Team Synopsis: Team Synopsis:

Team Gomes is arguably the most-complete squad among the three, featuring a balanced 9-man rotation headlined by star guards Jazian Gortman and Jean Montero. Head coach Ryan Gomes - a 9-year NBA veteran and former coach in the NBA G-League - will have an athletic lineup at his disposal - one that features two high school underclassmen and three international players. GOMES’ COACHING AND PLAYING EXPERIENCE SHOULD BE INVALUABLE AS THEY Make THEIR WAY THROUGH OTE’S INAUGURAL SEASON.
H/T OTEElite
THE STAR(S)

The aforementioned Gortman and Montero will handle the majority of the on-ball responsibilities for Team Gomes, which means they will likely play fast - and definitely flashy. Gortman exploded over the past calendar year, establishing himself as a top-10 recruit in the 2022 class before signing with OTE. The 6-foot-3 Montero has been playing professionally for nearly two years, and is receiving rave reviews after OTE’s PRO combine on October 22nd - including being called the ‘best player on the floor’ by ESPN’s DRAFT EXPERT Mike Schmitz. Both Montero and Gortman pair elite basketball SAVVINESS with blazing speed, qualities that should allow Team Gomes to deploy the same game-plan no matter who has the ball in his hands.
THE BACKCOURT
Gortman and Montero will split point guard duties, while 6-foot-5 combo guard Lewis Duarte and 6-foot 2 Tudor Șomăcescu will be expected to provide major production. Duarte - one of the later-signings to OTE, gives Gomes a tough, physical guard that likes to play fast. Somacescu is a prized prospect from Romania, and he should provide a massive lift on the defensive end. Somacescu doesn’t have any glaring weaknesses in his game, and could find himself playing major minutes in the Gomes’ backcourt. National pundits such as Rivals’ Jamie Shaw are debating whether or not Gortman and Montero are the most exciting non-NBA backcourt duo, which means expectations are sky-high for the guards on Team Gomes.
THE FRONTCOURT
Team Gomes has plenty of size in the Space front Court, featuring three forwards and two swingmEn. DominiCK Barlow will be one of the featured forwards, fresh off a terrific spring and summer with The Renaissance (NY) in the Nike EYBL. Barlow is a 6-foot-9 dual-forward, capable of impacting a box score without having a play called for him. His athleticism complements an elite motor, something that can also be said about Barlow’s frontcourt mate Jai Smith. A 6-foot-9 super-athlete with evolving Perimeter skills, Smith should impact in the rotation at the small forward through center positions. Smith - along with 6-foot-10 Alexandre Sarr - are the tallest members of the roster. Their continued improvement - especially on the defensive end of the floor - will be important for team Gomes’ success. Smith and Barlow are both capable of playing on the wing, and they’ll be joined by the final two members of the rotation, Nathan Missia-Dio and Malik Bowman. The 6-foot-8 Missia-Dio looks the part physically and has displayed guard-skills - a trait that should play nicely into the current Team Gomes’ personnel. Bowman was the youngest recruit on the roster by graduation class, and the 6-foot-7 prospect is oozing with both potential and versatility. While he may not play heavy minutes right away, he’s simply too talented not to MAKE AN IMPACT ON THE ROTATION. 45
