and your guests only. Guests are welcome to use the parking lot while visiting the Club with you and do not need a sticker for their visit.

• We have noticed an uptick in members not reading their weekly emails and/or checking the online calendar before requesting reservations, as well as members sadly missing events, classes, or speakers because they did not know about them.

We do ask that our members try to stay abreast of what is happening at the Club. You can read your weekly emails (sent from memberservices@uclubsb. org); check the online calendar (login into your member account at www.uclubsb.org/login); or take one of the flyers posted at the Club each monthwatch out for the new information rack as you head out to the Sola Patio! If you have any questions, please do not ever hesitate to reach out to us.

(Please note that the quarterly UClub magazine -available online and at the Club- offers a great overview, but does not show any additions or changes that might be made throughout the quarter. Online is your best source of information about the Club.)

6 THE 1919 MAGAZINE | WINTER 2023

• We do have occasional special ‘Gold Evenings’ for members and your guests during which there is no regular dinner served. The bar, however, is always open for drinks. You are more than welcome to stop by the bar any time we are open – also during special evenings, even if those evenings are sold out. You will just not be able to order food at the bar on special ‘gold’ evenings.

• For all of your private event needs (private lunches, business meetings, celebrations, etc.), our Private Events Manager Christy Sullivan is at the ready to assist you. Please email her at ChristyS@uclubsb.org For additional member and membership information, updates, and more, please see pages 8-11. Please also do not hesitate to reach out to us at any time.

My team and I are excited for this new year. We look forward to seeing you all here and helping you to continue to foster lasting connections, friendships, and wonderful memories together. As an aside - we have a lot of new members who joined us this past year. Please be sure to reach out and say hello if you see an unfamiliar face. The connections and shared camaraderie among all of you are what makes our Club so welcoming and fun all year round. As always, thank you for all that you do for your Club!

MEMBERSHIP REMINDERS & ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Are You Missing All The Fun??!

We have noticed an uptick in members not reading their weekly emails and/or checking the online calendar before requesting reservations or coming to the Club for meals (and finding that there is a special event on which is sold out). Similarly, some of you have recently been sad to miss events, classes, or speakers you would have liked to attend but were not aware of.

We want you all to be able to fully enjoy your Club! To that end, we do ask everyone to please stay informed about Club offerings and activities. We offer a number of different ways to keep up to date and regularly hear about our exciting offerings:

1. Weekly emails (with easy to register links) are sent out to all members, listing upcoming events and any exciting additions or updates to the calendar.

2. The online calendar on the members website is always up to date (www.uclubsb.org/login).

3. There are event flyers posted at the Club each month (feel free to take one with you any time!).

*Note: We do often add additional events or promotions to the calendar throughout the quarter as they come up. Those will not be listed in this publication. Read about them in the weekly emails and find them online.

Parking Decals

2023 parking decals were mailed out to everyone along with our holiday card. Please let us know if you did not receive yours. Please place your decal on the front or back window of your car. Help us ensure our parking lot is reserved for our members. (Your guests may park in the parking lot during their visit with you at the Club - they do not need a decal for their short stay.)

Special UClub Gold Evenings - Reservations Required & No Walk Ins (Except for the Bar!)

A reminder that we do occasionally have special ‘UClub Gold Evening’ member events - exclusive culinary evenings or large member events held in lieu of regular dinner. Our UClub Gold Evenings are appropriately designated in gold color on the calendars on pages 3-5 of this publication. Food, service, seating, and more is special ordered and prepared well ahead of time for these special evenings. As Such:

1. Reservations are required ahead of time for all UClub Gold Evenings (deadlines indicated for each event).

2. Walk-ins are not possible.

3. There is no regular dinner menu available or served on UClub Gold Evenings. Only the special event food is prepped and served.

Bar IS Open - No Reservations Needed! (Also During Special Meals)

* The BAR IS OPEN from 5-8pm, Tuesday-Friday, also during special meals (on UClub Gold Evenings - see above), no reservations needed, even if the special meal is sold out. You are always welcome to stop by for drinks at the bar, regardless of the event or meal - you will just not be able to order dinner on UClub Gold nights.

Don’t Forget - You May Bring Guests!

We keep getting asked, “May I bring a guest to this?” The answer is YES! UClub members have guest privileges and may invite guests to join them for meals and member functions (including most member events, activities, lectures, demos, and member social clubs and societies). The number of guests each member may bring varies depending on the parameters of each event or activity.

• Non-member guests must be invited and accompanied by a member at all times to dine or attend member functions at the Club.

• For regular meals - you are welcome to add your guests to your member account for payment, or you can have each guest pay for themselves at the conclusion of your meal. Our servers can ring them up with cash or credit card.

• For events & activities - your guests will be added to your account for billing, unless pre-payment via credit card is available (see each event listing).
