This Saturday the 20th of June we will be celebrating Matariki once again at the Dinosaur Park! We’ll have our usual workshops and kapa haka performances, a ‘story corner’ for the little ones, two bonfires on the shore with fire poi all around and loads more. There are also a few surprises littered throughout the afternoon and evening and to top it all off, our amazing fireworks will be back again; so make sure you hang about! This is the sixth year we’ve had these celebrations and this truly is a community event. We are always humbled by the level of help, support and plain old hard graft we have received from the community to put this on. This year, the Light up Wanaka team have stepped up and helped fund the fireworks. This was achieved through a large number of local businesses chipping in a bit each, all coordinated by our new favourite people at Light up Wanaka! So we send a massive community thank you to: Lake Wanaka Tourism, Cardrona Ski Field, Gin & Raspberry, Mitre 10, Paper Plus, Professionals Real

Estate, Radio Wanaka, Te Wanaka Lodge, Treble Cone, Wanaka Baby and Wanaka Selection. We couldn’t have had the Fireworks without you all! On top of that, we would also like to thank (In no particular order); The Ministry of Youth Development, Duncan McRae, QLDC, Snowdrifta, ‘Dynamite’ Dave, M.A.C students in the community plus all the phenomenal local young people and adults alike who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes for the last few weeks to help pull this all together. Without all of you doing what you do, and giving what you give, we couldn’t come close to pulling this off.
