GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE Rusty Seymour | General Manager

February is off to a nice start especially this week with the another solid rainstorm or two before Spring is over.

responses (including some Troon managed courses). Ninety-seven percent of clubs indicated the ability to attract hourly labor is more difficult and 88% reported it being Extremely or Moderately Difficult. In addition, 7080% of clubs are unable to fill all of their Food & Beverage positions. Although it is nice to see most other clubs are experiencing the same struggles as we are, it still doesn’t help us solve the problems. We continue to constantly look for qualified candidates to join our Food and Beverage team and are hopeful we can reach the staffing levels needed to give you all consistent hours of operation and service. GENERAL MANAGER'S MESSAGE Continued...

Chef Kaharim have had some promising interviews in the past week so stay tuned as we hopefully can bring on more team members. Thank you so much for your patience over the last year as we have had to navigate our way through this pandemic which required some uncertainty on hours of operation. If you see me around the club and I look a little more tan than usual it is because I just got back from a week in Nuevo Vallarta with 40 of our awesome members. The weather, company, Marival Luxury Residence Resort, and views were unmatched. ILT Golf Vacations does a tremendous job of organizing golf vacations to paradise especially for Northern California golf clubs. I thought I’d share just a few pictures of our memorable week in Mexico (see below). Keep your eyes open this summer when we start promoting next year’s trip and we will look to put together an even bigger group! You don’t HAVE to golf to attend, so keep that in mind. Have a great weekend and I hope The Big Game will be at least a close game since my Broncos didn’t quite make it this year!

FOOD AND BEVERAGE Keith Culley | Food and Beverage Director

Early nice weather has sparked spring cleaning mode within our Food and Beverage department. We ordered a 10’x10’ shed to help store our overflowing banquet tables and chairs in the fall and have been piecing it together in the loading doc the last couple weeks. This shed allows us to keep the back area more clean and gives a home to the tables that have been leaning against the building near the banquet room. The nail pounding and power tool noise will continue next week as we finish the roof and paint. Check out the pictures!

With the nicer weather comes patio dining and rays of sun. Umbrellas will be out this weekend. Please remember to see the host before seating so that we may offer you effective and timely service. Next Thursday, February 17, Royal Cup Coffee will be coming out to pour tastes of several of their coffee products for Casual Coffee. We will be having a member vote and the majority winner will become our next house coffee. The offering will be in place of Casual Wine and will run from 5-6 PM. Don’t miss it if you want input! It is unfortunate that I must inform you all that our Banquet Chef, Dylan Llewelyncurry, had his last day with us on January 26. Dylan had worked with us for the past 7 years developing himself and, in the last couple years, our Back of House team as a team lead. We will miss him dearly and rooting for him and his future endeavors. Tamarie Gleason, another Kitchen Lead, will be moving from Back of House into the Front of House once again. Tami started as a busser years ago then was poached by Chef Kaharim when she showed talent and work ethic he needed at the time. We are excited for Tami to continue her growth with us and welcome her hospitality forward personality in the Front of House as we jump into season business.

MEMBERSHIP HAPPENINGS Karyn Yarris | Membership and Marketing Director

Happy almost Valentines Day! This warmer weather sure is bringing out the interest in membership. Social inquiries in particular are up and I think people are already dreaming of a summer filled with poolside fun. With a brand new social member just welcomed to the Club today, I expect interest will continue. Just a quick reminder to let any friends and family interested in membership know that we are nearing a sell out and now is an ideal time to join! Thank you to those members who have already made the switch to paperless statements! Not only is it good for the environment (saving all those trees) but it also ensures that you receive your statements quicker. Please enjoy your choice of a complimentary beverage or dessert as our way of saying “thank you” for making the switch. It is not too late! To switch to paperless statements, simply call the Club and speak to Rachel at (530) 753-3363 or send her a quick email at rachel.slusser@troon.com letting her know you would like to switch to email delivery and she will make that change for you. She will also email you the complimentary certificate of your choosing, so please be sure to include whether you would like a dessert or beverage certificate when contacting her. To clarify, this is ONLY for receiving statements. Payment options have not changed. I would like to wish each of you a very Happy Valentines Day and thank you for your continued membership at the Club. Let's welcome one of our new members!

Are there any restrictions on when I can play or when I can bring guests? What is Pace of Play and Time Par? What are the different things I can do to keep up with the Pace of Play? What is a handicap index and do I need one? What is the difference between using a private golf cart vs an El Macero cart? What exactly is golf etiquette? How can I take care of the course when I play? Are there driving range rules, and if so what are they? What if I don’t have golf clubs but I want to start learning to play? We will be answering these questions and many others that come up in our

Kathy Magrino + Karen Roth (Co-Captains) Welcoming new Niner members Jamie Doughtery, Kim Lien, and Laura Walcott. The El Macero Niners are an extremely varied group. Their Handicap Indexes range from 12.9 to 54.0 with a median of 34.4. Some Niners started playing golf a year ago and some have been playing golf for many decades! On February 1, the Niners had their first shotgun of 2022 and were able to share a buffet lunch at the Club and hold the first in-person meeting of the year (January was on Zoom). Our group is looking forward to monthly Tuesday shotguns and an occasional shared shotgun with the Women’s Golf Group. Captain Kathy Magrino introduced two new Chair positions – Linda Lingbloom as Golf Rules Chair and Claudia Salquist as Golf Etiquette Chair. Each month these Chairpersons will provide timely information for Niner members.

TENNIS LIST (YOUR INFO NEEDED) For those who may not be aware, there is a list of tennis playing members posted on the El Macero website. We need your help to get this list up to date. Over the last year we’ve seen a huge increase in the number of players at the club, many of whom are not yet on the list. We’ve also added a place for you to list your level of play to make it easier for folks to connect with others who are at or near their same experience level. Please visit the tennis list to make sure your information is included and current.

MARCH ADULT CLINICS I’m looking forward to holding two clinics in March, and I will continue having the clinics from 9:00 – 10:30am. Each session is limited to 8 members, and registrations are handled through the club’s online system. If you are having any trouble with registration, please call the office for assistance. The cost for each clinic is $25/person and I ask that you PLEASE cancel your reservation

- If you play a lot of doubles’, you are spending approximately half of your time at the net. For most players this percentage is lower for singles, however knowing how to navigate the net is crucial for singles play as well because once you’re up there you have the entire court to cover alone. In this clinic we will work on our volley and overhead technique, as well as placement for a variety of situations. Sunday, March 6 - Forehands & Backhands Sunday, March 13 - Net Play Day
