THE STAR:

Winston-Salam Christian brings a formidable rotation to the table in 2021-22, headlined by four seniors that will share the “star” duties; big man Christ Essandoko, and guards Quante Berry, Amare Haynie & Camian Shell. The Lions will play a very difficult schedule, and have already tested themselves against two of the Overtime Elite squads - losing one of the games by one point and the other in a close battle. If the Lions stay healthy, they will be a strong contender for a top-25 ranking as the season unfolds.

THE SKINNY:

Shell went off in the first game against OTE, pouring in 35 points, seven assists and five rebounds despite his diminutive 5-foot9 stature. If the explosive Shell continues his strong play, head coach Antonio Lowe will have another dependable guard to turn to in addition to Haynie and Berry. Providence fans will have a reason to watch closely, as Berry (247 Comp. 225) and Essandoko (247 Comp. 134) are both committed to be future Friars.
