Team Synopsis: Team Synopsis:

Head coach Dave Leitao has to be excited about his nine-man group, one that features seven former top 100 prospects. Out of the three OTE teams, an argument can be made that Team Leitao is the most balanced - and also the biggest; six of the nine rotation players are 6-foot-6 or taller. The backcourt will be triggered by a guard trio in Bryce Griggs, Bryson Warren, and Ausar Thompson that is as good as any in the country. The biggest issue for this squad might be their lack of experience in comparison to the other OTE teams; Team Leitao features four former members of the 2023 graduating class.

H/T OTEElite

Griggs is a walking bucket, and it will be intriguing to see his progression as a professional. Many feel Griggs’ overall game is tailored for the professional game, and he will have the ball in his hands often. Griggs impressed for over 12 games for JL3 Elite (TX) in the Nike EYBL, averaging 17.5 points, 5.2 assists, 3.9 assists, and 1.2 steals. He has a chance to put up similar numbers for Team Leitao, and if he keeps up the passing production, he should be one of the top overall guards on Overtime Elite’S FULL ROSTER. The same can be said for Warren, a former 5-star prospect in the 2023 class. Warren blew up this spring for Nike EYBL powerhouse MOKAN Elite, parlaying his performance into one of the last major Overtime Elite signings.

THE STAR(S)

THE BACKCOURT

Each and every OTE player will benefit from the tutelage of program coach Kevin Ollie, but perhaps none more than Griggs, Warren, or the third star of the group - Ausar Thompson. A former 5-star prospect in the 2022 class - Thompson is the X-factor of the backcourt. Thompson is capable of impacting the game without having to touch the ball, and the 6-foot-6 wing should operate as the best overall defender on the roster. Coming off the bench receiving important minutes will be former ESPN Top 100 prospect Jaylen Martin, as well as scoring guard Emmanuel Maldonado.

THE FRONTCOURT

6-foot-9 Ryan Bewley - twin brother of Matt - will be a featured member of the frontcourt, as will fellow 6-foot-9 prospect Jalen Lewis. Bewley offers elite length and athleticism, and HIS EVOLUTION AS A BASKETBALL PLAYER should benefit greatly from HIS OTE PEERS AND COACHING STAFF. The same can be said for Lewis, as the former ESPN No. 2 prospect is fresh off representing Team USA on the FIBA U16 Championship team. Lewis is a highly-skilled big man capable of stretching the floor, and there is an argument TO BE MADE that he enters the season as the most promising big man on the roster. 7-footer Jahzare Jackson, formerly of IMG Academy, is oozing with potential, but will need to get in better game-shape in order to play meaningful stretches of minutes in Leitao’s fast-paced offense. Davion Mace was one of the last signings to OTE, and the 6-foot-8 wing will provide OTE with an athletic energy-guy off the bench.
