Arizona Cardinals sign Williams and Moore BY CHRISTINA FUOCO-KARASINSKI Glendale Star Executive Editor
The Arizona Cardinals Football Club signed defensive lineman Xavier Williams to a one-year contract and wide receiver Rondale Moore to a four-year contract. In according with club policy, terms were not disclosed. Moore was the team’s second-round selection in the 2021 NFL draft. The Cardinals now have all seven members of their 2021 NFL draft class under contract. Williams (6-foot-2, 309) returns to the Cardinals after playing 23 games (two starts) in three seasons (2015 to 2017) with the team after entering
the league as an undrafted rookie free agent from Northern Iowa in 2015. He spent two seasons (2018 to 2019) with the Chiefs before playing with New England and Cincinnati last season. In his career, the 29-year-old Williams has played in 56 games (nine starts) and had 107 tackles (65 solo), four sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and four tackles for loss. Following his three years with the Cardinals, Williams signed with the Chiefs as a free agent in 2018. He start-
ed last year with Patriots and played in one game before appearing in 11 contests (three starts) with the Bengals. Williams also played in four postseason games during his tenure with the Chiefs, including winning Super Bowl LIV following the 2019 season. Moore (5-foot7, 181) left Purdue with 1,915 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns on 178 receptions to go along with 248 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries. He also returned 42 kickoffs for 813 yards and 17 punts for 118 yards during his time
with the Boilermakers. Moore averaged 8.9 receptions and 95.8 receiving yards per game (20 games) during his career. As a true freshman in 2018, he had 114 receptions for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns, while adding 213 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries. Moore also returned 13 kickoffs for 662 yards and 12 punts for 82 yards. He won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player and became the first true freshman in Big Ten history to earn consensus All-American honors. A New Albany, Indiana, native, Moore graduated from Purdue in 2.5 years after taking 27 credit hours during the 2020 fall semester.
