Executive Assistant / Administration Support to the NZ Hearing CEO Wanaka

We are seeking a dynamic person to join our team as an Executive Assistant and Administrator for the NZ Hearing Group Wanaka.

Our director is looking for a professional experienced Administrator to provide both secretarial and administrative support to the NZ Hearing Clinic in Wanaka and the CEO.

The position is based in Wanaka working approximately 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the point of contact between the Director and internal/external clients.

• Manage CEO diary, schedule meetings and appointments.

• Administration for the NZ Hearing Clinic Wanaka.

Would suit someone with previous work experience as an EA and knowledge of the audiology industry would be an advantage, however full training will be given to the right candidate.

We have kept ourselves busy at the Wanaka Police Station over the past couple of weeks.

We had an increase in numbers in our little town over the school holidays and with that, brought a number of poor driving incidents. We do our best to attend these as we want to make our roads safe. If you have a passenger in the car, please get them to take footage. This provides Police good evidence should they contest or are unaware of what they were doing.

In the early hours of Sunday morning Police stopped a vehicle on Mount Iron Drive. The female driver undertook initial breath test procedures and then refused to accompany officers back to the Police vehicle/station. Her two female passengers decided to obstruct the process. The driver then resisted arrest and spat at a Police officer and attempted to escape. She was eventually processed and returned a positive breath result of 600mcg/L. She has been charged accordingly and the other two will join her in the coming days.

It is sad that the message is still not getting through in relation to drinking and driving. Five drivers that were processed had readings over the legal limit on the weekend. The results ranged from receiving a ticket in the mail and getting demerit points on your licence, to receiving a summons to court and explaining your actions to the judge.

When we drive around at all hours, we still see garage doors wide open, unlocked vehicles or nice-looking items on display for sticky fingers to take. Save yourself the hassle and secure your property.

I’m sure for many the skis will be getting stored and the bike being dusted off. Whether you are hitting the trails or using your bike to commute, please put your helmet on. The social cost is too high to pay for your rehab should you crash.

With schools going back on Monday, we are putting out a reminder that when you come across a school bus, all vehicles, traveling in either direction, are required to travel at no more than 20km/h when passing a stationary school bus. Keep an eye out for kids around the buses as they don’t always make good decisions and can pop up on you very quickly.

Kahu Youth New Youth Centre Opening

Kahu Youth Trust is delighted to be one of the foundation tenants in Wānaka’s new youth and community centre Paetara Aspiring Central, an initiative of QLDC.

Kahu Youth will open its new youth centre doors on Tuesday, 24 October for drop-in sessions, open to all Upper Clutha youth aged 11 years and up.

Drop-In Sessions

Our free drop-in sessions at our youth centre gives youth a safe and inclusive space, where they can hang out with friends, have fun and engage in activities such as: arts and crafts, music, safe gaming, games, baking, basketball, and much more! During these sessions youth build quality relationships with Youth Workers, acting as a safety net of support should they need.

Once a Heart Kid, Always a Heart Kid

This week alone, 12 kiwi families will be told their child has a heart condition. In Central Otago alone there are currently 18 families with a child that has a congenitive heart disorder and the Heart Kids Central Otago branch is wrapping them and their families in love and support.

Heart families can be faced with separation, isolation, stress, nancial hardship, and loneliness during their journey. The future is uncertain, and these families need support.

“When we get asked if our daughter is all better now, the answer is never yes,” says Arna Craig, Ida’s mum.

Heart Kids Central Otago would like to invite all heart families along to their upcoming dessert evening, which will give heart parents the opportunity to connect with each other and grow their support network in what is a very ‘medically isolated’ region of New Zealand. A new club has just started in Wanaka where members can meet and use their radio-controlled models in an indoor space.

The Club meets at the Wanaka Recreation Centre each Saturday between 10.00am and 11.00am, where they rent a basketball court, if available.
