We have so many awesome long standing members mixed with outstanding new members which is a great combination to have. 2022 will be an even better year! Our Santa Brunch is officially SOLD OUT on Sunday so I look forward to seeing all of you here at the club. Santa Claus is anxious to meet all of the kiddos. Also, if you don’t have plans yet for New Year’s Eve, you don’t want to miss our party! There is still plenty of space so round up your family and friends and join us for the festivities! Enjoy your weekend and Happy Holidays!

AGRONOMY
Joe Cuneo | Superintendent The weather has certainly changed in recent weeks. We’ve had over 11 inches of rain so far this winter with another 3 in the forecast for next week. We will more than likely be without carts on the course for a while as there is still standing water on #4 fairway 2 days after the last measurable rainfall. While we cannot get on the golf course we will be doing some replacement of plant material around the clubhouse, renovating some landscape beds, and improving irrigation for the clubhouse landscape. Once we can get back on the golf course we will begin removing dead and damaged trees, trimming in select areas, and removing some overgrowth along property lines that affect irrigation uniformity. Thank you for your patience and support while we are experiencing frost delays and countless days without carts due to wet conditions.

MEMBERSHIP HAPPENINGS Karyn Yarris | Membership and Marketing Director
I can’t believe Christmas is just a week away! What an incredible year, I am thrilled to say through 2021 we remained at historically high levels through the year with respect to membership inquiries and new member activity. We continue to be fully sold out on Golf memberships and are nearing a sell-out on Social memberships as well. When I began my career here at the club almost three years ago, I recall that I told Rusty my goal was to sell out the club in under 5 years. I am thrilled we were able to make that happen in just 2 years. The end of the year also brought us the opportunity to once again bring joy to Foster Children in our community and you members really stepped up in sponsoring 75 children this year, thank you! Finally, you may have noticed we rolled out an upgrade to our App this week. With the upgrade you will see that when you launch the app, on the main screen we have loaded icons for our 6 most popular functions at the top. It is our hope that this update will enhance the app experience and ease of use. Thank you for a wonderful year at the club and Happy Holidays to each of you!

NINERS
Cathy Raycraft & Kathy Magrino (Co-Captains) If you are a woman golfing member interested in playing golf at El Macero with other women who enjoy golf, the Niners Ladies golf group is a great way to get started. The Niners at El Macero play a round of 9 or 18 holes every Tuesday morning. As a nine-hole golf group, we are members of the Women's Nine Hole Golf Association (WNHGA) which gives us the opportunity to participate at other Northern California private country clubs' Invitationals and Open Day events. We also join in Team Play events and compete with other country clubs. If you would like information on joining the Niners group at El Macero, please contact our Membership Chair Jeanne Egan at (530) 219-4623 or our Co-Membership Chair Lori Carpenter at (530) 681-2515. NINERS CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON & HOLIDAY SCRAMBLE The Niners are so grateful for many things this holiday season and one of those things was the return of our Annual Christmas Luncheon that was held on Tuesday, December 14, 2021. The tables were decorated with a beautiful Angel Theme. Kathy Magrino presented each Niner with an Angel Ball Marker and shared the story of how one golfer she played with attributed her golfing success to the “angel on her shoulder.” Kathy shared her wish for us all to have golfing success. All the food was excellent. Much appreciation goes to the El Macero kitchen and service team and to Jeanne Egan and Nancy Stephenson who planned the luncheon with helpers Lisa Adda and Dana Hawkins. Mayet Reina shared a fun video compilation of the Niners events over the past two years that we all enjoyed. Finally, we expressed our appreciation to our Captain Cathy Raycraft and Co-Captain Kathy Magrino who have provided excellent leadership over the past year. We are especially grateful to Cathy Raycraft who has been our Niners Captain for the past 6 years. As one Niner put it… "She is the only Captain I have ever had." Thank you for keeping golf with the number one rule - “Have fun!” We are all appreciative of Cathy’s dedication to this great fun group of golfing women.
Thank you Captain Cathy!!!

NINERS Continued...
Before this fabulous luncheon, several of the Niners braved the muddy course (after several days of rain, but clear for the day) and participated in the Holiday Scramble that was organized by Game Day Chair, Kim Beck. Congratulations go to the winning team of Rosalind Tyson, Karen Fouts, Judy Reyes, and Jeanny Park with a score below par of 35! There was a tie for second place with a score of 38. The teams were Wendy Amundsen, Kim Beck, Catherine Buscaglia, and Sandi Erba & Trudy DeFelice, Kathy Magrino, Jenifer Newell, and Kathy Barrientes. The winner of the best Holiday Attire was Linda Lingbloom.

WOMEN'S GOLF GROUP (WGG) Dorothy Yerxa (Captain) and Diane Kavrell (Co-Captain)
Our 2021 Women’s Golf Group (WGG) year joyfully wrapped up with our annual WGG Awards Lunch. This festive lunch gathering celebrated the 2021 WGG golf year, presenting awards to WGG golfers who achieved great strides in their golf game over the year. JoAnn Cannon earned most improved WGG golfer of the year and Barbara Grant earned “low putts award” for this year. Many other WGG prizes were awarded for eclectic play, WGANC pin, the most birdies, sandy pars and chip-ins for the year. The late November White Elephant tournament, lunch and gift exchange was a great success with White Elephant gifts providing laughs and fun. “Stealing” of one another's gifts was allowed for those who landed on the green on their drive on hole #7. “Gifted prizes” ranged from an electric mosquito swatting racquet, electric wine opener, 1/2 full bottle of whiskey, air plants on a log, multi-file office paper folder amongst many other “gift” options to choose from. We had our final WGG Board lunch the first week of December., traditionally celebrated at the WGG Captain’s home. After having to cancel our 2020 WGG annual Awards lunch and board lunch last year due to Covid, it was gratifying to celebrate a year of golf for both at years’ end, 2021. The 2021 WGG Captain, Dorothy Yerxa has passed on WGG leadership to Diane Kavrell, 2022 Captain. WGG has been enjoying 60 years as an El Macero golf organization, with current WGG membership at 64 women.
