The Love You Are!

Never allow yourself to think that there is something wrong with you when it feels like others choose to put you second in their world. Sometimes your love is just too big for them to allow in as it sometimes shows them areas in their life where they require learning and growth, yet they are simply not ready or not willing to go there for fear of hurt, sadness, anger, abandonment or rejection. So, rather than choosing the love, support and happiness that is

being offered to them they choose what is comfortable, what is familiar rather than what their soul is asking for them to reach for, for your love!

When someone chooses to ignore you, to lie to you, to hurt you, to abandon you, it is important that you remember you are being shown the other person’s wound and that it is through this wound that love can enter, where they can be brought into love. You must remember though that you cannot bring them into your love unless they choose with their freewill to open to it and accept it unconditionally. It is important that you choose to stay in your love, joyful and peaceful space all of the time, no matter what is happening outside of you or for those you truly care about to be allowed to come into their love when they choose and when they are ready.

What we ask you to do today is to let all of the wounding you had experienced in the past go and allow the love to enter you. For you are ready for greater things, greater opportunities, greater joy, greater love, greater passion!

Improving Self Esteem/Self Confidence

Self Esteem/Self Confidence ... While many think that self esteem and self confidence are similar if not the same, they are actually quite different.

Self esteem refers to how we feel about ourselves ... our self worth.

Since birth, how we see ourselves has been shaped by how people have treated us and the myriad of experiences and situations we have faced. Do we feel good about ourselves or do we feel ‘not good enough’? Is there positive or negative self talk?

Self confidence on the other hand refers to how we feel about our abilities towards a specific situation.

This can vary greatly from one situation to the next. You may sound good singing in the shower, however, singing for the first time in front of a large crowd, your self confidence could plummet. Self confidence is about believing in your ability to be successful.

One may have healthy self esteem and still lack self confidence about a situation, for example, how to set up the new television, multi-media and surround sound system in the lounge room. Or one could have low self esteem feeling worthless and unloved and yet know they are good at doing certain things like their job, or are good with numbers.

We can improve low self esteem (sense of worth) and lack of self confidence (ability regarding a situation). Improving one will have a flow on effect on the other. Working on both is better.

Ways of improving Self Esteem: Flip any negative self talk to its positive version by replacing I should/must/can’t ... to ... I choose/want/going to as this can raise vibrations or pull them down, so become aware and choose the words which empower you. Another word to remove when describing yourself as ‘just’. For example, a common one I hear is ‘I’m just a mum’, change it to ‘I’m a mum’ or ‘I’m a wonderful mum’ and feel good about it.

When someone says something complimentary to you, don’t dismiss it ... accept it and say thank you to the person.

Remember who YOU are.

Journal what you like about yourself and what you do well, focus on the positives and what you can change, bring

them into your being and continue adding to them.

Everyone is different, focus on you and not others.

Include fun in your day by doing things that you enjoy as balance is important.

Celebrate who you are and the progress you are making.

Start shifting your focus from people who criticize and bring you down to those who make you feel better about yourself.

Set clear boundaries between yourself and others about what you will and will not do.

Ways of Improving Self Confidence: Do the work and be prepared.

It’s by learning, practicing and repeating, that we prepare ourselves for the task ahead.

The more we practice and are prepared, the more confident we are.

Take small steps. Set achievable targets at first. It’s best to break big goals into smaller bits as the more you achieve, the more confident you become.

It’s about doing your best ... and that is good enough. Mistakes

happen to everyone, that’s life. Breathe, learn and move on.

Gratitude ties all this together. Be grateful for the little things (and on the harder days it’s even more important). Remember, the more we become aware of the positive changes, the more positive changes occur.

Value, Honour & Love Self

BY BELINDA EVANS Let me just state this…. It is not selfish to love yourself and it’s not selfish to put yourself first. It’s actually selfresponsible. It took me a long time to get my head around that because as a mother, it was my job to care for and nurture others and therefore, my needs, wants or desires went on the backburner and it was a looooooong time before I started having confidence in myself and recognising my worth.

You might rebuild your material world in whatever way you need to or perhaps you’ll move to a new location, however, you still won’t be happy because you haven’t worked on the root cause… you decide it’s too hard again then you get back on the merry-go-round that is your life, right?

How many of you have heard words to the effect of, ‘in order to love others and fully embrace what love means with authenticity and integrity, you must love yourself first, wholly and completely’. Can you honestly say you love and respect yourself exactly the way you are? Can you say ‘I am worthy of all the amazing things that this life has to offer’ and actually believe it to be true? And now, how many of you allow others to determine and guide your own happiness and worth?

For those who struggled with the answers, how do you expect others to value, honour

and love you if you don’t even love yourself? You and you alone have to be self-responsible, take personal responsibility for where you are at in yourself, to get in alignment with value, honour and loving yourself in your thoughts, actions and emotions. It may not be pretty to start with and there’ll be tears and/or tantrums but just remember, you can’t solve a problem using the same thinking that created it…. So sometimes you need to do things a little bit differently in order to grow and thrive.

You deserve to be and feel confident, have inner peace and being worthy and respected is your birthright so rip the Band-Aid off and find the real authentic you… the person who isn’t buried or hiding in a big pile of ‘stuff’ because you are worth more than that. Respect yourself for the individual you are and carry yourself with integrity, grace and dignity because you’re worth it. At the end of the day, if you aren’t willing to back yourself, how the bloody hell do you expect anyone else to?

The Personal Energy of Self-Esteem

BY PAUL AND PHOEBE HOOGENDYK It is impossible to talk about selfconfidence and self-esteem without first acknowledging whether they are the same or similar. If nothing else we have learnt over our many years of experience that self- confidence and self- esteem may seem like the same thing but they are not.

For instance…you can be self-confident enough to stand in front of a crowd and deliver a talk and yet at the same time feel you are not worthy of any accolades that may come your way…..lack of self-esteem. In other words you can be self-confident without a shred of self-esteem. The major difference is: Self Confidence can be learnt and taught almost instantly these day whereas self- esteem comes from a much deeper place within. It is an unerring belief in yourself that cannot be taught by others but must be learnt and dare we say it, earned

from ourselves. For the majority of us it has to be built block by block, bit by bit, day by every day. An ongoing constantly evolving and developing part of self. Repaired when it is broken by a word or act performed, normally by another that undermines that burgeoning and fragile belief in oneself.

You can pretend to be selfconfident but you cannot pretend to have self- belief…it will always show in your words and actions especially when you talk about yourself. It will be the words in your inner dialogue and thoughts. This would be the first place to start looking at how you really see and talk about you.

Also the joking put downs we all use to describe ourselves to others that we secretly “know” or “believe” to be true.

The Elders of tribes, even today, are recognised as such because of their self-esteem. They know it is their place to hold the wisdom and knowledge of the world, the Universe and the tribe. To pass it on. They stood in their own power and knowing of who they were; wisdom and knowledge/knowing: the basis of selfesteem. Learnt over years of listening, of putting it into practise. Of walking their talk and learning to totally trust their instincts and inner truths, not only for themselves but for the good of all.

It is only when you go beyond self that you realise that your personal growth is not only for yourself but others. This is self-esteem. It is what you pass on to others as well as your children and grandchildren. Known as “Mana” by the Maori of Aotearoa/New Zealand, selfesteem is what they worked on every day. It is the personal energy that you carry. It is how you show up and address situations and daily life challenges. Think of a highly trained master in Martial Arts. He doesn’t need to say or do anything. It is the energy of self that he carries with him that calls forward respect from self and others. Self-esteem goes hand in hand with self-respect. To gain self-esteem is to “polish” your soul each day.

Kids Confidence: Learning from Mistakes

BY JULIE MCNEAL When my husband came home from work and told me about the Copperas Cove Pageant I admit I was a little skeptical. You see back home in Australia Pageants aren't a huge thing but here in the United States they are very popular and can be a bit of a big deal. When I lived in Australia and I heard the word "Pageant" I thought of crazy narcissistic parents and toddlers with way too much makeup on and even oversexualized kids with provocative outfits seen as "cute" while they replicated young women and pop stars!

My husband gave me the information and I had a little read and it seemed like an ok thing for our daughters to do, not the awful idea I had in my mind of a beauty pageant. The prizes seemed good for the kids and even the bag of goodies just for entering seemed like a good investment, with

vouchers for food and entertainment, local attractions and some classes for martial arts academies, dancing or gymnastic schools which my eldest daughter "Lexcie, 10" was super excited about and hoping to win.

The Pageant itself required the children to walk to several points on stage with poise, confidence and a big smile to show their personality (this was all that was required for the babies and toddlers) which my youngest daughter “Lilah, 18 months” was great at. The older age groups had to choose a community platform or charity, talk about it briefly and then answer a random question they pulled out of a basket displaying their ability to think quickly, professionally and have confidence in their ability to speak in front of a public audience.

So, on the day we got Lilah all dressed up in her pretty dress donated and shipped to us by a dear

friend in Memphis Tennessee, I did her hair and let out her beautiful natural curls and we matched her purple socks to go over her leg braces and match her dress.

Lilah was born with a severe form of Spina Bifida which is a birth defect that effects the brain and spine which causes Lilah to have some physical disabilities and agreed it might be a good thing to enter her into the pageant.

I wanted Lilah to grow up and see that her disability didn't need to get in the way of her amazing personality shining through and making a difference in the world as well as to minutes of parading around like a little see you can still have a disability, be confident doll. It just felt YUCK! Something about beautiful, innocent little ones who have no idea what is going on, why they are there or the fact they are being judged for how "happy" they seemed started to pull at my soul strings. I felt like I had put my amazing little girl in front of all these people without her proper consent to be judged for her personality after a whole 3

After Lilah’s experience that morning I was not particularly keen for my eldest daughter, Lexcie. to be put on the same platform to be "judged" but she was so excited as she's a natural born performer, very artistic singing and dancing her way through life at every turn). I had to pretend I wasn't fazed and just go with the flow and allow the experience to unfold.

For the older kids, I started to think well this is kind of fun for them, they get a day in the salon getting hair and makeup done (what 10 year old doesn’t

love that?) and a fancy dress and pretty jewelry and shoes to wear and a moment on stage to feel like a superstar, of course my little girl was super excited for that! But that sinking feeling was still there, I was praying my beautiful girl wouldn't get on that stage and compare herself to the other 15 girls in her group and start picking at herself that she wasn't enough which is what is so deeply engrained in our culture these days.

Much to our delight, our amazing girl strutted out onto the stage with confidence and poise like a superstar! As she walked toward the pageant narrator to speak about her community platform (Spina Bifida awareness in honor of her little sister) and answer her random question she started to get very nervous when it came to her having to speak.

The confidence drained from her face as she stumbled over her words trying to explain her cause. Once she got it out she recovered for a split second until they announced the question and she froze once again unable to comprehend the very difficult question she

was given. It was heart breaking to watch, e l from my seat in the audience I could see thook of disappointment in herself written all over her beautiful little face and it crushed me. Again, I thought to myself "what have I done?”

Lexcie dusted herself off on stage as well as she could but as soon as she left the stage she came to me crying her eyes out and I felt I had failed her allowing her to do this. We reassured her how amazing and confident she looked up there and that most kids her age stumbled a little with their words, that she wasn't the only one, everything we possibly could to restore her belief in herself and that just having the confidence to be up there was an achievement in itself. She recovered quickly and went and sat with her group.

Later, Lexcie came to us and we said "its ok Lex, it was a learning curve you don't have to do it ever again if you don't want to", she looked us straight in the face and said "oh I'm doing it again next year, I know what mistake I made with the speaking part and next time I think I can do it heaps better". Part of me was hoping she wouldn't want to do it again but when those words came out of her mouth I realized that I was really proud of her. To fall off the horse on a public platform like that and immediately dust yourself off and want to jump straight back on again speaks volumes to me

about her character and the strong and honest young lady I am raising.

Although I have decided I'm not a pageant fan, I have decided if my girls choose to do a scholarship (not beauty) pageant of their own free will at an age where they are mature enough to understand what they are doing I will allow it. The good side of the pageant was the association to charity and emphasis on community, volunteering and the ideal of self-confidence and self-belief. As for the toddlers and babies sections, I absolutely feel it’s ridiculous and unnecessary and will never entertain that idea ever again!

One of the biggest learnings for me as a mother is that as hard as I try I cannot shelter my children from experiences. If there's something they feel pulled to do I may need to step back sometimes no matter how uncomfortable it makes me and allow them to sink or hopefully swim because that's how they learn to get back up in life or learn to succeed, I can't always get in the way and try to save them no matter how much I want to.

It's Not All About Winning!

BY LEXCIE JACOBSFUIMAONO (10 YEARS OLD) Hi my name is Lexcie and I am 10 years old. Last month I entered a Pageant here in the United States to give it a try.

The pageant was like a really big coopetition.

end I was ok.

I looked nice when my makeup and hair was all done. When they had the practice day I was pretty confident that I could do well but on the actual day it didn’t go how I planned.

In the Pageant we had to answer two basic questions and have a platform or charity. For example, my platform was "Spina Bifida awareness", it was difficult. Yes I did make some mistakes but that doesn't mean that I won't do it next year.

I am going to do it next year because now I know the mistakes I need to fix. Â I was a little nervous that I wasn't going to do well but I found out that it was not all about winning, it's the effort that mostly counts.

Power Animal Message The card which literally flew out of the deck for June is EAGLE. Eagle is one of the highest vibrational Power Animals, having the ability to see the microcosm and the macrocosm. Eagle is considered to be the Power Animal which is closest to Spirit in Native American and other Indigenous traditions because of it’s able to transcend Earth. Eagle is THE carrier of our prayers, questions, and offerings to Spirit, often appearing in the physical or via other means, affirming that we’re on the right path, encouraging us to see beyond the obvious, and/or that our queries are being heard and addressed on all levels.

For June, Eagle asks that we take time to do ceremony or ritual: to sit quietly in meditation to receive guidance that will: boost our selfesteem, release old trauma and drama, and how to make space in our lives and our energy bodies for higher vibrational frequencies and consciousness to become evident within us.
