THE STAR:
Totino-Grace will be the favorite to win the Minnesota 3A state championship in 2021-22, as the Eagles will feature a rotation by five star-ranked recruits, headlined by 6-foot-6 Iowa State commit Demarion Watson and 2023 point guard Taison Chatman. Watson (247 Comp. 156) and Chatman (247 No. 29) will be arguably the best duo in the state, and the 6-foot-4 Chatman will have several talented options when looking to distribute the ball. 6-foot-4 junior CJ O’Hara is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the state, and the super-athletic shooting guard should become a national name this winter. 6-foot-9 Patrick Bath, also a junior, will play major minutes in the frontcourt. Bath (247 Comp. 167) is also a prime candidate to break out, and his life will be made easier by incoming transfer Ahjany Lee. Committed to first-year Division I program St. Thomas Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota, Lee (247 Comp. 197) will provide Carroll with a bouncy, active four-man.

Lee adds some much-needed depth to the frontcourt, and he and Bath should feast against 3A competition in Minnesota. Chatman is a top-30 recruit for a reason, and Watson put up major numbers in Carroll’s system. Anything short of a state championship would be a major let-down for the Eagles, and looking at their schedule, they have a strong chance of going undefeated.
