On 23rd and 24th March, Pembroke Park will be alive with Wanaka’s first 24-hour Relay For Life. Businesses, families, friends and community groups are coming together to celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer and raise funds for the Cancer Society in our region.

Jane Sharman, the Wanaka Relay For Life coordinator, has been inspired by the support from the local community; providing sponsorships and prizes, offering entertainment and performances, entering teams and fundraising. “Talking to people about why they are involved, the stories that come up are often surprising and humbling. Everyone has been or will be impacted by cancer, personally or through a family member or friend. Relay is an opportunity to walk in honour of someone, to demonstrate hope and determination, and to show your support as part of our community - these sentiments are symbolised by the superhero theme.”

You will take turns to walk (or run) for 24 hours and will have an allocated campsite around the track. • Register at www.relayforlife.org.nz for $25 per person (includes team campsite, t-shirt, candle bag/candle, and hot breakfast on Sunday). • Begin your fundraising and planning! • If you are unable to participate but are keen to volunteer at the event, we’d love to hear from you.
